My last review referenced eating at an IHOP every ten years, even though I had returned after only seven months. Well, I guess I'm back on schedule. It looks like it's now been just over eleven years since that last visit. The bottom line is that this experience was very good. Arriving on a Friday morning at about 9:45 I was meeting family and friends who had arrived at 9 AM. That was the plan. I've always wondered how this IHOP stayed in business because at the hours that I would normally drive by there would seldom be any cars in the parking lot. Today, there were not only about a dozen cars but also two charter busses traveling between Montreal and N.Y.C. Those passengers had finished a buffet that had been set up exclusively for them and were preparing to depart once they all returned from IHOP's restrooms. After joining my table of family and friends, who had just finished their meals, a server asked if I'd like some coffee and if I was interested in seeing a menu. I agreed to both and ordered the Spicy Poblano Eggs Benedict ($15.29) without any side of hashbrowns or fruit. This was abnormally early for me to be having my first meal of the day. Coffee ($3.69) was decent and my food was served promptly. The Benedict was attractive looking. The eggs were nicely poached with running yolks served on top of tender shredded beef, fire-roasted poblano peppers, red bell peppers, chopped serrano peppers, onions, and English muffin halves. The hollandaise sauce was very tasty. Overall, even with all the different types of peppers I did not find the dish spicy. But it was quite flavorful and I enjoyed it. It now remains to be seen how much time will pass before I visit an IHOP again. read more

I haven't been to an IHOP in 20 years and just had a great breakfast. Both staff who helped us were excellent; the hostess was right there to greet us. She noticed the kids and baby so asked if we wanted a seat for each which she brought right away. The waitress was patient with us while we struggled to get the kid's orders. She checked in on us periodically (I've had some staff in a dinner restaurant bring us our food and then abandon us for the rest of the time). They brought coffee in a jug. They provided a pot for hot water to make tea. The tea was good quality tea. The food came to the table very fast. I am pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to go back. read more

I received an email from IHOP while in Lake George offering a 20% discount on any dine-in order. I figured, why not go to IHOP for breakfast on my way home and get a couple of dollars break. So, I left early this morning and made the 35 minute drive south to the closest IHOP. First things first, it's IHOP. You know pretty much exactly what you're going to get. I was actually surprised that there weren't more cars in the parking lot, but that's ok. I was also surprised that the place only had 1 occupied table at the time, considering they're about 30 seconds off of the Northway. Anyway, a very nice woman, serving as both host & server, took me to a table. I ordered an omelet with breakfast potatoes. I told my server I had a discount code and was asked for it. I gave it to her and nothing else was said about it. My food arrived quickly and I was happily surprised at the size of the omelet. It was actually almost Dirty Pierre's size It was pretty tasty too, with plenty of cheese. When it was time for the check, she told me that the discount was not valid at their location, but she gave it to me anyway. I thanked her for that and made sure to put a little extra in her tip for her generosity. I could easily see myself returning. read more

Big open clean dining room, attentive and friendly service AND they know how to cook and present food = WINNER. We came here close to the last hour of opening one night. We were one of only two parties in the room as most of the business seemed to be delivery or pick-up. Food came out without delay and everything was just as it should be. I came here with my kids who love pancakes for every meal of the day. If you want southern hospitality ask for Brian F. This guy does it all from front staff, to waiter, to cashier. He is a awesome guy who took care of our every need, drinks filled without asking, made suggestions when asked, and over all cool guy. Pancakes from cupcake, to strawberry banana came out super fast super fresh and cooked to perfection. The eggs were fluffy and tasted awesome. This location made a big turnaround for the better. The cook in the background has his music going and was putting out perfection. Both these guys deserve a raise or a commendation for their service. Well done management. read more

Good food, good service - convient! Unlike other IHOP's never have to wait on a line!

