We have been with this company for two years now. There has never been a problem until this last month. They have a horrendous problem with rodents. We were just at our storage last week and droppings were everywhere and $8000 plus of items were completely destroyed. I called and owner/manager was not helpful at all and did not feel any remorse of what took place. The only thing that he kept on repeating is that we did not take any insurance out with them, so there is nothing that they can do. These are enclosed, climate controlled units and this should have never been an issue. read more

We have been with U-Lock it for about 6 months and when we first found this place we were able to reserve a unit and come and view it. James is great! He is super nice and works with you to the best of his abilities. We are renting a climate control unit and it's great! We have plenty of room and everything is nice and clean. In the building there is a roller cart that is really convenient for move heavy boxes. I've called a few times to ask questions and such and both gentleman in the front are helpful, kind and knowledgeable. The whole place is secured with gates and personal codes to get in the gate and then an additional one for the door into the building. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I have stored my stuff here for months. I feel my things are safe and well protected here. Phil, a manager here, is friendly and knowledgeable about all things storage related. This facility is clean. I would not keep my things here if it were not. The central air and heat ensure my items are well cared for as there is little temperature fluctuation. Before I moved my stuff here I used their website's storage calculator, 1 of the better inventions. It was so easy & helpful to be able to decide which size room I needed using the storage room size calculator. I was also able to compare prices for surrounding storage centers. This U Lock-It had the lowest price for this room size with climate control, in the area. You need to supply your own lock, for safety & security. You supply your own boxes/plastic storage bins/suitcases or just pile your things in. In the office lobby they do sell locks, boxes & most things related to moving & storage for reasonable prices. Again this storage center is clean and well kept. I have a massive phobia of bugs so if I saw any signs of creepy crawlies I would have my things out of there. I feel safe going there by myself, although I have not been there alone at night when it gets dark early, I do not think anyone should be afraid to store their things here. Inside the lights are on automatic which saves electricity. The lights come on when you enter and move around. The outside is well lit at all times. I have used other storage places in the past. Non climate controlled places are only for things you would keep outdoors, in my experiences. I have lost books & household things in the non climate controlled storage places before. What an expensive & time consuming waste that was. This U Lock-It climate controlled storage is fantastic. I have many books, photos & valuable-to-me items here. I go in my unit at least once a month & I could not be happier. All my things are in excellent shape. U Lock-It makes it easy to pay. They take cash, checks and credit cards in person, by mail, on the phone and online. I appreciate this U Lock-It facility. The management makes it a pleasure to do business with. I highly recommend this particular storage facility. read more

This facility is new, clean, organized and secure, but better than that, customer service is exceptional! I've been a customer for more than a year, and I recently needed to switch units for personal reasons. My personal experience with U Lock It has been superior having used a number of other storage facilities in the past. I have seen some very unfavorable reviews about rats and mice. However, I know that they regularly take care of these issues staying on top of it. If there have been issues before, it is because the tenants did not read the contracts carefully to understand not to store certain things that would draw rodents. There are no storage units anywhere that can be 100% safe from mice, no matter how much care they take but this one does a much better job than most and it is the best one I've every experienced. read more

Zero stars. If you can avoid renting a unit here, I advise that you do it. If you do rent from ULockIt, make sure that you bring your own mousetraps because you will get mice. Boxes will be chewed into and there will be mouse pee and poop EVERYWHERE. This place has no regard for you or your belongings. Go to Check Plus Storage in Smithville and you won't regret it. Check Plus uses ABC Commercial Services exterminators and you won't be plagued by mice or ants there. The manager of Check Plus storage is a very decent man. Also, if you make the tragic mistake of renting from ULockIt, when you move out make sure you speak to the manager 15 days prior and let him know that you are moving out. We had paid April rent in March not knowing we would be out of the unit by April 1; however, we had managed to get our things out on April 1. When requesting a refund of April rent, the manager James refused, stating that I did not give notice. He kept a full months rent when it did not belong to him as my things were completely gone by April 1. Maybe that's "policy" but refunding my full month's rent would have been good will; however, as I stated above, this place has no regard for their customers. Don't rent storage here. read more
