Was staying in the area and looking through Yelp to find an affordable meal. I like going to mom and pop places and this one didn't disappoint. The Point, I think refers to where the cafe is situated, at the point (or corner) of the street. From the outside, it could use some curb appeal. After entering, the inside could use some sprucing up as well. That being said, we sat in the other dining area and I couldn't wait to order the chilaquiles, my favorite breakfast from Mexico. The waitress took her time getting over and took our order, walked over to the computer to send it to the kitchen. I can't even begin to tell you how magical my breakfast was! Everything I wanted, fresh avocado, chicken and jalapeños, perfectly cooked eggs. Thank you for offering delicious meals. I hope to return. read more

This place is a relative bargain compared to other diners in the area. I've had a few breakfasts there so that's what this review is going to cover. Another one of the perks is they not only offer the usual breakfast menu items like omelets, butter milk pancakes, French toast, eggs Benedict, etc., but they also serve Mexican offerings like chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, huevos a la Mexicana. More menu items for a slightly cheaper price, sign me up. I did order the huevos rancheros...twice. I guess I liked them. Menu states the huevos rancheros consists of "2 eggs over easy, over fried corn tortillas, topped with homemade salsa and Mexican cheese. Served with refried beans and rice." The first time, they added sliced avocados. The second time...nada. Hey, they used what was available. I also adore that dining out sometimes can get one out of a funk. Sometimes, I get so used to routine and habit that even a restaurant dish that is slightly out of my wheelhouse can get me thinking, acting, and appreciating things a bit more. If you're looking for breakfast/brunch that offers more options, no need to go further than the Point. read more

I have never had a bad experience here. I have been here (for breakfast only mind you) for breakfast so many times I have lost count. The service was always friendly and they don't price gouge you. In fact, I remember when breakfast here was $1.29! Hahahahahaha isn't that sad? I'm really dating myself here. It is very cute and cozy inside. read more

I order out from this restaurant regularly. I have yet to be disappointed. The menu is so big and the food is always delicious. No matter what you order. I absolutely enjoy the Mexican spin on the food items I highly recommend the food here You will not regret eating here read more

From the outside going in we were not expecting much but the need to feed motivated us in, as did a few of the positive reviews already left. Overall a very positive experience. It's very cozy inside, if it's crowded expect noise and not a lot of room. It was practically empty the day we went so the noise thing is an assumption based on an observation. Waitress was very nice and pleasant, everyone was accommodated easily and everyone was very pleased with their order with plenty left over to bring home. Kitchen staff were quick and amazing. Very happy overall, will definitely be back! read more

I used to love this diner! I believe they changed owners & now the quality and service has completely gone downhill. Eat in is better than take out. Constantly making mistakes in orders, under cooked AND overcooked food on the same plate. Such a shame read more

Kind and delicious! What a lovely place with great prices and good people. I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this place

Food was mediocre. Ordered delivery and they didn't provide butter or syrup for pancakes and omellete didn't come with cheese, which is like the main filling in American omelettes otherwise it's just a folded scrambled egg. read more

I've wanted to order from here for quite awhile and I finally had the chance to. Listennnnnn, I am picky about my breakfast and especially when I get it to go. This did nooooottt disappoint!!!! 10/10!!! The hash browns were perfectly cooked and the wrap was literally amazing. I will be back to try something else, well maybe, this is so good I might just order this every time lol! The inside was a cute and cozy little place and the ladies in front were friendly. Best neighborhood dining around. Accommodations, food, service, staff and convenience. Can't really ask for more

Ordered online through Uber eats. I got the ham on white bread add Swiss cheese for an extra charge. I got it but it had no cheese and it was half a sandwich for 7.25. If I had know that I wouldn't have gotten it, i would have just stuck to the spaghetti dinner. I called and told the lady who answered they should update their menu because had i know that i wouldnt have ordered it and was told it wasn't her problem in a very rude manner. I used to love this place but this is the second time I have had a problem. The first time they went above ans beyond to deliver what was wrong so I gave it a second chance but to be spoken to the way this woman did was uncalled for. read more

Love, love, love this cafe! Sandy was great as well. Very personable and just a great person all around. My niece and I popped into town to see the Van Gough Immersion exhibition and decided on this cafe for breakfast. We were not unhappy at all. My niece ordered the Strawbanella Waffle and I ordered the Huevos Rancheros. I'm a tough critic when it comes to ordering and eating Mexican food having lived in the southwest for 20+ years, but their Huevos was amazingly good. I could have done with a touch more heat, but I can't complain. The Strawbanella Waffle was a home run with my niece as this petite young lady ate nearly the entire waffle. We were both amazed. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. It would surely be a fav spot if I lived in the area. read more

