I can't believe it's been 3 years since I last set foot in Mumu's Cafe for breakfast. The visit was long overdue. I had some time to spare recently after dropping my dog off at a veterinary clinic in Troy. I ordered the Turkish Breakfast Plate which turned out to be the most expensive breakfast on the menu. It came with a lot of food. It included eggs, Simit ( a Turkish sesame bagel), grapes, toast, honey, olives and cream cheese. I also ordered a Turkish coffee which is a little stronger than what I'm use to. It hit the spot. Service is fast and friendly. The restaurant small but clean and cute. It looks as though the owners might have added a table. There are three or four tables in all. There's a new partition in the kitchen providing a little more distance between customers and those working on food prep. Gone are the beautiful ornate gold detailed Turkish dinner plates and teacups. I found them charming though not practical. I sort of miss them but they looked like heirloom items which wouldn't be appropriate for day-to-day use. They've been replaced by simple white dish-ware. Much more cost effective. FYI. There are no restrooms for customer use. That issue never came up for me but an older couple came in looking for a restroom and the owner advised them to go to the fast food restaurant down the street. As for the food, it was every bit as good as I expected. Some things don't change. I took the leftovers home and made another meal of it the next day. read more

Ordered 2 bacon egg and cheese croissants for delivery and this is what I was given. The saddest piece of bacon in the smallest sandwich I've seen in a very long time. Portions were incredibly tiny small, from the bacon to the small egg. The food also arrived pretty cold. The taste was alright, but for what you get, I wouldn't say it was worth the price. I just couldn't believe the tiny portions. After eating one of the sandwiches I was still starving. read more

This place is a little honey hole. What a delicious and refreshing menu. I loved the Borek Plate with a side of baclava and a Turkish coffee. I will be coming back here again. I sat in the comfortable little cafe and enjoyed my plate while my wife had a procedure at the hospital, just a five minute walk through a beautiful park. Just gorgeous. read more

My wife and I came here for brunch after we finished shoveling ourselves out from a recent snowstorm. I ordered a chicken panini and my wife ordered a turkey wrap. My panini was good but they definitely skimped. There wasn't a lot of meat, red pepper or pesto in the panini. It was also incredibly dry! My wife said her wrap was good but they also skimped on it. There wasn't much food when she looked inside the wrap. Very small seating area. Only room for 6 people max which is not ideal for a cafe. Since we came during a snowstorm there was only one other person there eating. For this reason I was very surprised by the long wait time. They also didn't have many drink options at all. I'm curious as to why they call themselves a cafe. The gentleman working the counter was friendly! I must admit the prices were very reasonable. It's not really possible to spend a lot of money here. Everything on the menu is very inexpensive. That's the saving grace for Mumu's Cafe. read more

A cute little shop, smack dab in the middle of a residental area. I had to drive around the block to get parking. I found this place by accident looking to see if another bakery was open. But this is not only a delicious bakery they have breakfast and sandwiches, Panini's etc. I was here first the treats, boy did they have some good desserts. The two cupcakes I tried were very moist and delicious. I also had a banana cake and a blueberry musmffin all very delicious Now I'll have to go back to try the savory options. read more

A large selection of sweets, panini, breakfast dishes, all with a Turkish twist. You take a look at the menu up on the wall behind the counter, look at what's in the case, and give your order to the cashier. There's a small dining room at the back which I think has been added to the original tiny space. We stopped in for dessert after a concert. Very glad we chose to split one, because the portions are generous on the sweets. We'll be back for a complete meal! Everything looks great! Very clean and bright. read more

I would rate this place 6 stars if I could!! This cafe is one of the best in Troy! It is family-owned and the owners are always extremely kind and friendly. Prices are fair and the food is EXCELLENT. I always get the breakfast sandwich on a croissant and I am never disappointed - honestly the best croissant I have ever had! I go to RPI and have been a regular here the last 2 years (it's only a short walk from campus). I enjoy eating in their small dining area (there's outdoor seating as well when the weather is nice) but they also make it easy to pickup or order via DoorDash. I have had nothing but good experiences here and will continue to patronize this fine establishment for the rest of my time at RPI. read more

We ended up here for breakfast because it was the only place open. There is a single table with 2 chairs. We got a bacon,egg and cheese on a bagel (an eggel in my world) and French toast. Great food. It's got both Turkish and American food. I've eaten there more than once. I love the breakfast waffle dishes.

