Just went to bare for the first time and it was amazing! Being a vegetarian, I get extremely excited about plant based eating establishments, especially when they're local. The staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. They were able to answer all of the questions that I had regarding ingredients that I was unfamiliar with. For being such a small space, their menu is very extensive, it was very difficult to choose from all of the smoothies and bowls. I decided to go with their build-your-own-option because I had never seen that offered at any other place before. The girl at the counter talked me through the process and made suggestions. I was very pleasantly surprised with my creation and I could tell that all of the ingredients were very high quality. Needless to say, I am very excited to try more of their smoothies and bowls in the future. This place is a hidden gem and I am SO happy they are in Albany! read more

BARE is my go to when I want a really good açaí bowl with quality ingredients. I'm only giving 4 stars because I do wish the bowls were a little more affordable ($13 base) & there was more consistency in getting the order right. There have been a few times when I ask for strawberry mix-in and end up with raspverry or get the wrong granola topping, etc... I'm not super picky so this isn't a complete deal breaker but it would be nice to have exactly what I ordered/was in the mood for. Otherwise, highly recommend! read more

Happened to have some time between appointments and wanted to find someplace to get a healthy snack- checked yelp and happy to find a smoothie place on Western Avenue- in Stuyvesant Plaza- however if you gps the location you drive around the plaza thinking they closed- you need to drive around the plaza and look for The Hot Yoga studio and it is right next door- the parking is limited- I found a spot around the corner from the shop- Went In and found a really cute well decorated place-I loved all the BARE signs- Nice size menu- easy to understand- great superfood menu as well- açaí berry bowls- smoothies - lots to choose from- we choose a Blueberries muffin( my daughter said it was awesome- would do it again) and I had a Tequila- less Sunrise ( I deleted the mango- but loved the beet juice and coconut flavors!!) We got the OG waffles on the kids menu and they were amazing and so was the baby blue smoothie bowl. I also got a green juice which was great but I was confused by the container they served it in. It is a literal 32 oz plastic soup container with a hole cut out for the straw. Quite embarrassing to walk around with it. Please get real cups for them it's not cute. The prices are also a little bit unreasonable ($9 for a 12ox juice??) the lavender coffee was horrible. read more

This was my first time here. I'd never even heard if it until a hairdresser recommended it. It sounded interesting. And I love healthy stuff. So I figured it'd be a win-win. The girls at the counter were so cute and friendly. They welcomed me and offered suggestions. I went with the Berry Bowl because of the ingredients; I wanted something with almond butter. As I sat in my car eating away I realized something. There was peanut butter in this and...you guessed it, I am allergic. I thought I had misread the ingredients and in addition to almond butter there was also peanut butter. I went back in and reread the menu. And I asked, is this almond butter or peanut butter? There was some stammering and then the young man behind the counter accepted responsibility for making it wrong and gave me a new bowl with almond butter. I was told to let them know if I wasn't feeling okay. Which was sweet and reminded me of CPR when your first action is to say "ARE YOU OK? ARE YOU OKAY?" But ultimately this could have been a disaster. I had to quickly rush home but I would have really appreciated a refund. Between the bowl and the tip I was pushing $15. I would have asked for one but time was of the essence. Anyway, I got around to eating the new bowl and it just wasn't for me. It had a lot of textures - smooth, crunchy, chewy - but very little taste. I would have given a slightly higher rating but the peanut butter mishap was really just so dangerous. Not to ME. I'll live another day. I'm not going to die if I eat it. But I think of some mom or dad getting their kid a "healthy" treat and they get the opposite. Bare is the best! First off, it's location is so convenient to anyone in the Albany area, especially with it being in Stuyvesant plaza, and a plus that it is in the back so you don't have to deal with the rest of the big parking lot and never have to walk far. Inside, it's always so clean and has a great atmosphere. The employees are always so friendly and helpful. I've never tried anything on the menu that I haven't liked, but my go to is the Harry PBJ bowl or smoothie.. SO GOOD. Can't wait to try the new fall bowls this week! read more

