I've been here twice and had great experiences both times. Not sure what's up with the bad reviews! They have a TON of seating - indoor and outdoor. Their outdoor patio is fantastic. You can order from the bar for beers/the counter for food OR you can use the QR code. Both are incredibly fast. Like had our food under 10 minutes which was awesome. Bar has something for everyone - some great beers, cocktails, and wine. Peacemaker was good as always. I always upgrade to fries then regret it because their chips are bomb. The only complaint here is the amount of meat/seafood they put on their sandwiches - it's like bread with a few shrimp. For the price you're paying (almost $20 an entree), I feel like you should be getting a little more meat. But at least it's good. I got a burger this time and the patties were seasoned super well and honestly very, very good. Such a cool spot, especially on a nice day. If your ideal Friday night involves enjoying a beer while supervising someone else's children, this might be your spot. The vibe when we visited was less brewery and more unsupervised playground. Kids were running around barefoot, throwing mulch and rocks, while plenty of parents sat back with drinks in hand. My wife and I, along with several other guests, were repeatedly getting hit with rocks from children running around the property. Maybe this was an unusually busy night, but it was hard to relax or have a conversation between the constant chaos, the trains, and the swarm of kids treating the place like recess. I'd post photos, but every picture is mostly other people's children, and that doesn't seem fair. If you're looking for a quiet drink or an adult atmosphere, you may want to look elsewhere. If you're looking for a place where the kids can run wild while the adults have a drink, you'll probably fit right in. read more

I've visited 4Hands downtown before but this was the first time visiting the 4Hands Peacemaker location in Kirkwood. For Christmas they had a holiday pop up bar: cocktails and claws. The inside was decorated from top to bottom. They had a handful of holiday cocktails to choose from. I ordered the midnight Noel- their twist on a typical old fashioned. I also ordered their shrimp po boy. The shrimp was fried to perfection and the sauce to go in the sandwich was delightful. You can order drinks at the bar or using their QR code. They have a separate QR code for the food from Peacemaker. Overall I enjoyed me experience and look forward to coming back even after the holiday pop up is over. read more

What a perfect spot to stop for a bite or drink. We came here for post-dinner drinks recently and enjoyed the back bar/patio area. For being right by the train tracks, it is still peaceful and enjoyable outside. The cocktails are great (I love a good espresso martini, and they definitely have one). There's plenty of 4Hands beers on tap to choose from. We weren't hungry, but the food menu looked delicious so we will definitely come back for that. read more

I happened to be in Kirkwood and literally stumbled upon this location!! I didn't know that this 4 Hands/ Peacemaker Collab restaurant existed but it was right on time! I ordered the fried green tomatoes, a lobster roll (the one with Mayo), fries, and 2 old fashioned cocktails. Everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING, was delicious! I have no notes. Everything I ate and drank was excellent. The lobster roll had huge chunks of lobster meat and the bread was baked perfectly. For $37 it better had been good. Yes, you heard that right. ONE lobster roll costs $37! To be fair, it is lobster and market price, but it is certainly pricey for casual dining. Still, a great meal nonetheless. Indoor seating with wide open doors. Two bars. One in front and one in back. Lots of beer and drinks. Lobster rolls and peel and eat shrimp are a favorite. Service was great. We have wanted to try out Peacemaker for a number of months, as it's a relatively newer addition to the Downtown Kirkwood area. We finally decided to bite the bullet, despite the abundance of low reviews online. First off, the atmosphere is the strongest variable here. It's more of a shared common space, think food hall but only with one restaurant. They share the dining area and patio with 4 Hands Brewing, a locally owned bar with upscale drink choices. The service was when things started to go downhill. This place is pretty much team-based service, meaning you don't have a specific server. You order at the window, and then a random person checks on you if you're lucky. The food was not great. We started with the Hush Puppies, which were pretty hard. They were overly fried and lacked flavor, but the aioli on the side helped lighten them up a bit. I got a Smoked Brisket Po'Boy, and it was not a good cut of meat. Fatty brisket, but decent toppings and sauce. My Mom, however, got a Burger. You wouldn't think a burger would be so difficult, but apparently it is. When it arrived, she enjoyed her first bite of cooked meat. However, when she bit further into it, the burger was almost fully raw inside. It was red/bloody and tasted like raw meat. I went to bring her burger over to the counter, and the woman told me there wasn't much that could be done. She told me "that's as cooked as it gets, sorry, but I don't