When I visit St. Louis I tend to find my butt in a seat at one of Side Project's locations. On this visit, I made sure to get a visit in to the Cellar and to the Brewery. I actually ended up at Side Project Cellar twice during my time, and had some small pours each time. Visit One: M.J.K. (2024): A Double and Triple Barrel Aged Barleywine aged in Willett Family Estate Bourbon and Brazilian Amburana Barrels for 31 to 32 Months. This is one of my all time favorite beers. So good I got a pour of it both days. Shin Shin: An Imperial Stout aged in Willett Barrels and finished on Sump Coffee exclusive to Side Project and Canadian Maple Syrup. This was the last keg of this beer. Derivation (Blend #17): A Blend of Willett Bourbon and VSOP Cognac Barrel Aged O.W.K. and Vibes Recipes aged for 24 to 40 months. It was then thrown on Vanilla Beans from Sri Lanka and Tanzania. A delicious Vanilla bomb. Visit Two: As I said - had M.J.K. again. Electric Roads: An English Barleywine aged in Weller, Blantons, Elijah Craig, Bakers, and 1792 Barrels mixing Three Different Barleywine Recipes. Bubble Wrap (Blend #1): An Imperial Stout brewed in collaboration with The Veil, Otherhalf, and weldwerks. The Stout was Aged in a Blend of Weller 6, Weller 7, Weller 12, Blantons, Rittenhouse Rye, and Old Fitzgerald Barrels for 12 to 37 Months. Then it was adjunct with Toasted Coconut, Sump Coffee, Vanilla Beans, and Fresh Ground Cinnamon. ______

St. Louis at times feels like it is overflowing with options for beer. Even among an ocean of alcohol Side Project Cellar stands out. It goes out of its way to curate a selection of beers from throughout the US and beyond. The menu also changes relatively often so there is something new to try out every time you go in. The space itself is warm and inviting, although on the small side. It is ideal for a date night or a couple friends rather than a large party. The staff is always knowledgeable and welcoming and they will happily help you find the drink that works for you.

My boyfriend and I had a great experience here. We came on a Thursday to try some beers and we didn't realize it was a bottle share night so they gave us free tastings of all sorts of other beers people had brought in. The bartenders were super friendly and really helpful in educating us. We really liked our time here and we will definitely be back.

Beer for after work, I was here with my laptop and enjoyed a very peaceful early evening of writing Yelp reviews, sipping a frosty beverage and watching people coming and going. Side Project Cellar has a tremendous beer list, much more than just the usual macro brews on tap. It's comfortable, it's got a very chill vibe and it's a lovely little spot. We were at their other tap room last time we traveled to STL but this one was my favorite by far. We just stopped in to have a drink and ended up staying for several hours. What a great place!

Love the rustic tasting room for Side Project. Space is open and airy and allows patrons to swing by, relax and enjoy cold craft brews. Staff is always super friendly and helpful. Easy to strike a convo with other patrons who also love the specialty craft. Blessed to have this sort of community in St. Louis!

I came to Side Project during the Maplewood Coffee Crawl. They had an excellent coffee stout with rich coffee flavor prepared for the event. The atmosphere was really intimate and welcoming. Definitely a great date night place on a weekend. Will definitely be back!

Chill, cozy spot to try a variety of some of the best beers made this side of the Mississippi. Draft beer on a rotating list, as well as a selection of barrel and aged bottles. Merch is cool and there is a library of games to play at the table. Smaller, more intimate feel than the larger brewery in town.

Ohhhh yeah. Belgian Stout & a worthy mustache

Great lil outdoor patio and sophisticated space inside that's a pleasure to be in. Beautiful beer & soft, cotton swag inside (beanies, sweatshirt, tees and beyond) Really cool spot!!

Visited The Side Project Cellar on a Thursday with some coworkers and it was a great experience. I've been looking to checking out Side Project ever since I knew I was coming out to St. Louis area for work. The hype behind this brewery holds its weight and some! I was honestly a bit scared at first because they looked closed around 8pm, but Devin, the bartender, assured us that they were open. They have a healthy draft selection which includes their own stuff and guest beers. They have an extensive bottle selection for on site consumption too. If that doesn't catch your eye, they have a whiskey and bourbon wall for your enjoyment as well. It's a very spacious spot and great to go solo, on a date, or in a group. Devin, our bartender, was very helpful and knowledgeable with all of questions to provide great recommendations. I would certainly throw this place on your list to check out if you're a craft beer and/or bourbon enthusiast!