My experience here was not bad at all if you look at it from an overall perspective. There were some pros and there were some cons to the meal but we will get to that later. When you walked into the store the store looked very clean it looked very spacious from when I was in there the last time the countertop that used to run along the one side of the building was gone which opened up the building a lot and made social distancing much easier. We still had to use the app and be called in for our meal to be seated but it seemed to work pretty efficiently and I was very happy with the results. Patti was our server today and she was very attentive to certain things but was not attentive to others. For instance, there are paper menus and when we sat down to the table we were only given one paper menu for two of us and with both of us sitting on opposite sides of the table it was impossible for us to look at the menu at the same time. I had expressed the concern that we only had one menu so instead of grabbing another paper menu they just returned later hoping that we had had enough time to look at the menu and decide what we want between both of us passing the menu back and forth which I find kind of odd. I ordered a coffee with my meal and had to wait until she was walking by me pick up my cup real quick pretend to be drinking some and set it down so that she could see that it wasn't full and I needed a refill even though I needed a refill quite a lot sooner than that and it really wasn't that busy unfortunately if they had a full house without restrictions I don't know if I would have gotten any second cup of coffee at all. Overall though she was very nice and she was very respectful when she did give a refill she did not bring out extra cream or sugar to the table so my second cup of coffee did not have the cream that I was desiring so it was an okay cup of coffee but for the price that I'm paying in the teacup size coffee cups that they give I made sure I drank the full cup. When we talk about the food my wife who ordered the Bacon bowl was very pleased with what she got. I was also happy with the burger which was very good but the onion rings did not have any taste it tasted like grease and bread crumbs and I was not impressed. I probably would not order the onion rings from this facility again. I gave it four stars because I believe that with everything that's going on and everything that's happening with the world today restaurants sometimes struggle with certain things but the quality of food should not be one of them and they struggled this time with the quality of food and a tiny bit with the service. I hope this is not something that happens often but I will say that overall my experience was positive there and I would recommend that if you're in the area and you would like a quick place to have inside dining and sit down and have a bite to eat try it out. read more

I love IHOP, though I don't eat here all the time because the calorie count on my favorite dishes must be insane. I was really, really nervous about stopping here because of all the reviews about bad wait times and I came hungry. I expected a long wait but to my surprise we were sat immediately and shortly after our food came promptly out. Maybe I got lucky and should have played the lottery that same night. Food was typical IHOP grub. My table got pancakes, French toast and some bacon. I have to say all was well from the food and even the prompt service, nothing short of what I expected visiting IHOP. Note, I did arrive about 8:30am so I'm not sure if that is the difference between my amazing prompt service compared to those past reviews warning of long wait times. Normally coming from northern NYS I stop at IHOP Albany but I couldn't wait the extra 15-20 miles down the thruway so that's what prompted me to pull over to this location. A freshly baked Belgian waffle and a substantial serving of battered chicken strips, very freshly cooked and almost too hot to eat, they were juicy with a nice well seasoned crust. Go to Cracker Barrel 5 minutes down the road instead. Any wait there would be better than going here. The staff was deceptive and failed to properly wear masks. Further, alleged "corporate policy" made seating our group together (even in the same side of the resting) impossible. Myself and six friends went to the Cracker Barrel first yesterday morning. We were told it would be an 80 minute wait there so we called IHOP and, after they confirmed almost no wait, we decided to move. Upon arrival at the restaurant my brother was told that we could not seat the seven of us together, but four of us would have to sit on the left side of the restaurant and the other three would have to sit on the right side of the restaurant. When we asked why the waitress said it was the law. When we said that it most certainly was not, that we had visited several restaurants in the area and been able to see all seven of us, we were originally told that "we should know the law" before the staff recanted saying its was corporate policy and not a law. Frustrated we decided to leave. The staff did apologize but felt the need to say they "took COVID seriously." My entire party was wearing masks and have strenuously adhered to guidelines so you can image my frustration. It was at this point I pointed out that all three of the servers I had seen so far were not wearing their masks properly, all of them had their noses exposed. Luckily, as soon as we left the restaurant, Cracker Barrel texted us and said that our table was ready a mere 30 minutes after we had checked in with them originally. That location was prompt, courteous, and delicious. I don't know what the true issue was at this location. I could guess at their reasons; maybe it was a corporate edict or they didn't like our accents or clothes. I really can't say. I can say that it was a terrible experience, even if it only lasted a few minutes, and while I intend to visit the region in the future I will never go back to this IHOP. read more

