Food very good, service good, Ambiance very good. We've tried Bare Blends before orginally at their previous location in the back of Stuyvesant Plaza, the location in Glenmont several times, the Troy location, and at numerous events around the Capitol region including vegan and food festivals. This was my first visit to the updated Stuyvesant Plaza location across the parking lot from Starbucks and the former TGI Friday's. The staff seemed a bit stressed, possibly because they were in the middle of a rush or didn't have enough people. I am typically greeted by very friendly young professionals at the various locations but today they seemed rushed. Several customers were waiting as the items rolled out from the kitchen. I entered and with no line immediately ordered around 1250. Sometime after 1:15pm someone called me up to the counter but not for my order. It was to tell me they were out of cauliflower and couldn't make the smoothie I ordered with the ingredients it was supposed to have. They offered banana instead and suggested it would taste just as good. My ordered arrived at 1:31pm 41 minutes after I ordered. While I waited a cashier told some customers it would be about 20 minutes and two people got out of line and left the store. I assumed they had a limited time on a lunch break and couldn't wait that long for an order to be ready. They might have suggested an item from the prepared salads juices in the grab and go case but retaining the customers didn't seem to be that important at the time. The food looked amazing and the Pina Colada bowl was excellent. The mocha smoothie was very banana forward and between the chocolate and banana it really overpowered any coffee flavor that should have come through. So the beverage was alright but not my favorite. The bowl, like I said, was really fresh and delicious. I'd like to go back and try a new breakfast sandwich soon. I think they were just having a bad day maybe?

Chunky Monkey

Hands down, the best smoothie bowls around. The ingredients are so fresh and delicious. I had the chunky monkey bowl - can't go wrong here with peanut butter, banana, chocolate etc. the consistency of the base is so incredibly smooth! The store is clean and welcoming. They have a special board to the right and only look if you're prepared to change your mind because the pictures alone look phenomenal, and then you read the description and want them all! Brownie Batter? Yes please! I couldn't leave without the cookie dough balls that are at the counter. They are healthy but don't taste healthy at all!

Stumbled upon a smoothie place in Stuyvesant Plaza today while making a run to the post office! Lovely space, great professional group of girls, plenty of options to choose from and spacious retail space with extra seating and lounge areas in the back of the store! Stop by..be patient ..it gets busy, but they roll you in and out!

Açaí berry crunch bowl

Açaí bowls are my new obsession. With that being said, I've been trying them all over the capital district and rating them. Today I went to Bare blends in Latham. It was the most expensive place I've tried. The bowl was great but Be prepared to have a purple tongue all day haha. Here it goes Pros: fresh fresh fresh!! The staff makes the base to order which is def a great touch and the presentation is great. The location is perfect! The venue is cute and is perfect for this type of crowd. Cons: price is the most expensive out of all the places I've been. The menu is very hard to read and they don't have print outs to look it over so you have to have your phone to look it up. Additionally I'll be back to try more items. It was good.

This is THE BEST smoothie and bowl shop in the 518. No other place compares to freshness, taste, price, and perfect amount of toppings. I will never waste my money on my on any other smoothie or bowl. They also have a great rewards program! Highly recommend BARE

Coffee cake bowl toppings

Super excited to see an açaí spot while visiting Albany. I was between a few items but ultimately went with the coffee cake bowl. The base was banana, coffee, protein and cinnamon oats. The consistency that this base produced was very strange, almost like a paste. I think there needed to be an almond milk to offset it. One of the toppings was almond butter which there was a ton of - which typically I'm all about. But with the combo of the nut butter and the paste like base, it was tough to break down the consistency in my mouth... thus, instead of a cold base that's smooth it was thick and tougher to get down. Super bummed cause all the toppings and base sounded great, but ultimately it was one of the least enjoyable bowls I've had.

I love acai bowls!...And I may have signed up for their rewards program, I can't help it when the weather is this hot and muggy. At $15 that's a pretty pricey bowl, but I was able to stretch it out and turn it into a lunch + pre-dinner snack. And they definitely don't skimp, I got all the peanut butter that my heart could ever want! The fresh fruit variety in my bowl was a little weird, but other than that I loved every single bite :)

One of my favorite spots for açaí and pitaya bowls, fresh juices, smoothies and delicious coffee. I love how you can order online and walk in and pick up your order from the cooler or choose curbside pickup. The staff is always so friendly and I love their weekly and monthly specials. Be sure to follow them on social media for info on their specials!

Tequila-less Sunrise & Keto Lovers Smoothies
Jessica W.

Fresh, pricey, & health-conscious. This small juice restaurant is perfect for a healthy pick me up. Location- hidden and a bit hard to find. It's not in the main plaza area, but is behind the Circles store and is next to a yoga studio. There's some stool seating but it's not really a place to hang out at for awhile. BARE is more of a on-the-go kind of snack. Tequila-less Sunrise Smoothie- The papaya is the predominant flavor, which surprised me. The papaya was the main source of sweetness. I would have liked more of an orange flavor and sweetness instead. The beet juice on top of the smoothie was pretty to look at but didn't add much flavor. Overall, it's a very dense and healthy smoothie with fresh fruit ingredients Keto Lovers Smoothie- Very dense and minimal sweetness. It's also a very fresh and nutritious smoothie. However, I was surprised that one of the ingredients is coconut oil, which is consistent with a ketogenic diet but not very healthy in terms of cardiac health. Overall, BARE provides fresh ingredients in their smoothies and bowls that use natural sweetness for its major flavors. It's a bit pricey but it satisfies any fresh fruit craving.