Amazing beers, friendly and knowledgeable bartenders who will gladly pour you a taste, and generous patrons, I wish I went here more often! Great selection of whiskeys and other breweries too (saw Nogne, a Norwegian brewery I never see on tap, for example).

What a spectacular hidden gem that kind of sneaks up on you. This has been on our want to visit list for a while, but we honestly didn't put it at the top. What a mistake! So sad we haven't been here sooner. The beer selection is AMAZING, everything from Lambics to Imperial Stouts, many of the offerings are their own with a few outside ones mixed in. Now, neither myself nor my husband are fans of sour beers, but we were given samples of a couple different options to help us see where our threshold was. The SP Fuzzy Blend #5 was a little over the threshold for tartness, but still had the taste of fresh peaches and was worth the try. The bartender Devon was delightfully knowledgeable and eager to help us decide what we wanted to try. We were also given a sample of the Shared Fra-gee-lay which by far our favorite! It was rich and decadent, so yummy that we ordered a full pour to share. I ended up ordering the SP La Belle Fleur which was a nice balance of tart and crisp fruit, a perfect refreshing summer beer. My husband ordered a couple of different dark beers including their Dunkel and he absolutely loved them! The atmosphere was laid back and everyone was so friendly. We will be returning and bringing our friends with us!

A few of us would stop in around 4/4:30pm and grab seats at the bar, chat, and polish off a couple beers. The bar was pretty spacious with plenty of seats surrounding it. Also, shoutout to the gentleman who served us drinks! He did a fantastic job taking care of us and even remembered us and our drink orders each day. Whenever I come back to St. Louis for work, I'm looking forward to coming back for some after work drinks!

Nothing divey about a hip cocktail or hip deviled eggs -- these are sophisticated modern twists, the exact move wine bars make and dives don't. A chalkboard of specials and weathered seating gesture at the aesthetic; the rest of the room knows. Kendall Roy of restaurants -- comes from privilege, wants badly to be of the people. It's a bit, and mostly the kitchen and bar back it up. Nevertheless, we arrived to a full room, hour wait for a table, but we fortunately arrived to snag the last first come patio table. The bar was also full, by the way, which felt neighborhood like, people clearly like this place during happy hour. The old fashioned makes the case: Old Grand-Dad Bonded, pickled rye, cognac, butterscotch bitters. Two whiskeys and a bitter you won't find at an actual dive. Rich, a little sweet. The harissa deviled eggs keep going -- fried shallots, roasted red peppers, cilantro, marinated tomato jam. You know, just like the old dive with the $1 PBR.Deviled eggs for people that don't like deviled eggs. However, we love deviled eggs...foreshadowing. The short ribs are the headline -- fall-apart tender over whipped potatoes substantial enough to stand up to the meat, gravy spot on. Eats like a perfectly executed roast dinner. The brie burger is the sneaky second hit, genuinely decadent, bacon with the cheese melting into the beef. The service was good and pleasant and that felt more like dive-friendly, where you might expect a wine "bar" to be snooty or full of themselves. 4.4 Stars Picking Nits: hip deviled eggs that reach past what they can hold. Tomato jelly on top is a lot going on, in the wrong way, and the egg disappears under it. These are trying to be hip deviled eggs more than they're trying to be good deviled eggs. Every ambitious kitchen has one plate that tries too hard; this appears to be one. A 5 needs those eggs landing, in the same way the entrees excelled. Regardless, we'll be back.

