Food & service were amazing. The caesar salad is a must get it was our favorite. Steak frites was smaller than we expected with honestly more salad/fries than steak on the plate. Charred broccoli was okay - liked the couscous and steak more. My husband on the other hand for his birthday dinner got a slice of cake from the restaurant - it had a sparkler on it that BURNED a hole straight through his pants! So definitely ask for no sparklers if you have any clothes you don't want ruined!!

July 2026: FANTASTIC! I was pleasantly surprised that we got a reservation on the date needed; it's a busy place. Samantha our server was pleasant and described the specials. I had an Old Fashioned that was perfectly prepared but in a smaller portion than expected for the size cocktail I think it should be, but it was good. Caesar salad was huge and enough to share, I had to ask twice for anchovy for the genuine Caesar so a ding for that. Ribeye was perfectly prepared and juicy for its medium hot pink center. Loved it. Manager swung by and that was a nice touch. Bread server was a good kid and made an effort in his role which is always good to see. Will definitely return for a special occasion. Kudos for a great meal and experience.

I came to enjoy the happy hour specials. The full HH menu is $5 which is a STEAL!! Parking is scarce but they have FREE VALET so just pull up and drop off your keys or take a rideshare. The outdoor dining area is large! They can easily hold 50-60 people on the patio. After entry, I seated myself at the bar. The bar service was prompt and the bartenders were attentive. They cleared plates, placed orders and made drinks! I ordered everything on the menu except cheese curds. The steak bites were well seasoned and tender, onion rings were plain but the dipping sauce is a winner, my favorite were the brisket toasted ravioli, prime rib sliders were on a soft hawaiian roll and came with a horseradish dip, the crab rangoon were ok...The dipping sauces were extremely sweet. The manhattan was made well! Strong with a hint of sweetness from the cherry. Lovely. This was an excellent experience! A great happy hour to get a bang for your buck.

Plenty of parking on dedicated lot next to Holiday Inn. It does get crowded. Valet available. Get a reservation. Restaurant was crowded on a Tuesday evening. Seated around reservation time. Service was good. Waiter was quite talkative. Lobster bites. 8/10. Crispy. Not oily. Not over battered. It was a nice start. The warm butter was a nice touch. Salad. 9/10. As good as they say. You can get more and the sides were a great touch. You can dress it as you like. Filet. 8/10. Cooked well. Lots of flavor, juicy. One of the better filets I've had. Baked potato. 7/10. Huge and lots of sour cream and butter on the side. It was good and cooked well. Nothing exceptional. Chocolate gooey cake and ice cream. 4/10. It was very rich and liquidity. Ice cream was good. Overall a great meal and will be back.

Wow! This was our first time and it was amazing. Our server Julia was kind, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The chimichurri on the steak kabobs was probably the best I've ever had. The cocktails were delicious I had the hibiscus mango margarita and an espresso martini - both were amazing. The restaurant was warm, upscale, and well-appointed. I can't wait to come back.

From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed meal. The smash burger was cooked to perfection with crispy edges, a juicy center, and amazing flavor. The onion rings were golden, crispy, and delicious, and the margaritas were fresh, smooth, and the perfect finishing touch. Great food, great drinks, and a great atmosphere made this an all-around fantastic dining experience. I can't wait to come back and visit the friendly bartenders who ensured I enjoyed my food and time.

What a Great lunch day for a day off of work!!!! The lunch menu is great!!! We didn't want Steak (I know weird) so we went for the Special Double Smashburger with Bacon Jam.... Delicious.. and the Twisted Tree Chicken Sandwich.. yummy!! Plus the Best Onion Rings around!!! We tried the Brisket Ravioli on several recommendations.... We had to send the first order back due to them being cold (in the middle of). The next order wasn't any better.... So we opted for the Tenderloin Skewers!!! So good!!!! We noticed the Happy Hour they have Tuesday-Friday in the Bar!! Gonna check that out soon!!! Always a great atmosphere!!! Always Busy so make a reservation... even for Lunch!!! Our Server was on her first day on her own and did Awesome!!!

