Having never been to the original location, my friend and I came here to check it out for a lunch break on macaron day and Two Hands didn't not disappoint. Situated in Tribeca, Two Hands is a wonderfully decorated space. There is a lot of thought put into the decor from the clean white tables to the sparkling bar to the flowers that adorn each table top (perfect for Instagramming!). Even the bathrooms had something cool going on with them with neon signs designed for ladies and gentleman, color-coded to boot. The beef burger with beets, pickled cucumber, and fried egg was excellent. It was executed to perfection in my opinion and if I were solely rating by itself, then Two Hands would get five stars. Wasn't a big fan of the tangy homemade ketchup that came with the potatoes. The potatoes which weren't fries were good but I would have preferred fries over it. Service was a mixed bag. We had two servers and one thought we ordered a hot chocolate. Wrong table. Then, the same server gave us the wrong check. The other one was really nice though. Two Hands is trendy as it gets and I'll only expect it'll get busier as more and more people know about it so hopefully the service doesn't suffer. Between a 3 star and 4 star on this one. Two Hands is a cute little, always-packed, open air restaurant in Tribeca. During brunch hours, the place is packed to the gills with people. I stopped by a few weeks ago to see if they would prepare me something to-go -- no dice. This weekend, I went back with my best friend to check it out. There was a 20 minute wait. We were seated promptly at the 20 minute mark. The restaurant itself is bright and open. We were greeted right away and the service was fantastic the whole time. The tables are quite close together so things get loud. We ordered coffees and entrees. She ordered an iced coffee and the brassicas bowl, and I ordered a cappuccino and the smashed avocado toast with a side of roasted tomatoes. I wanted to order the beet cured salmon bowl which I was told I could not order without the fennel yogurt (?). That seemed weird to me; still don't understand why they couldn't just give me the dish without it. The coffees were both good, although they don't have skim milk. The entrees were also good. My friend really enjoyed her brassicas bowl. The smashed avocado toast had a bit of a kick to it and was on a sizable piece of toast. The dish was filling and surprisingly had a lot of flavor to it. What annoyed me to no end, though, was that a SIDE OF ROASTED TOMATO was $3.... and they give you a HALF of a tomato. You are telling me that 1 full tomato is $6? Really? The little tiny piece of tomato was like three bites worth. Tomatoes are literally $3-4 per POUND, and you're telling me a HALF of a roasted tomato is $3? The tiny poached egg I added was also $3... sort of absurd. The cook on it was perfect at least. The entire bill came to ~$44 which seemed reasonable, since we were both full and felt like we ate reasonably healthy meals. We would definitely consider coming back, although I find some of their pricing to be irritating. Was very interested in trying this Australian inspired coffee cafe (slightly biased about coffee since my many visits to Melbourne and Sydney AU where the Flat White rules). I was not disappointed by the two flat whites we ordered - one with whole milk and one with oat. It's very difficult to find an authentic flat white - yes it is totally different than a latte - they were beautifully crafted and the coffee-milk balance was perfect-not too foamy either. The breakfast choices, although flavorful and very fresh - did not compare to the other little Australian cafe I visited earlier this year in midtown. The entrees were also a bit more pricey. The bacon was to die for!! The staff was very pleasant and it was entertaining sitting at the bar and watching the cooking process. Two Hands has a hipster feel to it, even though I'm pretty sure it was an Australian cafe. Our party of 12 came in on one Monday afternoon for a work outing, without a reservation (though I don't think they accept them here if it isn't for dinner). They were not able to accommodate such a large group at one table, so they ended up