Falafel w/ garlic yogurt dip & cayenne based dip.
    Roger K.

I have been searching for places that serve good falafel for over 50 years. I am usually disappointed. I was far from disappointed today when I ordered a small order of Falafel ($5) here to have as an appetizer with a sandwich that I was getting from a different vendor nearby. Five pieces, made fresh, were the best falafel I've had in years. They were not dry, they were flavorful, they were not greasy, and they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They came with sauces on the side, a white one (authentic street style) with garlic and yogurt, and a cayenne-based orange one with plenty of flavor and just a bit of spiciness. The menu has plenty of additional items that will surely have us returning. Small plates of Dolme, Hummus, Mutabel, or Muhammara; Rice Bowls, Wraps, or Salad Bowls, to which you can add your choice of chicken, beef, lamb, or falafel. They also have Baklava or Date & Walnut cake for dessert. Service was friendly and efficient.

I liked the menu &…read morereviews, and It was located in small strip of businesses on Guideboard Road near the Halfmoon Diner and Sorrentinos Deli. It was easy to place an online order. It is an open Kitchen mostly takeout place with several booths/tables for dine in, if wanted. Ordered for pickup: Chicken Bihari Boti, six pieces Lamb Curry with Rice The chicken was very tender and delicious. A small salad was included. I would order this dish again even though the menu has many enticing items. The Lamb Curry included a tasty, flavorful white rice that complemented the curry well. The owner included extra sauces including a Mint-Yogurt one that was delicious. I should have ordered one of the many varieties of Naan, and next time I will. Check out their menu. The owner greeted you with a smile. Two others prepared the food. While another customer (Gyros) and I waited for our orders at 11:30 am (I arrived early), the owner served us a sample of their Kheer after asking us if we had a milk allergy. This traditional Indian Rice dessert was far superior in flavor and texture to what I have eaten at other local restaurants that serve it. (Kheer is a creamy, traditional dessert made by simmering rice with whole milk, sugar, and aromatics like cardamom and saffron.) The owner even included a complimentary serving of Kheer with my order. Nice! They thank you for your order when you leave. The restaurant was pristine including the recently washed windows. Parking is plentiful. I want to order food from here for my family who likes this cuisine.

I always compare out of state prices to California prices, so this was a great deal. The flavor was great and the chicken and rice were incredibly soft. I need to get back over to Halal Palace and take a better picture of the chicken over rice, because…read morethe ones I have taken in the past don't do it justice. But I did see on Facebook that such a thing is possible. Holy moly is this dish delicious. Deeply seasoned chicken, over seasoned rice, with hot sauce, and white sauce. There are some token vegetables that resemble a kind of salad on the side, so you can pretend this is a balanced meal. But they do help to break up the heaviness of it all, which is important. And on top of its deliciousness, this is a value to boot. Personally, the lamb doesn't quite do it for me, since it's more of a ground lamb product than whole pieces of meat. But when you are a place that is building a reputation on value, ground lamb product isn't a deal breaker. It just helps to know that going in. The hard thing for me now is coming to Troy Kitchen and getting anything but the chicken over rice. How has this place not been reviewed on Yelp yet? Maybe it was because they didn't have a listing. But I haven't met anyone yet who has tried this stall and not loved it. Maybe they haven't loved the lingering taste of garlic. Amateurs. The pro tip is to grab a coconut Dominican icey from across the street to cleanse your palate. Fortunately, dessert uses a different stomach.

The portions are large, and the food was good, however my food arrived with no sauce is on the food or with the food which was disappointing. The white sauce in the hot sauce to me, really complement all of the flavors of Halal food and tie everything together. They did include two free waters with my meal, which was a very nice touch. I will certainly give this establishment another try, and update my review but I was disappointed. Update... I ordered this food when the restaurant had been open approximately 20 minutes. After writing the review I ended up throwing the food out as I realized that it was not edible, not fresh and had so much salt that I almost choked. I'm quite confident that this place may have decent food, but what I received clearly was not made that day and considering that the food arrived 45 minutes late - I'm assuming they gave me the previous days reheated and re-seasoned food. I will not spend another dime here. Sorry. I hope this was just a singular instance, and hope they can take this constructively but I wasted $20 and had to go out somewhere else to get food which completely defeated the purpose of ordering food to be delivered. If you look at my reviews, I am honest and fair. I don't give bad reviews unless it truly is deserved. Unfortunately here, it certainly was.

The place was redone with a cozy dining room and the order counter towards the back. You order and pay at the counter first, then take a seat and your food is brought out to you. The menu offerings include kabobs, salad bowls, sandwiches, Persian side dishes, daily special entrees and cooler drinks (Pepsi products). The pricing is moderate, most $12-$22. I stopped by Neda for dinner recently. At the counter, I ordered the Kofteh ($16 plus tax) served with rice and salad, which happened to be a daily special offering. Be aware that they will add a 3 percent credit card surcharge on top of the total (including tax and tip) and they really should post signage at the register about the surcharge. Anyways, I took a seat in the dining area and my food was brought out to me all at once with special sauces including their spicy sauce (green). The Kofteh was comprised of 3 tender beef meatballs (grainy texture) smothered in a savory orange sauce with yellow split peas, topped with potato sticks. The side of rice was a good portion filling up much of the square plate. The side salad had chopped romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes. red onions, and seasonings. After I was done, I was able to head out quickly and on my way.
