It was a flavorful cut, a little fatty (as ribeye tends to be), but exactly what you'd expect from that cut. The steaks come with a twice-baked potato and vegetable (or you can swap for different vegetables). The potato was flavorful but fairly dense. We also did the bread service - it was good, but felt a bit pricey for the portion. We ended with the flourless chocolate torte, which was very rich and the perfect way to finish the meal - especially on Valentine's Day. Overall, the food was good and the menu is solid. The quality was there, but the portions, bread service and sides didn't fully meet expectations. Upscale dining spot with amazing steaks. I knew this was a pricier restaurant so we saved it for a special occasion. I was very grateful the staff did pay attention to my special request as many restaurants ignore my request for a quieter area due to my husband's hearing issues. Our cauliflower app was delicious! I ordered the sea bass and it was honestly just okay. Not worth the upscale price. Luckily my husband loved his steak although the sides weren't anything special. Now the food here is good but we have had much more enjoyable meals for the price. The food is great and we'll get to it in a minute, but have you met Duke, the bartender?He's mixing up good vibes back there. Time for a review update and a five star bump (FSB)! The reason? I've been here multiple times during dinner that I can say with certainty that the place delivers a fantastic dining experience, exceptional service and delicious food. Ambiance is classy, noise level is low (something my husband and I appreciate). Service has always been great from the moment we were seated to the time we sign for the bill. Most recently, we came in for our early anniversary dinner. We didn't announce it was so because neither of us likes attention. I had a glass of wine. I love that they pour it table side! My husband had a cocktail. A Manhattan, which he loved. We started with one of their special appetizer, an octopus. It was prepared and seasoned well and it came with some charred, roasted little potatoes. I've had their steak a couple of times in the past so I decided to switch it up and get the Chilean sea bass. Scrumptious! The crispy fried kale took it to another level. My husband ordered the ribs and it came on a cool looking plank. He ordered the full ribs so he had more than enough leftovers to take home. So did I! Of course, it can't be a Friday night dinner without dessert so we had the pavlova. We had never heard of Truffles but we were given a gift certificate. I don't really like going to expensive restaurants but have to say that Truffles was worth it. Four of us went, all enjoyed their food. The pork chop was huge and delicious, my chicken breast was tender and flavorful - half these orders went home for lunch the next day. Beet salad and a steak were great and all of us enjoyed one order of the roasted pineapple split dessert. We brought our own wine for a cork fee and they were very nice about it. The sommelier (for one cocktail and a port) was friendly, service good. We were seated right by the kitchen on a Saturday night but not too noisy or distracting. Truffles is somewhat formal and I would call it fine dining. Very busy but they take reservations. The Hawaiian Red Ahi Tuna wraps were absolutely to die for. We ordered the tagliatelle ragu and the New York strip, both fantastic! On the dessert menu, we tried the flourless chocolate torte and the croissant bread pudding, which were great. Truffles has been around for a while and has been on my list, but I never made it in until just recently for a birthday dinner with friends. I loved that the location had a good parking lot and was easy to get to. The decor and ambiance are designed to give you a feeling of luxury. We had a party of 6 and the round table we were placed at was the perfect size for conversation but still had room for all of our food and plated. Waitress was very helpful and attentive. The wine and bourbon list was massive and I recommend that you do your research in advance. It is way too big to really explore at the table. Bourbons were kind of high priced but, "fine dining" so expected. House salad is really good and fresh with nice light, balanced ingredients. We tried the korean cauliflower and bread service for apps. The cauliflower was ok but I wouldn't order again. It was a little disappointing that they charge for bread service. A single order comes with 5 pieces of bread, connected but tearable, and each a pretty small finger-sized piece. The board they served it on had a well full of olive oil and that was a mess. It was hard to pass without spilling and hard to share the oil since you had to pass the whole big bread board with it. Definitely a form over function thing that caused some frustration. Most of my party got steaks and all were very happy. 