Incredible meal! We decided to get the KC strip despite the $70 price tag. It was definitely the best steak I've had. The Brussels were so delicious with the chili oil and Parmesan. Our server was so kind and patient and explained everything well, and made our special occasion even more special. The only complaint i have (and it's a small one) is that I had a reservation for 7pm and we weren't seated until 7:20pm despite arriving right at our reserved time. For only 2 people on a Thursday. But the wait was worth it after the wonderful meal we had. The ambiance reminds me of an elevated Texas Roadhouse if you can picture that. I have wanted to try Twisted Tree since 2018. My birthday was the other day and my family treated me to lunch here. It was a mixed bag, for sure. The atmosphere is A-OK. I was expecting a slightly more upscale vibe, but this seems like a slightly nicer Walnut Grill or Longhorn Steahouse. It is owned by Syberg's, and you can tell. The service was absolutely horrific. We got sit in the very corner in a casual room, and were ignored, so we asked to move to the nicer dining room. The hostess grunted but finally gave into us. But it still didn't help. We waited 35 minutes for a waitress. 35. Minutes. The only way we got one was flagging down the (very friendly) bartender, who got the manager's attention. Finally, our server Breanna appeared out of nowhere. Apparently she got confused and was supposed to be serving us the entire time. She was friendly, but honestly, we were annoyed. The food was great, if not a bit overpriced. The Crab Rangoon were a notch above traditional Chinese food. They tasted like China King's but with more garlic flavor. The House Salad was very good and we enjoyed the various sauces that were explained to us. The steaks? Not bad but not $47 quality. We ordered 6-oz filet mignons and were still hungry. They were tender but slightly overdone and needed some more seasoning. I was sent home a free slice of Wedding Cake, which I appreciated. It was decent. But overall? We visited Twisted Tree on a Wednesday evening, arriving early (around 5:30 PM). While we were seated immediately, the dining room was completely full by 6:30 PM. Even with a full house, being seated in the middle of the large dining area kept the volume manageable and the experience relaxed. The Standouts * The House Salad (4.5/5): My wife and I agree--this is easily one of the best house salads in St. Louis. The ingredients are incredibly fresh, the dressings are clearly homemade, and those croutons are legendary. If you come here and don't order the salad, you're doing it wrong. * Barrel-Aged Manhattan (4.25/5): This was excellent and very well executed. I was actually surprised to find they used Four Roses as the base. While Four Roses is a solid, standard bourbon, it doesn't typically have the aggressive flavor notes of a high-proof or spicy rye. However, those complex flavors were definitely present here, likely a testament to the quality of their house barrel-finishing process. The Entrées: A Mixed Bag Service was friendly and prompt, and our server was great at navigating our menu questions. However, we found the seafood lacked the same "wow" factor as the starters. * Halibut Special (3.5/5): This was served over a black garlic risotto with asparagus. The risotto was the highlight--rich and perfectly executed--and provided a better flavor profile than the other fish dish. * Sea Bass (3/5): While the portion was generous and the fish was fresh, it was crying out for a sauce or more aggressive seasoning. The accompanying kale and squash were unfortunately undercooked and lacked flavor. Experimental Dessert * Red Velvet Cake Bread Pudding (3/5): We are always up for trying something new, but this didn't quite land for us. I just dinned here for my mother in law's birthday and I was blown away to say the least. The food was more than exemplary, especially the lobster bisque, the steak and the ahi tuna. The service was top notch and our server, (I wish I could remember his name), was fantastic and really made us all feel like we dinning amongst royalty. The ambiance was great with intimate lighting, great music at just the right level and the decor was nice as well. Although a bit pricy, I would love a chance to eat here again as once you taste the food, you'll know instantly, that it's worth every penny your spending. We had a 3:30pm reservation for a Saturday. We planned for a late lunch, early dinner, after a day shopping in the city. Parking wasn't bad and we found a spot on the side of the building. Once inside, we had only a short wait to be seated, even though we were a little early for the reservation. Everyone was very friendly. Given the time of day, it wasn't very busy and the restaurant was much quieter than usual. Our waiter and his assistant (Justin and Peter) were both great! The family style salad and bread is my favorite here. I really enjoy the house French served with it. I think it has a little kick to it that makes it extra delicious. My husband had the balsamic dressing with his salad, and he really enjoyed it. For the main course, I had the 8 ounce filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus. This will be a new tradition for when my coworkers come to town for Department Meetings twice a year. Six of us came last visit and we had seven this time. Meredith is the Hostess with the Mostess! Thanks for helping with our reservation. Loved our little semi enclosed space, it was the perfect size and we felt tucked