We found Yanni's Too when looking for a restaurant near Albany. And WOW, the clam bake, signature calamari, and onion rings were amazing! The clam bake was off their specials menu which they had a full list of. It's a primarily a seafood restaurant but there's definitely something for everyone. They had steak on the menu if fish and crustaceans are not your thing. All around great vibes, we had a table outdoors by the marina and the view was incredible. read more

I came here for lunch and had a great experience. My group was rather large but was sat immediately without a reservation. Within minutes, our server came over and took our orders and drinks. All of the portions were HUGE. Although you don't need appetizers since you get so much food, I would still recommend the calamari sampler. The service was great, food was great and so extremely reasonable. Had a great experience and would absolutely come back and recommend to others. read more

How this only gets 3.3...? We had a great server. The food was all good. Tried the fried seafood, broiled, the BBQ, and of course I had the seafood mac and cheese. Desert was great. To top it off, their coffee is very good... I drink it black. The live music was ok if you like that kind of thing. We were seated right next to the performer and it made it hard to chat. The fact that the staff kept leaving the sliding door to the patio open, creating an uncomfortably cold draft requiring the use of a coat indoors is what keeps this from 5/5. This was because it needed maintenance and was hard for the smaller or less motivated staff to close when serving or bussing the outside tables. Great place for kids, couples, just a drink at the bar, all of it! I've been about 5 times and have sat in and outdoors and both are nice choices.i have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table and always had friendly wait staff. Tonight I had the captain calamari punch which was not too strong and tasty. My table shared appetizers of mozzarella sticks, Mediterranean calamari (my favorite of the kinds they offer) and clam chowder. My kids had the chicken finger basket and fish and chips. I had the broiled seafood trio which came with whitefish, 4 shrimp, 3 scallops, carrots, purple cabbage, rice and super fresh and crisp green beans. The others in my party had the grown up mac and cheese, nut encrusted chicken salad and fried clam basket. The only thing I heard was not great was that the Cole slaw was bland. We went here for dinner last night and it was great! Got seated inside right away, quick friendly service too. The patio looks romantic on the river. The inside kind of reminds me of those restaurants in Florida that are by the ocean and all the locals go there because they know what's up. It's nice inside and as a fisherman's daughter, I was admiring the fish on the walls. I got spicy garlic parm wings and the calimari sampler. I'll admit, I had an edible before coming here which influenced my choices. My husband had mozz sticks and fries but he doesn't have the same excuse that I do because he was the driver haha. But he enjoyed everything! My wings were kind of dry, I wish there was more sauce on them too. That's ok because the calamari was fantastic. I took a lot home and had it for lunch. Definitely worth a stop in, there's really something for everyone here. Huge menu and I want to go back to try more. Even mocktails which is great because we don't drink! read more

The lobster chowder was more like a soup. Bits of lobster that appeared to be from the lobster legs. Not at all what I expected.