It's an IHOP, sometimes the foods hit or miss but most of the time it's good. Really it depends on what you order and if you eat here enough you know what to stay away from. I often order delivery and they usually give me extra sauce for free without even having to ask. IHOP is affordable and I know what to expect. We had excellent service here today, and at the relatively dreary confines of the IHOP, that means a lot towards taking the usual subdiner experience and elevating it to the acceptably OK range. I was also surprised a bit at their new melt lineup - I had an egg, spinach, and roasted red pepper sandwich, albeit on butter-swaddled white toast, that was actually remarkably close to being tasty. Am I undermining a relatively positive IHOP experience with lowered expectations based on past experience? OH YEAH you betcha. That said, I was awfully close to bumping up this IHOP to unheard of for the genre four star territory based on staff karma after the host came running after us with a pair of mislaid gloves (really nice folks at this location), but IHOP price shock simply won't allow me to do so. For KIDS meals, I paid close to $6 each for pancake(s), drinks not included (a non-refilled six ounce plastic milk cup ran me $2 a kid) plus $4 for a side of fruit, cashing me out with the chilluns' meals actually more expensive than mine at $11 + tax and tip each. Competing similar chains, such as the nearby Friendly's or Denny's, are not nearly as brutal on the pocketbook, and at most diners when you order the kids meals you get a drink and a dessert included with a kiddy choice and a side. Without greater consistency from the chain, there's no discernible advantage to eating here unless you have an absolute jones for pancakes and corn syrup and there's no alternative diner location at hand. And bless you, staff of the Clifton Park IHOP, you were pretty awesome today but that gets you the three star review on charm, while my wallet silently weeps at having paid twice as much here for lunch as I would've at Panera and half again as much as at Friendly's, where we would've gotten mediocre ice cream and fake whipped cream desserts for our trouble. We sat for about 50 minutes and never met our server. Someone else in the restaurant had to take our order after we sat there for 10 minutes. Meanwhile everyone that were seated after us were met by their servers immediately. The only thing they gave us were our drinks. I sincerely hope someone from the restaurant or the corporation see this and send someone to evaluate the staff. We never got our food and had to leave to go elsewhere. I order from IHOP via Grubhub a bunch because my husband likes the blueberry pancakes with raspberry sauce. I'm not such a fan tho. They're very hit or miss. Like today they forgot two items from our order. I find the pancakes and French toast to be dry and flavorless. Steak has been good at times and bad others. The LARGE orange juices we ordered seemed like smalls to us. The omelette I received left a lot to be desired. It arrived cold, with large chunks of raw onion. Today's order might be my last. I order food from the Clifton Park IHOP 1-2 times a week, so I can say with certainty that my input is not based on a single visit, but 8-10 times monthly. This is not my 1st time leaving comments on this peticular location, but I think its helpful to show the consistency of a resturaunt. I absolutely love the breakfast food from IHOP. I always order the same thing, so I know that the food is cooked and prepared the same almost every single time. Very rarely has a portion size different from the last, or not cooked exactly as I have asked for. I order from GrubHub so I do take into consideration the amount of time it takes to get from the resturaunt to my table, and as long as the driver doesn't make any stops on the way to me, my food is always still warm or hot. They do a really good job at this location, and I am very picky with food so it is somewhat rare for me to not only praise a resturaunt, but order only from this one place for a peticular meal. So thank you IHOP! You have kept me as a loyal customer over the years, and I will continue to get my weekend breakfast from you for as long as I continue to get it the way I have been.....which is perfect. My family has been coming to this IHOP location for years and have seen a very steady decline in the quality of service. Last night was the final time for us going to this IHOP. 7/3/18 we walked in and knowone is to be found. After 2-3 minutes the hostess comes out and takes forever to seat us. Mind you the place is dead with only 4 tables with people. We sit and get our menus and don't see a waitress for over 5 minutes. Why? Because they were in the back room talking and not paying attention. 2 waitress on for 5 tables and slow as molasses. Our waitress comes to our table and no I'm sorry or explanation. Only reason she came over is I got up to get her. The previous time we were at this ihop we sat for 10 minutes and that is not a stretch with no wait staff so we walked out. Our order was done right but when the food comes out she doesn't have my 7 year olds. Everyone knows you bring the kids plate out first especially a hungry kid. Food was good and hot so kudos to the cook. However the wait staff Sucks and has no idea how to do their jobs. The burger wasn't that good (not bad but nothing special) and certainly not worth the considerable wait. They weren't busy and several rounds of burgers could have been cooked in the time it took for us to get ours. I would have been hard pressed to distinquish their offering from a Five Guys burger and they would have delivered it in 5 minutes with fries that were fresh and plentiful for about the same price if you exclude a tip, which we always include. That means quadruple the wait for 20 % more $ when all is considered . Our table agreed that IHOP didn't earn any burger rights, stick to breakfast. read more