Just remember this is a cash establishment! But ATM here is $2! We had to use it oops. Well someone told us of this place for breakfast from the theatre. So here we are! Didn't realize it was Mexican American. But pleasantly surprised. We picked a table by the window and had the most delightful waitress Cassy! Well I decided to try the Mexican fiesta Breakfast Burrito with homefries. Wow the grilled onions made that burrito. It had chicken, grilled onions, scrambled eggs, cheese. Then she brought out 2 salsas. Green and red. I liked both but hung with the red in every bite. It was soooo tasty. But I just could t eat it all. Prob left 4 bites and some potatoes... brrrp! Coffee is good and always full too! Bf had Taco salad with ground beef. It was full of beef and no beans. They fresh fried the taco shell per order. No 1000 but he did have ranch. The jalepenõ's were nice n crunchy and pickled. He gave me one for my burrito! Hehe. read more

Everything that's great about America, you can find here. An old neighborhood joint, now under management by first generation immigrants. Old timers at home with new comers. A tasty (if modified to American tastes) international cuisine on top of standard diner favorites. A hard-working family who proudly display photos of their kids currently in the service. A pleasing low-key melange of personal touches showing pride. A clean floor. (I cannot overemphasize the latter in comparing this to other diners.) The food wasn't completely transportive -- just solid. We were a little surprised by some of the modifications (Huevos Rancheros where all the constituent ingredients are carefully tucked to the side? No salsa picante available, not even a bottle of Cholula?) so as a "Mexican" restaurant it falls into the not-really-quite the way we remember it from home in California and fairly far from Mexican-Mexican fare. But if you take as the point of comparison the usual Greek diner fare, it's an excellent change of pace at reasonable diner-level prices. Warmly recommended for your comfort meal needs. read more

Best Sunrise ever!!!! It was like heaven in my mouth. Perfect in every way!! A definite must have if you haven't already.

I ordered the enchiladas. I was literally the worst I've ever had. It was chicken in a cold folded in half tort with a tablespoon of sauce over it with congealed cheese over it. It tasted disgusting. They'll also didn't send the sour cream or guacamole that it's supposed to come with which would have at least possibly masked the horrible flavor of the food. read more

I really, really wanted to like this place -- that exterior is so cute! -- but it was an overall disappointing experience. The interior felt stuffy and poorly ventilated, so I left with my hair and clothes smelling strongly of fryer grease. They were out of what seemed like a lot of things on the menu, some of which we were told about after we placed our orders and told we had to order something else, and some of which we only discovered when one plate was delivered with missing cole slaw (and no offer to replace it with something else. Plus, isn't it kind of weird for a diner to run out of coke slaw?). Our very young waitress seemed to be struggling and accidentally dumped some food onto the table. Finally -- and what brought this review down to two stars -- the fries were undercooked and soggy. The rave reviews for this place seem to be for their breakfast, so I might try it again for that, but I think I'd avoid it for lunch. read more

I've driven by this little gem often, and each time I swear I'm going to try them. Well today was the day! I ordered through DoorDash, so I don't have any info on their customer service. However, I can talk about their food. My 9 year old ordered the French toast and bacon, my 14 year old got chicken tenders and fries. Both loved their food, and that's saying a lot from these two picky eaters. I ordered from their Mexican menu, and all I can say is, "Wow!." I started with their tamales which were flavorful with just the right amount of kick. My main dish was Camarones al Mojo de Ajo, which roughly translates to shrimp with garlic. The portion was huge. It came with refried beans and rice. The shrimp were butterflied and has such an incredible flavor. The rice was incredible, and the refried beans were delicious. I've eaten at some other Mexican restaurants, but The Point Cafe soars leaps and bounds above the others. read more

The staff was very nice and the food was good but unremarkable, nothing to complain about other than they had changed their menu since the last time I was there and most of the incredible Mexican cuisine they used to offer was gone. Being as this was mainly why I went back, I was disappointed. Overall, good value for the money spent. read more

This used to be one of my favorite diners. It's under new ownership and they've run it into the ground. Twice now in the same week they've messed up my order. Today it's completely undercooked eggs. I'm so disappointed. read more

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when we walked in the door, but this ended up being a great choice for breakfast one lazy Saturday morning. The restaurant layout is casual and cafe-like with Mexican flair and a diner-y feel. The food breakfast options include traditional American fare that you'd expect from typical diners (eggs & meat, corned beef hash, omelettes, pancakes, etc) Tex-mex/Mexican options, and some smattering of Italian and Greek options as well. The menu was pretty large and there were lunch options too. Prices were reasonable. The server was really friendly and the food came out quick. My boyfriend and I were swayed by the sausage gravy options so we ended up ordering almost the same exact thing. He opted for the country fried steak topped with sausage gravy, and eggs. I was sold on one of the specials-a sausage gravy topped Benedict in which the meat was replaced with a sausage patty. Sausage galore. Both options came with a choice of home fries or hash browns. I was psyched by the latter option since homefries (blah) typically accompany most breakfast options. I've always liked the crunch/crust and taste of hash browns better than home fries. We were not disappointed. Overall, a good solid breakfast option! read more