know what to tell you". We were pretty shocked at the lack of help or care in their response. I'm giving 2 stars because the manager, Jordan, called us and took the burger off of our bill. However, we won't be back. We came here for a post-soccer celebration and it was easy to push tables together for our large group of people! It's very kid-friendly since there's plenty of trains passing for the kids to look at, and space outside on the patio to run around and climb rocks. We ordered via the QR code on the tables and the food arrived pretty quickly. It can get loud inside, especially since there was a football game showing on TV. The shrimp po boy sandwich was AMAZING with crispy breaded shrimp and soft chewy bread. The clam chowder was just ok--it was kind of too thick/congealed. My kids didn't like the grilled cheese kids' meals because the bread was fried in a butter/oil that they didn't care for, but the chips that came with the meals were crispy and flavorful. Sadly this was just Meh. Service was just runners no actual interaction other than bar tender. Food was not good at all. Menu looked good but even the basic of kids food was over cooked and nearly burnt like the fryer grease hadn't been switched out on a while. Beer selection and cocktail selection is great. Came here with 2 families and 3 kids and it was great for the kids to play outside. I wish they had more heaters working as it did get a bit chilly in February. This place is casual and I really like the atmosphere since it is mostly open air and outside. You seat yourselves and order food and drinks at your table using the website. The minor issue we had with this was we weren't quite sure how to close our beer tab so we had to ask. My husband and I came here on a nice Saturday for an early lunch. We sat inside but they had all the doors open so we got some fresh air. To eat we got the lobster rolls served warm with butter and hush puppies. I recently visited on a Saturday afternoon for a friend's birthday celebration. I had such a great time! We sat in their enclosed patio and pushed a bunch of tables together for our big group. Ordering food and drinks was super easy and convenient with the QR codes. I was impressed by how quickly everything was brought out after ordering. To drink, I tried the Voltron Volume 7, and my partner tried the Incarnation Juiced. I like that they offer two different size options. I'm not a huge seafood fan, so I ordered the seasonal salad, which includes chopped kale, bao croutons, pickled apples & veg, chicken, and roasted green apple vinaigrette. This was my first visit and maybe it's because it's the holiday season and they were busy, but it was a bit chaotic. We sat at the bar since they said the wait for a table would be an hour. At the bar, I saw the QR code to pull up the menu (I still like a physical menu), but it did not occur to me that you also placed your order online. No one mentioned this and it was not stated with the QR code. Boy, did I feel silly waiting on someone to take our order. Once I had that figured out, the food arrived quickly and hot. We ordered our food in courses, which was clunky, but we didn't know if everything would show up all at once. The food was great. Loved the flavor of the bisque and the lobster roll. The crab cakes were so good-minimal filler. My Grinch drink was decent, but it didn't even fill the glass. Throw some ice in there, LOL! We had a fun birthday celebration for a friend at 4 Hands Peacemaker! The space was very spacious and had ample room for our large party. I liked the convenience of ordering from your seat via a QR code. The only difficulty is that you have to order your food and drinks on different tabs via separate QR codes. Since I'm not much of a beer drinker, I ordered a couple of glasses of Unshackled red blend wine that were tasty! I also ordered the Queen Bee cocktail (gin, lemon, and honey) which I would not recommend. It was wayyy too lemony and sour to where I needed to add water to be able to get it down. For food, my friend got an order of steamers for the table. I had never had them before but enjoyed the salty clams! We also ordered fried pickles and or buns. The fried pickles were good, but the breading was a little thick for my liking. The pork buns were okay and could use some bbq sauce as they were slightly dry. I had a really good experience here! I met friends here and was a bit late, they ordered a bottle of wine so I can't speak on the drink ordering experience. I can say that the wine was good :) Apps were already at the table, absolutely loved the pretzels with beer cheese! They were delicious. We ordered food via the QR code on the table, and I got the brisket sandwich. I'm not huge on seafood, so this sounded good! The bread was awesome, and the meat was good. Smoked well! The chips were a bit tough, so if i returned i would look at some other options for sides. The inside is awesome- love the decor and vibe and would love to sit on the patio when its warm. My wife and I stopped by for dinner on Saturday night for the first time. We put our name in for a table for the crabs and cocktails. While we were waiting having a drink. I had a helles brown ale. It was slightly sweet with pecan overtones kind of like a liquid pecan pie. Very good. My wife had the one