She did ask me if I preferred fresh cream 1/2&1/2 rather than from the individual creamers on the table/bar; which I was appreciative of. You have to ask for jelly for your toast-BY the way. My spouse had a Smashburger, which I know you don't have a lot of control over the doneness but for me it was too well done however, french fries were excellent! They have a nice coating on them. This is the second time I've ordered the hash skillet one time at EG location, which had fingerling potatoes on the bottom and this time they were round red potatoes "smashed" in half regardless I wasn't happy with the dish because there's a large amount of their house hollandaise and quite a bit of Sriracha sauce on top which really makes the corned beef hash very soggy. It seems odd to me to have to cut your potatoes to get a bite or have a 1/2 potato hanging out of your mouth. I really prefer the prior iteration of the restaurant were you actually got home fries, and there were specials. And I used to love the catchy decor with a muffin tin lined bar, and the giant whisk decor- this new boutique style is pretty generic. Coffee was meh. Although they have some interesting craft coffee and cocktails. This place is solid. I've sat in the dining room and at the bar. They have a diverse, creative menu. Staff are friendly and service is always attentive. My only complaint/recommendation is the home fries. We stopped here for breakfast on our journey north. So glad we found this gem - we had a great experience! The server was very helpful in giving suggestions and making sure everyone's coffee was always filled. I had one of their seasonal specials - pumpkin spice pancakes. These things were DELICIOUS! Pancakes spiced with pumpkin spice, vanilla mascarpone cream cheese, white chocolate chips, caramel drizzle. They were everything I could have asked for and more! Came for brunch with a group and had a great time. The place was a little busy but that's to be expected. Was able to get photos of my items and not the others. The snickers coffee was a great boozy breakfast drink. Very strong pours and certainly didn't need another! I was happy with the omelette although the onions were not fully caramelized to my liking and I never got the cheese sauce I requested but nonetheless a great meal. Our bad, we didn't give him the instructions that it goes towards the bill. So on $46 bill for two. The server just assumed $20.00 was for him to keep and charged my card $46.00. I am going there tomorrow to fix it up with the manager and get some money back, that the server helped himself to. Update: I went back and talked to the lady on the front desk who said she was the manager, told her everything. She was kind of not happy that I came back for this issue, she told me that if you didn't told him to split up, it was understood that $20.00 is for tip. But how come the servers automatically assume that $20.00 cash is for their tip? Unless the customer says, this is for you or something. Anyways, not returning any time soon. Visited their new location (next door). I like what they've done with the new space. BMT is giving their stretch of Madison Ave a fun feel. We sat at a high top near the bar. We could see the whole bar-side dining area and where we were by the windows was much more spread out than the rest of the room, which was nice with a service dog. I have a milk protein allergy and was happy to see a vegan section of the brunch menu. I tried the vegan French toast (almond milk and banana mash replaces cream and egg). It came with real maple syrup and a butter substitute. I didn't use the Smart Balance butter substitute, I'm not a fan of brand. The French toast did not need it!!! Anyone looking for a dairy or egg-free option who loves French toast should give this a try. I also added a side of Irish bacon which proved to be a perfect pairing! We tried this location after trying their other location last week, and it was disappointing. He ordered a waffle and eggs over medium, and the waffle was very small for the price. The eggs were barely cooked to the point where we were able to tilt the serving dish and they pooled in it. Not gathered, pooled. I ordered the grilled cheese Benedict again, and the home fries were extremely overcooked. The added onions were barely cooked onions dumped on top. The tomato made the bread soggy, and the eggs were overcooked and not at all runny even though I ordered over easy. The bacon was rubbery and not at all crispy. This branch is closer to our home than the other location so transportation time wasn't an issue in causing the food to go soggy. I think it was just a lack of care because they were so busy. But your food standards shouldn't lapse just because you're busy. read more

First, there was plenty of parking, which was great! There was a nice, big tent set up outside. The staff were nice (when they finally recognized me standing by what appeared to be the hostess desk). And employee, Ashley, was great! The oatmeal pancakes and french fries were delicious! The prices were good. Low point - There was no diversity among staff when I was there. Unfortunately disappointed by my visit. I used the Waitlist through Yelp. It asked me what time I'd be arriving and I said in 15-30 minutes so it said "ok we'll see you between 9:48 and 10:03". I got there at 9:58 and was told my table was given away because it was ready 24 minutes ago and I took too long to arrive so now I had to wait 30 minutes for a table. That makes no sense. I arrived in the time I stated. Very annoying. But I waited anyways. Ordered a chai latte and it tasted a little funny. I'm very pregnant so I thought maybe my taste buds were off or something. Until the 5 year old at the table tried her milk and commented that it tasted gross. They gave us bad milk! So we told the waitress and she got us new drinks but didn't really seem all that apologetic or even surprised. I ordered off the specials menu and the Italian Strata was very tasty! (My whole party did really enjoy their food so thats a positive.) It didn't say it came with home fries so I ordered a side of home fries. And then it did come with them. I wish the waitress told me when I ordered a side that my meal came with them. But I'm not totally sure she knew. She was fairly inattentive, barely come to check on us or offer coffee refills and was not really