I hear about Yanni's all the time. River front, great views, great vibes. I needed to try the calamari. It's famous right? It was pretty good but to be critical I have definitely had better. The taste was good, tasted mostly like fried food, and then it was tossed in a butter wine sauce that made it soggy. It was slightly disappointing. I was questioning it in my head, why toss a delightfully crispy item in a sauce prior to serving? It was good, it was pretty, but to be honestly I have definitely had better calamari at unsuspecting places. The cheese curds we got were really good. They were super garlicky, and the melba was a nice touch. They were great with marinara too. My boyfriends sandwich didn't look great, the fries seemed frozen, it was ok. Since my BF Doesn't eat calamari, I was pretty full after the app, so I got an order of clams. The clams were small, they were good, I love clams. We only got 3 beers between us, and the for-mentioned foods, our bill was over $100. It's just didn't seem justified. Perhaps we paid for the view, the atmosphere. If you look at their Instagram, Yannis Too lists a lot of accolades. I really cannot dispute a single one. They're located in a small New York town next to the Hudson, and accessible through a parking lot next to a town green (with playground and a Little Free Library, if you're traveling with kids). Parking seems good sized, but I do wonder about how packed it must get in the summer. The interior is a huge wooded room with high ceilings, but the noise doesn't echo too much. The restrooms were clean and good sized. There was a live musician when we were there, and he was clear to hear, but not too loud to prevent conversation. He also had a great, varied song selection. Now the food - it was all delicious. The seafood chowder on special was not cream based (surprising to me from New England) but hot without burning and well seasoned. They boast about having the best calamari, and theirs is definitely up there! It's well seasoned, not too much salt or breading, and tastes fresh. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium, and the garlic butter melted perfectly. The gorgonzola sauce, IMHO, is worth the extra expense though. It goes well with the bread, potato croquette, and extra can get a top so you can bring it home! The lobster mac and cheese had an actual claw, I saw it! I'm not a big tomato person, but they were well blended into the cheese sauce. Finally, their cannoli cake is homemade and tastes as such. Lots of cream and chocolate chips. Delicious lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday with his parents. The calamari is always our favorite and they have yummy cocktails and specials. I had the coconut crusted mahi tacos and they were perfect. Everyone enjoyed their meals, even the kids. The waitress was attentive and very friendly, service has always been good. We love the decor and view of the water, during summer we normally dine outside. It is expensive though, so we reserve going for special occasions. First opening of the deck on a very warm April afternoon! We went for lunch. This is about a 30 min drive for us but worth it for the casual riverfront ambience- the RI calamari is usually epic here. We had a veteran waiter who we've had before(Josh) who is personable and customer oriented. We did have to let them know that the calamari was soggy and not hot and he explained there was a new fry guy and didn't take half off as we only ate a small portion of the calamari. When you arrive there just were a few small tables, but there was a few large parties that arrived after us, although we were not in a hurry today, it did take quite a long time to receive our meals 45 minutes to an hour. The crabcake sliders were delicious. Served with sweet potato fries. And the Baja black and tacos were amazing as well. Stella Andres improves everything especially when it's served in a chalice. We will be back. I know they have not hit their seasonal stride, they always have good food drink and service and there are many restaurants in the capital District that have a water, front view and docks to pull up to. read more

We recently came to Yanni's Too to throw a party for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary and it was such an incredible party. We had to do much of the planning while out of state, but everything was taken care of for us from start to finish. The food was delicious (BBQ!) and the kids devoured the cheese, cracks, and fresh fruit while we waited for the dinner to be served. The staff were so friendly and accommodating for our large group. Worst $35 lobster roll I've ever had. I bit into two pieces of cartilage and 1 piece of shell. Very salty consisting of little pieces of lobster leg meat and not much claw or tail meat if any. I ate half of it and had the manager come by. She offered half off but I was still very disappointed with the quality. She also didn't seem very concerned about my dissatisfaction as she just stared at me after I told her about the issue. It was like she was waiting for me to come up with a solution. The last time I was there the lobster roll was good so I don't know what changed. Everything else was good. read more

Yanni's Too Syndromic Brunch Buffet RIP OFF This is a warning to all who might consider spending money and time at this eating establishment. The last time we had dinner at Yanni's Too in April of 2024, it was marginal at best. My sister-in-law made reservations for Mother's Day, given the special occasion, I assumed they would put on a much nicer affair, so our family went along with it. The food provided on the buffet was limited, tasteless, and quite obviously low grade in quality. The peel and eat shrimp were soggy because they sat in ice water way too long. The thin flexible forks, knives and spoons were the cheapest I have ever seen in a restaurant The foldable picnic tables they seated you at were covered by a plastic tablecloth. All drinks and water were served in plastic picnic cups, and they never refilled the water. Two people out of the ten of us refused to eat there and went home and fixed their own meal, one of them was a mother, I was embarrassed. Unique to this area, they automatically include a 20% tip and have to nerve to ask for an additional tip at check out. Usually I do not leave ratings, but I felt a hard-pressed responsibility to do so. We have never had a bad or disappointing meal at Yanni's Too, till now! My lunch partner and I both ordered the Greek salad with shrimp--we each got two something completely different salads. She got chickpeas and one green olive plus shrimp; I got gorganzola cheese, cranberries and a rock-hard nut or some type of sweet cereal/nut; my shrimp was under-done, and I sent it back, only to have it sit in the dish the waiter left to bring it back to cook it more; I took it home and will cook it. It tasted not only under-done but frozen (not fresh). I ordered the lobster chowder, which was also disappointing--may have been my fault in that I had expected a bisque, but, still, the flavor was meh and there were only teeny, tiny bits of lobster, with diced potatoes. read more

