My son and I decided to try Twisted Tree on Watson Road yesterday. Upon entering, we noticed how dark and dim it was and music was loud for conversation. We had several friends recommend this eatery and were excited. We ordered Tenderloin sandwich, onion rings ( good) and Cordon Bleu sandwich with salad (crisp and generous portion) The tenderloin meat was overdone and not much flavor. We stopped by here just kinda for the heck of it because I had been sick and today was the first day I felt better and I was craving a good meal. We did go at lunchtime and were surprised by how packed they were. We were told there was a 40 minute wait so we went to the bar and I ordered a St. Louis sour which was delicious but they absolutely do not skimp on the liquor. It was very strong! I also ordered the Fried lobster bites which were absolutely wonderful. They weren't overly spiced but given the delicate flavor of lobster I did not miss a bit of spice. They were also lightly breaded which I appreciated as I am not a fan of things that are heavily breaded. The shoestring potatoes they were served on were also very delicious. Though busy the bar area was nice and cozy and we were waited in quickly. It was nowhere near 40 minutes when our table was called so I grabbed my drink and appetizer and headed to the table. I was immediately greeted by a super friendly waiter who ensured I had water and brought me a coke I asked for quickly. He answered all of our questions about specials and left us to decide but came back at an appropriate time to ask if we had decided. We chose to share the Wagyu Strip Steak and a side of loaded mashed potatoes and two add in twisted shrimp. The shrimp had a nice smoky flavor but I did not taste jalapeño at all. They were delicious and I would definitely consider them for my meal on return. Our steak was absolutely blue when I had ordered it medium and when asking for it to be cooked a little longer, was told that is their medium... if that is the case I would order it medium well for sure. However they took our steak and cooked it a bit more and brought our plates back ensuring that we each had the plate taken from us. It was much better and we were definitely asked a few times if it was more to our liking. The steak was delicious. It was served over a small covering of au jus with Bone Marrow butter (my choice out of butters offered). I typically enjoy steak sauce but this one was delicious as it was with the butter and au jus. The star though was the loaded mashed potatoes. They were the best tasting mashed potatoes I have ever eaten and I was extremely happy with my choice of side. I highly recommend the mashed, and would gladly get just an order of potatoes to eat at home with a meal. We did not order dessert as we were indeed stuffed but the choices looked absolutely delicious. I will say that if you go here you need to be prepared to pay more for the quality, but it was definitely quality not just an overpriced steak. They have options in a range of prices and I would go back to get a burger which we saw someone at the bar eating that looked fabulous. The lunch menu is great because it offers an array of burgers and sandwiches as well as a selection from the dinner menu so to spend less you definitely want to go at lunch and indulge in one of their lunch items.... We had a belated Father's Day's dinner with friends. First of all, our server, Alfie, was excellent. He made our dinner even more special if that was even possible!! Our meal started off with appetizers of onion rings and crab Rangoon that were crispy and flavorful. Steaks were were served hot and seasoned just right at the correct temperatures. Fried lobster and Shrimp were excellent as well. Let's not forget dessert. The special dessert was the Meyer Lemon Cake and it was to die for!!! I got the garden salad with the madam French dressing and I really liked it. My husband got the Caesar salad and it was equally as good. For my main meal, I got the beer battered lobster. Do not, I repeat do not get this. It was honestly awful. I had a few bites and then it was way too much and too heavy for me. This place is divine! This was only my third time being here but it still surpassed my expectations. I came here with a couple friends Saturday afternoon to celebrate one of their birthdays. I was the first to arrive in my party and they went ahead and sat me. Upon waiting, I was given water to start but declined on getting a drink until the rest of my party came, which they arrived shortly after. Once everyone was seated, our server came and got drinks and apps started. We decided to share the plate of beef tenderloin skewers. These babies were perfectly cooked- I'd say medium rare, and were smothered in their sherry peppercorn sauce. After those were finished, we were brought our caesar salad and bread. This has always been a highlight for me as their salad and croutons are some of the best I've ever had! I love that it's shareable, however be warned