There was a pre-selected menu of many choices, I got the linguine Alfredo with broccoli. It was the best Alfredo. So creamy and the pasta and broccoli were cooked perfectly. I was sad I didn't get a photo. I had it for lunch today too! Mmm I need to come back here for dinner very asap. There were other dishes that I would have liked to have tried. We started with the calamari and it was 60% random vegetables and everything was lukewarm with the breadcrumb coating soggy and falling off. The calamari was rubbery too. The wife had a Riesling, replaced with another from Washington, and both tasted more like a Yellow Tail boxed wine. We had pizza, chicken parm, and some chicken mushroom thing. I'd love to see a video of the cooks (no way they are chefs) eating their own crap. The pizza was cold, I assume the manager levels food waiting until the table is ready - you're a muppet, by the way - and the entrees were just plain bad. No flavor, over cooked meat, over floured sauces, and an italien sausage on the pizza that was straight from Price Chopper. My mother could make better food and she's been dead 10 years. AMBIANCE: I haven't eaten here since they moved to the new location on Vista Blvd. so I was excited to go and see the new digs. The first thing I noticed after the very generic, soulless modern decor, was how much smaller the dining area felt than the old place. They expanded but in the wrong way. The ceilings got taller but the room doesn't feel like it got any bigger. Maybe I'm misremembering or maybe it just felt smaller because the tables were so close to one another but the overall area of the place felt cramped. I remember thinking there must be another dining area we can't see from the front, but there wasn't. It didn't help that we were seated in the back corner very close to a closet. A closet that, I'll mention, the manager ended up needing to get into during dinner and we all had to awkwardly scooch in and press our bodies up against the table and hold it there while he shuffled half in/half out of the closet to get a bottle of wine. Just an awful location for either a table or a closet, not to mention it was unprofessional to disrupt our dinner so you can get a bottle of wine. The only worse place for a table would be next to the bathroom. The other reason it probably felt cramped was because of the three giant, towering blue lounge booths they decided to cut the dining area off from the bar with. That's a puzzling furniture choice given how small the space is. They essentially acted as a wall closing in the dining area and making it feel that much more claustrophobic. I can't imagine how awkward it must be to be seated at the table up against them. Because everyone was on top of each other, the noise level was quite high. I had a hard time hearing what someone two seats away from mine was saying. I was constantly asking "what?!" the whole night. It also made getting up to go to the bathroom very difficult, shimmying between tables and accidentally kicking other people's chairs to get out. The overall feel of the new place is very "mess hall" or "mall food court". It no longer possesses that intimate dining experience. FOOD: The rest of my party said their food was good but I have to say I wasn't a fan of the Margherita pizza I ordered. Margherita is supposed to be Neapolitan style. e.g. light, airy, crispy but chewy crust with light toppings. This pizza crust was dense and heavy. There were whole chunks of what seemed to be canned diced tomato falling off every slice, which made for a messy and frustrating eating experience. I've had better margherita pizza just about everywhere that I've ordered one. SERVICE: I will say our server was very nice, polite, and personable. She was mostly attentive. When the food came out, of course it was someone else from the kitchen. It's never the person that took your order. Ever. And they just started putting food down in front of people they thought ordered it. Only they were wrong so we were swapping meals while they were serving. Our server came in halfway through and took over but just placing food down was very unprofessional and annoying. Just as bad as servers auctioning off the food because they can't remember who ordered what "Who got the gnocchi? Who go the pizza?" OVERALL: It was a mediocre experience overall. I would've hoped that moving to a new location meant getting a bigger place with more breathing room but nope. It was crowded and loud which tells me the owner placed profiting by cramming as many people into the space as possible over guest enjoyment. And lastly, the food (at least mine) left something to be desired. As another reviewer mentioned, if you're going to have a wood fired oven making $20 pizzas, you should probably have a decent Neapolitan dough recipe nailed down. This one missed the mark. Upon cruising up to the ordinarily empty parking lot, my friend and I realized that we, and the entire population of Bethlehem, were eager to see what the new venue would offer. We found a spot and walked up to the new entryway and were immediately confused. Where did we check in? The counter, the podium, the bar? The long line of fellow diners were equally perplexed, but eventually we figured it out and were escorted to our table. Our waiter was a young chap who was clearly new to the industry, but we cut him some slack, because we realized he needed it (and he was very sweet, and innocent...not his fault they didn't train him). As we sat down and began to converse and peruse the menu, two things became obvious; the restaurant's acoustics are terrible, and the food is overpriced. It was hard to hear the people at our own table. Think wedding