Chocolate chip smoothie

This is a great place tucked in the back of the Plaza. I am doing my best to support local during these uncertain times so I ordered the mint chocolate chip smoothie and replaced spinach with avocado. In the comments I asked to be texted if it was done early & got a text 15 minutes after I ordered! She even texted back offering to bring it out. Delicious smoothie--my only 'complaint' is it's too thick but with avocado it's bound to be thick and that's a good thing! It hit the spot and I am gonna be back for sure.

a bowl of ice cream and blueberries
Erika B.

Um yum! Did I just eat lunch or was it ice cream or what the heck was that? I AM STUFFED. I am so full that I feel like I should take a nap, but wait! It was all so healthy and yummy! I really really enjoyed whatever it was that I ate. I was scared when I walked in because they had T-shirt's for sale that had some saying about Kale and I HATE KALE. Alas, no kale here in my bowl. What was in it? Strawberries and blueberries and coconut milk and chocolate and granola and peanut butter and oh I'm sure more healthy stuff than that...really tasty. Now to go do some hot yoga ( in my pjs on the couch lol).

The matcha was absolutely delicious and clearly made with care -- prepared in a proper bowl and whisked with a bamboo whisk. I asked for a bit of honey, which really pulled the entire experience together. Honestly, I'd give this place a 5/5 based on the matcha alone. The smoothie bowl (I go the one that has banana, peanut butter, honey, and some other toppings) was great overall, though I did have one small complaint: there were a few large chunks of ice mixed in, and I accidentally bit into them. Aside from that, the bowl was flavorful and enjoyable. My wife ordered a smoothie, which was just okay. I didn't particularly care for it, and she unfortunately didn't end up finishing it. The service was excellent. The woman who took our order was very friendly and helpful, and she even recommended the matcha -- which turned out to be a great suggestion. One last note: we had visited this spot about a year ago, and it looks like the interior has completely changed since then. The new layout is bright and welcoming, no longer dark, and features a mostly gray palette with accent plants and furniture that bring everything together nicely. It feels much cozier than before.

I've been to Healthy on Lark a few times over the years for their healthy vegetarian and vegan food…read moreofferings, and have always enjoyed everything without exception. They definitely know what they're doing with their tofu and tempeh and I appreciate that these ingredients are featured in their natural state, instead of processed for meat-imitation purposes. Whole-food plant-based people rejoice! That being said, they do have rotating specials such as noodle and taco dishes that will fool an unsuspecting meat lover, if that's your objective. Healthy of Lark also offers very strongly-brewed and locally-roasted coffee (not for the faint of heart), a great selection of teas, smoothies, and fresh, organic vegetable and fruit juices. In an attempt to kick start some weight loss and get healthy for the summer (and all of those annoying, er... I mean charitable, 5Ks), I recently purchased a three-day juice cleanse package from Healthy on Lark as well. A juice cleanse or fast is when you drink somewhere between 60-100 ozs of fresh juice, as well as hearty amounts of tea and water all throughout the day instead of solid food in order to flush out toxins from all of your body's excretory organs. Do your own research to see if it's for you and if you're up for the challenge (calorie-restriction is hard) and don't happen to have an industrial juicer in your home - Head over to Healthy on Lark! Before I began, I met with Healthy on Lark's proprietor (a certified health counselor) to discuss my objectives and juice preferences. I opted for a package of 64 ozs of fresh juice and one 16 oz nut milk smoothie with a protein supplement per day for $134 (total, plus tax and tip). (You can also purchase whole food snacks and/or a meal as a part of your cleanse, but I elected to wait and gauge my hunger and make my own real food as I needed it - which I did). Every morning for 3 days, my fresh juice was delivered right to my doorstep in eco-friendly mason jars. I really appreciated the convenience and enjoyed most of the juice concoctions, especially the ones that were vibrantly vegetal in flavor and green in color. Unfortunately, there were a few things that I wish had gone differently and that now I know for next time. First of all, tell the proprietor what you want and if you want a complete break down of the juice ingredients. I guess I just assumed I would receive variations of the basic flavor combinations on the regular juice menu (which all sounded delicious), but that's not the case with the cleanse package, unless your specifically ask for it. Also, if you want 3-4 (or more) different varieties of juices per day (to keep it interesting), you also have to make that clear. Some days I received 32 ozs each of only two different juice combinations so I got bored pretty quickly. (Actually on this issue, I was told that was the only option because otherwise they would need to give me 5 (!) small mason jars per day, but I consented to this approach because I thought I would be receiving 2 days worth of juice at a time and so I could switch it up myself. This didn't end up being the case.) I also would have preferred smaller jars with individual servings so that the second serving of juice wouldn't oxidize in the half empty jars for a few hours, which definitely changed the flavor. Lastly, keep in mind that Healthy on Lark is not offering some groupon mail-order juice products with fancy labels and instructions. Make sure you do your own independent and thorough research about juice cleansing and if you're not feeling great, communicate with the proprietor as soon and as much as possible.

The shake was delicious. I took the meal home and I will say to my surprise I felt like they put a very small amount of catfish compared to everything else in the place but the catfish was pretty good. I was happy to see they didn't fry it with cornmeal. The eggs was well seasoned with salt and pepper and cheese. The grits were slightly bland, but it wasn't the worst grits that I've tried.