seating us in two separate areas. So much for a team event. All of the dishes on the menu sounded pretty good. They all consisted of fresh-sounding ingredients. However, they also didn't sound very filling. Because of this, I decided to go with the Two Hands Beef Burger (with cheese, fried egg, pickled cucumber, beet relish - side of crispy potatoes and house-made ketchup on seeded bun). This definitely filled me up and then some. We ate at around 1 and I wasn't even hungry by the time dinnertime rolled around. I must have missed the part where it said the burger came with beet in it because I was very surprised when it showed up. It made me think back to the first and only other time I had a burger with beets in it, which was at a McDonald's at the Sydney Airport. I remember thinking it was the weirdest thing ever, that the two didn't even go together. But now that I've tried it again, I think I'm starting to take a liking to beets and beets in burgers. My only warning to you is that the burger is extremely messy to eat. Between the fried egg and the beet relish, it's hard to even take a bite with everything in it, let alone keep all of the ingredients in the bun. The smashed potatoes were great but a tad too greasy. I forgave this though because I just love tiny potatoes for some odd reason. The house-made ketchup was not for me. It had cinnamon (?) or some other kind of spice, which gave it this strange taste. I would have preferred Heinz. This just proves that sometimes, it's best to K.I.S.S. I wouldn't mind coming back and trying some of their avocado toast as a light brunch. My fav is avo toast, which really stands out because of the generous serving of avo, the yummy seasoning and the warm thick bread. Zoe's bowl is full of healthy fulfilling vegetables and is large in portion. Brassica bowl also tastes good with avo, hummus and Brussels sprout, but the portion is a tad too small, so by itself it is not enough as a lunch. All in all, this place is one of my fav Aussie cafes in the city, and I will definitely come back. The hummus was very creamy, and the dish was perfectly seasoned. Not really a combination you can find at many restaurants, either, especially not for brunch. - Avocado toast was seasoned very well and the sourdough was fresh. they give you a lot of avocado, too. I didn't like the pickled Fresno, but my mom didn't mind it. Outstanding. - Sweet potatoes were good but not memorable. Could have been a bit crispier. - The turmeric chai latte with almond milk was delicious. Very smooth, one of the best I've had. Obviously this place is not cheap, but the ingredients are very fresh, and the dishes are unique. For the quality, it's not unreasonable. Interior is cute, intimate, and casual. Just came here for Saturday brunch with a friend. Maybe it was the rain, but we only had a 10-15 min wait when we got there around 11AM. The restaurant is small - but it's bright and cozy. It is a bit too crowded though. The tables are a little too close together but hey it's NYC. I love, love, love their palm beach fizz. Light, refreshing, and citrus = my perfect brunch cocktail. Coffee was great as well but they don't provide free refills. The mushroom toast was actually not my favorite. It was a little too salty for me and the sauce was overwhelming. I went to the Mott St location a while back and loved it so I wanted to try this one out. I really wanted to give this more than 3 stars but it just wasn't. My boyfriend had the market plate and loved it however I wasn't as lucky. My BLAT had almost no avocado on it, the smallest little spread which was disappointing as I was compelled to order this after seeing a neighbouring guest eating the same with LOTS of avocado. The granola was good but the serving of yoghurt was extremely small so you could barely eat any of the granola. Due to lack of yogurt it seems they served with whole milk on the side even though this wasn't on the menu. Amount of berries was much less than last time I visited. Hostess had a sassy attitude and seemed to be giving preferential treatment to some people over others (a lot of people were really annoyed) however we didn't experience any wait as a table for two. read more