Six pm on a Tuesday, the bar was not busy. We asked server if we could sit at a table that had not been cleared since all the other tables in the area had "reserved" signs on them. The server told us "you can when I get to clearing it" so we sat at the bar understanding that it wasn't going to be any time soon. Fine, no big deal. The bartender wasn't too friendly, but again not a big deal- until the last person ordering asked for a chocolate martini. Nope. He couldn't do it- something about it wouldn't be good, then that he didn't have the ingredients. Fair enough but his delivery was super rude. The person ordering doesn't drink much else, so looked at the menu and settled on a modified espresso martini. Everyone else was drinking wine- all was good. We let him know we were going to be splitting the bill 4 ways. He came back and we ordered 4 small plates to share to start- but forgot to ask for fries- we tried 3 times to get his attention- fourth time was the charm when he brought plates and silverware to us. The food was good, that's the saving grace for this review. The server came back around to let us know the table was ready halfway through our first round of food. We already knew the employees weren't going to get any nicer if we asked to move, so we stayed put. A couple sat down next to us and the bartender fawned all over them- brought the manager out twice to meet with them as well. We ordered more food. But he never got friendlier or more attentive to our group- we didn't take it personally especially when two other men sat down next to us and he also treated them with disdain. We flagged him down when we were done and asked again to split the bill evenly. He muttered something the said something else about already having separate checks for our drinks. He came back with the split the food evenly besides our drinks- fine. We all agreed this wasn't good service - but we're not going to not tip him! We all tipped between 15-20%. As we walked to the door, we saw him look at each of the receipts, then threw down the booklets. The whole restaurant turned. We waited for him to look at us at the door- But he didn't. He acted like a child. And you know who's Wales around the bar to pick up the booklets? The server who gave us attitude first. Felt bad for her. Will never be back.

We had the patatas bravas, which were good, and the croquetas de bacalao. The croquetas were a little runny for my taste. I usually prefer them a bit meatier, but they were still enjoyable. We also shared a cheese plate, which was a nice portion for a snack with wine. The wines we tried were very good. Overall, this feels like a great spot to stop for a couple glasses of wine and some snacks between plans. I could also see coming back and building a full meal by ordering a few different plates. The food was delicious and happy hour prices were very reasonable. Service was prompt and our server was very knowledgeable about all the wines. I had my first dinner of my stay at Olive + Oak, and it blew me away from the moment I laid my eyes on it. From the unsuspecting street outside, the giant windows glow with the warm, sparkling light from within. An elegant dining room with a beautiful bar and a good amount of hustle and bustle. I felt like I was at an upscale New Orleans joint. Very cozy. Service was just as beautiful. Our server was extremely nice, new the menu backwards and forwards, and rattled off the nightly specials without hesitation. And on top of all of that, when we were getting some stuff to-go, she threw in more bread for us! You can't train that level of service. That's just a good person. Onto the food. We started off with the Blue Crab Gratin (calabrian chili, celery + pretzel bread). This was ooey, gooey, cheesy, delicious, had a fair amount of crab in it, had a nice little kick, and the sliced, crunchy pretzel bread dippers were exquisite. Something seasonal that isn't on their menu anymore, we ordered an Okonomiyaki, which is a savory Japanese pancake, basically, covered in sauce. Wow, this thing was done well. Very reminiscent of the authentic thing I've had in Japan. Very nice. Another dish that isn't on the menu anymore, the Catfish dish. It was slightly Asian and on top of some sort of risotto rice. I can't remember exactly, but I do remember that it was very well cooked, had a nice char. An eclectic dish that came together very nicely. I also got to try some of the Rabbit Crepe (port wine braised rabbit, blueberry, fennel, arugula + kenny's bleu gouda crepe). Some people might shudder at the idea of eating rabbit. Those people need to grow up. Rabbit is one of the most succulent, delicious meats out there, and in this wonderful flavor combination, in a crepe. This chef is genius. I could have downed two of these things. We finished off the night with the recommended Cloud Cake (vanilla chiffon cake, coconut pastry cream, coconut + whipped cream icing). This thing was de-ca-dent. A nice, thicc sponge, a very coconuty cream, and a whipped icing with lots of coconut pulp in it. So heavenly. Overall, my socks were blown off. After explaining we'd just be there briefly for a drink, we were allowed to sit there, but the interaction felt dismissive. From that point on, the experience felt rushed. We were pushed to order quickly, our menus were taken right away, and the check came almost immediately. It made what should have been a relaxed stop feel uncomfortable and transactional.
