I love that this place has gluten-free buns that aren't sad mops. AND that they have vegan shake options that use a mix of oat milk and tahini. Best part was meeting Nick, the man behind the scenes. I discovered this burger chain last year on a drive back from a ski trip and it's honestly become a staple for every trip. The burgers are grass fed beef and come with so many toppings and sauce but I prefer just cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. My husband and I lived in Guilderland for 3 years and always passed Herbie's saying we wanted to try it. Well, after moving to Troy we finally decided to give this location a shot since we were in town! So glad we did. The food was amazing!!!! I'm a big fan of burgers in general, but I'm not exaggerating when I say the Herbie was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time! The loaded fries were a game changer, and I highly recommend a chocolate shake to match. Prices weren't bad at all, especially with fast, friendly service and an amazing atmosphere. Recently visited over the weekend and had a fantastic meal that I thought was reasonably priced and beats some of the hamburger chains (those other GUYS). Out of the four burgers, half got their Nerdy Sauce (I think that was what it was called) and half got it with no condiments. In my opinion, it is better without so you can get the full flavor of the burger. They were all excellent smash burgers. It was perfectly done just maybe could use a tad bit more seasoning. The patties are very thin so you almost have to get a double. I think it misrepresents the burger and they do themselves a disservice by even offering a single since it seems like two singles is really a full burgers worth of meat. If I had one complaint it would be that ordering in you just get a bag but then the other GUYS do that too so I suppose it isn't a big deal. I was at this burger place on Monday, July 13th and was very disappointed, on the outside of there building it say's fresh cut fries and there frozen fries that's false advertising which is very wrong, and the restroom is very disguesting toilet almost overflowed and it's dirty!! I've been a devoted regular for years, visiting every Herbie's location at least 20 times each, and the food has always been outstanding. Last night's burgers were as good as ever. But the service was so disrespectful that it ruined everything. The server, Angel, treated me with outright contempt. When I asked to simply add extra patties to my order (a Herb Father, Nerdy Bird, and two loaded fries), he flat-out refused, insisting I buy them as separate full burgers instead, even though it was a simple modification. His tone was smug and dismissive, like he knew the company would back him up no matter what. To make it worse, with 30 minutes left in dinner service and the dining room half empty, they still wouldn't let me eat inside. This wasn't just poor service; it felt deliberate and entitled, as if they couldn't be bothered with a loyal customer. I've never experienced anything like this at Herbie's before, but because of this attitude and the apparent company policy that enables it, I won't be back unless I'm assured you don't have these guys in any position where they interact with customers You're losing longtime customers over preventable arrogance! read more

I have never eaten at Herbie's Burgers but I have passed it many times. I decided to stop by this afternoon for a milkshake. I walked in and it wasn't crowded at all one guy was on the grill and the other guy was cleaning and making milkshakes. I stood at the counter for at least 5-10 minutes. The counter person never even looked up to acknowledge my presence. He continued cleaning and walking around. Then another customer walked in and the new customer was greeted and he took her order. At that point I walked out without ordering anything. They may have the best burgers and shakes but I will not go again! Poor customer service! Or should I say, no customer service!!! I'm so glad they opened a location less than a mile from Crossgates Mall in Guilderland (Westmere), located in a former Stewart's Shop and former Inferno Pizza on Western Ave at Gipp Rd. Their menu offers single and double cheeseburgers using local grass fed beef patties and also vegan patties (contains gluten) too. They also serve fries, shakes (vegan available), and Coke fountain drinks. Their vegan shakes have tahini oat milk. I stopped by the Herbie's Burgers in Guilderland for a single cheeseburger, $6.43 with tax. Their food is cooked to order. The single cheeseburger had a thin grilled crisp beef patty with lettuce, tomato, pickles, melted American cheese and nerdy sauce on a soft potato bun. The burger itself was tasty and just enough to eat between lunch and dinner. read more

