The Rusty Nail is probably best known as one of the places to go on your birthday to receive free chicken wings equaling your age on that birthday. This was the second occasion of my being invited by someone who was celebrating their birthday there. I'm not a big fan of chicken wings so I also don't consider myself a connoisseur. On this visit there were nine of us celebrating the birthday boy's 65th. I figured I was entitled to seven wings from the six different flavors that were ordered. I was satisfied after tasting just one from each flavor. All the wings were very crispy and the flats were a bit moister than the drums. In fact, my least favorite was a parmesan garlic drumstick. It came with no sauce, so it seemed extra dry. Treating the wings as my appetizer, I ordered The Heater from their Specialty Sandwiches and substituted sweet potato fries for regular fries. Served in a toasted hoagie were shaved Italian steak, sauteed peppers, onions, jalapeños, queso cheese, and melted pepper jack. My first thought was that the hoagie was going to be too massive and too much bread. But to my surprise, the bread was so fresh and soft that it easily compressed around the filling allowing the filling to be the star of each bite. The steak was tender and flavorful, there was not too much spiciness from the various peppers, and there was plenty of moisture. The sandwich was served while still very hot as were the sweet potato fries. Wings and sandwich, all went well with my pint of Guinness. They do not take reservations and will not seat your party until all members of your party are present. They will add you to the waiting list before all of your party is present. Once we were added to the waitlist it was thirty minutes before the rest of our party arrived due to traffic delays. It was then another thirty minutes before we were seated. This was a Tuesday starting about 5:30 p.m. I'd suggest aiming for a weekday after lunch if you have more than four people in a birthday celebration. The Rusty Nail won best wings of the Capital Region and they do a birthday special of free wings equal to your age. These two things made me very curious to try the wings at this local spot when I was in town. It was unfortunately not my birthday so I did not yet free wings but I did get a ton of wings! You can only choose one sauce type per order so we ended up getting 4 different flavors of wings: medium buffalo, barbeque, sweet Thai chili, and honey stung. Some we got boneless and some bone in. Overall, wings were great! I'm not sure id say best I've had. The space was a pretty loud and wait staff wasn't the most attentive. We ordered a sandwich to go for my sister and they made the wrong sandwich, and we had to wait while they remade it. read more

The chili which is brainless isn't my favorite, not much flavor to it. Order a side of fries, so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Definitely a must have. Had a great time at the Rusty Nail to celebrate a friend's birthday. They have the same owners as Bentleys and The Mill (if I'm not mistaken). Bentleys is known for this birthday wing thing...show up on your actual birthday (bring your ID!)...and you get your age- worth of wings for free. There are some rules...you can't take them home and there's a charge for any left over. Blue cheese or ranch are extra. Order incrementally. All quite fair, honestly. Well it's not just Bentley's that does this... Rusty Nail does this wing-thing too (I had no idea). I was with a group of 8 (they don't take reservations and only seat you when your party is all there). Besides wings, there were orders of fish and chips, burgers, nachos, hummus, mozzarella sticks and Bavarian pretzels. Everything was served piping hot and we were happy to have items delivered as they emerged from the kitchen. I had a few of the wings and thought the bbq was the best flavor of the 3 I tasted. Buffalo wings were mild-a but too mild for me -but the mango habanero had an excellent spice level (I just didn't taste mango....it was more like sweet and sour with a solid heat). So, I am at the Rusty Nail in Clifton Park, New York. Nice, clean, casual location. Love the layout. Open bar area and the dining is divided by a wall. The young lady taking my order is awesome. Always smiling and running around like a rabbit in a carrot field. Never missing a beat. I heard the wings are the best here and I have been hankering (is this really a word?) for wings. Oh the bourbon glaze is to die for. Extra crispy, blue cheese with the glaze. Can't ask for anything better. I will be back. Eat your age in "free" wings on your birthday at the Rusty Nail ?! It's apparently an idea that many people feel they need to experience at least once. In this case, a friend was celebrating a birthday and I kept company. I admit--it was both fun and delicious-- and I've come to the conclusion that most people can't eat nearly as many wings as they think. To make this promotion work you must be at least 21, show up on your actual birthday and bring a photo id. Since there were 2 of us, they started us off with 10 wings apiece, so we had 20 altogether and we only finished 17! Still, we had such a good time. The servers and bartenders were so nice and helpful. Even with plenty of seating the place was packed. It looked as though there were others also enjoying birthday wings. The Rusty Nail is an awesome sports bar. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching college football with our meal. We also ordered fries and a salad -- in an effort to be healthy-- and wound up taking half of the salad home. Please note, there is a built-in gratuity fee. Found this place on a list of best wings in the Albany area. I believe it! I got there Rosi they opened 11 AM on Monday. It was long for the restaurant was almost full. I sat at the bar and had an amazing service by the bartenders . I got 10 wings medium. They had an amazing flavor. Not hot, I should've got hot for that. But juicy and cooked perfect! Hit or miss experience. I went for my 27th birthday and got our 27 chicken wings. Started with Blue Heat which is blue cheese & buffalo sauce as well as the honey bbq! The bbq were cooked odd or maybe the sauce?? They were really dry. Our first server also seemed to not like us...? She just seemed rude sadly but maybe it was due to shift change? My friend lost a bet and owed me wings so we came here. Let me say up front that it was packed (with a long wait... on a Tuesday night?), loud, and crammed full of people. "Crazy" might be a good adjective. But we came for wings, and after waiting a bit were finally seated. Cutting to the quick: the wings were fantastic! We tried three flavors: medium Buffalo; Bourbon Glaze; and the flavor of the week Citrus Chipotle Barbecue. The wings were very large, cooked perfectly, sauced well, and came warm with ranch (or blue cheese) and celery. It was hard to eat on our tiny cramped table with three full plates of wings, plus our own plates, but we managed. I thought the Buffalo was excellent and the other two were good, though after a few they just tasted sweet. In particular, the Citrus Chipotle BBQ never rose to the occasion and the flavor nuances of the three sauces were lost. I had a few minor quibbles. First, after dropping off our food our waitress never checked on us and I would have loved a refill. So I ate ice for over 20 minutes. I could have flagged down a waitress or wandered off with my cup but they were busy and I didn't want to bother them. In fact, another waitress came and got me a refill so perhaps mine was on break? Also, $16 for ten wings seems expensive. You get discounts as you order more but you can't break up the flavors. Our bill for 30 wings, a wine and a soda was $70+ dollars. Worth it? Yes. (Says the man who didn't have to pay because he won the bet) But pricey all the same. Maybe that is the standard rate now? I will be back, perhaps on my birthday, but certainly soon because the wings were that good. But maybe at lunch time, when it is (hopefully) more relaxed inside. Note: we came back two weeks later for my wife's birthday and the wings were still good, though one batch of Medium Buffalo was simply inedible. The wings had a pool of what looked like red grease under them and no vinegar flavor or heat whatsoever. First off, the overall vibe here is fun and relaxing. There is a wait and they do not take reservations. It's usually very busy during peak hours but the staff does their best to get you seated quickly. Lotsa television screens for sports and there's quick draw lottery to play which I really like! They have a few birthday specials as well but they have a list of rules that come along with. Not to worry though as they will give it to you in written form if you are there for a birthday celebration. As for myself, I happened to have a hankering for wings. They have a good amount of flavors to choose from. On their menu, you will see their included flavors along with other flavors that are considered premium for a small up charge. In my opinion, their menu has a good amount of choices along with salads and you will find something that calls out to you. Your cravings here, will definitely be satisfied. Every now and again, I do enjoy some good wings that are crisp and flavorful along with a burger that's cooked perfectly. For those that like a good beverage, they do have some cocktails as well as a decent beer selection. All in all, this establishment provides a fun place to gather, and unwind for a fun time. My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now. We finally gave it a shot along with my mom. At first glance we had our reservations because the service seemed to be slow, but they were getting packed fast (and they just opened for the day). After that though it was all smooth sailing. We ordered wings and mozzarella sticks for apps. Then we ordered French dip , fish fry and the Cole 45 burger. EVERYTHING was great, we were so thankful to finally give it a try. Excellent chicken wings, and a good spot for some legit hot ones if you enjoy over the top spice like I do. They offer the "insane" sauce which is likely a bit of Dave's Gourmet insanity with regular hot buffalo wing sauce -- very tasty and it will make you sweat if you enjoy that with your wings (as I do). The kitchen or waitress got the entree salad mixed up - or it was missing some listed ingredients - but it was about 930pm on a Friday night and we didn't want to be annoying so we let it slide. The Heater sandwich was missing the queso but had the pepper jack on top, so again just let it slide. A guy at the table nearby was dropping he F bomb every other word and banging on the table for about 10-15 minutes and nobody said anything - I think he had a bet on the Yankees game and it didn't go well - so that was a bit distracting. The hostess who took our name and told us about a 30 minute wait could not have been more rude if she wanted to. She begrudgingly brought over a high chair and i had left an open spot at our table for her so the little one would be seated between her two parents. But no this lady just dropped the chair and rammed it into the existing adult chair and walked away. I had to move it. And the end of our meal my wife got up and went to pay our bill. Our waitress was at the cashier checking someone out and asked the hostess if she could ring my wife out. At this polite request the hostess said do it yourself i'm busy. Spoiler alert... she wasn't. My family was meeting me here for my birthday I decided to go early to get a table and order apps and a drink but they wouldn't let me until my whole party showed. Then when we did food and service was great but we had some wings left over and they immediately took them and said we can't take them home we have to throw them out. I just didn't understand the concept of that. Completely wasting food. After dinner my family brought a few desserts (crumbl cookies and a slice of cake) we were told we weren't allowed to eat those there. Had lunch with my granddaughter today at Rusty Nail. This was my second time eating here and my granddaughters first. We enjoyed an appetizer of wings, their flavor today was with a Caribbean flavor which included pineapple and a mild spicy flavor. Different and definitely tasty, never saw this flavor before. I had the basic Fish & Chips and she had the Stingin' Honey Chicken sandwich. Both were cooked to perfection. Our service was also excellent with our waitress Miranda checking back multiple times to ensure we needed nothing and filling our glasses when ever needed without us asking.
