This was my first time in the state of New York! An investment property we purchased brought me to the quaint village of Athens, NY. While exploring the Hudson River Ferry dock we stumbled across a culinary jewel, Stella's #2. First off, they had everything from Pancakes to Pizza the selection was vast! The Lunch special from 11-2pm boats massive slices of "NY STYLE" pizza. A mere $5.00 gets you 2 slices (half pie ) & a drink, which the Wife selected ‍ I went with the Chicken Parmesan w spaghetti. The portions were stark contrast to those on CA, they skimp us on all products , so we could get used to this. Prepare to grab a to go box bc you'll need it!. The restaurant was exceptionally clean & the staff is amazing, our waitress reminded us more of an old friend who happened to be serving food. A Salt of the earth people feel, a welcoming mood. We've already been here TWICE & are headed back this morning for pancakes . I highly recommend Stella's Pizza & Pancakes to ANYONE who wants a superb NY experience, if you're in ATHENS. I ordered take out from this location on August 14 while my family and I were on vacation. Three of our items were raw when we ate them; chicken fingers, buffalo bites, and fried shrimp. My three year old nephew and I bite into this raw chicken finger. I called multiple times about a refund. Was told a refund was submitted to someone who does the refunds. Haven't received any type of refund. Now when you call the location is closed until further notice. Also waited an extra 20 minutes in the restaurant after my food was supposed to be ready from the order pickup time. read more

Stopped on Sunday morning and it was a pleasantly surprising amazing breakfast! It's small and quiet but had a spot for us right away. It's across the street from the water so it's be great for a to go order too. The staff were very friendly and took our order right away. The portions are pretty big at a great price and the food all was very good. I got the big breakfast and it was in fact big. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the waffle was large and the home fries (extra crispy) were very good. Their wings were a good size with great crispy outside. Definitely recommended! read more

The best thing about this place is that you can take it to go and walk across for some killer water views. Now..what do pizza and pancakes have in common? ABSOLUTELY N-O-T-H-I-N-G! Seriously. This is the worst mix ever. Super confusing. Confusing menu. So many options but you're not really sure what they're good for. Naturally pizza is one of them and you can never go wrong with pizza, right? Pizza was fine. Just grabbed a couple slices to go. I would NEVER dine here. Covid or not. The ambiance is not appealing at all. You have a killer view outside with a vibe killer inside. A menu so large you get lost. It's basically a diner? But a pizzeria? But a pub? But you eat here? So you can get spaghetti and meatballs? I think? But also chicken and waffles type of thing. Super confusing. Not my fave. At all. What's also not my fave is the fact that they have a plexi glass to protect themselves from us (while we're wearing masks) and masks ARE required but apparently not for employees. Hmm..also super confusing. The person that helped me had no mask on, no gloves, yet she was handling our food. As i peeked to the kitchen, several people were not wearing masks. SUCH A TURN OFF. When I went to leave I decided to grab myself a little to go container of hot pepper flakes (that was never offered to me nor did I want her to handle it after touching her face and my card and the register while wearing no mask). I was abruptly stopped while she said well you know "covid" as she's there without a mask and I am. Funny. Lol. Anyways. This place is probably the only place open. Very disappointed with my meal, I had to dish out my plate that I got for delivery and cut the broccoli. The stalks were huge and tough and the chicken was just big chunks. Bet very happy . Very good taste though! read more

Ordered online. Fee charged for online ordering which I don't understand. I would think online ordering would be encouraged because of efficiency and getting order straight in writing without error. Also asks for tip on site, which I left 10%. I get there to pick up order and there is confusion. And girl behind counter has a who cares attitudes standing there waiting.... Terrible food. Went there three times, first was for dinner after they opened. It was fair at best. BBQ chicken wrap was prob 90% sauce and a little chicken. Said I'd give it another chance and went for breakfast. The French toast was burnt bread with a raw squishy egg center. Gross. Then today I gave them one last shot for lunch. Cheeseburger looked like it came from a frozen box. Idk what the cook did to the bin but it was pure grease and just fell apart. I had a lunch special of eggplant rollstink with spaghetti and marinara sauce and garlic bread. I was surprised at how good the food was. Usually I judge a place like this by its sauce, and this sauce was rich and homemade-tasting, thick and flavorful. The garlic bread was made not with butter or with olive oil, so that could've been a little better. The service was friendly, and I enjoyed looking out at the river. looking forward to going back soon! read more

