Tip in advance or be punished!!!…read more I paid with a card, no pre-tip. The girl behind the counter pulled my receipt, looked at it, looked at me, and the mood turned dark. She became agitated; slamming ingredients around at the blender, yelling to the other girl in the back. I should have cancelled and left right then and there. Store was dead -- one couple waiting at the pickup end, nobody in line. She wasn't slammed. Five, ten minutes go by. She hands the couple their order, makes another smoothie in a blender and sets it on the far end of the pickup counter AWAY from me without a word or a glance my way. It's bright red. I ordered strawberry-banana-blueberry. This had no blue in it anywhere. I figured it wasn't mine. Another five or ten minutes pass. She's glancing at me from afar now and then. Still no blue smoothie shows up. Finally I walk back down and ask about it. She tells me the red one from ten minutes ago was mine. I realize she had let me stand there waiting as retaliation for not tipping upfront. Dirty trick... Here's the part that gets me: I tip in cash, at the end, based on how the service goes. That's the whole point of tipping. But the second she saw no tip on the card screen, she'd already assumed how this was going to go and fulfilled her own prophecy. Places need to stop showing employees who tipped in advance and who didn't. I've watched this same thing happen at Five Guys -- tip upfront or face slower service and vaguely deniable hassles like mine. Never going back to this one.

I stopped by Smoothie King in East Greenbush for a smoothie break recently, located in the old TCBY…read morespace in a small strip plaza in front of Target. They offer a good variety of healthy smoothies including fruit blends, vegan, energy and immune boosts and acai bowls. I ordered a small Gladiator Cold Brew smoothie ($6.99 plus tax) which was made to order quickly and had a blend of protein, bananas, cold brew, ice, and milk, blended together. This smoothie was cold, sweet and had the coffee flavor I needed on a hot and humid day outside. They also do mobile orders with the pickup counter in the front. The smoothies and bowls are made ahead of time for those orders and kept cool in a glass cooler until the customer or delivery driver comes in to pickup.

Upon entry there was a mass of people and no direction from staff that there was no wait to order. There was no greeting and no acknowledgment. The space is cute but decor seemed unfinished. I waited 37 minutes for one drink. Instead of first in and first out, I literally watched baristas greeting friends and family and making their drinks first as already paid customers stood by and waited. Not cool! Also, training shouldn't take place on opening day. Baristas shouldn't have to scramble asking how much ice they need to use or who knows how to make matcha when the cups are 30 high and there are 60 people waiting. No joke, they had cups lined up and instead of working together striping cups with syrup while shots were pulled, 3 would stand there while the fourth made one drink. It was an allergy to efficiency. The last straw for me was watching a person who ordered a red eye get handed their espresso and told to assemble their drink at the drip coffee station around the corner which on a side note is low enough for a child to access. You should never pay to make your own drink. I think in time they can learn not to trip on each other and learn how much ice a cup takes without asking but basic customer service should be on point from the get go. The lack of almond milk is a personal deal breaker for me especially since they seemingly offer every other kind of milk. Kudos for the in house syrups and the drink that I did get was good, just not $8 plus tip good.

My explanation was dismissed, despite receiving this same service here many times before without issue. Turning away every guest with an allergy, regardless of how it is managed, is concerning. The interaction felt ignorant and uninformed. It was also difficult to watch Emma be warm and welcoming to other guests while treating me differently, which made the experience feel discriminatory. After years of being a loyal customer, I expected better and I will advise anyone I've recommended to no longer support this establishment.

Loop is a smoothie and café spot that focuses on healthier options like smoothie bowls, avocado…read moretoast, coffee, and fresh drinks, with a bright and modern space filled with greenery and colorful presentation. We walked into a café where the relaxed atmosphere makes it a nice place to stop for breakfast or a quick break, the kind of space where the environment is just as much part of the experience as the food. The interior has a fresh, airy energy with plenty of natural light and seating that encourages lingering, though finding a spot can take some patience during busier hours. The smoothie bowls were the main highlight. The texture was thick and well blended, and the fruit combinations worked well together without feeling overly heavy. We tried a few options and found the bowls balanced, with the toppings adding texture and flavor without overwhelming the base. The avocado toast was also a solid option, especially with the toppings adding more flavor instead of making it feel too basic, and the bread held up well against the spread. The drinks are another reason to visit, with smoothies and matcha options fitting the overall concept, and the coffee menu gives a good alternative for anyone who wants something less fruit-focused. The café also has some creative drink choices, which makes it feel more like a full café experience rather than just a smoothie shop. The biggest thing to keep in mind is the wait time. The food is made fresh, so orders can take longer than expected during busy periods, and allowing extra time is worth considering if you are visiting during peak hours. Service is friendly and the staff handle the flow efficiently, but the pace of the kitchen can slow down when the café fills up. Seating is also limited, so the experience works best when you are not in a hurry. Loop is a good option if you are looking for a café with healthier food choices and a nice atmosphere. The smoothie bowls and drinks are the main reason to visit, and the bright, welcoming space makes it easy to spend some time there. It is not the fastest stop, but the quality and overall experience make it worth checking out.