that you get the choice of the regular salad or caesar and it's for the entire table, so choose wisely! The bread is served in a bag and comes with butter, although I believe there may be other spreads available. Will munching on those treats, we put in our dinner orders and I went with the chicken spiedini. While this was only my third time there, I was surprised to learn they constantly change their menu, and this was definitely a first at seeing the chicken spiedini pasta on the menu. It didn't take long before our food was brought out and I started going to town. I was a bit taken aback as the spiedini didn't look how I expected it to (usually breaded and charbroiled) but nonetheless, still tasted great. As for the pasta, I tasted more Alfredo than anything and little to no white wine or lemon. Regardless, it was fantastic but so filling, I could only eat a few bites. I was in town visting family from St. Louis and we decided to try this spot for a birthday dinner! The parking lot can get very crowded because its next to a hotel, so they also offer free valet parking out front! The steakhouse is nice- I would describe the decor as rustic and casual. The restaurant is massive- we were seated in an area that was a bit of a sports bar vibe with tvs on the wall etc. Our server was knowledgable and helpful going over the menu, etc. They have an extensive cocktail, wine, bourbon, scotch and whiskey menu. Our birthday person was very happy they had his favorite scotch! For appetizers we decided to go with the crab rangoon, twisted shrimp and the shrimp cocktail. Everything was very good- I really appreciated all the sauces that accompanied the dishes. The Shrimp cocktail was classic, the twisted shrimp was good, but the star of the show was really the crab rangoons! Filled with real crab meat- it was paired with 2 sauces (mustard/sweet sour). Yummmm! Each entree comes with a choice of the house or caesar salad. This is prepared family style for the entire table to share. Our server let us know we could order and try both! That's exactly what we did and wow!! The caesar salad comes in a bowl but the dressings and toppings are mixed in. The house salad comes in the bowl with lettuce/veggies with toppings a la carte on the side. They have feta cheese, homemade croutons, and 2 different salad dressing options (one tangy french and one sweet onion). These were both fantastic!!! Lots of flavor and really fresh. Three of us ordered steaks- the filet (6oz and 8oz) and the other the salmon with gnocci, carrots, mushrooms, I really appreciate the quality of the food- especially wild caught! Steaks were flavorful, buttery, etc. We got mashed potatoes (with au jus), chipotle corn, mushrooms and green beans to share. For the steaks, we also got bearnaise and sherry peppercorn cream sauce. The meal was fantastic- I would say one of my only complaints would be the temperature on some of the sides were colder. The mashed potatoes weren't very warm. For dessert since it was a birthday they brought out a free slice of their wedding cake (almond cake with a very sweet buttercream icing). Back to the happy hour, they do seasonal drinks which are delicious. I love the sangria they had. Hands down my favorite from the happy hour menu is the tenderloin skewer or the prime rib sliders, but I haven't had anything I didn't like on their menu. If you are feeling frisky ask about their Bookers smoked old fashion! Now I live in north county and I drive happily for this place! The only reason I am giving them the two stars is because of our server who was delightful he made the experience. I believe his name was Alfy. When I walked in I walked to the host stand and two young girls kept talking to each other and did not acknowledge me until I greeted them and said hello. There was no wait we were quickly sat. The food came out timely and the steaks were perfect but the sides were very disappointing. The au gratin potatoes had no flavor at all, the broccoli also was not seasoned and raw. The garlic herb steak butter tasted just like olive oil and Italian seasonings I am thankful we did not put it on the steaks. We started with the crab Rangoon and onion rings both were good but not hot: the street corn however was delicious!! Would never think this restaurant is as good as it is since it is connected to a holiday inn. I guess due to being connected, parking is a bit difficult on a Friday night. Restaurant itself has nice decor. We were seated in the back room, which I am going to assume is a meeting room and there was a television on. It was showing random scenic things, but was kind of annoying due to the lighting. The food here was very good. The house salad is served family style and has 2 options for dressing. The vinegrette was delicious and the bread too was served warm and delicious. Drinks were pretty good too! Only complaint was the timing of the food and drinks. We ordered drinks when we first got there, and they came out quickly. Unfortunately the