We visited Twisted Tree on a Wednesday evening, arriving early (around 5:30 PM). While we were seated immediately, the dining room was completely full by 6:30 PM. Even with a full house, being seated in the middle of the large dining area kept the volume manageable and the experience relaxed. The Standouts * The House Salad (4.5/5): My wife and I agree--this is easily one of the best house salads in St. Louis. The ingredients are incredibly fresh, the dressings are clearly homemade, and those croutons are legendary. If you come here and don't order the salad, you're doing it wrong. * Barrel-Aged Manhattan (4.25/5): This was excellent and very well executed. I was actually surprised to find they used Four Roses as the base. While Four Roses is a solid, standard bourbon, it doesn't typically have the aggressive flavor notes of a high-proof or spicy rye. However, those complex flavors were definitely present here, likely a testament to the quality of their house barrel-finishing process. The Entrées: A Mixed Bag Service was friendly and prompt, and our server was great at navigating our menu questions. However, we found the seafood lacked the same "wow" factor as the starters. * Halibut Special (3.5/5): This was served over a black garlic risotto with asparagus. The risotto was the highlight--rich and perfectly executed--and provided a better flavor profile than the other fish dish. * Sea Bass (3/5): While the portion was generous and the fish was fresh, it was crying out for a sauce or more aggressive seasoning. The accompanying kale and squash were unfortunately undercooked and lacked flavor. Experimental Dessert * Red Velvet Cake Bread Pudding (3/5): We are always up for trying something new, but this didn't quite land for us. It was served cold, which might have been a deliberate chef's choice since Red Velvet is often a cold cake, but it felt "off" for a bread pudding. The chocolate sauce and strawberries were tasty, but the overall mixture was just too rich and thick to really enjoy. The Verdict Twisted Tree clearly knows its way around a salad and a cocktail, but the seafood and experimental desserts were a bit of a miss this time. In hindsight, I spent the whole night looking at the chalkboard featuring their dry-aged beef options and eyeing the pork chop on the menu. We'll definitely be back, but next time, we're sticking to the steaks and the classics.

Absolutely enjoy this place end up doing the complementary valet. It was nicely packed, which is to be expected when you have dry aged steaks so it end up being two seats at the bar so we went to the bar. The ambience was low lit romantic style setting. Kelly was our server at the bar. I started with a Moscato then a French 75 followed by an old-fashioned or should I say new fashion made with tequila! (Definitely enough alcohol) Loved how they (girlies) were dressed all black sleek looks. The young guy that brought the steak out on a hot pan was awesome! I really enjoyed myself The steak literally melted it tasted like butter. I get my steak medium rare, the chipotle sweet potatoes were definitely more on the spicy side I love spicy food tho so needless to say I loved them. It also came with a Caesar salad salad that was enough to feed at least two or three people! I will definitely be returning very nice experience

This is the delightful lobster bisque. Absolutely, delicious.

I just dinned here for my mother in law's birthday and I was blown away to say the least. The food was more than exemplary, especially the lobster bisque, the steak and the ahi tuna. The service was top notch and our server, (I wish I could remember his name), was fantastic and really made us all feel like we dinning amongst royalty. The ambiance was great with intimate lighting, great music at just the right level and the decor was nice as well. Although a bit pricy, I would love a chance to eat here again as once you taste the food, you'll know instantly, that it's worth every penny your spending. If I could give the Twisted Tree 10 stars, I definitely would.

Incredible meal! We decided to get the KC strip despite the $70 price tag. It was definitely the best steak I've had. The Brussels were so delicious with the chili oil and Parmesan. Our server was so kind and patient and explained everything well, and made our special occasion even more special. The only complaint i have (and it's a small one) is that I had a reservation for 7pm and we weren't seated until 7:20pm despite arriving right at our reserved time. For only 2 people on a Thursday. But the wait was worth it after the wonderful meal we had. The ambiance reminds me of an elevated Texas Roadhouse if you can picture that. A great experience overall, but definitely a splurge!

I have wanted to try Twisted Tree since 2018. My birthday was the other day and my family treated me to lunch here. It was a mixed bag, for sure. The atmosphere is A-OK. I was expecting a slightly more upscale vibe, but this seems like a slightly nicer Walnut Grill or Longhorn Steahouse. It is owned by Syberg's, and you can tell. The service was absolutely horrific. We got sit in the very corner in a casual room, and were ignored, so we asked to move to the nicer dining room. The hostess grunted but finally gave into us. But it still didn't help. We waited 35 minutes for a waitress. 35. Minutes. The only way we got one was flagging down the (very friendly) bartender, who got the manager's attention. Finally, our server Breanna appeared out of nowhere. Apparently she got confused and was supposed to be serving us the entire time. She was friendly, but honestly, we were annoyed. The food was great, if not a bit overpriced. The Crab Rangoon were a notch above traditional Chinese food. They tasted like China King's but with more garlic flavor. The House Salad was very good and we enjoyed the various sauces that were explained to us. The steaks? Not bad but not $47 quality. We ordered 6-oz filet mignons and were still hungry. They were tender but slightly overdone and needed some more seasoning. I was sent home a free slice of Wedding Cake, which I appreciated. It was decent. But overall? Not loving Twisted Tree, but I can see why people enjoy it. Apparently we went on a bad day for their service...

We had a 3:30pm reservation for a Saturday. We planned for a late lunch, early dinner, after a day shopping in the city. Parking wasn't bad and we found a spot on the side of the building. Once inside, we had only a short wait to be seated, even though we were a little early for the reservation. Everyone was very friendly. Given the time of day, it wasn't very busy and the restaurant was much quieter than usual. Our waiter and his assistant (Justin and Peter) were both great! The family style salad and bread is my favorite here. I really enjoy the house French served with it. I think it has a little kick to it that makes it extra delicious. My husband had the balsamic dressing with his salad, and he really enjoyed it. For the main course, I had the 8 ounce filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My husband had the 16 ounce ribeye with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steaks were ordered medium, and both cooked perfectly! The potatoes were amazing. The asparagus wasn't that great, but I won't even take a star away for it because everything else was delicious! We didn't have room for dessert this time, but I always recommend the wedding cake. We finished up with a tiny bag of mints and the check. You can't go wrong with Twisted Tree if you are in the mood for a good steak!

