Buffalo Chicken Wrap and a Pancake for lunch @ Halfmoon Diner
    Christian L.

Great diner. Those bad stars are misplaced. It is a real nice shiny silver diner, with people that actually welcome the guests. The food (see pics) was made fast and served hot at the counter! Fluffy pancakes were plenty fat and tasty wraps, too. Fantastic all round diner food in a clean spot! Good for bar hopping: it includes a full service booze and liquor rack. Review: 5+

    Roasted turkey sandwich

Not sure what's happening or this is just how they make it. Ordered a roasted turkey sandwich. Only got turkey and lettuce on the bread no tomato no mayo, not even cheese, dry as can be. Not sure if you're cutting corners or trying to save on cost, but it's a little disappointing and doesn't make you wanna return or order again

Chicken salad with bacon on rye toast

Visiting the area while my mom is in rehab. On the way home I remember this diner from when I used to live here. Decided to give it a try. Ordered a chicken salad sandwich with bacon on rye. Asked for lettuce tomato on the side and coleslaw. It honestly came out pretty quickly and brought it home and it was delicious! Huge serving and I think I'll have lunch for tomorrow. The coleslaw was nice and milky and had a little sweetness to it which I wasn't sure I would like but I loved it! It went great with my black raspberry milkshake I got it Stewart's. Haha. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and it even looks like they have a full bar if you feel like a cocktail.

Lunch at 1:15 pm on a Wednesday. I do not think I have given a review with Two Stars before. So I am thinking: Is it justified? It is. Let me count the ways. I ordered the Wednesday Special of Pot Roast. It was tough, inedible! Please check out my photo! The vegetable was mundane. The salad had past due pieces of lettuce in it. The Italian Wedding Soup was good. This may sound petty, but the one package of crackers served to me was in pieces. When I told the server I could/would not eat the beef, he said I could pick out something else. He never came back to the table! No eye contact. Walked briskly by booth several times. My husband had the Eggs with Virginia Ham Breakfast. He ordered wheat toast but received white bread. The home "fries" were unique in look which was a surprise. The potatoes were sliced thin; they looked and tasted steamed. Bland. The eggs were fine, and the slice of ham was large. $15.49 The server only charged us for the breakfast. Right thing to do. Just when I thought nothing else could be sketchy. The woman at the cash register was having an animated conversation with someone on her ear bud. Rude. No eye contact. Barely mumbled a thank you. We decided we will never return to this diner! Too many negatives including mediocre food, poor service , and bad attitude from server, the older person in charge, and cashier. Sign on jukebox at our booth said Out of Order. The diner seemed out of order. We are regulars at the Blue Ribbon in Schenectady that is a first class diner. Consistent good service and food over the years. Even the desserts in the case at Halfmoon Diner appeared to be inferior in variety and appearance to those at the Blue Ribbon.

    Greek salad, added gyro strips.

Another friend, Pam, had highly recommended Emma Jayne's Restaurant which is only a couple of traffic lights from Trader Joe's - a perfect location for our trip. The restaurant sits just north of Fred the Butcher (next door, literally) for those who frequent that establishment, on Route 9. There is off-street parking. When we arrived at 12:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, the front parking spaces were full. (Note: there may be parking around back; I didn't check) We thought we might have to wait for a table. Wrong! The restaurant is surprisingly spacious with two large rooms furnished with tables that were thoughtful spaced apart. A photo of an adorable young girl, whom we assumed was the dining establishment's namesake, was on the wall. Let me be sure to mention that the ladies room, which smelled faintly of bleach, was spotless. I mean REALLY clean! About the food ... my friend and I shared an appetizer of Fried Calamari. It was an ample portion (took some home) accompanied by sweet chili sauce - a nice change from typical marinara served at other places. However, the calamari was small and overcooked. As a result, what was presented was a plate of small, overly crisp rings of 90% batter. No squid! For our entrees, Barb chose the Chicken Salad Sandwich. She requested that it be served on a pretzel bun (touted as homemade) for which we were hit with an up-charge of $3.50. The chicken salad had grapes and walnuts in it and Barb liked it very much. The up-charged pretzel roll did not appear to be homemade. Very disappointing. Had she known it would be uninspiring, she would have accepted the brioche roll. Macaroni salad - not very exciting - accompanied the sandwich along with a pickle. I love seafood and was torn between ordering the Fish and Chips (halibut) and Lobster Pot Pie (an appetizer). Our server, Drew, gets a gold star for suggesting the second one when I told him I wasn't a big eater. Apparently, the halibut, while highly recommended, is a sizable portion. The pot pie was superb! The rich, creamy sauce was divine. I couldn't eat it all and will enjoy the rest of it for lunch today. Emma Jayne's menu has something for everyone. Our server, Drew, was informative and attentive. While we may make other food choices (skip the calamari and pretzel bun but keep the pot pie), we will definitely return.