Good solid little breakfast spot. Hungry man breakfast had two 7 inch pancakes, 2 gigantic sausages and probably two or three egg scrambled and an orange juice for 13 dollars. Definitely would head back again. Place was a good little spot. They accept credit card which was a little scary when I saw an atm sign on the window. read more

What a find, a Mexican cafe serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with Mexican dishes as well as American cuisine. We had breakfast with great coffee. I ordered a mushroom swiss omelet with sides of either refried beans, potatoes or fruit. The omelet was great and the refried beans excellent. My dining mate ordered the Point Greek omelet special that came with potatoes and toast. Everything cooked to order. The waitress told us all sauces and salsas homemade as well as most everything else. The restaurant is bright and clean with friendly service. Food came out hot, plated nicely with good portions. Prices moderate. I loved the fact that one could order Mexican breakfast such as Chilaquiles and Huevos Rancheros. The menu also features, salads, burgers, wraps, American breakfasts, Greek specialties, as well as popular Mexican main dish and Mexican appetizers. Kids lunch on the menu too. There is something for everyone here. We will return for a Mexican dinner. read more

First time here and I am pleased. The menu is a mix of American & Mexican offerings with something for everyone (Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner). You need to look past the exterior and give this place a try. Since this is my first time, I am reserving the right to amend by review with subsequent visits. My first impression warrants a YELP Bookmark for future visits. Next time I really need to try the Mexican options. Today I had the country fried steak with eggs and home fries. The food was good, the service was friendly, the kitchen wait was short and the price was very reasonable. Overall, this restaurant is worthy of a Friends & Family recommendation and repeat visits. More to follow with secondary visits..... read more

Sit where ever you like. Small cozy cafe. Mexican flare. Very friendly waitress. Went for breakfast. It seemed as though everyone knew each other. Local vibe. Felt at home. Quick service. I got the pastrami and Swiss omelet. With toast and choice of potatoes or beans or fruit. Very good. My daughter ordered the breakfast burrito, that comes with choice of potatoes. She loved it. Our waitress was quick to refill our coffee cup. Over all real good. Will be going back to try the Mexican breakfast bowl, lol 8/1/17 Went again. Had too! It was that good!! And OMG the sunrise omelette was heaven! I seriously think it's now my favorite omelette!!! Great service once again! The his place is my go to place now. A hit with my kids too! We had breakfast here this morning. We were greeted warmly by Karen. She was a ray of sunshine. I had your basic egg sandwich. Even the egg was over well instead of over medium, it didn't matter. It was still delicious. My daughter and husband had breakfast burritos and they were very happy. I stole the salsa sauce that went with his burrito which I put on my egg sandwich. Yummy. I think the true testament was the six police officers and the big crowd of people that followed. It's not fancy but the food was good and the service was excellent. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in Schenectady. read more

What a pleasant surprise to find this place, despite the fact that you cannot miss its yellow facade when driving past. This place should absolutely be at the top of your list for breakfast spots if you're in the area. Very good food, very good pricing. I went there for breakfast with two others. My girlfriend and I both ordered the breakfast burrito, and while I was impressed with the quality of the food I did find the seasoning to be a bit bland. Side of hashbrowns were great, and the portions provided were perfect. My father ordered apple pancakes with a side of fresh, of the bone ham. Looked great, and the pancake batter they used looked to be very dense. Definitely a cake. Coffee was great. So rare nowadays that places have good coffee it's worth mentioning, but it was always fresh, never acidic. This place should get 4.5 stars, if/when I go back if my experience is the same or better I'll definitely award 5. read more

I love this place. I have yet to have an issue with their food and their service is always great. I mainly order breakfast to go. Now I won't say it's a unique crazy place, we're talking a normal eggs, toast, home fries, french toast type deal. The french toast is very good. They definitely don't cheap out on the bread. Eggs are always cooked and home fries are crispy and not burnt. Where I think they shine too is they don't cheap out and give you basically nothing besides your breakfast. Some places you have to be specific about syrup or something in the bag. This place always includes the sauces. I have had lunch here too with my mother. Both of us really enjoyed our meals. Great place. Will go again. read more

True story: my French toast had baking soda topping instead of powdered sugar. I was given a discount, but that is actually quite disturbing if you think about it. Thank God it wasn't some kind of cleaning supply. Obviously, they don't have everything labeled...or not correctly? The wait staff were nice. The lady I told about the mishap didn't understand my tone when I said that the topping was baking soda, confusedly. "This is baking soda?" "No, it's not." "Yes, it is baking soda, I just tasted it." When my French toast returned, it had crystallized sugar on it... Maybe just don't get French toast. read more
