I need to get back over to Halal Palace and take a better picture of the chicken over rice, because the ones I have taken in the past don't do it justice. But I did see on Facebook that such a thing is possible. Holy moly is this dish delicious. Deeply seasoned chicken, over seasoned rice, with hot sauce, and white sauce. There are some token vegetables that resemble a kind of salad on the side, so you can pretend this is a balanced meal. But they do help to break up the heaviness of it all, which is important. And on top of its deliciousness, this is a value to boot. Personally, the lamb doesn't quite do it for me, since it's more of a ground lamb product than whole pieces of meat. But when you are a place that is building a reputation on value, ground lamb product isn't a deal breaker. It just helps to know that going in. The hard thing for me now is coming to Troy Kitchen and getting anything but the chicken over rice. How has this place not been reviewed on Yelp yet? Maybe it was because they didn't have a listing. But I haven't met anyone yet who has tried this stall and not loved it. Maybe they haven't loved the lingering taste of garlic. Amateurs. The pro tip is to grab a coconut Dominican icey from across the street to cleanse your palate. Fortunately, dessert uses a different stomach. read more

I was on a mission to find the best Halal food in Troy, because I love it. I ordered the chicken and lamb over rice as well as a lamb Gyro. The portions are large, and the food was good, however my food arrived with no sauce is on the food or with the food which was disappointing. The white sauce in the hot sauce to me, really complement all of the flavors of Halal food and tie everything together. They did include two free waters with my meal, which was a very nice touch. I will certainly give this establishment another try, and update my review but I was disappointed. Update... I ordered this food when the restaurant had been open approximately 20 minutes. After writing the review I ended up throwing the food out as I realized that it was not edible, not fresh and had so much salt that I almost choked. I'm quite confident that this place may have decent food, but what I received clearly was not made that day and considering that the food arrived 45 minutes late - I'm assuming they gave me the previous days reheated and re-seasoned food. I will not spend another dime here. Sorry. I hope this was just a singular instance, and hope they can take this constructively but I wasted $20 and had to go out somewhere else to get food which completely defeated the purpose of ordering food to be delivered. Hands down one of the best gyros I've had! It's comparable to my favorite spots in London and Berlin. In their case, it's the super-tender, flavorful, fall apart in your mouth lamb. I used to eat Halal Palace every week. Loved Chicken and lamb over Rice. Went back on Friday July 19th, grabbed my usual, food was decent. I must have left my credit card there accidentally. I logged in to check my credit card statement, I see my $6.50 order, but also two fraudulent $100+ charges the next day that I never placed or authorized. (Crown Fried Chicken is name that Halal Palace shows as on credit card statements) . Credit card company says they were placed a minute apart. The menu could not be simpler and that makes me so happy. No frills, quick, inexpensive, and delicious. $6 gets you a generous portion of lamb, chicken, and/or falafel over rice covered in their delicious white sauce. I prefer to get the lamb and chicken mix. It's as close to halal street food as you're going to get in the area. It's my favorite place to order from for delivery. I can easily make the $15 dollar minimum with two platters and a falafel salad to share, and it shows up fast and warm. read more

Chicken gyro tasted good but the guy behind the counter could have cared less about my business. It was a slow Saturday afternoon and he acted hungover as he sat slumped over in a chair with his head down. I don't think he said 2 words when I placed my order or gave me my food. Great place for a quick meal. If you just dropped your kid off at RPI, go by and sample the food. Get the chicken lamb combo. If you come to this place for the first time you will see 6 other start up restaurants with booths next to this one so you can find something to eat for the rest of the group you are with if they want to sample other foods. A small walk-up counter joint, part of a conglomerate of vendors at a place called "The Food Court"- sort of an indoor food truck court. I ordered the falafel plate, served with rice, salad, tzatziki yogurt sauce and hot sauce. Not great falafel- deep fried ahead of time and then warmed up and served, and so naturally a bit dry. The flavor wasn't delicate- somewhat salty and strangely acidic tasting, perhaps heightened by the vinegar-based hot sauce. The rice and salad was OK.