Ok, I've given this place a fair shake, and my final evaluation is two stars. They earn one star for location, and one star for, well, I don't know; just feel like they are better than a one star establishment. Here's where they lose three stars: Minus one for inconsistency. Every time I go the bowl is different. It could be a case of more toppings, less toppings, icy açaí, flavorless açaí, too thick açaí, etc. At a really good restaurant, consistency is key. You need to know what you're getting, and at Bare, it's always a mystery. I brace myself for that first bite, knowing that I'll either be elated or disappointed. If I'm keeping score, I've only been elated 20% of the time. Minus another star for wait times. I get it, they only have a few blenders and a few workers, but waiting 20-25 minutes for an açaí bowl is unacceptable. A few times I've been, I've waited less than 10, but more often the wait approaches 20-25. Finally, I have to take away that last star for a few random things: 1. Wooden spoons. I'm all for saving the planet, but I feel like a kid with a Hoodsie cup and my wooden spoon. I wouldn't mind except you can kinda taste the wood, and the ingredients get absorbed by it. 2. Music. Today Adele was playing, which was a pleasant surprise. However, I've been there with things like Drake blaring and the workers yelling across the counter, "Alexa, turn it up/turn it down!" The speaker is literally on the counter where people are eating and it just seems disruptive. 3. Ample seating....lack thereof. The counter in the front is ok for sitting at, but you literally feel like you're in the way. People are waiting all around you and it's very crowded. The back could have more seating if it weren't for the couch. 4. Price. I spent 25.00 today for two mediocre bowls. Enough said. It's a shame that BARE isn't quite what it could be. Maybe with experience and growth, it will earn a few stars back! read more

I was here a month or 2 ago. The people that worked there seemed very nice but were very overwhelmed and crowded behind the counter. I ordered the açaí asana bowl. It was not good. I consider myself to be a smoothie bowl expert. I make them myself and also have had some of the besttttt in California, mexico & hawaii! The base had no flavor and the fruit they used as a topping was very bizarre. It's a berry base bowl yet the toppings were a mushy apple slice, pineapple, apricot maybe? I'm updating my review because the owner private messaged me wanting to correct the issues and addressed my concerns in a professional way and I respect that. I defiantly love the product I just don't have the time to wait for the items, that's on me and hopefully when the kids are a little older I'll get back here but I do recommend for a good bowl or smoothie. Update! On my last post I mentioned the long wait time, it seems the owner replied and suggested to order online to avoid 15 minute wait times. So I took her advice and placed an online order. The soonest available time was 30 minutes from when I was ordering but I was 10 minutes away and had to grab the smoothie and run to work so I typed in the custom notes "please have ready in 15 minutes thank you" as I arrive they're finishing the smoothie and the girl st the counter told me "don't count on us having this ready when you write that. The wait time is thirty minutes for online orders, don't write in a time suggestion again" ummmm oh? You can't make a smoothie in under 30 minutes? Are you serious. Even if there were 10 orders ahead of mine I still don't know why it would take 30 minutes to blend up a smoothie. I can get a burger at 5 guys in ten minutes when they're slammed. But a smoothie will take 30? That's not normal and definitely not how you should talk to customers. If you actually feel you're THAT busy maybe hire more employees or buy more blenders so that customers can get product in a timely fashion. I actually really like their product and like supporting small but I'm also a busy mom and work two jobs so I don't have thirty minutes to stand around waiting for smoothies. There are many smoothie and bowl places popping up that aren't chains I can support instead. Cute little space, the place was packed when I arrived, had to wait about 15 minutes for my bowl, I wasn't in a rush so not a huge deal but could be if I was on my lunch break. When I found BARE I was pretty happy. The first visit was good besides the long long wait times. Only to find out that they gave me and my husband the wrong order. When he went in to let the workers know...one of the workers complained about the fact that he didn't know the order was wrong before he left the store and then she says to him "and by the way the strawberry cheesecake bowls are seasonal and ending in June" Which may have been true but why would a workers state this to a customer who is already frustrated about a long wait time and being forced to go back in due to a incorrect order. But we gave it the benefit of the doubt and returned. We ordered several things curbside pickup because of I am immunocomprised. We drove away and items were missing and we were in a rush, so I didn't check the bag until we arrived to where we were going. I just let them keep the 6 dollars for the items that were missing because I was to tired to return or call and report the missing item. The very last time, we ordered curbside pick up a woman came out with my bag and said "Just so you know, we don't do curbside pickup anymore." It would be nice if this fact updates in the ordering app. Any who the last time I went will be the last time I order from bare, the smoothie bowls were so watery that I had to take them home and fix them up in my Ninja blender. read more

The smoothie was very hard to get down - it was so seedy it stuck in my throat a lot and there was no flavor. I ordered a Very Berry Bowl with a spinach mix in. The bowl was pretty tasty until about halfway in when I came across 3 full spinach leaves. I'm not sure if this was because the spinach wasn't blended well enough or if throwing some spinach in a blended bowl is what they consider a 'mix in'. Either way, not acceptable. read more

Legitimately the best place on Earth! Their staff is super nice and helpful. The bowls are amazing, beautiful, delicious and most importantly healthy. I love that there's a variety of different bowls to choose from compared to basic bowl places that serve like only 3 basic options. BARE on the other hand keeps things interesting with their new bowl flavor of the week that changes every week and Waffle Wednesday! Their vegan and gluten free waffles are phenomenal!
