Korean Style Hot Stone Pot Bibimbap: Got a big portion of food. All the ingredients were delicious. The beef was seasoned very well. The kimchi was good as well, but I wished there was some more variety of banchan. You first order at the counter, then find a place to sit. At the end of your meal, you bus your own plates.

Linda W.

Good portion size for the piece but overall quality was okay. You would come here less for the food but more that you get good value. You get one side dish of the kimchi and they use white rice for their bibimbop. Good balance of ingredients. It was slightly on the lighter side so I added some sauce for more flavor. Service was extremely fast, and there's enough seating for small groups. You bus your own table and get your own waters.

Gyoza

Been wanting to try this restaurant and I wasn't disappointed! We had their Korean fried chicken, Katsu Bento, and Gyoza! My favorite was their KFC. So flavorful and chewy! It cost $23 and it could be split for two people. Also had their katsu bento and it was good too. The California roll was alright. I enjoyed the gyoza too. A nice appetizer to get ready for the main course! The service was good! Employees were very nice and helpful. The food didn't take long to make at all! The pricing of the food is a bit more on the pricey side though The ambiance of the restaurant was good. There's a decent amount of seating and there's seating outdoors. We went on a sunny day and it was so nice to have a good meal with a great view of the weather.

Tofu Bento

The tofu bento was great! Very reasonable prices for the portion sizes. The woman at the counter was very sweet. There's indoor, covered porch, and indoor porch options for seating which is nice. Would go back!

Here we have one of many overlooked restaurants on the Ave in the U District solely because it feels like it's somewhat pushed into a corner in the wall by a parking lot that doesn't have cars in it. This place was much better than what I expected! I came here on a Saturday for lunch with a friend. Use the central plaza parking garage on weekends for parking, but failing that, look carefully around for street parking as it does get dicey there. You order up at the counter depending on what you want, and menus are placed near the front door and behind the cash register. They serve Asian fusion dishes here as advertised, including bibimbap, teriyaki, orange chicken and other things. Seating ranges from several tables close to the register to a smaller outside section lined with some tables around the perimeter of the kitchen. It was quite warm outside when I went, so most people ended up eating inside. My friend and I both ordered the hot stone pot bibimbap to try things out. It came with just kimchi as our banchan, which was less than what I would have liked. But with the addition of their sauce and mixing everything up, everything was quite tasty! Nothing overly special to add but I loved how it was filling and the beef was very well-seasoned while somehow having the strongest flavor in the whole dish (which I actually like a lot). I left here very satisfied, and would definitely come again to try their other dishes when I'm around the area!

This was a fantastic find on the Ave! Everything we ordered was wonderful. Beef bulgogi came out sizzling hot, tofu soup was unlike anything I've tasted, and the tempura shrimp was crunchy! I would happily order everything again. The portions were huge, I ate the bulgogi until I was full and still had a great portion left over for lunch. The man at the register was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was nice and clean. Nothing fancy - just good tasting food.

Katsu Bento ($17.99)

Cozy, casual Interior. Huge, tasty portions. There are Japanese, Korean, and Chinese items on the menu. Katsu Bento ($17.99) - Crispy katsu with rice, salad, gyoza pieces, and California roll. Bulgogi ($16.99) - Flavorful bulgogi on a bed of fluffy rice with salad on the side and a runny egg on top. Located in downtown U- District.

Curry Katsu Bowl and Spicy Chicken Teriyaki Bowl

Delicious food and huge portions ! This Katsu curry is non-spicy and comes with bell peppers, zucchini, and peas on top of the usual carrots and potatoes. The rice was on the stickier side (how I prefer it) and it came out piping hot. You can tell they make it to order bc the curry took a little longer than the teriyaki chicken but overall quick and easy service. There's free water by the register. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and the cool breeze was a good compliment to the hot food. Tables no bigger than 4 people so not great for big groups.

Really really great restaurant nuzzled into the u district ave. Very comfortable seats and great lighting, decor, and the owners and workers are always nice. Sometimes the tv in the main dining area has cringey 2000s music videos playing, sometimes it has lo fi beats of whatever holiday is coming up, you never know. I find that kind of funny every time we go. The outdoor seating is nice too for warm nights. I always get the hot stone bibimbap and it is very tasty. The most recent time I visited I felt as though it was a little heavy on the rice compared to the meat and veggies, but you can't really beat a filling meal for like $16. I love how crispy the rice gets in the hot stone, that's definitely my favorite part and hard to replicate at home. They don't try to usher you out of the restaurant as soon as you are done with your food which I really appreciate. I don't just go out to eat to eat, it's also a nice way to get out of the house and enjoy the company of your friends and loved ones. I feel like this place definitely encourages that. It has some faults to where I can't say it's perfect, but this is a great restaurant to go to with your friends. You need to pick and choose whether you want to leave having spent $15 or $30, as some menu items are pricey, but that's up to you, y'know?

Pork Bulgogi Bowl

The pork bulgogi bowl had tender and flavorful pork, it was a bit spicy but still delicious and enjoyable. The rice was cooked perfectly and was a good portion size overall. Service was quick and the food didn't take long to come out.