food was not as timely so we finished our drinks before the main course. We ordered another round, but those drinks were pretty slow to come out. My friend wanted to eat her steak with her wine, but by the time the wine came out the steak was cold. Twisted Tree is hands down my favorite spot for celebratory dinners! We came here again last week for my husband's birthday and had a fantastic meal, starting off with complimentary fresh bread and butter. Most of the entrees come with my favorite part of any Twisted Tree meals---the SALAD. Their house salad is phenomenal and includes housemade croutons, 2 unique dressings (one creamy slightly spicy one, and one sweet light dressing), and crumbled cheese. We ordered the halibut special with pasta sauce, and the ribeye steak with a side of mashed potatoes with au jus sauce. The ribeye steak was perfection; tender, flavorful and buttery with a slightly crispy exterior. The halibut pasta sauce was flavorful and I enjoyed the mushrooms in it, but the halibut was slightly overcooked and dry. They gave us a complimentary slice of almond cake that had a really fun sparkler candle in it, since we were celebrating a birthday. I just love the wonderful service and food here! read more

We made reservations in a month advance for Valentine's date night. We were quickly seated right away. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and we didn't get treated differently because we didn't order alcohol. That was a plus especially eating a high end restaurant. We ordered Twisted Shrimp as our appetizer. The jumbo shrimp with bacon and jalapeño was so good. Dipping it in the buffalo sauce gave it a kick of spiciness and flavor. The homemade blue cheese had that sharp flavor which went well with the shrimp. The ceaser salad was served with our entrees. The croutons were crispy but soft at the same time. Shaved Parmesan and croutons were the best part of the salad. The chicken spiedini was good with the cream, soft noodles, spinach and juicy chicken. It was basic but flavorful. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly to my liking. I thought Oscar style (lobster and sauce) was a perfect combo to add to my steak. I want to start off saying I love the ambiance and it was busy as soon as the doors open. We arrived at 11am. We did not make a reservation but they accommodated us very quickly. The service was very kind and my date enjoyed the steak sliders. I ordered a bone in ribeye special which was priced at $172 and would have been fine if it was delicious but I would rather go to Ruth's Chris and pay half the price and thee times the flavor. The steak was huge and big enough for 2-3 people but sadly was missing flavor. Too rushed to enjoy. The three of us ordered the lobster bisque, which was delicious. Before we finished, they put the shared salads in the center of the table, and the bowls by our elbows. The table top was so crowded that a fourth person's meal could not have fit. The soup bowls were removed as soon as we put our spoons down, as if they were afraid we would pocket them. The entrees arrived when two of us were finishing our salads, and the third still had 1/2 a bowl. Three servers took the two empty bowls and put down the meals, even though the other was still eating. As she raised her fork, they grabbed her still unfinished bowl! She took it back, but they had already put her steak and potato in that spot on the table, so she finished her salad holding the bowl in mid-air, near her chin, while three people stood over her, waiting to reclaim the bowl. The sea bass and steak were absolutely delicious, as expected, but the timing was so rushed, without a moment between the courses for the food to settle, or to chat, that we could not really experience it. $280.00 for three people, and hardly the "smart, sophisticated service" they advertise. FYI: We had arrived promptly for our 4:00 pm reservation, did not have pre-dinner cocktails, and ordered promptly, as we'd reviewed the menu on-line. We had not drawn out the meal, and there were still many empty tables at that time, so we clearly did not out-stay our allotted time and there was no need to rush us out to turn the table. read more

It's always great here, whether I sit at the bar for a quiet lunch solo, or I'm on the outside patio with friends, or loving it in the dining room--one of my favorite places for a steak. They just do it right. And the salads, AMAZING. Make sure you get the two top house salad dressings and then mix them up. And even better? This is one of my favorite spots in the County! It's such a great spot to go for fine dining, yet a semi casual and comfortable atmosphere. Dim dinner lighting in the dining room and a full service bar just make this an all around great experience for dining. The food is incredible; a kiss to the Chef. Constant off the menu options as well as an outstanding menu! The main course is brought out on a cart! The wait staff is always top notch and over accommodating.