with a band playing in the background, except there was no music, just a jam packed restaurant. Jam packed like sardines; tables seemingly on top of one another. Well, now that we were in it, we had to move on and choose our meals. Everyone chose a different entree ranging from a salad to lobster ravioli. The most expensive entrees were in the $30/$40 range, while the lesser priced ones ranged closer to $20. Everyone in our group thought the food was good, but some of it was hard to swallow, because of the price. I had the $36.00 cioppino (pasta w/ assorted seafood), and it was quite good, just not $36.00 good. We ordered the chocolate cake for dessert despite most of the table declining a bite..."I won't", "I can't", "I shouldn't". I did, and it was yummy. I have had many good experiences eating here but tonight we decided to order take out for the first time - that was apparently a mistake. We were in the area and needed to do some grocery shopping next door so ordered in person and came back to pick it up. Tried to order fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and since this was not exactly on the menu there were up-charges for the sauce as well as the shrimp. (this was not explained by the girl at the front desk) After a 15 minute drive home, hungry and ready to eat, we eagerly opened up the take out box only to find a $25 child-sized portion of pasta and 4 shrimp. We even had to remove the tails! Honestly we would have been okay with the price if it was justified by the portion size, which in this case was a sad excuse and probably half of what would have been given if we had dined there. Called the restaurant for an explanation of price and size/amount and was told it was indeed an $8 upcharge for 4 shrimp, $1.50 for the sauce and $15 for the linguine. Was told sorry and the phone call promptly ended. I would advise against ordering take out here and next time I'll just go to Olive Garden for a reasonable portion at half the price. read more

First, it was loud in the place. The acoustics were very bad and couldn't hear each other. The Marsala sauce was bland and tasted like out of a packet form Hannaford. Looked more like beef gravy. The steak was not cooked to perfection. The gnocchi was ok. The chicken ala vodka was pretty good, no complaints. The tortellini carbonara was also no complaints. The old fashion sink was not an old fashion. For one you don't muddle the black cherry. Asked for Knob Creek got Bullet instead. The expresso martini needed some work. Didn't have a splash of crème in it. The chocolate cake was told to be a sharing portion but when it came out it was a single portion. The manager was very attentive! Always coming to our table to see if it's ok. When the bill came, it automatically had a credit card usage charge! Really, what if you were paying cash. For a $520 bill, we should have gone to 677 Prime and had a real dinner! read more

Bellini's Italian Eatery is a very nice Italian restaurant located in the Price Chopper Plaza, next to those nice roundabouts. My folks took me here for my birthday dinner. The atmosphere is very nice here, the place is dimly lit. The bar area and takeout counter/open wood fired oven pizza kitchen are in the front. The main dining area has shiny wood tables with rows of table seating and booth seating, candlelight at each table. There's also outdoor sidewalk seating and a backroom too. We made reservations for a typical weeknight and were seated in a cozy booth in the upper tier, higher level than the rest of the dining area. We looked over the menu which looked very interesting. Our server (James) took our drink order 2 coffees and 1 Diet Coke ($2.75 each) and explained to us the 4 course "supper club" deal, with pasta dishes starting at $20, and classico dishes starting at $25. You get 1) mozzarella bread, 2) choice of soup or salad, 3) entree, and 4) choice of mini dessert (chocolate cake $3 extra). We opted for the "supper club" deal. Cavatelli ($20), Linguine ($20), and Pappardelle ($22). STARTERS: A standard hot loaf of bread with cheese, pesto, & olive oil dip was brought out first and was very good. Next the loaf of mozzarella bread with marinara sauce was like eating a French bread pizza, sort of reminded me of my favorite cheese breadsticks with sauce at Papa Gino's (a New England chain). We shared a Stack ($9.95): thinly sliced eggplant cutlets, roasted tomatoes, buffala mozzarella, layered nicely with sprinkled parsley, delicious! SALADS: My folks each had a Caserta: baby spinach, mixed greens, crispy pancetta, red onion, roma tomatoes, buffala mozzarella, and a citrus vinaigrette dressing, which had a fresh sweet taste. I had a Zeppa: baby iceberg wedge gorgonzola crumbles, crisp pancetta & tomato slice, a great start! ENTREES: The old guy (I'm using alias) had the Cavatelli (sweet sausage, spinach, chunky tomato, roasted peppers & garlic) which had a nice spicy kick with al dente pasta. Lil mama had the Linguine (PEI mussels, littleneck clams, garlic, herbs, & marinara over firm linguine) was excellent and had great flavors. A small bowl for the shells was provided. I had the Pappardelle (seared chicken, asparagus, artichocke, sundried tomatoes, wide noodles tossed in a garlic cream sauce) which was very tasty and rich. All of us ended up getting our food "doggy-bagged" since we filled up on bread and appetizers and needed to save room for dessert. DESSERTS: The old guy had a Cannoli (crispy shell filled with pistachio ricotta filling with chocolate chips on the outside) which was sweet and just right. Lil mama had a Mini White Chocolate Cheesecake (with with white chocolate shavings & raspberry sauce) was very good, homemade