    Plain Burger

Quiet little place on a Thursday night, at first the waitress was stand-off ish. Became more friendly when she realized she knew the people joining us. Wings were very large but, had an odd taste. Blue cheese dressing was delicious. Fresh fries were also good, just a bit undercooked. 3 of 4 of us got the seafood special. Clams, shrimp, scallops in white wine butter sauce over linguine, mine over GF penne. It was good BUT, left a great deal to be desired for flavor all three of us had to add so much cheese and black pepper. DEF NOT worth the $38 for Reg or $40 for GF! The burger was cooked just right & flavorful. Not sure I'd recommend this place or that I'll be back.

My boyfriend got this French onion soup to start. He said it was delicious!

We stopped in here for dinner tonight as we'd been wanting to check it out. I haven't been in since it was called Bentley's, same name as the other one near Dunning Street, so it's been a long time. The atmosphere was nice, ambient lighting and nice wood on the walls. We were given a nice spot in the front. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. She took good care of us. The food was great, very fresh. Their fries are fresh cut on site and everything was fantastic. Prices were very reasonable for the huge potion sizes. We were too full to check out dessert but maybe next time. We will definitely be back. Thanks, Andy's!

Salmon special with sundried tomato hollandaise

We went here Wednesday night and were also here over a month ago and pleasantly surprised at the food each time. More of a mom and pop type atmosphere and we prefer to sit on the porch with the natural light, the dining room is a bit dark. I've ordered the waffle fries and salmon both times and it was so good. I ordered the salmon special this week with the sundried tomatoes hollandaise and julienne veggies and prefer it to the regular menu item. My husband had a perfectly crispy chicken parm and previously had the pizza. Best Shirley temples around and attentive service. Lots of menu items I'd like to try in the future.

For years we've driven by Andy's and wondered if the place was worth checking out. Now we know we've experienced many missed opportunities. The menu leans toward Italian dishes, and we already had plans to go to a different Italian restaurant tomorrow, so we shied away from the obvious Italian food and made mental notes to return in the future if we had a good experience tonight. There was a nice selection of craft beers on tap from which we settled on pints of Wolf Hollow's Lock 9 Porter ($6.50) and Adirondack Bear Naked Ale ($6). Both of these brews have lots of flavor. One of the day's specials was their Tomato Bisque ($4.25/cup). My wife ordered it and while it could have been served hotter, it tasted really great. A little bit of sweetness, but thick with pieces of tomato. My wife also ordered the Phelps Philly ($12.95) sandwich with optional waffle fries ($1.50) in place of their skin-on, fresh cut French fries. As the name would imply, there was a slight resemblance to a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. In a fresh baguette roll was thin sliced beef sautéed with onions and peppers all topped with mozzarella. A side of delicious au jus was also provided for dipping. We both agreed that this was a really tasty and filling sandwich that would be worth ordering again. I decided to try the Big Slide Burger ($13.95) with optional sweet potato fries ($1.50) and Melba on the side. The patty is a half-pound of freshly ground sirloin, flame grilled, served topped with apple wood smoked bacon, bleu cheese sauce, and as I write this I realize that I never got the onion rings mentioned on the menu. But I have to say that I apparently didn't miss those rings because the flavors that came through from the beef, bacon and sauce on the fresh brioche roll were excellent. The pieces of bacon that extended beyond the roll, I broke off and added to the bacon on top of the patty. Nice crispy crunch with each bite. I was never asked how I wanted my burger cooked, so I was really surprised to find it cooked to a perfect medium-rare. It's so nice to have a burger with so much flavor without having to resort to adding more than two toppings. I had heard a dessert being described to another table but was already quite full after cleaning my plate. But I asked anyway and our server described a chocolate cake with a peanut butter ganache frosting ($9.95). He had me at "peanut butter." I asked to have it packed to go. Once at home later in the evening, my wife and I opened the container and were amazed with how the top layer looked like at least an inch thick of peanut butter on top. We were expecting it to be very heavy. But we were pleased to find that the chocolate cake portion was very moist and the ganache was much lighter and creamer than expected. Such a large portion, there will still be some to enjoy again tomorrow. Service was excellent and the casual environment with pine, wood paneling even gives you a bit of that Adirondack feel.

