Honestly the only thing I'd take off a star for (& obviously didn't) is not having baked goods. I've never, ever been able to order anything off the menu yet still get eggs because there's only vegan restaurants that don't have dairy. Lovely place, nice and clean. Delicious food and made fresh to order using delectable ingredients. The blt had the best tasting bacon and what looked like heirloom tomatoes. My kale with yams and roasted broccoli and runny eggs was outstanding. I will return, no doubt. Just make me a muffin next time, ok? (And install a bathroom)

Breakfast Hash: looked great. Problem with potatoes.

On the Sunday before Memorial Day, my husband & I decided to try Liza's for breakfast. You're suppose to order and pay at the counter before you can sit down to eat, but the server didn't tell us that until we were already seated for several minutes. That was annoying. The same thing happened to the couple that came in after us. It would have been much more welcoming if we were greeted by staff as we entered and had the ordering process explained to us in just a sentence or two. Some signage might have helped, too. This place is short on hospitality. I ordered the Breakfast Bowl which had avocados, two eggs, sweet potato and kale. Liza's is a health food restaurant and the meal seemed healthy. It was also looked great. Unfortunately, the roasted sweet potato at the bottom was dried out. The coffee, which was made from a press, tasted good at first. I had mine with almond milk. But about 2/3 of the way down it became gritty and undrinkable. Someone needs to tell the barista not to pour the grinds into the cup along with the coffee. My husband's complaints were far worse, because he likes his coffee hot and it wasn't. He ordered the Breakfast Hash with eggs over easy and was disappointed because the eggs were sunny side up and the potatoes/ home fries were so dried out, they were inedible. I tried his food. He was right. The potatoes didn't appear to be freshly made. Like cardboard. Liza's is largely about first impressions. From a distance, the place looks inviting with its glass windows and plants. The breakfast bowls look attractive, too. I actually enjoyed some of my meal. But there was a problem in the details. The potatoes/ sweet potatoes at the bottom of the bowls were awful. When you got down to the coffee--mine got worse with each sip--and I know good coffee. It wasn't cheap either. The entire bill was about $35 and we gave a $5 tip. Being a gardener, the plants in the front window should have been my tip off. After admiring the restaurant from a distance, I noticed two pots of assorted succulent plants in the front window were dying. Please water them. There's no reason for them to die from neglect. I realize it was a holiday weekend and there might be new staff working. With better training and some more attention to details, Liza's could have been fabulous.

Ah! I LOVE THIS PLACE! This spot could easily be in so cal. Great healthy and tasty items. The smoothies are fantastic, filling, and full of top notch ingredients. The paleo everything bagel was delicious.

I have been going to Liza's since it first opened as a little smoothie/juice bar on Broadway. They have since grown & expanded their menu, serving delicious, health-conscious food in a trendy atmosphere. The service is consistently wonderful, and their food is always fresh, with an emphasis on whole, nutritious ingredients. My favorite, of course, being an acai bowl +protein w/cashew butter!

Walking in you feel like you stepped into Joanna Gaines fixer upper, it's beautiful and relaxing. Pros: decent sized menu with many options, healthy items, unique ingredients, good portion sizes, nice outdoor seating, friendly staff. Cons: I came here looking for a pitaya bowl, but they only had açaí. The blends can't be altered and if you're allergic to any fruit, it can't be omitted. It was good but wish I could customize more (it comes with strawberries, bananas, granola, and nut butter, granola and nut butter can be upgraded for an extra charge). Would liked to have changed up the fruit, or the base ingredients. Overall fresh, quick, and friendly. Want to come back and try the avocado toast next.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! This restaurant is gorgeous and the food is incredible! From the plants to the lighting and decor, it all works together to allow you to feel that you're in an extremely relaxing and peaceful environment. I instantly felt happier when walking in and I didn't want to leave. I ordered my breakfast and coffee which got to me very quickly with barely any wait time. This was my first time here and the woman working was so helpful and answered all my questions. I ordered the Breakfast Hash and the brain fuel (iced) coffee and I was blown away with how delicious everything was! The spices and flavors are phenomenal and I can't wait to go back to this awesome spot again!