2 of my party got their steaks tuscan style and although they really liked the flavors on the meat, they wished they had not gotten salads first since the tuscan style plate replaced the usual potato and veg side with an arugula salad (so double salads for those folks). One person got the pork chop and it was massive, seemed like he liked it. I got the tagliatelle ragu and it was a good portion, not obscene but I had leftovers. It kind of tasted like pot roast pasta in a decent way. I don't know if I would get it again but I was not disappointed. 2 in our party ordered dessert, creme brulee and chocolate torte. The chocolate torte was phenomenal and one person said they would have come just for that. Not a lot of non-alcohol after dinner drink options. I ordered drip coffee and it was better than most I have had after dinner at supposedly nice restaurants, although it wasn't amazing. Some at our table ordered port and the bottle was humungous - a very amusing presentation. We were celebrating 4 birthdays among our 6 diners and they brought us a very nice plate of warm, gooey, chocolate chip cookies cut into quarters to share. This was a PERFECT birthday acknowledgement. We didn't need a big dessert per person or one to share with 6 spoons. It was small, delicious, and a gracious gift. If I could do half stars I would give 4.5. There were some small misses that I would not expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Woahhhhhh Baby, the Butchery is no joke. My partner and I have a pretty lengthy history with truffles as their Truffle Fries are some of the best fries in STL--by some of the best I mean indubitably top 3, potentially #1. Steaks? awesome. Shrimp? superb. Ribs? love 'em. But, this review will focus on the Butchery. I finally made it out and wow, let me eat here everyday. I grabbed the Italian beef and this thing is elite. The giardiniera is perfect. Italian beef was tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned. The roll? oh gosh, the roll was perfect. This sandwich is a work of art. I know we are not in Chicago, but this Italian beef can hang with the best of them. The butchery is loaded with local eats, cuts of meat, and provisions. A ton of house made offerings inundate the shelves. From hummus to Chimichurri they have you covered. Cannot wait to get back. I honestly don't know where to begin. Service is a 100/10. Courtney and Vito are my favorites but everyone is fantastic! The food is what dreams are made of. There are the usual suspects like the steak menu, a few fish, ribs, chicken, and truffle fries that don't change. But the seasonal options are amazing. And the nightly specials are always unbelievable. We've had the short rib special over Japanese sweet potato which is out of this world, the scallops with crunchy kale and cauliflower puree, the ceviche, the truffle fries, and a variety of steaks. You cannot go wrong with any choice! I cannot come to truffles without those fries, they are what dreams are made of! With your steak you get a choice of sauce - they are all delicious but the chimichurri is my favorite. Every time the food is cooked to absolute perfection. And the presentation is over the top. For dessert - honestly they're all delicious. The truffles are a work of art. The cookies are so good! The pineapple ice cream dish is unbelievable. Everything is decadent and so delicious. But let's get to the good stuff - the 6000+ bottle wine list. Huge wineo? You'll find something unbelievable. Lost? The somm is there to help. We have had some incredible wines. Love that each wine is paired perfectly with the correct wine glass, too. And the cocktails are perfect. We hadn't been to Truffles for quite a number of years. I was looking for somewhere to go the night before my husband's birthday and thought we'd check it out. I should have left well enough alone and chosen somewhere else. We were sort of greeted. A man and a woman were at the hostess stand and they did look at us when we walked in. I gave our name and said we had a reservation. They conferred about which table to seat us at and the woman said to follow her. We were never really greeted and or spoken to other than "follow me". The dining room was pretty full and we passed a few four tops that were empty. We were seated on a long row of tables against a wall. We had the very end seats so I sat in the booth side of the table up against a wall on my left side. Not uncomfortable, but not great. At one point a diner came over to say hi to the woman next to me (who had her foot up on the seat), and she was practically in my lap. Any time a server came to wait on our neighboring table, their rear ends