Pros: + Darn you and your delicious fluffy pancakes IHOP, they're so FLLUUUUFFFFFFAYYYYYY! + All day breakfast, even at night. Cons - I think being here drunk is better, the service catastrophes aren't as noticeable. - Food is late, warm but late. Like hour wait from seat to eat. No good. - Service only seems to care if you speak up, so don't come with high expectations. - The food is just ok. Even the pancakes seem a bit overcooked. Perhaps the restaurant is just to big, or maybe the kitchen to small, but whatever the problem is, they seem to have difficulties. The location on Wolff used to be the bad one, but I think in the past couple years, they may have role reversed. Been here several times before and most of the time the service is Fantastic and friendly, fast and the food is EXCELLENT - this time however it was like eating at a different location. We were seated right away and our server was very nice, came right over my son and I knew right what he wanted. I'm on a very restricted diet at the moment so I only got tea, and he got the brioche french toast well 20 some minutes later the couple at the table next to us was like you still didn't get your food yet? We noticed the waitress was talking to an elderly man in the corner showing him pictures on her phone, the couple flagged down THEIR waitress and stated - they still don't have their food. well his food finally comes out and it's COLD - so they're all - we'll refire some for you. My son was hungry and was just wanting to eat what he had. They were going to cook us some new ones anyway (which in hindsight I should have let them so he'd have some extra here at home but I didn't - as I was hoping they would just take them off the bill - which they did not!) I was not happy at all with how they were going to remedy the situation, his hashbrowns were almost raw and his food was pretty much sitting there a while as his chocolate chips weren't even melting on the food or the plate. IT's gonna be a while before we go back there. I should have not left a tip at ALL - but I did - because I wanted to teach my son that everyone has hard days, and that is how waitresses make their money, and it's how she supports her family and as someone who has waitressesed you never know when that extra $2 means milk or no milk read more

I haven't been to this IHOP in a year. It was partly by choice since I think this place is expensive for breakfast. I returned since I had a coupon for my free birthday breakfast, which is a Rooty Tooty. Nothing about this IHOP has changed since then, which is a good thing as their service and quality remained equal. This place was certainly dead on a weekday morning. Including myself, I occupied one of three tables in the whole restaurant. The plus side of the quiet atmosphere was that my breakfast got cooked very quickly (~6 minutes after ordering). My server was Shannon, and she was really nice. She has a very infectious smile that would make even the most miserably scrooge happy. Overall, this IHOP is still a nice place to eat, but it'll most likely be another year before I return since I'm not a fan of paying $11 total for breakfast. read more