antler old fashioned. It was creamy, sweet and had whipped cream on top very much a desert drink. We noticed tables open on the other side of the bar and asked about them . We were told that side was open seating so we moved to a open table. Both side of the restaurant was beautiful decorated for Christmas. We were told to order we would have to use the QR code on the table and a food runner would deliver our order. I ordered the fish sandwich and it was awesome. The large fillet was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. This fillet was huge.The breading was amazing and had a great flavor. We shared a clam chowder which was piping hot and delicious. My wife had the lobster roll which she said the lobster was tender and had a great flavor. I had the chips as my side that were cajun seasoned and were quite spicy. Boy were they good. My wife side was French fries. They could have been fried a little longer because they weren't very crispy. But we were so full it was of little concern. My bf and I called in advance to understand how the waitlist worked and they were super nice and said no reservation, first come, first served and they had some long waits just for us to be prepared. We stopped by around 12:55 and snagged the last available table for 2 (bar had seating open too). You order drinks and food from 2 different qr codes but I like how with the bar one, you can open a tab like you are at a standard bar. The drinks and food came out super fast! My fav drink was the frostbite as tasted like a liquid andes. We had a ton of food but the burger was absolutely insane (got one to go) and I thoroughly enjoyed the deviled eggs with caviar. We came by to have a drink while waiting for an event. The layout of the place is a bit odd, with a couple of different entrances and rooms. We came in the back and took seats at the bar. You order drinks from the bar staff, but food from a QR code on the bar. 2 separate bills and neither staff seemed to know much about the others items. Almost like 2 business just sharing the same space. Just weird feeling. We got 3 different beers to try, all listed as 10 ounce on the menu screen above the bar, but got different size pours when they arrived. Clearly a smaller amount of the W/O dark beer than the other 2. Pretzels and cheese dip were good, but everything seemed privy for the way that we had to order, and the lack of follow up from anyone. No "can I get you anything else"? "Did you like those drinks?" Nothing. We could have picked up beer at a local store and hit a pretzel place for the same stuff and saved a bunch of money eh, while having the same experience. Disappointing, as they could be a great spot to enjoy with a little focus on the customer experience. Too bad, since we live in walking distance! Saturday visit around 2p and absolutely luved the outdoor covered patio area! Equipped with different size tables, can easily accommodate groups. The outside is 1st Come 1st Serve Open seating, so just grab an open table. Can order both your drinks and food directly from the table on the QR codes and they bring it out. If you prefer to, you can also head up the bar and order from there. Went with an Old Fashioned from their menu and it tasted great, well balanced and not too sweet. Food order, fried pickles and shrimp poboy with fries. Didn't care for the pickles. They use a sweet pickle vs dill and the breading is a tad too thick. I do like the dill sauce it comes with and dipped the fries in. Shrimp poboy was great! Nice sized shrimp and seasoned well. The bread was super soft and both the remoulade sauce and dill sauce tasted good on it. In terms of a spring/summer patio option, this is it! read more

This is a nice casual place. They have open air inside seating and a great outdoor area with picnic tables. You order drinks from your table off a QR code which they deliver and you order food from an order window off to the side. They give you a pager and you go back up to get your food when it goes off. They had live music the Sunday we were there which was a nice touch. The food was pricey but delicious. This place might not be for everyone, but it's definitely a hit for us! Our number one spot in Kirkwood, we LOVE it here. An amazing place to go with kids without the expectation for them to sit still in their seats. We love going and seeing familiar faces. We have not had one less than great experience with the staff - they are all kind and helpful - willing to go above and beyond to serve. Love that we can go with a couple families and always manage to find a spot. We love seafood, but their burger is delicious as well. As are their kids chicken fingers! and fries! YUM. I appreciate the ordering system, QR code or in person at the window/bar makes it even more convenient. read more