Add to the bucket list! Dubpop is insane!!! Hefty prices but hefty portions to go with it. Food is top quality and made to order, always fresh and piping hot from the kitchen. Extremely friendly staff and quick service. Go to study break munch down because you'll always have leftovers for later. The ambiance is off the charts with a great playlist always surging through the speakers with music videos to accompany!!

Great food, good location, nice fast service. Teryaki especially good. The japanese curry with katsu chicken was a pleasant surprise.

A tiny place with big portion and authentic food…read more We came here on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was almost fully packed. I had my all time favorite dish at a Hong Kong café cuisine, gon caau ngau ho (乾炒牛河), aka beef chow fun, along with a childhood favorite drink, iced Horlicks. I liked how everything moved at a quick pace here and yet the staff were still friendly. The best part was that no one stopped by to ask how the food was while your mouth was full, because they already knew the food was good. The beef chow fun was just as good as the ones back home. It was savory and full of wok hei (iykyk). The bean sprouts were added at just the right time, so they were still a slightly crunchy. The sliced beef was tender too. If you like adding extra spice, be sure to try the crunchy chili sauce on the table. It was awesome, fragrant, spicy, and full of flavor. Just be careful not to choke on it, I did, and it wasn't fun. I hadn't had Horlicks in twenty years, and the first sip brought back so many memories. Be sure to stir it well and maybe wait until the ice melts a little, otherwise it may be slightly too sweet. My partner is a vegetarian. He looked through the entire menu and said there weren't many things he could order (listen, people, choose your future SO accordingly if you like sharing big meat dishes). He ended up ordering the curry vegetable rice and added a fried egg. He said the curry was delicious. I tried a bite of it and agreed. I think there may have some coconut milk in it because it was rich and creamy. The rice was a little too dry to my liking. Sitting there and listening to the background music from the Hong Kong TV news, I felt like a kid again.

Quick service, free hot tea in plastic cups (a classic), and chili oil at the table. Ask for white pepper btw! Depending on your taste, I like adding white pepper to my fried rice, chow fun, and soup. Wonton soup: the wontons are huge and filled with pork and shrimp. The soup however was kind of sour? Not sure what they added in, but the flavor of the broth was not my favorite. There's so much good wonton soup in the area! I wish this broth was better and more savory. Beef chow fun: pretty tasty and the beef was pretty tender. There was no work hei, so didn't have that distinct flavor Half chicken bone in: this was surprisingly our favorite dish! Steamed chicken with a ginger oil. The ginger made this dish and the chicken was very tender. The chicken comes cold so eat it with some rice and it's the perfect combo

The Chow Mein had a wonderful Wok Hei flavor and the chicken was juicy and tender. It was our favorite of the dishes. The Mixed Basket Xiao Long Bao was super fun to be able to try them all and pick your favorites. Mine was the wagyu beef, the original pork and the truffle. I was kind of sad that they didn't include soy vinegar and chili oil. I feel that those things enhance the Xiao Long Bao. The Lychee Sweet & Sour Pork Tenderloin I was most excited about. Unfortunately, it was the worst dish. The flavor was great. I love that it had lychee in it, but the breading was mush, and the pork was so hard and overcooked. It was inedible. Because of that dish and not including the condiments is my three star review.

The wontons were good, but the chili sauce was the star. It was numbing and a little minty feeling. It was really great over the fried rice, which didn't stand out to me but was good to pair the dishes with. The crab and pork soup dumplings were sooo tasty, I would definitely get them again. The prawns we got were also great, I really enjoyed the crunchy coating and extras that came with it. I really enjoyed the space and food, I will definitely be coming back!

It took a long time for the food to come out, and when our entrees finally arrived, we weren't given rice. We had to go ask for it so we didn't end up eating everything else first. It felt like they might be understaffed, which didn't help the overall experience. The appetizer platter was a bit disappointing. The honey walnut shrimp didn't really land for our table -- though I will say the crispy coating was interesting and I appreciated that they used actual walnuts. The entrees were better. The chow mein was my favorite -- great smoky wok flavor, well seasoned, and just really satisfying. The seafood clay pot was also solid, with shrimp, fish, and tofu. The beef broccoli was nicely cooked too, especially the broccoli with garlic. Overall, there are some good dishes here, but with how slow the service was, I'm not sure I'd pick this spot again.

I had been meaning to check Tai Tung out, and having a group is a great opportunity to try a variety of dishes family style. We ordered the fried chicken wings, half peking duck, beef chow fun, beef in oyster sauce (Bruce Lee's favorite), crab fried rice, and noodles with tofu (one girl had to be healthy!) The food was solid and nostalgic. It reminded me of the kind of Chinese food I would get in the 80s and 90s when we went out for Chinese food in New Jersey. We stayed, talking, until the restaurant closed. As my friends packed up and said their goodbyes, the staff noticed me looking around at the different tables. I wanted to find Bruce Lee's favorite table, which I had seen on online reviews of Tai Tung. The staff member very proudly brought us all into the next room, turned on the lights, showed us the photos on the wall, and told us about the history. We got a history and culture lesson with our meal. Best of all, our friends all congratulated me on the "great find!" of a restaurant, and isn't that the kind of validation every Yelper wants?
