I like Jimmy's Egg. I had a nice breakfast there. I showed up by myself while running errands. The hostess led me to a nice seat by the window. I ordered a Classic Eggs Benedict with broccoli instead of hash browns. I like the fact that they gave me a healthier option. My server was so friendly and helpful. When I mentioned how much I enjoyed the breakfast, we both agreed that the green onions helped to make it special. "Right?!" she said. "It's our kitchen. Those people are so great." The restaurant is cheerful. Big windows. Bright. I'll come back. It's a comfortable place regardless whether I'm dining alone or if I decide to bring a friend. Jimmy's Eggs on Western Ave is absolutely amazing. We went for breakfast and arrived 45 minutes before close, the staff were all smiles, happily waiting on tables cleaning and getting ready to end the day, but nothing felt rushed. We recently had a group lunch order for pickup, and it was my first time trying Jimmy's. I was overall pleased with my lunch which was their Very Veggie Omelette with a mini stack pancakes and grits. What would have made this a 5-star experience is a bigger, fluffier omelette, and the spinach and mushroom omelette from IHOP comes to mind as an example of a good veggie omelette. The cutlery and condiments, including syrup and ketchup, were appreciated although I am mindful of the impact of disposable plastic ware on our environment. Nothing fancy is happening here ambiance wise, but every time we have come it has been solid breakfast food. We tried the club sandwich this visit and it was definitely more of a star than the eggs Benedict, but both were satisfying. Service was excellent, quick to check in on us and refill coffee. Only complaint was our side items. The fries with the sandwich were good, but only a few on the plate which felt very sparse. The home fries that came with the Benedict seemed undercooked and under seasoned. That being said both main items were very good, which is more important for the meal experience. I find it interesting that the majority of Yelpers who give poor ratings about how horrible the food is provide no photos. Show us how bad it is if you're going to say it's bad. For us, the service and food were both quite good. This was our first visit to Jimmy's Egg and we were impressed with the menu and all they offer. One nice thing about their breakfast dishes is that you can choose your side - they don't automatically give you bread and potatoes. What a nice change! We did start with a cappuccino which was more of a latte - it seems our server didn't quite know the difference or how to make one. For our meals, we chose the Classic Benedict and the Biscuit & Gravy Omelette. The eggs in the benny were perfect. In fact, I heard someone in the kitchen say, 'keep your eye on the benny' and the response was that there were 20 seconds left. Seems they have a plan in place for making poached eggs. While another Yelper here said they disliked the hollandaise sauce, we found it to be good and tasted as it should. The B&G omelette was good but I have to admit, I probably wouldn't order it again. I choose it because, for the price, it offered an omelette with ham, sausage, bacon, and cheese and included a B&G along with two sides. The B&G is served on top of/or in the omelette which I found odd. Next time I'll opt for the Biscuits Gone Wild which offers the same as the omelette for $1 cheaper and just one side. The bacon is described as slow-smoked. It definitely is smoked. I guess I haven't had smoked bacon before...not my favorite for a morning meal. It seems the restaurant chain has a few locations in the South which helps explain why they offer sausage gravy dishes and cheesy grits - both are two of our favorites. The restaurant was clean. My wife and I had been passing this relatively new restaurant since they opened. We decided to give them a try. They have a fairly comprehensive breakfast menu. The food was prepared very well and they did a good job following our special requests. The service was prompt and extremely friendly. There is not a lot of ambiance but this restaurant is certainly worth a try if you are looking for a decent little breakfast place. They did try to follow social distancing requirements by sitting folks every other booth where possible. Certainly worth supporting this local business. read more

I have been here maybe a dozen times since it is close to my work. Their club sandwich (served cold) is always outstanding. Their breakfast is ok not great, we found a different diner that we prefer. My wife no longer wants to come here because she prefers some place else. I stopped in this morning because it is close to where I work and i wanted country fried steak. My wife and I have patronized JE 6-7 times now, specifically for breakfast. Please note - we have not eaten lunch there. With that disclaimer aside, JE has good quality food and excellent service. The place is very clean, open and well lit. The Bathrooms are very clean. JE is a Denny's albeit with a smaller menu. The prices are similiar for both Dennys and Jimmy's Egg. The food quality is also the same. The big negative for us is the small portion sizes at Jimmy's Egg. For what you are being charged, the portions are underwhelming. This morning we stopped by for breakfast. My wife ordered the Pancake Deluxe, and I had the Meat Lovers Skillet. The pancake order came with two pancakes, bacon and sausage. Three pancakes would have rendered the order minimally satisfactory for the price. My meat lovers skillet was laughably small. I thought the server had brough me something from the kids menu. I looked around the numerous tables and soon discovered that my skillet was the standard size. So tasty yet so sad. So in my humble opinion, if you like the Dennys and Jimmy's Egg business model, at least for breakfast, you get much more value for your dollar at Dennys. Thanks for reading. read more