away. Our server was Justin, and he indicated he was normally shy and had just moved to the front of the house. He did an awesome job and we couldn't tell he was shy. All of us did not arrive at the same time and Justin took care of drink orders as we came in. I already had my eye on a smokey drink, the Smokey 'Biscus; Jalapeno infused Mezcal, Hibiscus, lime juice, and black sea salt. It was very good. For appetizers we shared a large order of the Pear Tree onion rings and the batter dipped lobster bites, served on crispy fries with drawn butter - so good. Both were gone in a flash. The salads came with our meal and are served family style. We got both the garden greens with hot garlic croutons, feta cheese, and Pear Tree Vinaigrette and Madam French Dressing as well as a family size Caesar Salad. For the garden salad they recommend mixing the two salad dressings. I like it because the croutons, cheese, and such are in a separate serving dish. Very tasty. I ordered a White Sangria for the meal, it was ok. I went with a medium rare, 16oz ribeye with a side of grilled. asparagus. When the food arrived, my steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Delicious. The asparagus had pine nuts and butter and was very good. I had enough for leftovers and Justin bagged everything up. Most of my companions ate their full meal as they were flying home the next morning. All declared the meal wonderful. Make reservations! Twisted Tree is one of my favorite restaurants. They have my favorite amaretto sour & delicious food. My husband and I usually share the ribeye steak with a side (or two) and caesar salad. The salad is in itself a delicacy - with the best croutons (ask for extra, trust me). They also have a special Pear Tree salad that many love. Service is always great as well. The ambience is great and it's very clean - this restaurant is a must go. You will need reservations especially for a weekend - and they book up in advance so book early. They took care of us from beginning til the end of our dinner. My friend ordered the steak frites and I ordered the gnocchi and we started off the whole meal with the fried lobster bites. Everything was cooked to perfection and we have to give major kudos to the Caesar salad that accompanied our entrees I think it's one of the best that I have had in a very long time. I absolutely love the feel of the restaurant with its dimmed lighting it made it feel cozy and inviting and much more relaxed not so uptight like so many other casual/fine dining establishments. I don't know if that's an actual term to be used but I guess that's what I would call it because you don't have to be dressed up to dine here but some people choose to but the level of food and service could give some of the finer dining restaurants in the area or run for their money. I had Twisted Tree on my list for awhile specifically for the wedding cake dessert! Ha! I finally made it there and I wasn't blown away for several reasons, a couple are because of me. As a result, I plan to give them another try. Here are my issues. I'm getting over a cold so my taste buds may be off. I had an event two hours after my reservation so I only had an hour and a half to eat which caused my experience to be rushed. Here are my thoughts. I walked in while two hostesses and a male employee appeared to be having a personal conversation. One of the hosts looked at me and just stared for a few seconds as if she had no idea why I was there. She finally said hello and told her I had a reservation for 2 pm. She asked my name and said they will be right me. Then continued her conversation with the other two. I finally get seated. Waitress was nice but she started helping other tables while I was ready to order. We soon discovered my reservation was for two (because you can't make one for one person) so she was waiting on my guest. Had the hostesses been more attentive, we could have cleared that up before I was seated. Food was ok. I couldn't taste any seasoning on the lobster bites. The bacon wrapped shrimp were ok but I wouldn't order them again. The Ceasar salad was flavorless with a little too much dressing for my liking. I ran out of time so didn't get to taste my prime rib melt. The wedding cake was good. I will give them another try when my taste buds are right and I have more time. read more

We stopped by here just kinda for the heck of it because I had been sick and today was the first day I felt better and I was craving a good meal. We did go at lunchtime and were surprised by how packed they were. We were told there was a 40 minute wait so we went to the bar and I ordered a St. Louis sour which was delicious but they absolutely do not skimp on the liquor. It was very strong! I also ordered the Fried lobster bites which were absolutely wonderful. They weren't overly spiced but given the delicate flavor of lobster I did not miss a bit of spice. Though busy the bar area was nice and cozy and we were waited in quickly. It was nowhere near 40 minutes when our table was called so I grabbed my drink and appetizer and headed to the table. I was immediately greeted by a super friendly waiter who ensured I had water and brought me a coke I asked for quickly. He answered all of our questions about specials and left us to decide but came back at an appropriate time to ask if we had decided. We chose to share the Wagyu Strip Steak and a side of loaded mashed potatoes and two add in twisted shrimp. The shrimp had a nice smoky flavor but I did not taste jalapeño at