We went to Walnut Grill this Easter for their brunch. We'd never been, but Bristol and Holiday Inn was sold out, so we opted for WG. Everything went well! The food was decent, there were a good amount of options. I wish the food was hotter, everything was warm at best. Certain things like the Mushroom Chicken and Mashed Potatoes tasted slightly old, but the Prime Rib was shaved in front of me and was very fresh and tender. Plus, the salads were not bad and the Lobster Bisque was very hot. A bit of a toss-up food wise, but service was great. Catrice was our server/bartender and she was great. Overall, definitely overpriced and food could have been hotter, but everything was tasty and Catrice took good care of us. The perfect date night dinner spot. The entrees range between $15 for a sandwich to $44 for the filet. The service was fast and friendly. My wife and I decided to just do rolls and pass on the appetizer even though they do have e a lot of choices that all look delicious. For dinner I had the Bellini Straw-Toni to drink and the Farfalle Chicken Pasta with the Chef Caesar salad as a side. My wife had a glass of the Pinot Noir to drink and the 6oz Filet Mignon with the Loaded Baked Potato as a side and she said they both were also delicious. They take all major credit cards. We went for Easter brunch. It was just ok. The variety was fine for breakfast, but they were missing biscuits and gravy which is a staple at brunches usually. I liked that they had a few order from the kitchen items, however, the omelets were not customizable. No mushrooms either. I missed an omelet station. The eggs Benedict came out looking delicious, however, the hollandaise sauce had an odd flavor. It seemed like someone put way too much Dijon mustard in it. The lunch offers were lacking too. No hot pasta, but a few different pasta salads which I found odd. The carved prime rib, mashed potatoes, and walnut salad were my favorite items. For almost 40.00 a person I would have liked better options and have had better variety at other places. I'm not saying we wouldn't go back, but it wouldn't be a first choice. Don't order the "prime rib" French dip! It was pathetic. I would estimate that it had only 3 ounces of meat on it. And the meat was such bad quality. Almost like it was little bits of meat, not slices. I wish I had taken a photo. And the au jus was awful. Tasted like it was made from a packet one might find at a grocery store, and super salty. We came for happy hour and sat on the patio. The patio is great. Well ventilated and it was cool on a warmer day. Which is very nice. We had a few appetizers. The potstickers and deviled eggs. The potstickers stole the show. They were perfectly cooked with a great dipping sauce. The deviled eggs were good. But just a little bland in my opinion. This is a great happy hour spot but a good place for brunch as well. I've been here many times but it's great for happy hour! I went with a friend and we enjoyed ourselves. Our server was so nice and helpful. We both had wine and appetizers at half off. I had the Brussels sprouts which were delicious and the pot stickers, my friend had the sliders. Nice open space and is a good gathering space. I lost track of taking pics because we were chatting. Sorry about that! I do want to recognize something about the name, Walnut Grill. It really does have a nice ring to it, and I suppose the same could be said for the menu as well. Fairly priced food, creative recipes, and the logo is also chic and simple. It's a quiet, simple place for eating out. It's got everything a normal restaurant would-salads, wraps, burgers, pizzas, actually-isn't that a point of a grill? Nevermind, good nonethenless. Our server was a sweetheart. This place is possibly understaffed from what I could tell, but she was running and dashing everywhere like mad. She works so hard and still puts on a smile, a lovely staff member. It's too bad I never got her name. Food itself was average in my opinion. It depends what you order, actually. I'd recommend things on the pasta options, and the appetizers are also filling. Portions are big. Be prepared to share. Dessert made up for the basic food, and the portion for dessert was just right. It's exactly what I look for in a restaurant! Although being nothing but in the middle, I can consider that a good thing, please come with friends though. Seating is varied and you will also never finish anything by yourself! This place is a joke. It was not busy and we sat right beside the bar but somehow the bartender/server still couldn't keep up with our drinks. Food was cold. Server never asked about it and took the plate of full food without asking why. When i asked to talk to the manager they never came. Asked again and then finally admitted gm was on the line and wouldnt come out and agm was at the store. This is a crazy way to run a business. Manager brought out our entrees 30 seconds after our salads arrived. I had not had time to unroll my silverware and pour my dressing on. I understand this happens sometimes. The problem was the manager thought that this was normal or ok. He then mentioned he'd go ahead and put the entrees back in the "window" until we were done with our salads. Not the way a food and beverage restaurant manager should handle this situation. Hopefully training of both the food industry and customer service is in his future. read more

Wake up, gluten intolerant besties!! New fav gluten friendly restaurant just dropped! We passed by Walnut Grill multiple times a week and finally decided to eat here for a celebratory dinner. I was SO ecstatic to see an entire portion of their online menu dedicated to sharing specifically what is considered gluten friendly. While it is much smaller than the rest of the menu, there is more than just a salad that you can eat here. The food was delicious, and the drinks were a nice size for the price. My only complaint is that there were many servers (although we did go on a Wednesday night) and the server we did have was slow and did not check back often, so we didn't get any water refills, much less have an opportunity to buy a second drink. Walnut Grille has great service and food at reasonable prices. We have been to Walnut Grille twice and both were good experiences. First we went for their Thanksgiving buffet. They had a wide selection of all the traditional foods: ham, turkey, a beef carving station, shrimp cocktail, green beans, mash potties, multiple salads and more- along with a yummy selection of desserts. Second, we went just for dinner both husband and I order filet mignon . Mine medium and his med/ rare . Both cooked to our liking. Sides we ordered: salads, pot pie soup, sweet potato fries. All good! The manager even stopped by our table to check on us and thank us for coming in! When I went to the restroom I over heard the manager telling an employee that they were doing a good job and thanking them for all their hard work! We had to seat ourselves no one was around. After about 8 minutes another customer said they needed to be waited on. Only 6 customers in the whole restaurant. One manager a 5 workers. All were not visible. Finally our waitress came We ordered 2 Margaritas and 2 appetizers. After 30 minutes our drinks were sitting at the bar the whole time. Our food and Margaritas came with the food. She said we can have more chips if we want. We asked if we could have more chips. We reminded her twice and pointed we need our chips. We asked if we could have extra spinach dip for free because of the wait. And she said ok. We got them 45 minutes later and burnt. When we got the bill we we charged for the dip. She said I never said it was free. The manager came out and we told him about the poor service and wait and refused to give us our $6 dollars back. We will never go back again. As with many other eateries, this place is a mixed bag. First, the good: - The menu is extensive and the food quality is pretty good. - Outdoor dining is really nice. It is in a shaded area far enough from Lindbergh so that road noise is not intrusive. - A spacious, free lot provides ample parking. - The wait staff is courteous, friendly, and efficient. - The restaurant decor is tasteful and well-done, and includes some contemporary art. Now, the not-so-good: - Indoor dining is a tad cramped. - This is definitely a "child friendly" environment, perhaps a smidge too friendly. You enjoy watching someone's offspring throw cookies on the floor, don't you? - The food portions seem to have been downsized, even as the price has gone in the other direction. My sister and I had lunch. Neither had anything to drink other than water, and we did not order appetizers or desserts. Nonetheless, the bill (counting a tip) came to almost $70. Neither you nor your wallet will come away feeling stuffed. Bottom line -- Nice for an infrequent business lunch or a Sunday brunch.