The lobster roll was a disappointment. I expected more than a tiny hotdog roll with a very small portion of lobster meat for $34. Some claw and tail meat would have been a nice addition to the leg meat that made up the sandwich. Sadly, the kettle chips were the best part of the meal. Service overall was good, and my shock at the portion size was not a surprise to the server. I can't be the only customer disappointed with this lunch choice. If I lived in this area, I'd be here all the time... Or at least as often as I felt the need to escape to the "tropics" just outside of Albany, NY, right on the shore of the beautiful Hudson River!! My brother and sister-in-law come here pretty often, and brought us here for our Friday evening "Welcome to Albany" dinner. It's a bit of a hike from their house in the 'burbs, but well worth the trip for what I thought (going by the name) was going to be Greek food, but turned out to be "elevated" bar food, with some awesome (though, in my mind, overpriced) specials and some great fish and seafood choices!! I was slightly less than impressed with the calamari platter lots of people (including my S.I.L) rave about; it was a little too soggy and strangely overloaded with banana peppers. There are other, more tempting apps. to choose from. For entrees, in addition to the tempting ($$$) specials, there are great soups (I had a lobster corn bisque), salads (I had an Asian-style Shanghai Salad, with Salmon added on) and plenty of additional pasta, surf, and turf choices. Service was very attentive, possibly a bit slower than average, but nothing horrific, as some reviewers here seem to have experienced. We were hoping for outdoor seats on the river, but (not surprisingly) there was a long wait on this Friday evening. The (one man) band inside was a little too loud for the space, I thought, and we sort of had to semi-yell at each other at times, but luckily his set wasn't too long. I think this is a great place to meet up with friends for a special occasion (big birthday party out on the deck...) unwind after a long week, or even as some people here on Yelp have done, motor up on your boat for a nice lunch or dinner. They were dirty and like chewing clam gum. . A tiny "cup" of seafood chowder at $7.99 was no chowder, barely seafood in it. I will definitely pick some place else for my birthday lunch next year. Nice location right on the Hudson servicing lots of seafood options, as well as meats. Masks are required inside. You need to order at the counter and you will be given a buzzer for when your food and drinks are ready. No waiters are serving customers at any of the tables. Table options inside (only 1 one 2) and many outside on the porch and under a big tent. The porch is equipped with plenty of fans making it bearable during heated days. We had the crab cakes over spinach (really tasty), the pulled pork sandwich (good), the calamari (really good), as well as some strawberry daiquiris that were really enjoyed by my friends. 1st time: Great fresh seafood. Probably the best calamari I have ever had and the king crab legs Were great as well, the broth they were cooked in was phenomenal . My GF had the pulled pork dinner with the sweet potato fries and housed it like champ. The service was great probably 4 different servers helped us with condiments, silverware etc, can't beat that. Live music was great as well. 2nd visit: Visit number two was very different on waiter experience, took a while to get drink orders and more drink orders after that, so I would like to see that get better. However the food was again delicious. Pops got the fried clam basket, the GF got the French soup and I always get the calamari which is the best in the capital region and this time went for the lobster roll dinner. Pops loved the fried clams, there were perfectly cooked, and most importantly not rubbery but very tender. My GF loves the French onion soup and I would recommend that as well. When it came to the lobster roll, I wasn't really happy with it. It just seem to lack flavor, and did not have the consistency of a really good roll like you would expect. It seemed loose and kind of watery and the bread was way to hard. Other than that you cannot and I mean you cannot match the quality, taste and style of Yanni's calamari. Place is nice. We sat outside and it was rather busy. The waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. The menu had a fair amount of selections for different palate tastes. The drink selection was also nice. The food came out quickly and correctly. It was also tasty and we did not want for anything as the waitress was over often to check on us. Too bad a great location is spoiled by very poor service....I get it. Nobody