It was darkly lit inside (with pinkish/red lights no less); it was extremely loud to the point that I had trouble understanding what my wife was saying (which might not be the background music!); and the prices were expensive. The entire night they played 1980s New-wave British music which I don't mind, but had it been something I detest I would have lost my mind. We were seated at a tiny table with a small candle which provided some actual heat on the cold winter night. Our server was extremely helpful and though he didn't have all the answers he did offer to go and find out. They have a long menu but it doesn't have a lot of food options on it, with most of the pages devoted to alcohol. They had only one dessert option when we were there. My wife and I both ordered the Hanger Steak with fries, mushroom sauce, and green salad (about $40 each). Hanger steak is my favorite cut and hard to find so I jumped on it. Food came out in about 25 minutes, which is amazing considering how small their kitchen is. The steak was cooked perfectly (they didn't ask how we wanted it), smothered in a lovely mushroom sauce, and covered an ample portion of crispy homemade fries which were so good I would have thought them bagged frozen items. Even the basic salad which was just various types of lettuce was great. They aren't cheap, but they are focusing on "farm to table" and that means quality food at commensurate (fair?) prices. Burgers and chicken sandwiches are $15, so if you want something lighter but still tasty you can go that route. Speaking of light, if you go into the bathroom on the right you will find a cold, dark, tiny room lit solely by a PINK bulb. It feels like being on a spaceship (as if I know what that is like), and after when you leave seeing the main light in the restaurant is very jarring. It was a fun experience but not inexpensive and not one that checks the boxes that I look for in a restaurant. Dark, loud, and cramped might be hip for the young or "save the earth" crowd, but I am too old to give up creature comforts for such things. The food, though expensive, was absolutely outstanding in every way though and I won't forget that steak for a long time.

Then we watched for 20 minutes as people that came in multiple parties after us got their food and we had nothing. Then she brought 3 out of 4 meals. My girlfriend ordered the special Raspberry Nutella French Toast. It came with strawberries and we were told, "we're out of raspberries so we substituted strawberries." That is total BS. How about telling us you are out of raspberries and asking if we want something else. My girlfriend can't really eat strawberries since they make her break out. Even worse is I STILL didn't have my food. Server said, "yours is coming, but I didn't want these to get cold." After the rest of my party was halfway done with their breakfast and I still didn't have mine, I asked for a manager. I was told there is no manager there...another load of BS. Server came back and I told her I didn't want my food at this point. She said, "okay, I'll just bring the bill." Are you f'ing kidding me??? You expect us to pay for this crap?? Needless to say, I will NEVER be back to this $hithole. Service is horrible and they will not let you complain to a manager. No manager is there on a busy weekend day? I find that hard to believe. Their tipsy cocktails and beer menu is also quite attractive. My group and I were able to walk in on a weekend evening for dinner with no wait and while it was packed inside, it still felt roomy enough. However, the surrounding tables were rowdy and the noise was reverberating. Our server was attentive though she did admit it was busy and the wait time for orders would take a bit longer than usual. The menu has plenty of starters that are highly shareable, poutine, salads, soups, mac and cheese, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, and quesadillas. Haven't had real poutine in ages so I decided to try their gravy fries with smoked cheese curds and added bacon. It was a good portion for the price ($15+) and came out hot on a cast iron skillet. The cheese curds weren't the type I expected and melted down too much, and did not have that squeaky cheese bite one would want in poutine. The gravy and the bacon worked well with the fries though! The smoked brisket French onion soup ($8+) was extremely hot when it first came out and I had to let it cool down before taking a spoonful. The cheese was so bubbly and delicious and the soup itself was flavorful (maybe a tad too salty), and had a balanced amount of onions and brisket. I would definitely get the soup again. Their barbecue pulled pork quesadilla ($15+) was also a bit too salty and meat was more tough than preferred. We also tried two of their mac and cheese selections, which came in a small cast iron pot each ($17+). The bacon chicken ranch mac and cheese was good but the jerk chicken mac and cheese was not as memorable (not much jerk flavor). Kudos for having a build-your-own mac and cheese option as well as a mac and cheese flight if you want to try more than one flavor. I'm glad to return to try other menu items at this tap and tavern and see what else catches my eye. While this visit wasn't spectacular, it also wasn't bad. The French onion soup is one thing I know I'd get over and over again. Oh, they also have a credit card transaction fee that you will see once you get the bill. Pay in cash if you mind said fee.
