Found this place on Yelp and glad we did. Theres a small parking lot behind the restaurant. Very eager and friendly girl greeted us and told us to pick our own table, she happily took our drink order. The place is old but "updated" and cozy and CLEAN. Our waitress took our order. Lots of orders were being picked up by third party apps, so the food has to be good, right? Well it was! Our burgers were made perfectly and actually tasted like fresh ground beef. The portion sizes were filling enough. The staff worked together great and extra special shoutout to the busgirl, who was the one who actually checked up on our meal. One of my favorite diners in the NY Capital Region. Their Greek Chicken Wrap with kalamata olives added is fantastic! They're also one of the only diners in the area that even has the option of adding kalamata olives, which is insane to me considering how much Greek flavor they add to the wrap. Their French fries are also very well executed for a place that doesn't have fresh made fries, so kudos to them for that. The wait staff is also very friendly and attentive, even when they're busy. To this date, I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here, no matter what we've ordered. read more

loved them for many years until tonight. 11/08/25. I started to order and then walked to the bathroom after I told the female taking my order that I didn't want to order. A male said something to me on my way to the restroom and I told him it wasn't his business and after the fact, come to find out, he's the new owner. idc who he was but I refuse to order from a place that a female sits on the counter to clean. She just put her butt and punani on the counter where they get my food from. and then to have the "owner" come out and record me and ask me what I was doing in his bathroom. The food was delicious. I had the stuffed French toast. My friend had the Italian egg sandwich. The only complaint was the potatoes were not as well cooked as he would have liked. It was difficult to get the server to return to the table for more coffee and the check. read more

We grew up in the neighborhood over 60 years ago. Whenever we're back in town we usually bring my 102 year old Dad his favorite - hot dog with everything-bury the onions! Menu has many choices and have never had a bad experience. I recently used Grub Hub to have dinner delivered to my Dad. Was delivered on time and warm. Great atmosphere-very much a small town diner(not in a bad way!) Even though the name is Broadway Lunch, they have a great breakfast selection too! The service was excellent, fast and friendly, it seems to be a very popular local hangout spot. We got the stuffed French toast with the award winning blue ribbon cheesecake filling and strawberries and whipped cream on top, and a western omelette. My credit card was charged $40 for a $23 lunch (Cheeseburger, fries & drink) I tried on several occasions to call and speak to someone about the charge and no one has contacted me. I had the egg Benedict with corned beef hash and hollandaise sauce on an English muffin with home fries. The house fries were soggy. The hollandaise sauce tasted like it came out of a can. The staff though was friendly and the ambiance is that of a small diner or Waffle House. The egg was done well though and that was pleasing. My family has been going here for many years. Both in restaurant eating and take out. The hot dogs and sauce, onion rings, fries, open faced roast beef sandwich and even fish dinners w/ Mac & cheese are great!! Tonight however total disappointment. Ordered pancakes and sausage for myself and I hate to say it, but true it is, McDonald pancakes are better by far. These were the most tasteless pancakes I've ever had. Even if they're from a box, try some vanilla in the mix. Or even some lemon juice or sugar. The texture was fine, it was just the flavor. Which was "flavorless". Oh my gosh. All I can say is I SCORED big time finding this diner!!! From the outside I wasn't expecting much from this place.. The parking lot is tiny and the sign for the diner looks 2,000 years old... They can brighten up the outside a little bit. First impressions when I walked in: 1. HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL THIS PLACE IS SO NICE! 2. Everything is so modern in here. From the booths, to the light fixtures. I absolutely love how they designed it. 3. Who is the cute old bald guy in the back? Possibly the owner??.... 4. OOooOo so many white board lunch specials! You basically just seat yourself. It was pretty PACKED when we arrived (it was around 12:30 in the afternoon). But thankfully there was one more booth open. An older woman came over to get our drink orders, she had an English accent. What a doll she was. Literally all of the waitresses here are SO FRIENDLY, talkative, polite. I just love it. One of the waitresses mentioned that they have ALL been waitressing there for years. So, they're good at what they do!! The best thing about this place is they literally make everything homemade... They are *KNOWN* for their hotdogs. So many toppings including: baked beans, sauerkraut, coleslaw, etc. etc. too many to even remember. It took everything in me not to get one. I decided on the fish and chips (which was on the special) for $8.95 give or take a few bucks (Don't quote me on the price). My cousin got the same, and her kids got chicken tenders a BLT & pea soup. Let me just start off with the soup. UM WOWWWW. I'm not even a soup eater but this pea soup is literally to DIE FOR. if you ever eat here, GET THE SOUP YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. The chicken tenders are homemade!!! No frozen crap. You can't really mess up a BLT... The fish & chips are literally NO DOUBT the best I've ever had. Literally 5 star quality on all of the food here. They have a decent sized menu & very very fair prices. Some lunch specials even come with soup! I was dying for some diner style dessert, and LOOK AT THAT THEY HAVE MY FAVORITE! CARROT CAKE. It did not disappoint. Moist cake, delicious frosting. Mmmhmmmm I just needed some milk to wash it down with but I was SO STUFFED I couldn't eat one more bite. Coffee, 2 cups of soup, chicken tenders & FF, a BLT with FF, 2 fish & chip meals & 1 slice of carrot cake= $42. I grew up in Schenectady and have moved around the country as an adult. The one thing I CRAVE all the time is Broadway Lunch's hot dogs. Their meat sauce, the perfectly steamed buns, perfect dogs - best in the world. I have tried to re-create their sauce without luck. I have tried to find a place with sauce nearly as good - no luck. It's not a chili sauce, it's a unique meat sauce - indescribable. It's brown, not red. It's more meaty than saucy. Nothing better than 2 dogs with mustard, sauce and onions and a side of fries with their homemade gravy. And it's owned by the nicest people, at least when I knew them. I haven't been since 2010. Great coffee too, and breakfast, desserts, sandwiches, specials. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. read more