If I could give this place 3.5 stars I would. The service was good but also feel as though it is slightly overpriced for what you're getting. I really loved the decor and ambiance. The gluten free banana loaf is delicious. I've gotten it twice. Heads up it is usually served cold ... so if you're looking for a warm banana bread don't order this. It does tend to be a little dry in my opinion but I don't mind so much. The pancakes are also very good but again you're definitely paying for them. This is a really cute cafe and the food is delicious and very well presented. I had a salad type bowl with kale, sweet potatoes, avocado, smoked salmon, poached eggs.... and a side of the banana and walnut loaf with espresso mascarpone spread on top! The banana bread is a must try - so good! My husband had the burger, which he did enjoy however mentioned it wasn't the best burger he has ever had. I feel like that's still a compliment though! We didn't try the cocktails, but enjoyed our cappuccinos. We visited on Memorial Day and they got us a table relatively quickly but service was pretty slow. They don't take reservations and it is a popular place, so I wouldn't advise going here while stuck for time. It's more of a Sunday stroll spot when you have time to spend waiting on a table etc. I would recommend this place and will revisit I'm sure. I'm not sure if it was pickled shallots or the chili on it, but it looked like red pepper that was on it, I didn't care for and more or less picked it off. I do usually like chili pepper flakes on avocado toast however. We did order it with a poached egg however on arrival the egg was not poached, it was completely boiled through which is the reason I'm only giving a 4 star. I want to love this place because the food is fresh and the beverages are great but it's drastically overpriced (EVEN by Tribeca standards) and the service is horrendous. I've been twice now and both times waitstaff was rude and acted annoyed at the smallest requests for things like more water and a side of hot sauce. It took almost an hour to get our food (a salad and egg toast) and the restaurant wasn't full. I've been twice now and the experience was the same both times. I've been to Two Hands Cafe on Mott Street last year and I finally was able to try Two Hands Restaurant & Bar a few months ago with a friend. We've both been wanting to check this place out. We came on a Friday afternoon and boy was it crowded! We ended up sitting at the bar which was fine which was just the two of us. This location is slightly bigger than the Mott Street location, but I think the Mott Street location has nicer decor and it feels more comfortable. We both ordered a drink and a toast. My friend had a Mimosa (nothing too special in my opinion). I had their Matcha Latte (that's what I tried at the Mott Street location) and it was alright. I was hoping for more of a matcha and bitter taste to it, but I wasn't getting any bitterness at all. For entree, my friend had the Smashed Avocado on a sourdough with pickled shallots, cilantro, pepitas, sesame, chili and lime with a poached egg (+ $3.00). He also added bacon which cost extra, but forgot how much. The bacon was very thick. His toast looked very fresh, vibrant and absolutely filling! I think I may try it next time I come here. I decided on the Mushroom toast which was on a sourdough with white bean puree and arugula pepita pesto with a poached egg (+ $3.00). I was excited to eat my mushroom toast because of the different elements. The sourdough was a little tough to cut through and it took a lot of effort just to cut it. The mushroom toast was everything I had hoped for it to be. It was buttery, delicious, flavorful, and amazing except for the tough sourdough. Overall, it was a pleasant experience at Two Hands and I am interested in trying other menu items from here. The food felt and looked very fresh and natural. The hostess greeted us warmly, and told us it'd be around a 10-15 minute wait. The wait ended up being around the time she said, and we were seated with menus promptly. The matcha latte was kind of tasteless and bland, though the milk was steamed well. Our food was also subpar. Both the brassicas bowl and the cauliflower couscous were aesthetically pleasing, but the taste did not match up to the presentation. Both dishes could have used some flavorsome additions. Came in for brunch Saturday afternoon. It can get busy here, and the wait for a table can be lengthy. If seats at the bar open up, I highly recommend you take advantage. It's actually pretty spacious at the bar and more comfortable than the cramped tables on a busy weekend afternoon. Avocado toast - Not your basic bitch avocado toast. The pickled onions and chilis do a lot to elevate it. My one gripe is that the poached egg was way overdone. Too bad because this coulda been something special with some runny yolk. Brassicas bowl - Nice light option. Essentially a salad with egg, avocado, and a smear of hummus. Good option if you plan on getting the hotcakes afterwards. Which you should. Ricotta hot cakes - Awesome. The ricotta makes it a pretty heavy dish, but the berry compote does a good job of cutting through it. Before I start, if you eat here do not order the Bloody Mary. They dump in a ton of cumin and add no horseradish or anything bright to the drink. It tastes like a cup of chili! With the soggiest olives I've ever had. We sat outside and it was fine for a while, but then this lady sat next to us with a dog that SCREACHED at any dogs that came by. We kept moving the table to avoid the sun, but it took an hour and a half to receive our food, so the sun was behind a building by the time we could eat. I've heard jokes about $14 avocado toast but didn't believe they were true. A lady at our table ordered it and while it was good... it was a single piece of extremely hard bread with avocado spread on it. In what world is that worth $14? I ordered the Market Bowl with beef. It was a decent portion of food but it was so extremely bland that I had to add hot sauce to it. I will say the sweet potatoes are really delicious. That was $23. The 4 of us spent a total of $150 for an hour and a half wait. Bland over priced food. At a hot table. Don't waste your time with this place. It was our waitress's second day there and she was excellent, but she left and I had to walk in for someone to finally take my money for us to leave. read more