that friendly. Normally, I LOVE this place and have never had an issue. I am absolutely in love with this place. I work 3rd shift and as you can imagine, most places that serve alcohol, good alcohol, don't open until 11. Except this place. This location opens (7:00) even ealier than the OG (7:30)! As a bonus, they're potentially the only local place (excluding diners and chains) that serves real brunch food every day of the week. They have hipster decor that mimics a brightly lit, modern coffee shop. Their drinks are well crafted and includes an extensive bloody mary and mimosa list. They have friendly service, even when busy (which is often). My friend and I tried their - Special: Blueberry Cinnamon Pancakes... which were good but not amazing. - Chesapeke Beni... which I am still drooling over. The crab cake was slightly on the darker side (overcooked?) but I couldn't tell because the poached egg, vegetables and sauce blew me away. - Dirty Chai... yum! The waitress suggested I get it cold since when it's hot, it's liquor flavor is not as potent. - Ruby Sunrise... good but taste sliiiightly artificial. My friend absolutely loved it though. My (college-age) kids made a reservation to treat me to brunch for Mother's Day. We were all disappointed with our experience. It was quite pricey ($48 per person) for a buffet - alcohol not included - and the food was mediocre at best & cold. No one went back to the buffet after a first trip. Breakfast was typical, nothing special, and there were more lunch-type options on the buffet than breakfast, I would've expected the opposite since we were there at 8:30am. Although the advertisement for the buffet did indicate the price "plus tax and gratuity" We were surprised the gratuity was 20% for a buffet. Total bill with one mimosa was $262 for 4 people!! Not at all worth it in our opinion. We love the Cafe Madison Loudonville location, this was definitely the opposite. We won't be returning. read more

My daughter is in New York City dealing with this Covid crisis. We couldn't do our yearly Mother's Day tulipfest fun. She decided to order me brunch from Cafe Madison. She got cheesy hashbrowns and vegetarian frittata together with a huge loaf of cinnamon bread and premade Mimosas! We FaceTimed as she ate her breakfast and I ate mine. I think my breakfast was way better than hers. Cheesy hashbrowns are now my new favorite breakfast food. They are amazing! So cheesy like a casserole. The frittata came in a round tin. Baked to perfection it had broccoli, tomatoes, onions, probably some other veggies I ate it so fast I didn't pay attention. So delicious and enough for probably six people! It said this meal feeds two to four but I think it could definitely feed more. The loaf of cinnamon bread was so big, I shared with my next door neighbors and still have half a loaf. Cafe Madison is a trendy, popular brunch spot, conveniently located in Loudon Plaza. The interior is bright and colorful and there is a very lively energy in the restaurant during the weekend brunch rush. We arrived around 10:30am on a Sunday and were told to expect a wait of up to 30 minutes. We ended up waiting almost an hour to be seated, which was disappointing, but lesson learned about arriving at that time without calling ahead. We ordered coffee and bloody marys to start and were happy with our drinks. The coffee is bottomless for a low price and the pours were always very hot. I ordered the Cajun Bloody Mary and was very happy with the flavor and spice level. For food we ordered the Chicken and Waffles and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. Overall, the food was good, but a little dry. My pancakes came with a blueberry compote on top, but without any butter or syrup, which they really needed. I asked for butter, which they happily supplied, but it seemed a little strange that it would be served without. My husband liked his Chicken and Waffles, but also noted that he was surprised that there was only a light drizzle of syrup, as the dish could have used a sweeter note. In terms of the crowd, there seemed to be a 50/50 split of those dining in sweatpants (myself included) and those who got dressed up for brunch. I, personally, really liked this balance. It's also worth noting that this venue is quite loud, playing early 2000s hip-hop during Sunday brunch (no complaints!). Because of the overall noise in the restaurant, I would say Cafe Madison might be a better fit for a brunch with friends than a Mother's Day brunch. I generally think brunch spots are overrated, and Cafe Madison is no exception. It's not bad, but the hype for the quality of food at this restaurant is too high. I went a couple weekends ago with a friend and our experience was just fine. I was excited to order the yogurt and granola parfait, but ultimately i was disappointed. It was a small ramekin that consisted of 2 sliced strawberries, a few blueberries, a sprinkling of granola, and a mere drizzle of some loose, overly sweet yogurt... with whipped cream on top. It is Cafe Madison but it isn't on Madison. A new version has been opened in this trendy new spot located in Loudonville. The new space looks wonderful! My wife and I grabbed some breakfast on a rainy Saturday morning. The creative breakfast menu is their claim to fame. They have a parking lot so it is automatically an upgraded experience over the downtown Albany location. After scanning the menu I was intrigued by the variety but I chose one of my all time favorites. Huevos Rancheros!!! I love this dish and hope to have it somewhere truly authentic some day. The Madison Cafe version was excellent. You could add chorizo as an option and I could not resist. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The potatoes were pretty ordinary but I liked the addition of the seasoned sour cream to balance out the somewhat spicy element to the dish. I also ordered a side of cinnamon toast. The bread is homemade here which is a nice touch. This particular bread was..... not good. Too dry and the cinnamon was almost non existent. My wife was feeling less adventurous and ordered a standard breakfast with eggs and pancakes. She loves the cakes here. I gave them a try and I thought they were nice. Creative breakfast is a wonderful thing. A departure from the traditional omelettes and standard breakfast fare is always welcome in my book.