I was interested to try this place. My favorite restaurant of this type is, far and away, Waffle House, a restaurant that the Northern U.S., let alone upState, New York, will never get. I was hoping that Jimmy's would be similar. Unfortunately, Jimmy's is no nowhere near close to Waffle House or even the greasiest of greasy-spoon truck stops, except maybe for service and production workflow. The place is brand new and clean. The service is extremely attentive and responsive. However, the food is well below par. I ordered eggs benedict; my wife ordered bog-standard eggs. The hollandaise sauce is thick and starchy, as if made from a box mix - very salt with no butter/lemon flavor. The ham is sliced deli sandwich meat. I ordered sausage links, too. They are the 9 millimeter diameter, extruded, small doggy turds type. The "English" muffin is thin - weird. Overall, extremely salty with weird flavors. The fried potatoes next to the eggs were raw-hard. The waiter adjusted the bill. The photos of the turkey club sandwich don't look spec. The Capital City diner 1/4 mile down Western Avenue has nothing to worry about. The McDonald's Egg McMuffin is perfection compared to this plate of yuk. Getting a reward for signing up gave me the incentive to go to Jimmy's Egg again. My first visit was for lunch and I liked my Cuban sandwich. Now I came back to try the eggs. I ordered a western omelet and tried to order a small stack of pancakes, but our server could only find mini pancakes on her tablet. Our waitress did say this was only her second weekend working and she seemed frazzled. All in all, our meals were just ok, nothing to brag about. Disgusting food and it smells weird as soon as you walk in, it was my first time here and definitely my last. I got a simple avocado toast with a fruit bowl on side. Most of the avocado was brown and I had to scrape it off. The fruit wasn't even fresh it was nearly molding and didn't taste or look right at all. Just ok for dining in. Very disappointed when we ordered a to go combo for our son and asked specifically for the food to be put in separate containers so they wouldn't mix. They clearly forgot and instead of re-doing the order they unboxed the food, revised it and didn't mention anything. I'm guessing some of it went missing when they did this as there was hardly any hash, the eggs had potatoes in them and there was bacon bits on the pancakes. Don't get to go. Not worth it. I have had breakfast here a couple times and my experience is mixed. First, the interior setup is spacious and clean. The wait staff are polite and responsive. As for the food, the quality, portion size and the price are acceptable and average. The last time I had ordered the pancakes, sausage and eggs. The pancakes were actually pretty good. The sausage patty was average and the eggs (scrambled) were awful - flat and watery. So, I feel that I could have prepared a better meal at home, honestly. But, I would return if I want to have someone fix breakfast for me and hope the cook is better at preparing scrambled eggs. read more

THE WORST MEAL IVE EVER HAD! My husband got a burger and curly fries. Clearly the patty was frozen not fresh and the curly fries were what I buy from Walmart. Disappointing. My first bite I tasted pork. I spit it out into my napkin and the meat was pink. Turkey sausage is not pink.... I took another piece out of my omelette and gave it to my husband to try and he said yes, that's pork. It was bacon. I told the waitress that there was pork in my omelette l, she apologized and took it back to the kitchen. At this point the owner sends the waitress back out to me with my plate and a small bowl of pork sausage that is crumbled up and says "the owner wanted me to tell you that there is not pork sausage in your omelette because this is what our pork sausage looks like" and she shows me the bowl. I told her that I do not eat pork and I know that there was pork in my omelette. She goes back to the kitchen, here comes the owner carrying my plate and the same bowl of crumbled pork sausage and says the same thing to me that the waitress had said. I said okay, we'll it's not pork sausage it's bacon. She said from what I can see (pointing to my plate in her hand that I had sent back) there isn't any more pieces in here. I didn't respond, just looked at her. She proceeds to tell me "everything is made on the same grill and there's always a chance of cross contamination do you understand that?" Like I was some kind of idiot. I said please bring me an omelette with just peppers onions and cheese. She had the worst attitude. She was so combative, I have never had that kind of experience with an owner of a restaurant. She had such an attitude when she walked away that she walked into a tray of cups that were on a cart. After she left the table next to us told us how ridiculous the whole situation was and that it was not appropriate the way the owner handled the situation. The food was absolutely horrible.