and not too sweet. I had the Chocolate Kahlua Mousse which was light and creamy tasting the chocolate flavors. SERVICE: The service was very professional throughout the entire meal. Our waiter (James) explained the menu very well and checked up on us often offering complementary refills on coffee, brought out a complementary fresh Diet Coke with lemon without asking, and delivered our food and clearing dishes in a timely manner. We were also offered fresh ground black pepper and sprinkled cheese on various food items. Overall, I had a fantastic birthday dinner with great food and service. The 4 course "supper club" was a great deal! My folks really enjoyed Bellini's as well and told me, excellent choice at picking a place for dinner. The Old Bellini's Slingerlands location was our 'go to' - when we had guests from out of town, birthday, anniversary, retirement celebrations - you name it, the best ever. However, the new location, Super disappointed - it's like a cafeteria. The charm of the old location was the intimacy and class. I can't comment on the food because unfortunately, we opted to leave and go somewhere else. Bring back the ambiance of what it was Bellini's, you'll do better. We went there for dinner on a Tuesday; we had a reservation and were seated promptly. We were immediately disappointed with the new facility. There was no place to put our hats and coats except on the back of our chairs and on our laps. One of the hallmarks of the previous iteration of the restaurant was, besides it's good food, the at times overbearing noise level because of all of the wood, tile and other sound-reflective surfaces. The new facility has at least as many reflective surfaces and looks like an attempt at an upscale school dining room. It also lacks the charm and inviting atmospherics of the previous iteration. The tables are plastic-topped, and wobbly even though the restaurant has been open only a few months. It made us wonder what took them so long to relocate and reopen. It is pretty much classless facility. Our server, Alicia, was prompt to greet us and friendly throughout. We ordered our drinks and our meal at the same time. The drinks came out between 5 and 10 minutes later. A full hour later our meals (2 pizzas) had not yet come out and it was only then that we saw our server who told us it would only be a few more moments. At that point we decided to leave, and again our server told us that the pizzas were on their way. We asked that they be boxed, and our bill brought to us. We were then offered an apology for the delay with the explanation that a new person was being trained on how to make pizzas and they were "a little slow." We have to question (1) why it took the restaurant a whole hour to let us know that they were training a new person; and (2) who was doing the training that did not realize that an inordinate amount of time had elapsed without delivering a meal that should take 10 to 15 minutes to prepare and bake. I simply cannot believe the half truths on this site. First of all: everything is made fresh, no artificial junk and NO MSG. The sauces are made from scratch. The filet is trimmed and cut by hand. Chicken cut, trimmed and pounded out. The lasagna portion is enough for 2 dinners AND a lunch. When my mom visits, she wants the filet from Bellini's. She will tell everyone it beats the Beverly Hills steakhouse she loves and it's better than anything she's had in the Midwest...you know...cow country? The salad dressings are made fresh and the desserts are the chef's creation and made from scratch. I'm not sure who Shirley is...but there's no way she was served a frozen, pre-made dessert. She must be having a bad year. Listen up Shirley, if you want RED SAUCE instead of a marinara with cream...ask for it. Your servers are not mind readers and they honestly will do just about anything to ensure their customers have a great meal. I've been going there for 15+ years and they still insist on QUALITY FOOD. Found this little gem of a restaurant while taking the mother to a doctor's appointment. It's located in the Price Copper plaza. Very easy to make a reservation. Food was delicious and really like their sauces. Love when leftovers serves the purpose of an another meal. The absolute favorite part of our experience was our waiter Anthony. Came for the gnocchi, stayed for the cake. If you're like me and are on a constant search for delicious gnocchi, Bellini's is a MUST. The gnocchi are soft and airy perfection and come topped with Bellini's marinara cream sauce which is the perfect balance of acidity, sweetness, and a hint of garlic. Gnocchi comes with meatballs (which I've heard are wonderful) but if you are a vegetarian like me, simply ask them to be removed and you will get EXTRA gnocchi to compensate! Before I move on to the cake it is worth to mention that the complementary bread and parmesan pesto oil are SO GOOD! While there are some great things on the appetizer menu, I usually opt to just dip and eat all the bread I can before my meal comes. Okay, cake! There is a REALLY good reason the Torta di Nocciola was voted Times Union's best dessert; it's SOOO GOOD! If you love chocolate, DO NOT leave Bellini's without eating a piece of this cake. It's rich chocolate cake layered with ganache and hazelnut mousse that is plenty big enough to share, but you probably won't want to. Located in another scenic strip mall down in Slingerlands at the intersection of 85 and New Scotland Road, Bellini's is casual with a touch of class (linen napkins, flowers, low light). There was a nice selection of reds ($25-$130/bottle), and fewer whites, but what we had we quite enjoyed.The Massimo Sauvignon Blanc (NZ, $8/glass) was grassy and crisp - perfect. The soup/salad combo meal ($9) is good value. Stitch enjoyed Florentine soup (chicken & mushrooms, spinach) - creamy, delightful, with tender greens and meat, followed by a house salad (cranberries, cuke and a cherry tomato with mesclun greens) - also delicious. I had the same salad with my meal, enjoying the sweet chewy dried berries against a generous topper of shaved parm. TBB asked for the Caserta Salad ($10.95). She said "wow, this is the best dressing I ever had", pumping the waitress for details. It's a simple mix of OJ and lemon juice and mustard, oil, S&P. Five stars!!! Of course, I ordered the Parmigiano (pan fried chicken cutlet, marinara cream sauce, lots of rigatoni/$12.95). The cutlet was fork tender with crispy edges, the cheese was gooey, and the pasta was perfect al dente. It was SO good, especially that sauce - smooth, clingy, rich, but not overwhelming. Wow, what a great find! We were just passing through on a small multi day road trip and pulled off the 87 to grab a quick bite. The place was elegant and modern yet we were comfortable dressed in casual attire. The servers were well groomed, professional and attentive. The food came very quickly and was delicious. The portion size was right on, we were full without feeling like our bellies were going to bust. Bellini's works as a sole location but could easily be franchised out to other upscale shopping malls. This is a fantastic place! My fiancée and I came here for lunch and their lunch combo of either 1/2 sandwich or pizza and soup/salad is amazing and such a great deal for $9. My fiancée got the margherita pizza and I got the turkey panini and they were both delicious. The pizza was incredibly flavorful and totally worth the $9 by itself. Ordered for Mothers day , was very disappointed . We order from there often . We have had some really good meals there and some just ok. Since the pandemic we get our meals there quite frequent. This Mothers Day I had ordered two meals on the menu the verdure tortellini. and sauce,and the pear cosmo, which was priced at $38 and $28 for the drinks. They told me to call when I got there but ask if I would come in to get it. My bill came to $116.oo included the tip, plus found out on my bank statement it was $116 plus another $20 For an extra meal . The women said I had ordered on the mothers day special .By then I was so confused and things were a little chaotic, In haste I signed the receipt and left. My wife was in shock to put it mildly . The calamari is excellent. Very light and airy, fresh made to order. The two sauces that you get the mustard sauce is awesome the marinara was bland and not good, it brought nothing to the dish. Cesar salad was good. The cheeseburger the roll all excellent. I have a hard time when a restaurant does not put out a good french fry?!?! Gosh what were those?! In the ten years that I have been going to Bellini's tonight was the first time I had a bad experience. The menu had changed entirely, the prices sky rocketed, the food was awful and the wait staff were very slow and non-attentive. I had ordered Chicken Marsala and it came out in a brown pot roast like gravy with one mushroom, the Calamari was flavorless and you got more veggies than squid. So I'm personally leaning towards three stars, but bumping to 4 to compensate for an unusually high percentage of crazy reviewers. I'm not sure why I feel like I have to bump up, but I'm doing it. As an Asian, I'm still trying to figure out every Asian restaurant gets 4+ ratings when frankly, their food is not good and Bellinis is riddled with unfair review. Do Italian places attract people who only post 1/2 star reviews? So I ordered the Cioppino and my daughter had the margarita pizza to go. $50.65 or $55 with tip. Surely someone will whine about pricing, but the restaurant business is really tough for a reason. I didn't try the pizza, but my daughter said the crust was nice and overall very satisfied. My Cioppino was fine. The major issue is that four of the mussels weren't open so I didn't eat any of the mussels. Someone complained they don't take the tails off the shrimp. Anyone who complains about tails not being removed from their shrimp should be banned from Yelp. If that's a deal breaker for you, just eat at home. I didn't drink beer since it was a to go order, but anyone who complains about the beer list should also stay home or learn to drink bourbon. But I digress. I admit the portion look modest, but like most pasta dishes, you quickly learn that there's more food that meets the eye. Oh. Anyone who think they'd rather eat at Applebee's than Bellini's should also be banned. What else can I complain about? Ahh. Service. What's the hurry? Relax. Enjoy the company of your friends and loved ones because you don't see restaurants complaining when you hog a table for hours when they really would like you to leave so that they can turn tables and try to pay their overpriced rent. Two young ladies at the register were nice. Thank you. Everyone else, tip more. Smile more. Be happy. People who love dropping their 1/2 star reviews, stay at home. A trip home to the Albany area would not be complete without at least one meal at or from Bellini's in Slingerlands. We have a group of 8 that gather and either order in or have used the private room for our gathering. The shorter hours at the restaurant make carrying home allowing us to spend more time together. Personally, I have never enjoyed a meatball more! Never a complaint about the meal. The staff is wonderful for eating in, attentive, efficient and the orders always correct to carry home! And leftovers are always enjoyed! Bravo read more
