It says they close at 2pm but when I arrived at 1:28pm, the door was locked, the closed sign was on the door and they just stared at me from the counter. Quaint little eatery located on Jay Street in downtown. The shop is located on a side street that cannot be accessed via car so you'll have to park on State St. and walk to the shop. As I walked into the shop I was immediately drawn to the old world decor. This place has a real homely feel. The rustic seating and table tops made from old wooden doors (not pictured) is a sight to see. In addition to the juices, smoothies, bowls, and oatmeal, the shop also sales limited edition items such as holiday syrups and pickled veggies. I also noticed dog treats located at the register. Update: I went here for my second time today and it was crazy busy. Super crowded and just nuts. The reason I felt the need to come on here and update my review is because I've seen people on here giving negative reviews because of this. Shut Up. It's a small place with great bowls. It's going to get crowded and it's going to get busy. Shut Up. It was an hour drive to get to this place. I'm home now but if it was still open I would definitely go back out there. Amazing. The açaí bowl was delicious. Oh wow that just added some stuff under the c and over the i. The coffee was also delicious. I put some kind of milk or creamer in there that was so good I wanted to call back and ask what it was. I should have called back. Places like Raw really make me wish I lived in the area because they are so darn good and I can't find anything comparable closer to home. Really diverse selection of smoothies. I went with the Campus Crush smoothie which had banana, pineapple and orange for fruit made with coconut milk. Perfection. It tasted so good and I felt better after drinking it! My partner got the Mocha Joe smoothie which a slew of ingredients that worked amazingly well together - banana, cold brew, cocoa and almond milk. I had some and loved it too. No complaints from either of us. The smoothies aren't cheap but you're getting real quality that you can feel good and not guilty about drinking so I think it's definitely worth it! read more

I love raw I go almost everyday. The goods great, the girls that work here are awesome but they definitely need either more people working or better training. I've come in multiple time after they told me my order would be ready at whatever time and I come in at the time they give me and ... of course it's not ready. I come during my 30 minute lunch break and Ive tried to call before hand and place and order and they say it'll be ready in time and it's just not. Can't say I'm surprised. Whenever I've walked through the doors of this establishment, it was like leaving Schenectady and entering the halls of Niskayuna High School (ya know what I mean? ). I made, paypal'd, and tipped for an online order... I arrived about 5 minutes after the latest time allotted, and waited at least 4 minutes before ever being acknowledged (which was TONS of fun to encounter, while being snickered and smirked at by the construction workers who were receiving STELLAR customer service). Once my existence was notified and approved, the snarky juice jerk behind the counter let me know the order I made 40 minutes ago (now) wasn't ready *holding music* Another 10-12 minutes for the order that wasn't started.. I decided to venture out of my comfort zone of traditional americanos and plain lattes and boldly tried their Maple Latte! OMG what a surprise it was! Omg. I've been picking up orders here for GrubHub for a few months. One girl there is always nice, the other one is always rude and snooty like I'm bothering her. So, to pick up an order on Jay St, u have to either pay to park or take a chance. Normally I take a chance run to get it and run back. The business was super small and when I walked in the line was to the door, so crowded. Waited in line for 45 minutes, ordered a "deluxe" bowl- 8.00 and my other half ordered a "build your own"-5.00 plus 50 cents-$1.75 per topping.. after working out at the Y I went over to RAW to grab a smoothie I'm allergic to bananas and I stated that before I made my order, I asked for the green dream since it had zero bananas in it, and upon making it she did not change her gloves, or do an equipment swap she was already making another drink with bananas in it, she took the blender wand from that smoothie then cross contaminated it with mine, as I watched this happen I questioned her, she gave me a dirty look and gave me attitude and responded "all of our drinks have banana" instead of realizing of her mistake. Being a chef and having been in the industry for many years I'm constantly watching and paying attention to how my food is prepared. Mind you the place had a total of 6 people in it and it was not busy at the least. As well these two women have to be the most miserable people on planet earth I asked where the produce comes from, instead of a simple response, she was upset as if I was challenging her integrity, all in all I will never go back there. The açaí smoothie base wasn't overly sugary while the bananas on top were sweet and ripe! The flavors worked together perfectly! There were only five or six seats inside, and with the high temperatures this week, I wish there were more seats. But the shop was already crowded to the max so it's understandable. This is a tough one. I've been a few times over the last several months, and each time I think maybe, just maybe, the service will have improved. Depending on who takes your order, you may feel disgruntled or satisfied....a few of the girls are very sweet, a couple are less so. Smiling when helping a customer is always a nice touch. If you can squeeze in the door, which usually has many people lined up next to it, make sure you figure out who's waiting, and who needs to order. Otherwise, you could stand there for several minutes thinking you're in line to order, but you're just standing there among others who are waiting for their orders. Waiting. And waiting. And waiting. And waiting. Make sure you have at least 30 minutes to spare when attempting to get a bowl here. It can take up to a 1/2 hr to finally receive your order, but you can pass the time listening to the numerous customers grumbling about the lack of efficiency. You will eventually get your food (I promise), and you will most likely find it well worth the negative experience leading up to finally hearing your name called. The bowls are to die for. They are loaded with fresh fruit, granola, peanut butter, etc. In addition, Raw offers a nice variety of soup, oatmeal, drinks, and prepackaged items, such as health bars and beef jerky (might not be beef...maybe some sort of vegan type imitation). This place has so much potential, but to be honest, they need to make some serious changes to the infrastructure and customer service. They've basically outgrown their space for the volume of people flocking there every day. Efficiency in the bowl-making needs improvement, as the demands are outweighing the ability to create bowls in an expedited fashion. I hope the owner attempts to fix the inadequacies, because the concept is something to write home about. UPDATE: They've recently opened in Albany and I had some hope and things would be better. Nope. The service is still awful and to make matters worse, the açaí is icy and lacks flavor. I've been to several,other açaí bowl places in the capital district and have realized that Raw falls short on many levels....service, quality, timeliness. Will not be back. read more
