My boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch because we were craving some juicy burgers and this place hit the spot. We were immediately seated, everyone had smiles on their faces which was nice to see, place was clean and had a nice tavern vibe.. I went to Maxon's to get a quick bite and have a beer at the bar while watching some sports on a Saturday night. The beer list was decent and I ordered the dip roast beef sub. The sandwich was awesome!! Hot and delicious with some really tasty au jus for dipping. The tots as a side is a perfect combo. It takes some time for the food to come out but it's fresh and definitely worth the wait. I somehow ended up meeting the owner at the bar while eating and both her and all the employees were very friendly and great to hang out with. Mixed experiences. 1st trip was great and the food offerings were on par. We sat in the patio on a nice Summer afternoon. Server was attentive and we really enjoyed the experience. Good apps, salads and meals. 2nd trip we sat in the dining room with a sparse crowd. We had the same server so we expected the same decent service, but we had empty glasses and felt fairly ignored. Next try we'll sit in the bar area. It's good cool decor and looks like the best spot to enjoy the ambiance. read more

Eight of us got together for a Sunday evening supper at 5:00. Our opinion: The food was very good, actually much better than Druthers and Ravenswood. The pretzels app was great. We also shared the brisket soft tacos--three of them--filled generously. The French Dip was the choice of two of us. The steak was tender, and the au jus was flavorful. The sides we selected were mashed potatoes which were delicious! We also ordered sides of the horseradish dip which was outstanding! The salad side was large and full of the usual veggies. Nice! Several Burgers of various types were enjoyed very much. The Chips were 5 stars! They were a little thicker than elsewhere and fried perfectly. Worthy of taking home the extras. Only negative (for second time here) was the Mac and Cheese. Even though it is creamy, it lacks much needed cheese flavor. It was the only food item we ordered that was disappointing. Even though the place was almost full, service was great! Efficient and organized. A 25% tip was well deserved! Handicapped parking in the back was ample, and a ramp with a strong railing lead to the entrance. Happy we came here rather than Druthers or Ravenswood, both of which we are familiar with. read more

Always a great time here. Just read the above review. I think people have to understand that just because you close the kitchen doesn't mean that other people aren't eating in there already. And when the kitchen is closed, you certainly have to let people finish their meal. And there's no reason not to serve people at the bar while you're doing that. Everybody said they'd come back. This is our go to place when we don't feel like cooking. Friendly staff, quick service, and everything is made fresh. They have a beautiful patio for outdoor dining too. I love their hand cut fries. Their BLT dip appetizer never disappoints. Their chicken sandwiches are freshly breaded and well seasoned and the gravy they put on the gravy fries (poutine) is so good. And recently on a Tuesday, margaritas were on special. I chose the watermelon one and it was a thing of beauty! Refreshing and delicious. read more

We've always loved Maxon's food!! and we really probably will go back, but we're a little bit burnt from tonight. I get there's a storm coming in. I definitely would want to make sure that my employees are safe.BUT- we live in the Northeast the majority of us probably have SUVs. If not, you're probably not on the road... but you can't be closing the kitchen at 6:30 and just serving drinks. So it's OK if I drink and drive in the ice, but it's not OK if I drink and eat and drive in the ice. As we entered, the Bartender said, "we're not open for food, but you can drink what you want.."somethings wrong with that picture. It was only 6:30 And again, I understand keeping your employees safe, but what I don't understand is why not just close the entire establishment not just the kitchen? Just saying. read more

Excellent service very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and everything that was on it. We were seated promptly when we got here the atmosphere was excellent. The food is fantastic. It is definitely someplace where I would recommend to come and try if you're looking for some delicious cuisine. It is a little bit bit loud, but it is a bar restaurant so that is the only drawback to it. We had a party at Maxon's for a friend's 80th birthday party. The staff was hustling, always helpful, and very friendly. We had a buffet and the food was hot and delicious. What's not yo love about Maxon's, it's beautifully decorated, comfortable seating, amazing staff and delicious food!! You can't go wrong with any on the menu, the Oh Donna Burger and the Breakfast Tots with homemade Sausage Gravy (just ask yo replace the chipotle sauce with the gravy) are my go too's. Oh and the eings with homemade blue cheese are always perfectly cooked. I saved the best for last, the bartenders (Especially Jen) are always happy to help with drink suggestions and up for a friendly conversation. This place is just incredible. read more