We ate the food before thinking we should have taken a picture. So here is a picture of my kitty, Mia.

We went to Andy's today, late afternoon. I ordered a burger which was cooked medium rare and was perfect, with cheddar, and NO tomato or lettuce please! I chose fries for the side, I do love their freshly cooked fries. My son had the linguine alfredo and added shrimp - five huge shrimp. It was delicious. Yes, I had to taste it just to make sure it was ok for him to eat. I did share my fries with him tho. We took home two chicken parm dinners. One to share later and one for my husband who practically inhaled half of the huge portion. The dinners came with salads and fresh rolls too. We thanked our waitress, Tammy, for our excellent service while she was able to service the entire restaurant. I asked her, since she seemed like a "seasoned" pro, how long has she been a waitress... she's only been at it for three weeks. She's that good. Thank you Tammy, you're a natural

Awesome little place. My wife had the fish and chips, while I had an Adirondak Burger with Waffle Fries. Both were very well prepared and presented. I recommend this restaurant.

The common ordinary comfort food, plain, predictable, uninspiring…read more The soup that warmed us up as kids, was the fallback when there was really no time to cook lunch, yeah, good ole tomato soup, we all know its story. Enter the chefs at the Ripe Tomato. No canned Campbell's or Sysco soup for them. This dish (I believe it was called Tomato Soup with Dill and Crab) comes to life in the Ripe Tomato kitchen from scratch, with chunks of tomato and some onion, a bit of dill, and a generous amount of crab meat. I asked and yes, it IS real lump crab meat, not that pathetic imitation stuff that some think can be sold as "crab". Add in a pinch of dill, and whatever it takes to make the soup delightfully creamy without being thick and pasty, and the creation is ready to serve. This dish above all else demonstrates my long held belief that superb cooking does not need a French name, unpronounceable ingredients, an hour's waiting time, being served in some sort of exquisite china by snobby haughty waiters, to be magical and engaging. Ordinary everyday food, and nothing is more ordinary and everyday than tomato soup, can become an experience and not just part of a meal; an amazing surprise that rocks one's understanding of what dish can and should be; in the hands of a talented and inspired chef. The Ripe Tomato has become our favorite lunch spot in the Tri-Cities. If we went out for dinner, it would be our favorite dinner spot. Warm, homey, welcoming, without pretense or glitter, when we walk in the door we feel at home. The place is real and enjoyable. Service is excellent, prompt, always considerate and friendly. The service is such that it is easy to feel that you are at your friend's place, and they made some special meals that they want to share. Lest you think that culinary excellence is going to cost an arm and a leg, I had an enormous and delicious order of quiche for an entree with my soup; my wife had a large Bahama Salad with enough tender juicy chicken for 2 meals, and the price was the same as 2 burgers at Red Robin. Granted that would be 2 of their fancier burgers, but tell me - what would YOU rather eat? I am running out of time here, but I want to assure you that the entrees live up to the expectations generated by the soup.

I brought my mother and her friend to Ripe Tomato because we had always spoken highly of it, and her friend had never been there before. Unfortunately, it turned into an embarrassing experience after all the praise we gave it. My mother ordered the pot roast, which was supposed to include carrots and rolls. The meal arrived without the carrots, and when I politely asked about them, the bus girl rolled her eyes at us. The carrots finally came after my mother was basically finished eating, and the rolls never came at all. Our friend ordered the Haddock Almondine, which was missing the mashed potatoes that were supposed to come with the meal. Again, attitude when we asked about it. To top it off, I never received a place setting when we were seated, and when I asked for one, the same bus girl slammed it down on the table. I do want to say the waitress herself was pleasant, and I understand restaurants can be short-staffed and mistakes happen. Missing items can be corrected. Rude behavior and dismissive attitudes toward customers are a different story. What disappointed me even more was that I attempted to bring these concerns directly to management privately before posting a public review. I sent two polite emails explaining the experience, and both were met with complete silence -- not even the courtesy of an acknowledgment or response. A little professionalism and customer service would have gone a long way.