Smashed Avocado and Mimosas...... Service was okay.

I've learned my lesson with the so-called trendy places: beautiful and appetizing as the food looks to the eye, I still want something that will actually make my stomach and tastebuds sing. I had wanted to try Two Hands' original Mott location for brunch (given that it's the birthplace of the Avocado Toast) but didn't want to brave the Instagram trigger-happy crowds. When I found out that Two Hands opened up a second location AND took dinner reservations, I dragged my friend over. Maybe the brunch food is that much better? Everything just fell a bit flat. The zucchini fries became limp and soggy two minutes in. Listen, I love a deep fry as much as the next red-blooded American. But please do NOT try to make the zucchini the next potato. It just doesn't hold up as well, especially when you spiralize it and then dump it into the oil. I was still hungry after eating my roasted beets and began picking at the dregs of the zucchini fries, only to realize how much oil was sticking to my fingers. Ah, the roasted beets plate. My love for beets is new but heartfelt - I can eat a bowl of beets every day (and think of Dwight Shrute as I do so). I liked Two Hands' version but the plate could have used something extra to balance out all the vegetal matter, like hunks of goat cheese. I did like the bits of pistachio or hazelnut scattered throughout but bigger hunks of nut would have been appreciated instead of the dainty sprinkling. Towards the end of our meal, the restaurant got insanely loud. Not sure if everyone decided to raise their voices en masse - as a relatively quiet person, I wanted out. Bumping it up to one star only because our waitress was super friendly and handled the Tribeca clientele with aplomb. Maybe I'll come back to sample the famous brunch. TLDR; reservation was not honored, had zero wait service, food and drinks were mediocre and not worth the price, [not held against in this rating, but we were sat at a table with a leaky ceiling] Amidst the covid pandemic, a member of my party of 4 did not feel comfortable eating indoors so I emailed the address listed on the website to ask for a table outdoors, which I was promised I would have for Sunday 1:30 brunch. However when my entire party arrived at 1:27, we were told at 1:40 that we would have to wait until a table opened up outside, making it useless to have even make a res in the first place. [not held against in this rating] Upon hearing this, the hostess gave us two other options of indoor seating, 1) to sit at a table with a leak in the ceiling, or 2) sit at the bar top. Since we were on a double date with 2 of us meeting for the first time, we took the table so we can face each other and talk. My entire party has worked in the service industry so we were very understanding that these things happen and made it clear that we were ok with this, and I appreciate the hostess letting us know and giving us options despite our res not being honored. While we were eating, a male staff member (presumably a manager) checked on us about the leak and nicely offered to move us to another table when available, however that interaction was pointless since we were not offered another table when more opened up and this was really the only interaction we had with any staff while seated which leads to... This is where the stars get knocked off for (lack of) service and food quality (granted it was busy weekend brunch, but we didn't even know they had wait service until we saw other tables and wouldn't be able to tell who was assigned to our table upon writing this) When we were seated, we were not greeted or given a menu- we saw another table with a QR code menu on their table so we took it upon ourselves to visit their website at 2:00 since we still had yet to have a waitress). Come 2:15, we still were not waited on so we flagged down a waitress to order and had to flag again to receive the check. I don't expect staff to wipe my mouth or hold my fork to feed me, but not once were we checked on and we are low maintenance so we didn't have to ask for extra napkins or refills, but a "hi, how are you" or even a "how are we doing over here" would've made all the difference and would've spared this review. Not to mention that we only had to flag down a staff member once to order food and only another to get the check, and the waitresses seemed less than thrilled each time. To best describe the lack of service, the carafe on the table that was used to catch the leak was changed twice in the 10 minutes we waited for a table, each when the carafe was filled with less than half an inch of ceiling water. In the 1.5 hours we were seated, the carafe was also changed twice each when the carafe was ~3/4 filled both times. Food arrived at 2:30 and mostly tasted great but were small portions. In attached photo starting at the top going clockwise, we ordered a chicken bowl, lemon poppyseed waffle, panna cotta, and açaí bowl. 2 of us ordered iced coffee that was watered down, 1 of us ordered a grapefruit mimosa which was amazing and a delicious but small banana smoothie. Maybe the staff was worried that we would complain about our worthless reservation or the leaky ceiling, maybe they had us confused with someone bad like a middle school bully or an ex's partner, but the lack of service was inexcusable given the attention other tables received. The one star in this rating is for the leaky ceiling transparency and to the chefs. read more

My favorite spot in the city for a delicious but healthy meal. I'm actually shocked there aren't more 5 star reviews, because I've always loved everything I've eaten here. Sure, it gets busy on the weekend, but what good brunch spot in NYC doesn't have an hour plus wait (you actually know the place is half decent if it does!). Food is always fresh, and you always feel great after eating it. The chili scramble, pulled chicken bowl and banana bread are my favorites. They keep me coming back! read more

The banana bread. Hands down, the best I've had (and you know in quarantine times how much banana bread has been baked and eaten..) The texture is great and the taste of espresso takes it to the next level. I also got the chai, which was solid with almond milk. The outdoor setup is great too for the nicer weather! read more

My daughter LOVED her chicken and potatoes and what an amazing price $6.00!!!! The potatoes were so crispy and flavorful I wanted to order a side of potatoes but had to restraint myself after getting their Brassicas Bowl, a healthy green bowl with hummus and egg which was yummy and filling. Perfect size. My cold brew coffee was smooth and my experience was fantastic even after having a customer spill almond milk over my legs. The staff was super friendly and bubbly. You feel really comfortable asking them questions and they are very honest in their response. Australians seem to be beating everyone else on amazing customer service. I get excited when I hear a new Australian cafe opened up. I know I'll walk in and feel like light without having to deal with grumpy waitstaff. I highly recommend this place for a great experience and fantastic food. read more

We got seated right away but ended up waiting for someone to greet us for over 15 minutes. We watched as other walk-ins got sat and ordered their coffee. We waited patiently and still no one came over to us. I made eye contact with several servers. We were the only POC in the room and something just felt off. We ended up getting up and leaving around 20 minutes. Super disappointed in the service and how they conduct their business. We didn't let the experience deter us and ended up at a coffee shop around the corner and had a great breakfast. read more

Had a mixed experience here with my BF. Our drinks were awesome (I forgot the name but mine had pineapple juice and rum) and the fried zucchini chips were phenomenal, but the cauliflower and salmon dishes fell flat. Finally, we really disliked the dressing on the salad - it was super acidic and bitter and kind of ruined it for us, and I'm a big salad eater. Service was also pretty bad - we had to wait ages between each interaction. 3.5 stars; I would recommend it for drinks and apps. read more