Over the Memorial Day weekend, my mom and I were out antiquing and decided to try to find somewhere to eat after picking up a pie at Smith's Orchard. The reviews here looked pretty good and the menu looked perfect for what we like to eat. The weather was beautiful so we decided to eat outdoors. The deck area was nicely decorated. The inside looked comfortable as well. Our server was friendly and prompt. Mom and I decided to share a burger for our lunch. I loved the different unique burgers and decided on the French Onion Burger- it's an au jus version- since I love that style of sandwich. I asked for some horseradish sauce (which I saw on a different burger) and we picked mashed potatoes for the side. It was a difficult choice between that and the tater tots! We ordered the burger medium well. When it came, it didn't have the side of au jus. The server said she didn't know if it came with it (though it said so on the menu) since she was new and had only been there 4 days. When I cut into the burger, it was very red/pink and definitely not medium well. When we told the server, she said she'd ask the kitchen. While we waited, we ate the tasty mashed potatoes. The manager came out and offered to bring us a new burger and even offered a salad while we waited. We decided to get one and share it- it was fresh greens with some tomatoes and cucumbers and great for a warm day. When the new burger arrived, he waited til I cut it to check the doneness. This one was cooked just right. It was a completely new meal, with another side of potatoes. We both really appreciated his prompt and personal attention to our food. I wish all restaurants would respond like that when an error is made. The burger was delicious- even better than an au jus sandwich. Not overly salty and the right amount of cheese and onions. I'd recommend adding the horseradish sauce (which was also yummy mixed in with the potatoes). I'd been looking for a sandwich/salad/burger type place in the Saratoga Springs area, so I'll be back to check out more of the menu. I hope the improper initial cook of the first burger was an anomaly so I can continue to eat here! read more

I went in over the weekend. The fireplace was lit and several of the tables were occupied. The server was extremely friendly and attentive. I needed a break from turkey so I ordered a cheese steak. Had dinner there yesterday with five other friends. The staff was fantastic and the food was absolutely incredible. Everyone in the party enjoyed their meal very much. For something different while out running errands, Maxon's came to mind. We were seated immediately and the drink order was taken. The soup of the day was New England Clam Chowder which we both took advantage of. It was delicious! For lunch my wife ordered the Santa Fe Salad which consisted of Mixed greens, tomato, cucumber, red onion, corn salsa, black beans, cheddar, avocado, crushed tostitos and a chipotle ranch dressing. She added the chicken and absolutely loved it. I ordered the "OH Donna" Burger, It's a half pound patty, topped with bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and our blt dip, served on a pretzel bun. Rainy Saturday night decided to venture out to a new place. Drove in, lots of parking. Entrance is in the rear of the building which is weird. They have this really cute patio seating for a sunny summer day, afternoon or night. Walked into a busy busy place! But we were Sat right away, service was a little slow that's the reason for the -1 star. Food was good, timely and hot. Sorry forgot to take pictures as I was just too hungry. Ordered the Buffalo chicken egg rolls, very yummy. Pretzels can come in garlic parm flavor which is super different and they were delicious. Cobb salad for dinner, very big. Can someone say Fresh cut Fries, just needed to add a little salt! Philly cheese steak was also ordered and that didn't disappoint. Definitely will give it another shot on a nice summer day to be able to enjoy the patio! read more

The restaurant doesn't know what it wants to be. If it's trying to be a neighborhood pub, it's a failure. The food combinations are weird if you are looking for comfort food, and the few standard items on the menu are not executed well (see: fried pickles). If it has aspirations to be some sort of gourmet place, it fails on that level, again because the combination of food is strange and not really upscale either. Maybe once the owner and the chef decide what they want the restaurant to be, it will improve. The former town supervisor made a Herculean effort to attract business to Glenville. Too bad this locally-owned establishment is suffering an identity crisis. read more

Did take out for the bills game. Luckily this place continues to uphold the sports bar in the area. The food is large portioned and takeout is easy. We got wings and cauliflower wings they came with lots of sauce and veggies and real blue cheese. The Maxon's bbq sauce is good but sweet, the medium is not spicy. The cauliflower wings have a good substantial batter to keep the sauce from getting it too soggy too fast, but is one of the very few vegetarian options on the menu. We also split an order of Philly loaded tots. This has great steak and onions. I didn't find any peppers and the cheese sauce is good but doesn't travel for take out as well. Everything was packaged really well for takeout here's hoping some of the other options can knock our socks off when we eat in. read more