The service was excellent, and the food was delicious! It was a bit pricey, but overall, it was a great experience. We visited on Mardi Gras, so it was packed and they had a live band. They offered a crawfish boil special alongside their regular menu. Despite the crowd, the service was outstanding and friendly! The food was fresh and hot, with the shrimp on the po'boy being crunchy and full of flavor (excellent rémoulade sauce). The burger was massive, with a perfect sear from the flat top. First time at 4 hands peacemaker and it was definitely enjoyable. I do not frequent breweries, but the vibes are always great. We sat outside on their patio which is super nice. However, it does have 1 major pitfall: every 10-15 minutes a train comes by and is LOUD, lol. So loud you can hear the folks at your table. The spot is perfect for a double date. We shared some hushpuppies, corndog, and pretzels. The beer cheese is great. The winner of the night is the tarragon aioli served along side the hushpuppies. Absolutely amazing. Bright, a bit of citrus, and still acidic to add some moisture to the hushpuppies. Superb. So, I accidentally ordered a Maine Lobster roll. I meant to get a Connecticut Roll, but was not thinking. In any case, as someone who does not like cold, mayo lobster rolls this thing was great. The roll is superb. Warm, buttery, and just a bit flaky. They also give a generous serving of lobster. The chips are solid. Old bay seasoned and crispy. I was pretty excited about this spot opening right in the heart of Kirkwood! Thankfully, the weather was exceptional when we went! The place was packed, but we got lucky and found seats inside. I know it was opening week, so for the most part, I can understand if the food comes out late. My friend never got her food, so we asked if it was still coming. It would've been fine if she was honest that the ticket got lost or the food was given to someone else, by accident. Instead, she blamed my friend for ordering her food separately. It doesn't make sense because all 4 of us ordered separately with the QR code, and we all got our food. My friend also ordered her food before I did, too. Isn't the convenience of having a QR Code to be able to order individually without worrying about splitting one check? Anyway, ordering drinks is inconvenient because you have to order the drinks at the bar, which may take a while when the place is packed. I feel the bartender did the best he could! I was so happy when I heard this place opened and super close to me! Been here a couple of times. The firs time, I took my husband as we both love the crab and lobster rolls from the Soulard Peacemaker but don't always want to drive the 20 minutes to get there. And he also loves 4 hands beer. A few things to note: 1. Ordering is done via a QR code. There are separate QR codes for 4 Hands and Peacemaker. You can leave your tab open though for more drinks. They do deliver your food and drinks to your table. I'm not sure if this applies to the patio seating. 2. Ordering from your table only applies to the tables inside the covered area, not the patio seating. Patio seating has a different ways of ordering but I've only sat "inside." 3. The place gets busy, they have live bands so assess appropriately where you would want to sit. 4. Located next to the train tracks so it tends to be loud when a train is passing. 5. Acoustic, in general is just okay or maybe I'm just old... Other than that, I've enjoyed my experiences here. The food is good (as usual for Peacemaker lobster or crab rolls), the drinks came fairly quickly and it is a nice hangout. Service is pretty good as well. The people delivering the food and drinks have been friendly and nice. No crabbiness were observed. I love that they carry some wines as well since I am not a beer person. I had an excellent time at 4 Hands Peacemaker last week! It was my birthday celebration and I had a bunch of friends meet me here for some drinks and food. They do not allow reservations, but when we arrived, we were able to find plenty of table space on their closed in patio. We asked the servers/bartenders if we could move tables around to make room for the group, and they were fine with us doing that. Ordering was fine. They had 1 QR code to scan for food and another for drinks. While I like the idea of this, it's hard to be social while also staring at the phone trying to place an order, but we made it work. Drinks came out so quickly and you can keep your tab open which was nice. I know we were all ordering lots of drinks and food, but the staff was doing a great job keeping up with the orders. I am from New England originally, so I had to try the steamers. While they were good, they were def missing the warm butter to dip them in. I should have asked for some, but I did not want to be a bother. But I do think my recommendation would be to serve some warm butter on the side of steamers for dipping. The lobster rolls were also good. My friend had never had one before, so I ordered both and we shared so that she could try them. Of course, both rolls were delish and I would 100% order them again. When our group was paying tabs and getting ready to leave, we helped move tables back to their spots and the staff came over to help, but I felt like we needed to move them since we were the ones who moved them in the first place. Overall, this is a great spot for drinks and food! I loved their atmosphere and cannot wait to visit again soon. I also know that this will be the best location to visit in the spring and summer to sit on the patio and hang out with friends. Drinks came out super quick (it was not too busy) and there is plenty to choose from. At our table we had mussels, lobster rolls and fish sandwich, but I can't speak for the later because I didn't try it but who ordered looked happy.