We frequented this place over the past two weeks while taking care of a family member in their final stages of life. Pita and Olive became our family's go-to spot for comfort food. We all ordered various plates from kebabs, falafal, beef and lamb pitas, chicken bowl, and sides of their delicious rice. While running errands a few days ago I actually stopped in JUST to pick up a side of rice and a small cup of their creamy dill sauce (which tastes amazing on everything). Fresh ingredients that are seasoned beautifully and plates that are crafted to satisfy and bring happiness to your tummy and your heart. I want to thank Pita and Olive for providing us with nourishment during some pretty chaotic and sad times.

The addition of the coffee bar/cafe menu has only further endeared me to the place. Just like their food, many of the components of the coffee menu are scratch made, including the milks. They make a pistachio, almond, and oat milk all in house. There may be more too, but those three I know for certain. The attention to detail is also impressive, such as the presentation of each beverage. The cups the drinks are served in aren't just pretty, but also sturdy. Which as a clumsy person, I appreciate. Harder for me to spill. Ha! Something to keep in mind about the cafe menu is that since everything is mainly scratch made or ordered special (their Matcha is from Japan) they will be out of things at times. But there's nothing bad on the menu so I humbly suggest going in with an open mind. The lack of one item being available has caused me to try others, and I haven't disliked anything! I hope they continue to do well and are in the area for a long time to come.

We ordered a specially sauced wings dish (I can't remember the exact name), a classic burger, and onion rings. Before we ordered, the server mentioned that the chefs really know what they're doing--and we 100% agreed after eating. The food was amazing, but what really stood out was the atmosphere. It felt like a place full of regulars, with a very warm and welcoming vibe. The staff seemed genuinely relaxed and happy, and there was a lot of friendly interaction and joking between employees and customers, which I really loved. I really like The Flats in Clifton Park. I've been here several times for dinner and lunch, along with their Christmas breakfast and Mother's Day buffet brunches. Their buffets are excellent. They're around $50 per adult and about $20 for kids, and in my opinion they're worth it if you enjoy a good brunch buffet. Today they had carving stations with roast beef and turkey sliced fresh in front of you, build your own omelets, chocolate chip waffles, chicken nuggets, potato pancakes, sausage, bacon, mac and cheese, herb chicken and rice, seafood, and a huge dessert selection. There were so many desserts I couldn't possibly name them all, but some included chocolate chip cookies, Rice Krispie treats, lemon meringue pie, chocolate mousse pie, Oreo mousse pie, mini cheesecake cupcakes, and plenty of other goodies. I will say the chocolate mousse pie tasted good but was a little gritty in texture. I love me some chocolate mousse pie ordinarily but today I actually preferred the Oreo mousse pie. That being said everything is all you can eat, and it's all very good. It was extremely busy today, which was expected, but service was still excellent. That's been consistent every time I've visited here. The restaurant itself has a nice industrial-style feel and a covered patio area that I really like. It's a newer place that's only been open a few years, at least from what I'm aware of. Most places around here seem to do brunches but not true buffet brunches anymore, and I personally enjoy a good buffet brunch, so this place really stands out to me. If you get the chance to attend one of their buffets, I'd definitely recommend it. I know I will return in the future. 5 stars

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The matcha was absolutely delicious and clearly made with care -- prepared in a proper bowl and whisked with a bamboo whisk. I asked for a bit of honey, which really pulled the entire experience together. Honestly, I'd give this place a 5/5 based on the matcha alone. The smoothie bowl (I go the one that has banana, peanut butter, honey, and some other toppings) was great overall, though I did have one small complaint: there were a few large chunks of ice mixed in, and I accidentally bit into them. Aside from that, the bowl was flavorful and enjoyable. My wife ordered a smoothie, which was just okay. I didn't particularly care for it, and she unfortunately didn't end up finishing it. The service was excellent. The woman who took our order was very friendly and helpful, and she even recommended the matcha -- which turned out to be a great suggestion. One last note: we had visited this spot about a year ago, and it looks like the interior has completely changed since then. The new layout is bright and welcoming, no longer dark, and features a mostly gray palette with accent plants and furniture that bring everything together nicely. It feels much cozier than before.