Located right on the corner of U.S. Route 9 and Malta Ave in Ballston Spa, the outside is pretty low-key. The parking lot was a bit dark, with most of the light coming from the building itself but don't let that fool you. You walk in and you're right at the bar , with plenty of seating barside or table, if that's your vibe. Not into sitting up front? No problem, there's additional seating in the back for a more relaxed feel. Service was a win. Our waiter was courteous, attentive, and accommodating without hovering. Now the food, the Gooouda Burger caught my eye immediately. I ordered it bunless, wrapped in buttery romaine lettuce, topped with crispy bacon and fried onions. Paired it with their straw fries (seriously good) and a cold beer to wash it down. First bite? Exactly what you want. Food to temp, everything was crisp not soggy, the burger was cooked perfectly, even at well done, which is not easy to pull off. I can only speak for the burger, but based on that alone: don't judge this place by its exterior. Give it a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised. I'm glad I decided to take her up on the suggestion, it was incredible! Dock Brown's overlooks this cute little "postcard" beach. The tables directly overlook the beach and water. The area is well-shaded and the slight breeze off the water is incredibly refreshing on a warm summer beach day! The service was impeccable from start to finish. Our server was incredibly attentive and was on top of things. He helped guide us to what is the most popular on their menu, as well as his personal favorites. We started off with Cocktails and Mocktails. We both ordered the "Honeybee". The tea, lemonade, honey, lemon, and mint concoction was incredibly flavorful and refreshing, without being overly sweet. Given I don't drink, I ordered it as a Mocktail. It was equally delicious and refreshing. The only difference was the straw and no alcohol. For lunch, I already had my mind made up after my first look at the menu. I ordered the Fish and Chips. My guest went with the Cold Lobster Roll. Both come with coleslaw and hand-cut fries. The food arrived and it made quite the impression! The portions are absolutely massive and PLENTY of food! My fish and chips was nearly falling off the plate, it had to EASILY be half a fish or more! The hand-cut fries were to die for, hands-down THE BEST I have had in my life. The side that comes with the meal is plenty, so no need to share with anyone! My guest remarked about how fresh, light, and delicious their lobster roll was. They liked that is wasn't "drowned" in mayo like you see at many other places that serve lobster rolls. She equally enjoyed the hand-cut fries and fresh coleslaw. For dessert, we ordered the house specialty: Key Lime Pie. It was out-of-this world. As a Key Lime Pie fanatic, it checked every box and hit the spot! If you're looking for a lunch with a beach view in Saratoga, you have to come by Dock Brown's. Be sure to order "The Honeybee"! I promise it doesn't sting!

First of all, their menu is limited, sandwiches (chicken, burger, hot dog, sausage, egg), tenders, fries, rings, mozzarella sticks, hash browns, poppers and drinks. Maybe it'll expand in the future. My first experience was trying the Sausage, Pepper & Onion sandwich ($9) and Onion Rings ($4). Keeping in mind that I've generally made at least one annual excursion to a competitor about 2,000 feet East on this road to satisfy my sausage sandwich and onion ring craving for the last 25 years, I was curious if anything here would come close to satisfying. While we waited for our order, we spoke with the wife of the husband-and-wife team owning the food truck. Very personable people. Our food was obviously made-to-order since we waited at least 10 minutes for the carryout container to be handed to us. Opening the container at home was the first surprise. Expecting to see a sausage patty on a hamburger bun, instead we saw a long link of sausage on a section of a sub-style roll - think county-fair sausage peppers and onions. This sausage was delicious. It had good texture, flavor, and spiciness. Peppers were a combination of chopped red, yellow, and green, and the onions did not overpower. The roll was fresh and soft. This may be my new preference. The onion rings were a surprise also. The coating was thick, very crunchy, and did not fall off the onion. The other standout was that there was no oily mess. Even as they later cooled, they did not have that lingering taste of oil. There is no question that I'll be back to try something else. Parking is available behind the food truck.