has enough help these days but really?!?!? Waiting over an hour for a table on a quiet, Wednesday afternoon? And, so we sat in the bar and had 2 mixed drinks and the poor bartender had to rush outside between mixing our 2, simple drinks to serve and clear tables outside when there were only 6 people at the bar. And, even if we had been seated, there was probably another 30 minute wait for your food to arrive. In 60 minutes, we saw 2 food orders come out from the kitchen. Finally, we're from the area and have since moved away and, know that Yannis has had this reputation for a while. So, there's something endemic regarding the reasons behind the poor service. What a joke! Such a disappointment. I would give them zero stars if I could. After a long trip , we stopped here for dinner. We waited 20 minutes for a server to tend to us (after many servers kept walking by), even after I told another waitress if we could get served and we still waited an additional 10 minutes. When my friend went to ask the manager about a server for us, they were very curt and dismissive (young, immature and unprofessional) (still should've left then) The server finally came , and she walked by us many times prior, and finally took our order. We ordered their "famous" calamari and chicken wings. The wings were good, but not impressed with the soggy calamari. Not sure why they claim to be the calamari king (its one of the tasteless and sogginess calamari I've ever eaten) For dinner , we ordered a ceaser salad with a nut crusted chicken breast (salad was soggy and chicken breast was cold and overcooked, probably cooked earlier I asked the server if it's suppose to be cold and she said, yes. Also ordered, was a burger and onion rings - onion rings were good - but cold and so was the burger. My burger was over cooked and cold and I just sent it back and had them take it off my bill. We also ordered the broiled trip seafood dinner platter. That was not hot either. Our food must have sat for awhile before it was served. The foot was cold and overpriced, the service was awful and slow and the management and hostess team were very unprofessional and immature. I read that they had such a wonderful reputation and it was one of the worst meals I've ever had and it cost $80 for dinner (minus the burger) ~ never again. The lobster was cooked great. The portion on the plate was great. The thought that I could eat half, and then have the other half the next day, was great. The waiter taking the plate and dumping it, not boxing it SUCKED. Being told that I would get another half entree made and given to me to make it right was great. Doing a fantastic job with the Covid recommendations for eat in. They already have a great outdoor area which is the preferred dining location anyway. Sitting right on the Hudson River offers neat sights and makes you feel like you're on vacation. Ordering at the counter and receiving a buzzer. Then picking it up yourself inside, in pre-packaged containers really cuts down on the server contact! Going right to the bar for drinks is no big deal at all and an easy way for everyone to distance since the bar is so massive and nice. Yanni's Too is a restaurant that my family has enjoyed since the late 1990's if I had to guess. There was originally a restaurant on Main Street that was closed; hence the Yanni's Too name. Every meal we have had over the years has been amazing. Mark Yanni says he's the Calamari King and indeed he is! I've been eating calamari since the 1970's when my grandmother made it for every holiday, so I know well prepared calamari! We enjoyed our burgers, seafood dishes and the Mother's Day buffet numerous times and everything was fresh and tasty. On a nice day, you can dine on the patio/deck and watch the boats on the river. read more

This place has a good ambiance with it being right on the river. The staff is somewhat friendly and helpful, but that area could surely be improved upon. We've had a few times where we felt like we were forgotten. We've had some food here that was very good, such as the grown up Mac (with lobster and shrimp) pulled pork, the seafood fra diavolo and the mussels. We were very happy with all of them. Their calamari is good, but I wouldn't necessarily call it King. The fish and chips I had the last time I was there was just not good. The fish was very mushy and there was too much breading. I ended up just filling up on fries. Not sure if I just got a bad batch or what. The burger is also nothing special, but it's a seafood restaurant so that is understandable. Overall the food is almost always what you'd hope for. They could easily sway me up a star with better service. The last star would take consistency. read more