The Budapest cake is amazing. Like, wow, I regret only getting one slice! Very moist, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. The strawberries and blueberries on the cake were very fresh and delicious too, very high quality. I will be going back ASAP for more baked goods. I'm already craving more. : ) The Samit was also very tasty and the sandwich was a generous portion. I plan on returning and trying more items, especially the pastries. We went to Mumu's this morning for breakfast and were very happy with everything we ordered. The menu was very interesting and definitely a nice change from the common fare that you would find in most other places in the area. I ordered the Turkish style Panini which had feta, tomato, American cheese, olive pesto, eggs and Turkish pepperoni on a toasted Panini bread. A delicious combination of flavors. My girlfriend ordered the Turkish breakfast plate that had a simit. That is a like a sesame bagel which I believe was made in house. It also had scrambled eggs, cream cheese, feta cheese, olives, tomatoes, grapes, walnuts, honey, butter and additional toasted bread. She really enjoyed this and appreciated the variety. I also had a cup of Turkish coffee which had a very deep rich dark roasted flavor. It was the first time I had tried this kind of coffee and I'm glad I did. We would definitely come back and try other things on the menu. They have an amazing looking pastry and waffle menu as well. read more

Mumu's reminds me of a luxurious cafe/bakery I would expect to find on vacation near a hotel, except it's right at home and way more affordable. You literally can not go wrong with this menu. The fruit tarts are a light, fresh, perfectly sized bite. The chocolate croissants, stuffed with banana and strawberry, might be my favorite item on the menu - though they are very similar in flavor to the Brussels Waffle, which adds kiwi and some other toppings as well. I often find pastries and desserts with Nutella can be overly sweet or sugary, but these were just perfect. The croissants have that satisfying flakiness that doesn't shed too many crumbs. The Turkish Simit with egg and cheese reminded me more of a pretzel than a bagel in that it's denser and more tightly twisted. I would go with a runny yolk egg next time instead of the scrambled eggs I ordered, but it was still delicious. My only regret is that now every morning I wake up wanting a breakfast spread from Mumu's and nothing else is quite as satisfying. read more

I had the random urge to find a new place to try out and noticed that Mumu's wasn't too far of a walk from campus, so I checked it out and instantly fell in love!! I got the Fresh Mozzarella Sandwich on croissant (which I devoured before I took a picture of it, sadly) and the 3 chocolate croissants. Everything was prepared right then and there, all of the ingredients were fresh: the pesto was deliciously green and herbaceous, the greens were fresh and crunchy, the mozzarella was soft and moist, like something you'd find at a farmers market, and the croissant was warm and flaky. As for the chocolate croissants, the strawberries and bananas were freshly cut and kept cold on the nice, warm bread and melty hazelnut spread-- the perfect combination and feeling. The bakery itself is small and easy to miss for its location but is extremely worth stopping by when you do find it. I'll definitely be recommending this place to everyone I know. read more

Can't say enough nice things about this little spot. Stopped in for breakfast today, had a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant. The croissant was amazing, so buttery and flaky! We also had a berry Napoleon and I think a slice of Budapest cake. They were both just absolutely wonderful. They were wonderful hosts! She insisted we stay to eat on the little table outside because they have pretty plates. The plates were certainly pretty and it was a delight to hang out and eat her baked goods. I came here the other day for brunch. The shop was small and intimate and had quite a few tasty choices. Every item we ordered was delicious! From the delectable belgian waffle with nutella to the mouthwatering egg on croissant sandwich to the beautifully made budapest roll, everything we had was a hit.