Broadway lunch was recommended to us. Hubby loves his hot dogs. This place is known for its hot dogs and onion rings. We were not disappointed. Hubby's hot dogs more than met his standards. My cheeseburger was cooked to perfect medium rare. The staff is friendly and accommodating. As we are mass marketed by chain restaurants and burger chains, it's great to find and support a family owned place that loves and appreciates its staff and it's customers. Broadway lunch has a devoted 'regulars' customer base but new people are treated like family right away. What is also evident is how much Phil the owner cares about his establishment. It's impeccably clean. That's important these days. The only issue I had is what was on the TV's. I don't know why restaurants or any establishment these days insists upon TV's. read more

Was a former New Yorker just passing through but had to stop for some good hotdogs with everything.

cheese steak was great.. French fries with cheese and gravy were delicious as well as the onion rings. I was pretty disappointed with the chili sauce on hot dogs though, Not very tasty... Staff were very polite and made me feel welcome. Inside of diner was clean and up to date surprisingly because outside is very outdated and would make you think twice of stopping in. Prices were decent I spent about $40 for my wife and I to eat lunch which was a massive feast that we enjoyed. I will definitely be back to try other items on menu. read more

I visited Broadway Lunch today with my cousin who lives in Schenectady. I was pleasantly surprised that this small "mom and pop" diner like lunch place produces some delicious food. I had no real expectations since it is not the prettiest place in a run down neighborhood. That being said, they produce wonderful sandwiches, soups and fantastic french fries. It is not a very large place, but it was full including the seats at the lunch counter. They have a large menu with the usual fare. The wait staff are quick, efficient and pleasant. They accept credit cards and have a small parking lot on the side street. If back in that part of town, I would revisit this lunch place. read more

If you're looking for a homey diner with enough options for everyone to find something they like, this is the place! The waitresses are the friendliest you'll ever come across - always a smile, always a hello to the regulars. The past few months have been rough, for several reasons. Sometimes, even in the shittiest of times, we still manage to complete life goals, aspiring to be better than we were the day before. Broadway Lunch, in combination with a crazy work schedule and a sense of social isolation, helped me complete a crucial life goal: to become a recognized regular at a diner. Yup. Thank you, Broadway Lunch, for feeding me at least three times a week during the fall. The waitresses were always friendly, talkative and attentive to my coffee cup whether it be 11 in the morning or 8 at night. And one night, upon saddling up to the counter after a 16 hour workday, I was greeted with a "hey mike, how's it goin'?" My order usually consisted of the same thing, a soup, coffee and a hot dog with everything for dessert. Oh yes, Broadway Lunch serves up some excellent hot dogs with meat sauce, by far my favorite in Schenectady. The sauce isn't as meaty as Mike's and has a better kick. I'm also a huge fan of their onion rings. I don't know how to put it, but their batter is more satisfying than what's found on most onion rings. My aforementioned personal story aside, Broadway Lunch serves reliable, if above average, diner fare. It's nothing too out of the ordinary, but it doesn't need to be anything special. Broadway Lunch survives in a downtrodden neighborhood of a down and out city by serving comfort food and amazing hot dogs. And they do it all while being incredibly friendly...you can't find this kind of service up here! The food was outstanding. I ate it so fast I didn't get a "before" picture. The ham...whoa! I learned about this diner from a good friend of mine and I haven't looked back since. I love the old school feeling from back when eateries had a personality and were not all just cookie cutter chains and franchises. The staff there is always friendly and very pleasant, great service, great atmosphere and great prices! The only downfall I have had there is finding a parking spot or waiting for an empty table! Their chicken Parmesan dinner with ziti, soup and salad are the best I have had, and I am a hard person to please with Italian food! Finish that off with a piece of their banana creme pie and there is NO WAY you could walk away without a smile on your face!
