Absolutely gorgeous interior, the white fish (cod) was INSANE. Flaky, flavorful and fresh. Service was impeccable, and the bread was hot and fluffy. I have zero complaints and it was definitely everything I expected from a place that was so hard to get a reservation for! The hype is worth it.

Forever my favorite and the best place to spend a birthday! We were lucky to snag a reservation far in advance, and it is so worth the wait! Liz was our sever and was absolutely wonderful. We split an Italian salad, salsiccia pizza, and bolognese. All were fantastic and added to the elevation of the evening. The wine selection was great, and I was also brought out a birthday dessert. I believe it was the panna cotta. Will always love returning!

I love Louie! We had a reservation, almost a must! Jordan was our server; he has been around forever and is the best. Since I had a driver I ordered a drink, I got the El Tigre, I really enjoyed it. Mezcal, blood orange, lime, angostura. If you are at Louie, you must get the brussels sprouts! They are perfectly seasoned with lemon and caper, I get them without pecorino and I love them. The cauliflower Fritto with Dill Aioli is perfect to share, its a little heavy to eat all on your own. The Dill Aioli is just the right tang! I almost always get the fish special and tonight was no different! It was cod with cripy shallots on a bed of squash, so good! If I don't get the fish special I now I can't go wrong with the Roast Chicken or the Grilled Pork Chop, Service fantastic, food superb, drinks delicious. You can't go wrong with Louie!

There is nothing I can share in this review that hasn't been said thousands of times over. Alas, I will still share: Louie is THAT place. The hype is real. Execution is real. Service is second to none. I went solo on a friday night mid rush and they opened up an extra spot on the bar for me (i am not sure if they do this often, or they just were very generous). In any case, I had a front row seat to the pizza. Absolute masterclass. A delicate art behind the hands of a young man taking no shortcuts. Prosciutto, and pappardelle. Those were my dishes. Those were THE dishes. The prosciutto absolutely melted in your mouth with the salt of the Parmesan sending a perfectly salty funk. The pappardelle was insane. Pasta was cooked to perfection behind a rich, hearty bolognese. Not too heavy, but enough weight to keep you feeling full and satiated. The service was incredible. Genuine hospitality behind a perfectly paced meal. The ultimate date night spot. This place is sexy, moody, alive. None of my words are original, as everyone knows Louie is upper echelon. So, at the very least i hope they continue to guide those who have never been. Best of luck getting a res, my recommendation is no matter the time book it and love it

Louie is hands down one of my favorite date night spots in St. Louis. The food is consistently incredible, the service is attentive, and the ambiance is unmatched. Their chicken and steak are absolutely to die for, still thinking about that steak...the cocktails and sides never disappoint either (broccolini is a must). It's the kind of place that feels elevated while still being comfortable and inviting. Easily one of those restaurants you keep coming back to because its just that good.

This just couldn't wait! Finally landed a reservation to experience all the rave and guess what?! Drum roll pease.... Louie indeed knocked my socks off'! From start to finish I thoroughly enjoyed my time. Danny was an award winning host; offered a warm greeting and kindly accommodated a slight seating modification at my request. Liz, LIZ. Lizzzzzzz!!!!! Was an absolutely amazing server. Just let me say; service has severely declined these days and sadly I've gotten somewhat complacent with that. However, Liz turned my frown upside down (literally). Such a pleasant personality, recommendations were on point and overall service throughout our dining experience was superb. I'm very particular about my Manhattan, Liz relayed the proportions to the bartender who whipped up the perfect concoction. Highly recommend the octopus of that's your thing. The sweet potosi ravioli was delicious. Oh, can't forget the Brussels....so flavorful with just the right amount of char. Last but not least, the dining room is lovely. Offering an intimate low lighting ambiance it enough to still lay eyes on tour dining companion(s) while conversing. Too a large space but the tables are spread a part nicely enough for privacy. There's also outdoor seating (heated of course) should you wish to take in the De Mun evening scene. In summation, Louie understood the assignment. I'll be returning asap. ~Christy

Our cozy spot at the bar provided excellent service and a wonderful spot to soak up the warm vibe. I don't believe we could have gone wrong with anything on the menu. And. Wow. The burrata app was outstanding. End the meal with the Ice cream sandwich - the crunch is delightful.

I really enjoy the appetizers here and the sweet potato ravioli which is a seasonal special. I haven't tried much else on the menu but I am looking forward to. This is a really great restaurant but reservations must be made far in advance so plan ahead! It's an elevated dining experience with a nice cozy but classy vibe.

Super great place. Biggest stand out was our amazing waitress who was well versed on the menu and fun to talk to and quick with her service. All the staff we interacted with were great. We sat outside, we had a reservation for 8:30 but showed up around 8 and they were able to seat us pretty quick on the patio. The cocktail menu had a great selection. I got both a paper plane and a gimlet, both were delicious and I would come back for drinks in a heartbeat! We got the octopus as a starter and that was the let down of the night. I've never had octopus before but my friend has and said this wasn't very good compared to other octopus dishes they've had. Really not that bad though just not as great as we thought it might be. For dinner I got a seasonal ravioli and my friend got a different pasta dish. Both were good. Both the octopus and the pasta dish my friend got were big servings, the seasonal ravioli wasn't a large helping but it was plenty to fill me up. The patio was nice and I'd love to sit inside in the future because it looks great from all the pictures I've seen, but seemed a little loud when we stepped inside to talk to the hostess.

