I haven't been to many Australian-focused restaurants in my life (unless Outback counts? Lol), but if Two Hands is a reflection of what the cuisine is like, I am 100% behind it! I heard a lot of good things about this restaurant and decided to make a reservation for brunch on the weekend. It was busy as expected, but we were seated quickly. Loved the interior design, wooden tables with white brick walls and greenery throughout. Definitely a "home grown" vibe which is what they tout on their website. The menu is an eclectic mix of proteins and veggies and is bound to have something for everyone. Clean, simple ingredients without too much embellishment. I've tried pretty much everything over my last three visits and these are my favorites: Banana Walnut Bread - This is easily the most delicious and notable item on the menu in my opinion and it's not even a main dish. While the banana bread itself is moist and decadent, it's the espresso mascarpone and honey drizzle that absolutely take this one over the top. I could probably eat two or three of these - even though it's a decent sized portion. You MUST get this if you come here! Tomato Toast - Classic example of simple and high quality ingredients speaking for themselves. A super thick slice of toasted sourdough with cheesy spread is topped with a runny poached egg, tomato relish and prosciutto. Totally balanced and totally scrumptious. The presentation is impeccable too Steak & Egg - Standard steak and eggs, but the real star of the dish is their uber crispy hash and tangy anchovy dressing. The greens go well and it's not too heavy, but definitely filling Lemon Poppyseed Waffle - This is exactly as it sounds. Imagine a lemon poppyseed muffin pressed into waffle form with a sweet mascarpone cream, strawberries and syrup. I thought it was pretty good (and I love lemon poppyseed), but for me, it didn't beat the Banana Walnut Bread Salmon Quinoa Bowl - Colorful! One of the pricier options on the menu ($25), but comes with very fresh ingredients, lots of veggies and solid flavors. I love that you can add a wide range of sides or extras to your meal ranging from just an egg or hash brown to whole salmon filets or steaks (5 oz), depending on how hungry you are Two Hands gets full marks on taste and execution from me. BTW the service was so nice, I almost forgot to mention, the only reason I even tried the Banana Walnut Bread my first time there was because I saw another table getting it and asked my server about it. The one-star review (and I wish I could give zero stars) is not about the quality of the food but about the waitress/host, whose actions made no sense. My wife and I walked in when there was no line, and several tables were clearly available. However, we were told there would be a 30-40 minute wait. When I asked about the empty tables, she claimed they were reserved. About ten minutes later, three women walked in, got impatient, and were about to leave. The waitress chased after them and seated them immediately. My wife approached her and pointed out that we had been waiting for ten minutes and arrived before those ladies. The waitress responded that the tables were meant for groups of three. Yet, I noticed one of those tables remained empty after seating the ladies, and another two empty tables had been pushed together for a group of four. Let me emphasize--there was no line. We were the only ones there, and the waitress still decided to make us wait for 30 minutes. What would have happened if no one else came in to fill those "reserved" tables? It would've wasted our time. Since it was raining and miserable outside, we decided not to let her poor judgment waste any more of our time and took our business elsewhere. Maybe it's no big deal to the waitress that we walked out, but if enough customers leave (at $20-$30 per person), it'll eventually hurt the owner.