I had heard good things about this place from friends who had dinner here last month, so my best friend and her daughter came with me for lunch. We ate outside in the patio which was breezy and comfortable. The server was attentive, polite and took our orders right away. The food came in a timely manner. We had the fried green tomato appetizer and asked for the bacon on the side. What we got was three thin slices of tomato placed on top of a creamy dressing and a side dish of bacon. This was disappointing to say the least and not as tasty as expected. When the sandwiches came they were ok, I had a jalapeño popper veggie burger which had plenty of jalapeños- good, but the onion rings side were overly deep fried. My friend had a burger which she said was good, but her French fries were also overdone. Her daughter had a nice looking side salad which she says was very good and a chicken sandwich which was cooked well but not especially tasty. I think I would try this again, but probably at dinner, there were not many other diners there during our visit which makes me think lunch is not really their thing. read more

I had no idea this place was here! I have been getting my hair done literally 500 ft from here for years. My hairdresser often told me about this place, and I could never remember the name. I had about 45 mins before my appointment so I decided to grab dinner. It was literally 3 buildings away, so convenient! I walked in and you could tell this was a locals place. The bar was filled from end to end with hard working guys having a beer (or several) after work. Besides the bar, most tables were open. The place is pretty small. maybe like 15 small tables? It was cute inside, but still a little divey. It was welcoming. My service was great and speedy. She gave me a run off of the draft list, the specials and kept me happy my entire visit. For drinks I had a Sloop Juice Bomb and then I also tried the Wolf's Hollow District 6 - which was fabulous. I should have had two! Nice to see a local brew on tap. After looking at the menu, I knew I wanted a burger. I ordered the Horseradish Bacon Burger which was topped with bacon, sautéed mushrooms, horseradish cheddar and a horseradish sauce. I opted for it on a pretzel bun instead of brioche. The burger and hand cut fries were only 10.99 - super affordable. According to other reviews, I was a little concerned on getting the correct doneness on the burger. I ordered medium rare and it came out absolutely perfect. The burger had great balance - while there was a lot of horseradish, it wasn't too much and you could still taste the beef, mushrooms, and pretzel bun. The sauce on the burger was great. I enjoyed dipping my fries in any that dripped off the burger. Speaking of, those fries were fantastic. and you got plenty. I was completely full after completing the burger and 1/3 of the fries. I was very happy with the prices, some places just charge too much these days for everything. I got the $11 burger and two beers at $6 a piece so it was less that $25 and I left satisfied with a little box of fires and a little buzz from the beers. If you're in the area, this place is worth a try. The menu seems like there are a lot of other options as well, if you're not feeling burger! read more

Wow! I kept hearing about this place and finally picked this place to be the first restaurant to dine in since March, 2020. I could not have made a better choice. We had to wait a few minutes for a table, but didn't notice because the hostess was so nice and was chatting and joking with us. We ordered the short rib poutine, the sloppy Joe grilled cheese and the fried chicken and biscuits. The poutine was a meal in itself. The sausage gravy on the fried chicken was spot on! The sloppy Joe grilled cheese was so stuffed with cheese and sloppy Joe meat I ate it with a fork and knife. This place is a must. Summer goal: Try everything on their menu! read more

my family and i have been coming here since they were still located in Rotterdam. this place is always fantastic! my brother always gets the 50/50 burger and i always get the biscuits and gravy. everything is always so delicious. service is great, food comes out quick. there are tvs, a bar, typical stuff you would find in a sports bar. this place always seems busy but we have never had to wait to be seated before. definitely a must!! read more

Been here many, many times. Food is always good. Service is always excellent!! But last night our experience did not meet typical expectations. We always order a couple martinis before dinner. Normally the cocktails are of good size and, are excellent. Last night, it was a different experience. Not sure who was tending bar but it certainly was not the normal bartender. The drinks were very small!! Almost stupid small. I never ask or look at the price of the cocktails so I assume the price of last nights drinks were the same price we've always payed. Unless you cut the price in half, last nights cocktails were a joke!! Because our cocktails are part of our dining experience, I can't say we will be returning. read more

Do not use a credit card here. My boyfriend and I have been going here for a while and have always enjoyed our visits until our recent visit. Our bill came to $87 and change which was fine and we gave the waitress a &20 cash tip. Much to our surprise, his credit card was changed $107!! When he went to and spoke with the manager about the overcharge, the "new" manager told him the only way this could happen is if the waitress entered it (who we found out is the owners daughter)! He was told the matter would be investigated and would get back to him. Sorry to say that still has not happened! The extra $20 was finally credited back a few days ago but I expected some sort of explanation or at least a courtesy call explaining what happened! Probably been here or gotten take out half a dozen times, at least. That says a lot. The food is reliably good and fresh. My go-to is the Caesar salad with grilled salmon and cheesecake. Sweetheart usually goes for a sandwich: burger, French dip(?) or something with meat, and the chocolate cake. I'd order now, but I think I waited too late. Too bad for me. read more