The pictures on yelp are out of date. They had a beautiful re model that made the atmosphere much more welcoming and modern. I come for breakfast often because they are fast, polite, clean, and the food is always good. They do a mean breakfast and always leave me satisfied, but the coffee is weak, I get coffee elsewhere. When I'm in a rush I know I can come here and not have any time wasted and get a great price. Love to sit outside during the warm season, would love a bigger patio situation. They do a good job of staying on top of their tables and have a good amount of regulars. The views of the river from the park across the street will start your day off right. the had booths before the re model and I wish they would install a couple again. read more

We have eaten here several times. Love the food! Tonight we ordered 2 calzones. Pepperoni for her and sausage and peppers and onions for me. My peppers and onions were raw. The mozzarella cheese was barely melted. The top crust was brown while the bottom was almost cooked through. Her pepperoni calzone had no ricotta cheese.. Maybe their usual cook had the night off. We will return because it's local and as I said we have never had a bad meal there before. read more

So happy this place is open again! The food is great and they deliver nearby like catskill or coxsackie up to five miles away. The food is fresh and it's a great place to sit down for a quick lunch or dinner. The staff is so friendly and the interior is so nice! read more

The penne a la vodka is amazing here, HUGE portion, easily 3 meals' worth. The pizza is also very good, perfect proportions of gooey cheese and sauce. In the $50 range for a family of 4 to eat here. No kids' menu, per se, but they will do a kids' portion. Nice location, walk across the street to the riverfront park. Weekend nights can be very busy, you may have to park around the corner and walk and wait a bit. Friendly, attentive staff. We came in close to closing one night, my son had had a rough day and wanted a specific type of pizza. We were just getting slices so as not to take up much time but they didn't have the kind he wanted. I insisted it was fine but they went out of their way to accommodate him. Very happy that there is finally a good pizza option in Athens. The pizza tastes like it is supposed to. It's not the best I have ever had, but it is far from the worst. The calzones are excellent-made with both mozzarella and ricotta. Good for standard pasta/red sauce dishes. If you're looking for this type of Italian, you will not be disappointed. Totally hit and miss on the food. Nothing is consistent from taste to portion size to freshness. Extremely slow getting food out of the kitchen. Understaffed. Waitstaff not only has to take care of tables, but answer the phone for delivery and take out orders. Often out of items. Everyone multitasks and tries hard, but are constantly having to apologize to customers for everything. Definitely not the 4 Seasons, but even Stellas needs a manager overseeing the operation. You need to give your staff the tools they need, to do their jobs. Otherwise, a very frustrating experience for staff and customers. Put on the air conditioning and clean your vents. The waitstaff and kitchen people look like they will drop due to temperature and lack of good ventilation. That being said, nice people working there that try and make you feel welcome. read more

People on the phone are always very friendly and when you show up they are just as friendly in person. Good food at great prices. Pizza is constantly good and there is a lot more on the menu. Try it for breakfast too.

My first critique would be inconsistent, with the exception of the pizza, it's always undercooked. Turn up the oven! Being a couple blocks away I want it to be good and successful. So we keep trying them, asking for well done doesn't seem to translate so we preheat the cast iron in preparation of a par-baked pizza. The inconsistency seems to come with change of shifts/chef. Sometimes the chicken cutlets are right and sometimes they're half the portion cooked to a pulp. Sometimes the black olives in the Greek salad are pitted and then sometimes like last week they aren't, ouch. Overall the flavors are good, there's a good foundation but the preparation seems untrained at times, usually either overcooked or undercooked. Just trying to patronize the local establishment without being annoyed. They're all hard workers and the staff/ servers are great, more of a training/ learning curve issue in the kitchen. read more