were in our faces. Nobody was ever seated at at least one of the open four tops, but yeah, sure, go ahead and mash us into a corner. Our server was okay. She was a little loud, her hands were flying all over the place as she talked and she was kind of a lot. We placed our orders and received our salads pretty quickly. My husband received the wrong salad so we waited a few minutes for that to be taken care of. He really enjoyed the beet salad. I had the house salad that was made up of a lot of lettuce. There was some onion. And there is supposed to be fruit. The fruit was craisins. And big, wide strips of Romano cheese which is very dry. My husband really enjoyed his pasta. I got the burger and it was okay. Definitely nothing special. Definitely not worth $27 for a burger and some fries. We eat out somewhat often. We don't mind paying higher prices for really good food. My salad, that was mostly a pile of lettuce, was $15. And a very average burger was $27? Their prices are a little crazy. When we were finished, our server informed us she would be bringing out a surprise and it was "on her" - I'm assuming she didn't actually pay for it. So she brings out vanilla bean crème brûlèe. It had a candle and a few raspberries on it. My husband hates crème brûlèe. He ate the raspberries. I ate some of the dessert. It wasn't very good. The top was torched a bit too much and had a burned taste to it. The cream part tasted like vanilla pudding from a box mix. My experience alone would have earned the restaurant a 2. I gave it a 3 because my husband did enjoy his meal quite a bit. We won't be going back. (I did take a photo of my burger, but it didn't turn out at all - it it was a burger and fries - nothing too exciting.) Editing to add one last note! I used the handicapped stall in the ladies restroom. I'm almost 5'6" and had to extend my arm and reach above my head to hang my purse up on the hook. This place is absolutely amazing!! When I drove up, it looked like it was a really small restaurant however, when I went in, it was actually really big. The outside is very misleading. It's decorated very nice and I like the fact that the bar area is separated from the dining room area. The food is clearly the main event in this place. I attempted to try something from each section of the menu and it was really good. I had the bread service premium, the house salad, and the prime New York strip! Literally everything was excellent! We went to truffles for my birthday dinner. It is an upscale restaurant perfect for a special dinner. We got the $10 bread service, half bottle of wine, the chicken and filet mignon and finished with a complementary Creme brûlée with a little candle for my birthday. The wine menu is extensive and if you know anything about wine this is the place to go. There servers taste the wine before they serve it to ensure quality. The nice thing about the menu is that there is a range of prices you can get a glass of wine for $11 or a bottle for $1200 and everything in between. The food menu has cheaper options if you are bougie on a budget or you can splurge. The food was excellent. I would not recommend the $10 bread service. Previous reviews mention free bread service, but this is no longer the case. For the amount of money people are spending vs what you get I don't think the bread was worth it. It was a very small loaf, and left a lot to be desired. The chicken was so juicy and nicely seasoned and probably the favorite of the night. The steaks come with "seasonal veg" you do not get to pick your sides like at some other restaurants. The twice baked potato was very well seasoned and flavorful, but the green beans were less interesting. They could have benefited from some garlic or lemon. While the steak was perfectly cooked, it was the smallest steak I have ever seen. Generally I'm used to picking a 6oz or 8 oz filet mignon. The menu does not specify the oz of the filet. The prices listed on the menu are for a 4oz and 8oz. Thankfully, despite the small size we left full and happy. We had not been to Truffles so we stopped for a drink. We wanted a table in the bar area but each one had a reserved sign on them. So we sat at the bar where we met a great bartender, Duke. My girlfriend asked for the drink menu but they don't have one. Duke said he can make us anything so I asked for a pomegranate cosmo. My girlfriend wanted to see how mine tasted before ordering one for herself. The cosmo was very smooth so my girlfriend ordered one also. We told Duke we wanted to order food but we wanted a table. Duke saw people leaving and he went to the hostess and requested the table for us. Excellent service from Duke! We split the Miso Duck Breast and a side of asparagus. Jeff and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary at Truffles last night. The food was superb. I started with the Barbecue Shrimp dish. Perfect blend of spices. My entree was a rice noodle dish with crab and veggies. Again the spices were perfecto. Our service was on point with great timing and good information. The ambiance reminds me of a bit older school elegance which is what drew me to the location based on the photos. Who wants the noise of a bistro style place for a special night out? We decided to share the steak tartare. The waiter described it and neither one of us was excited about it. Then we were served and both our eyes lit up. Little puff pastries stuffed with tartare. Absolutely delicious. Because of their pricing, I decided to forgo the Dover Sole. I went with the burrata cheese instead. He got the bone in pork chop. Both were outstanding. I don't get out for lunch a whole lot. I have been wanting to get a sandwich at Truffles Butchery ever since they expanded it. I stopped in on a Thursday and ended up getting the Italian Beef Sandwich (Braised Beef Tenderloin, Provolone, Pepperoncini, & Giardiniera Relish), a bag of BBQ chips, and sesame noodles. The chips and noodles were fine but the sandwich was pretty good. I ate it probably 20 + minutes after leaving there with it and it was still warm. I enjoyed the tender beef and the provolone cheese. This was a 6" roll and it could have been toasted a touch more for my liking. My real minor complaint is that the giardiniera did not have enough heat or acid. I personally enjoy when a little of the brine makes its way to the sandwich and I like heat. I was between the pastrami and Italian Beef and one of the guys making the sandwiches steered me towards Italian Beef and I think it was the correct choice. I will be back to try more sandwiches hopefully sooner rather than later! read more

When my son asked me how many stars will I give Truffles, I thought for a little and said 5. Then he said, you are pretty generous. So I started to explain: . Coming from California where Fine dining is like Jack in the box. They are everywhere. A few things stand out besides food quality but also the service and experience. Service - Great service but one thing I'm especially impressed was that we had a pretty large party of 12. They were able to serve all of us at the same time. We also had the prime steaks and they were able to deliver exact medium rare. The timing control was extraordinary. Seafood pasta - fresh made pasta and you can taste it right off the bat - Al dente! The sauce is a bit rich but that's just personal preference. The truffle risotto was satisfying. Having had the best truffle pasta in Rome, this brought back great memory. The BBQ shrimp got some ting to it. Not too spicy but quite "spicey". Very rich in flavor and the shrimp which should be named prawns were very fresh. Sounded like eating crackers fresh. The dessert I picked hazelnut chocolate cake which I will never say no to hazelnut. However, I did find it too sweet for my taste. But if anything I remember getting this meal is the way 7 waiters/waitress walked in to serve our dish at the same time. Only seen them at the top tier restaurants. Impressive. read more

We did escargot to be safe which it was good but nothing special. Then did the mole and yesssss so good. My filet was perfectly cooked rare. The seasoning around it was good but I probably would have rather not having it. Overall great experience. I still have other places I like better and for the money, I would pick something different probably Four stars is really around the wine and drinks - Wine selection is extensive (woot) and expensive (boo). We ordered the Turnbull 2019 can because it was one of the least expensive at around $120-130 which I think you could buy between $45-60. So probably better to bring your own bottle and pay the corkage fee which is $30 if they don't have it and $60 if they do. Again just a little expensive in my opinion, would have been nice to have more reasonably priced options without a huge margin read more

We had been looking forward to a delicious meal at Truffles. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We arrived right on time for our 7pm reservation and were taken to a table right at the kitchen door. So the lesson is, if you choose to go to Truffles, learn the table layout and request your table by number when making your reservation! We came for my partner's birthday and got the beet salad, wagyu and duck (?). Beet salad was so refreshing and they gave generous amounts. We had such a good time at Truffles restaurant in STL. Its the perfect place for a nice date night or dinner for girls night. It's difficult to find a place that will accomodate ~15 women on a saturday night and they handled it flawlessly.