Ask the Community - Twisted Tree

Can you order from the bar/patio menu (a burger) when seated in the dining room?

Unfortunately, the bar menu is only available in the bar area. Thank you!

Looking at the menu, it doesn't appear kid friendly, would that be accurate?

Hi Charise, We do offer a children's menu with 4 or 5 different items included. Thank you!

Can you do separate bills for a party of people?

Yes, separate checks are not a problem!

    What do people wear here?

Most people just wear casual clothes. Nice jeans and shirt for the guys. I usually wear a casual dress in the summer and jeans and nice sweater in the winter.

Do patrons have to wear a mask inside of the establishment?

    Not as of 2/28/22

What is Twisted Trees uncorking fee?

    $25 per bottle Thanks!

Do they cater to birthday requests? or have complimentary birthday desserts?

I am not sure. We celebrated our anniversary and they brought out a piece of their Wedding Cake and Ice Cream. It was good, but beware... we were charged for it!!! We didn't…

The vibe when we visited was less brewery and more unsupervised playground. Kids were running around barefoot, throwing mulch and rocks, while plenty of parents sat back with drinks in hand. My wife and I, along with several other guests, were repeatedly getting hit with rocks from children running around the property. Maybe this was an unusually busy night, but it was hard to relax or have a conversation between the constant chaos, the trains, and the swarm of kids treating the place like recess. I'd post photos, but every picture is mostly other people's children, and that doesn't seem fair. If you're looking for a quiet drink or an adult atmosphere, you may want to look elsewhere. The only complaint here is the amount of meat/seafood they put on their sandwiches - it's like bread with a few shrimp. For the price you're paying (almost $20 an entree), I feel like you should be getting a little more meat. But at least it's good. I got a burger this time and the patties were seasoned super well and honestly very, very good. Such a cool spot, especially on a nice day. Great spot for beers and hanging out with friends.

For the karaoke, you go up to the KJ get into the queue, and then add your songs across the evening for each of your turns. There was quite a variety being sung. You sing in front of the fireplace. There is a little bit of room to dance around the edges but not much. Despite being a "nonsmoking" bar, there were patrons vaping indoors and there was a cigarette smell inside (perhaps wafting in from the smokers outside?). The ladies bathroom was very clean. There is free parking outside in their attached lot, but you might have to get creative if you get there later in the night, as the lot gets crowded. Grandfathered with local liquor licensing, TGI almost went extinct in 2010 when longtime owner Frank Rodman passed away (RIP). In 2012 it was purchased by former Blues hockey player Jim Campbell and his wife, Jennifer (a Kirkwood native), who did a thorough refresh and renovation. Jennifer's great uncle actually owned the tavern earlier in the 1960s, so it was a natural return to the family. They have a full bar with reasonably priced drinks. Didn't see a food menu (need to confirm cause looks like maybe they used to) but bar snacks (pretzels and chips). Someone ordered pizza delivered which seemed like a good option. The vibe is like you are inside a house, with couches and a fireplace. They have a small back patio to enjoy nice weather and they do allow smoking outside. For games, there's Golden Tee, a jukebox, and steel tip dart board (which was kinda blocked by Golden Tee). If you happen to be in Kirkwood and feeling thirsty, check it out. So get the little ones ordered in first and then decide on the adults.

We had a reservation on a Saturday night. We were greeted and seated right away. We're not fond of…read morehigh top tables, but that's all that was available when I made the reservation. I only saw two high top tables for two people and they were in corners. So we sat in a corner on backless stools. Stools in restaurants should have backs!Pretty uncomfortable and we won't do that again. It also has really high ceilings so it got pretty loud in there. Our server was Erin and she was good! The place was packed inside and outside (in the rain - there were umbrellas over the tables) so the staff was super busy. She kept the drinks and food coming at a good pace. We started off with drinks and onion rings. We had been told how good the onion rings were so we had to order them - they lived up to the hype! I'm not a beer drinker, but my husband is. He had three different ones and didn't really enjoy any of them. He tried Tidewater Plains, Master of the Universe, and Batholith. I had a Jungleberg cocktail and liked it so much, I ordered another one. The server said they were out of them. There were five ingredients in the drink so I have no idea what they were out of. I ordered a Spicy Ancho Margarita and it was okay. It shouldn't be called spicy, because it is not. I ordered Chicken Wings and Onion Soup. Yes, it was summer. But it was cold and rainy and soup sounded good! The soup was very good - very cheesy and they didn't put a chunk of bread in there to get all soggy, which I appreciated. The wings were okay. They were way too saucy for me. My husband got the Philly and said it was okay, but nothing special. I would have probably given 3.5 stars, but that is not an option. I'd go back for the onion rings!