I decided to wait until I'd been here a few times before writing a review. I went very shortly after they opened, and they didn't get the order quite right. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and see if they'd improve over time. They did. The inside is bright with enough seats to accommodate everyone whether they are choosing to eat in or wait for their take-out meal to be ready. Not interested in waiting? Order online in advance. The burgers here are always well done, and the toppings were fresh. I really enjoy their shakes. This Herbie's also opens early and has egg sandwiches available for breakfast. The one thing I don't like is parking. It's limited, and several spaces along Gipp Rd. aren't long. Unfortunately, the occasional large pick-up truck will park in one of these spaces, making it difficult to see past it or drive by it safely if you are heading towards Western Avenue along Gipp Rd. I've been to the Herbie's on Lark Street before, but this is the first time that I've been to this location. Having said that, I think this location is better than the original location. To amplify, I ordered a double cheeseburger, loaded fries, and a chocolate shake. Firstly, the double cheeseburger was very good. The beef was tender, juicy, and had excellent flavor. Unlike the location on Lark street, the burgers here were actually thick and not paper thin. Furthermore, the potato bun was tasty and light. Also, the nerdy sauce was delicious. The sauce was sweet and went great with the burger. Simply put, it was a really solid burger. Next, I tried the loaded fries and they were respectable. These fries are topped with cheese, nerdy sauce, and fried onions. They are almost identical to In-N-Out's animal style fries. Anyways, the fries were salted well and had good flavor. In addition, the toppings really elevated the flavor of the fries. My only problem is that the fries were a bit soggy from the toppings. Lastly, the chocolate shake was enjoyable. To explain, the shake was creamy, thin, and had just the right amount of chocolate. It tasted very similar to a Five Guys shake. Herbie's burgers in Guilderland is serving up some delicious burgers and fries in both a traditional or vegan way. Not sure why people are complaining about the limited menu, it has been a huge success on the West coast for the coveted In-N-Out. The menu is pretty straightforward but I'm thinking there might be an In-N-Out thing going on here with some secret menu items or combinations served up if you're in the know but I haven't tried. If it's anything like the Lark Street location in Albany they probably have a decent amount of take out and delivery orders. The server was super helpful and allowed me to order a half vanilla and half chocolate shake. This location has plenty of tables in the dining area and seating outside. We ordered 1 vegan fully loaded double, 1 vegan single, a large fry to share and the shake. It was plenty of food for the both of us served hot and delicious. This place is okay, was the food so bad it's a 2 star. Not completely. BUT..... it's a place that basically does only two food things; burgers and fries. Let's start with the okay. The burger was okay, if I'm hungry/craving a burger and there's absolutely nowhere else to go. I'd probably go to a deli. But if I needed to stop here and get a burger it would be fine. There's nothing wrong with the burger at all, it's just not memorable at all and there's a lot of places to get really good burgers. Now the less than okay. The loaded fries. I see "smothered in cheese" and I was excited to order these. I get the fries and it's basically a kraft singles slice dropped on top of the fries, slightly melted but not really. At least it wasn't cold. Sautéed onions can look weird, it's just how it is. These looked worse then that, kind of nasty looking. The Kraft single slice probably didn't help. The picture I think tells the whole story. For a place that really only does two things, the burgers were fine but the fries are a complete embarrassment. It's also easy to compare this place to a burger place.... Like 5 guys. Maybe Herbies uses higher quality meat.... hard to believe they really do after trying to eat fries with a Kraft single cheese laid on top. Actually, Herbies burgers has a decent burger. I ordered the double cheeseburger, with small French fries. The french fries were thin, but OK. Anybody knows that french fries when they cool or not as good as when they are hot and I think they made these pre-my pick up. The burger was more tasteful than burgers that I've had around the area with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickle and I guess they call it their nerd sauce. The burger was actually one of the best vegan burgers I've had in a really long time. It was super flavorful and filling.
