Flavor on the food was just lacking. Even the Vermont cheddar cheese was bland and only a whisper of sharpness. The home made chips good but lacked anything special. The true problem of this place is the ownership/management. We went there little after it opened. To see a table with a 5 gallon bucket of utensils and servers doing their side work on a table you have to walk past to get to anywhere in the seating area. Then we come to the management/owner. My biggest pet peeve is doing the books or daily paperwork in the guest area. You have an office or a place away from your guests. Not in full view and with in ear shot of your guests. And not in a place where sound carries. The BIGGEST complaint is the language. You are the leader of your staff. You set an example for the behavior and attitude of your staff. Dropping F-BOMBS and other vulgar language is not at anytime acceptable. Clearly the servers knew it and didn't thankfully follow your lead. This is NOT your buddies garage or basement. You are having people come in and hearing your language and seeing and clearly hearing your behavior I can not recommend going here. If it was based on food maybe. But clearly the ownership and leadership will keep me away from here. Such potential wasted by such poor work ethics.

After checking Yelp for suggestions, Crescent Wrench popped up as a suggestion. A short time later we arrived at the Wrench. Upon entering the Barmaid/Waitress greeted us with a warm hello. We took a table and were immediately asked what beverage we wanted. We each found something off the menu that sounded good. I ordered the hot Italian Combo which came with fries. My wife had the hamburger quesadilla and she loved it. Both were hot and very good. The Tavern isn't huge, but it is cozy and this is what I'd call a Home Town Tavern.

This restaurant housed Pam's pub and was probably taken on by new management in the last year or so. Overall the place is a perfect place if you like to watch football. The place was packed with football enthusiasts watching the game, drinking beer, refilling popcorn and screaming as their team scores or messes up. This is a true American joint with typical American food. Wings were decent, quesadilla, macaroni salad and fries were great. I'm yet to eat the wrap as I was stuffed and had to bring it home. Overall a great place that's tucked away in a strip mall. Most of the seating is on bar stools with swivel chairs that actually gets you a better view of different games.

What a nice little spot inside this building. First off, I recommend looking inside the bar area…read morebefore being sat, as there is a much larger dining area in the back room with the bar. When you walk in, it looks like a very small tasting area, but the music is playing and it's much more to look at than the tables in the entrance way. Service was quite friendly and they are smart to have the tap list on a larger chalkboard right inside the door, so making up your mind on what VT beer to enjoy takes less time to decide. Had to order the spicy deep fried cheese curds and these were fantastic. Just enough spice and perfect little guilt-free bites of curds. Mmmm. For my meal, I decided on the Chicken Caesar wrap (one of their specials for the day) and was less thrilled about this choice. It was served grilled and hot, so a warm, thin layer of lettuce, with a grilled chicken (2-3 solid pieces) in there. Dressing was served on the side and the menu made no mention of any of this, so it was boring and lacked any real flavors unless you dipped it into the dressing very awkwardly. My buddy's chicken sandwich lacked any sort of flavor as well. Fries (both sweet potato and regular) were super heavy on salt. Beer was solid, so it washed down a very mediocre, salty meal after starting off with a bang with those curds. Bummer. I guess I'll stick with strictly appetizers on my next visit.

Crowd was pretty good for a later dining time and during Covid. Waitress was quick to take drink orders and they had a nice selection of local beers. We just went for apps this night. Potstickers, pretzel and the cheesesteak egg rolls. All were tasty but the egg rolls were the star. Tasty and cooked right. Potstickers had a great dipping sauce and were a nice mix of crispy and chewy. Only down side is that the entrance door opens to the outside and doesn't self-close. A few patrons left door open and the diners had to get up and close as it was bitter cold this night. Small parking lot but the if you need to park a bock away, it's a nice little walk. There were kids here and definitely kid friendly.

Everything is really fresh, and made to order. The fish is freshly battered (so are the shrimp), and the portions are great. I also recommend the burgers, they are not anything crazy gourmet, but they are fresh, and for only a little more than the place with the arches down the road, you get something that you know is real, freshly prepared, and on an amazing bun. The chicken tenders are the only thing that's just kinda OK, but only because they don't make them in-house. They work for a picky kid, but otherwise stick with the other stuff on the menu. I haven't tried the pies, but they are freshly made there too. There is also a little assortment of British food and candy there, which might be something a little fun that you don't normally find here. Not a great spot to bring a big group, but very worth stopping in if you want a quick bite while you are passing through downtown Bennington.