all. They were delicious and I would definitely consider them for my meal on return. Our steak was absolutely blue when I had ordered it medium and when asking for it to be cooked a little longer, was told that is their medium... if that is the case I would order it medium well for sure. However they took our steak and cooked it a bit more and brought our plates back ensuring that we each had the plate taken from us. It was much better and we were definitely asked a few times if it was more to our liking. The steak was delicious. It was served over a small covering of au jus with Bone Marrow butter (my choice out of butters offered). I typically enjoy steak sauce but this one was delicious as it was with the butter and au jus. The star though was the loaded mashed potatoes. They were the best tasting mashed potatoes I have ever eaten and I was extremely happy with my choice of side. I highly recommend the mashed, and would gladly get just an order of potatoes to eat at home with a meal. We did not order dessert as we were indeed stuffed but the choices looked absolutely delicious. I will say that if you go here you need to be prepared to pay more for the quality, but it was definitely quality not just an overpriced steak. They have options in a range of prices and I would go back to get a burger which we saw someone at the bar eating that looked fabulous. The lunch menu is great because it offers an array of burgers and sandwiches as well as a selection from the dinner menu so to spend less you definitely want to go at lunch and indulge in one of their lunch items.... Wakey wakey review: I just discovered Wakey Wakey which uses a portion of Twisted Tree and has its own outside entrance closer to the Holiday Inn entrance. Wow everything was so so good! I had the STL breakfast. The candied bacon was delicious but not too sweet to overpower the bacon. The waffle was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside with a great flavor. The fruit cup was the best I've seen for a side dish. They have a great assortment of herbal teas. Service was outstanding. Food was hot and presentation is their specialty. This was much more than I was expecting for a breakfast spot. It's worth the drive to try it out. It has a nice rustic atmosphere. You quickly forget you're connected to a hotel. Upon waiting, I was given water to start but declined on getting a drink until the rest of my party came, which they arrived shortly after. Once everyone was seated, our server came and got drinks and apps started. We decided to share the plate of beef tenderloin skewers. These babies were perfectly cooked- I'd say medium rare, and were smothered in their sherry peppercorn sauce. After those were finished, we were brought our caesar salad and bread. This has always been a highlight for me as their salad and croutons are some of the best I've ever had! I love that it's shareable, however be warned that you get the choice of the regular salad or caesar and it's for the entire table, so choose wisely! The bread is served in a bag and comes with butter, although I believe there may be other spreads available. Will munching on those treats, we put in our dinner orders and I went with the chicken spiedini. While this was only my third time there, I was surprised to learn they constantly change their menu, and this was definitely a first at seeing the chicken spiedini pasta on the menu. It didn't take long before our food was brought out and I started going to town. I was a bit taken aback as the spiedini didn't look how I expected it to (usually breaded and charbroiled) but nonetheless, still tasted great. As for the pasta, I tasted more Alfredo than anything and little to no white wine or lemon. Regardless, it was fantastic but so filling, I could only eat a few bites. I decided to box what I had and settle out. Overall, the service was stellar and the food satiated my palate. I can't wait to come back and try more drinks/dishes next time. read more

We were sat in the raised booths on the perimeter of the main dining room which is much nicer as last time we were set at a table in the middle of the floor. Another excellent meal and experience. Samantha and Bobby were attentive servers and well trained. They paid attention to small details. The salad plate was ice cold which many places don't have. Mix the two house made dressings on your salad and eat all the house made croutons. The filet is up there with the best in StL. First time having prime rib and it was very good. Not too fatty. Brussels sprouts were perfectly tender but crispy and the sauce was amazing. Wedding cake to top it off! read more

Twisted prices. I'll admit I had no idea this place was going to be so expensive-minimal food for the over the top prices.

10 stars?!! First off their happy hour is a must try! But so is their wedding cake. I am Italian and let me tell you nostalgia for sure! Back to the happy hour, they do seasonal drinks which are delicious. I love the sangria they had. Hands down my favorite from the happy hour menu is the tenderloin skewer or the prime rib sliders, but I haven't had anything I didn't like on their menu. If you are feeling frisky ask about their Bookers smoked old fashion! Now I live in north county and I drive happily for this place! I cannot wait to try their dinner if their happy hour is this amazing! The service is always great, staff is kind and knowledgeable. The place is a beautiful restaurant and lounge. This summer maybe I'll make it out to the patio! read more