Get.The.Chicken. Been into a Louie a couple of times now and have had great experiences. Service has been prompt, friendly, and super knowledgeable on the menu. Food-wise, don't think you can go wrong...unless you don't order the chicken Might very well be the best chicken I've ever had! Other items that we tried that were amazing were the mussels, prosciutto, and the ice cream sandwich.

Espresso and espresso martini

WOW. One of the best meals I've had in St. Louis. The pasta was SO fresh I was in love. Our broccolini pizza was yummy and unique. The cocktails were divine. I had a paper plane and an espresso martini. This was the BEST espresso martini I've ever had!!!!! Our server was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and the drinks and so very friendly. The inside is dark and moody and romantic. I'd very much like to go back and sit on the patio though just to switch it up. Reservations are a MUST. They open reservations on the first of the month. We booked that day and still the earliest we could get in was 9 pm. WORTH IT!!!!!

Roman Gnocco
tammy s.

I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. The atmosphere was great, a little loud but very nice. Our food was fantastic. I had the Roman Gnocco and my husband had the halibut special. The gnocco was so good that I took home the little bit I had left and couldn't wait to eat it today. Please keep this as a staple dish. The staff was top notch! We inadvertently booked a reservation for bar seating. When the bartender, Coco realized it was our anniversary and we'd prefer more intimate seating she offered and moved us to a cute little table with a champagne toast. Loulou took over from there and was the best. She was so knowledgeable about the menu and suggested the perfect pairings of cocktails and dessert. Will definitely be back and will recommend to friends.

I would say yes, it's got upscale food and service but a fairly casual feel. I wore jeans and a nice sweater.

Yes, but there is a corkage fee of $30.

Do they take walk ins either for the bar or the restaurant?

They do but it is quite busy so I'd recommend getting a reservation if able!

The only thing that tricked us was the Toasted Ravioli. It has meat in it, and my wife is vegetarian. The Arancini was terrific and the table bread was also quite tasty. My wife had the Manicotti and I had the Chicken Lemonata. So great. The bottle of the house Gitto's Red was the perfect wine as well. Although claiming to have invented the toasted ravs, really did not enjoy them. Caprese salad was good for this time of year- early June. Side of red pasta helped but was too sweet.

The Best Dining Experience We've Had in St. Louis - Hands Down…read moreMy husband and I wanted to give our dear friends who are leaving St. Louis one last unforgettable meal from their bucket list, so I immediately recommended Peno. I used to be a regular at Rosé with the same talented Chef Pepe, and his food is truly to die for. We walked in on a beautiful day and were lucky to snag a spot in their small parking lot (parking in the area isn't the easiest, but it's worth it). Our server, Harry, made the evening even better right from the start. He had such a warm, calm, professional presence--the kind that's rare these days. We instantly remembered his name thanks to a fun Harry Potter / Harry and the Hendersons reference, and he handled everything with effortless skill. When our friends had parking trouble, Harry quickly offered helpful suggestions. Then, when it was time to order, he elevated our meal in the best way possible. My husband and I got our longtime favorite--the Roberto pizza from Rosé days--and Harry suggested adding sausage and peppers. That small tweak took something we already loved and made it 1000% better. Absolute perfection. Our friend ordered the spaghetti (her all-time favorite comfort meal), and after taking Harry's thoughtful recommendation, she declared it the best spaghetti she's ever had in her life. We finished with the cheesecake. I'm extremely picky about cheesecake, but this one did not disappoint--it was creamy, rich, and flawless. This was one of those legendary meals you remember forever. The kind where you leave thinking you could die happy. Chef Pepe's food, paired with Harry's outstanding service, made it a perfect night. If you're in St. Louis, do yourself a favor and go to Peno. You won't regret it. Thank you, Harry and team--you helped create a truly special send-off for our friends!

My husband had the gluten free pasta because it is also vegan, and no lie and true to form, it was delightful and light! The tomato sauce is Perfection: not too acidic, not too sweet, letting the grand yet humble tomato shine. I chose the puttanesca, one of my favorite traditional Italian pastas. I would order this again!! Had plenty for lunch the next day. Not to be left out: the toasted ravs and cannoli. I've had a few T-ravs since moving to StL, and these are excellent. The tomato sauce for dipping, once again, is a real treat. The cannolis? Precious, flaky, and dreamy. I ate one at our table and took the second bad boy home. FIRE.

While traveling through Missouri, my wife and I were looking for a place to have dinner. I searched…read moreYelp and came across Anthonino's. I also remembered seeing it featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, so we figured it had to be worth a try. When we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but noticed a few open seats at the bar and asked if we could sit there instead. The two bartenders welcomed us right away and told us they would take good care of us throughout the evening. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I started with an Old Fashioned. For an appetizer, we ordered the Toasted Ravioli ($14), which is handmade in-house and filled with ground beef, ricotta, and pecorino romano cheese, served with marinara sauce. It's one of the dishes featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. For dinner, my wife ordered the Chicken Marsala ($23), and I went with the Bolognese ($17), made with veal, pork, red wine gravy, cresta di gallo pasta, stracciatella, and Calabrian chili oil. The toasted ravioli arrived looking great. I tried one without the sauce first. The fresh pasta didn't fry up quite the way I expected. It was more flaky than crispy, and I was hoping for a little more crunch. The filling was decent but could have used a bit more seasoning and flavor. The marinara sauce also had a bitterness to it that wasn't my favorite. When our entrées arrived, both dishes looked and smelled wonderful. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't quite live up to the presentation. My wife's Chicken Marsala had good flavor overall, but the side pasta was very gummy, and the sauce again had a bitter note that seemed to overpower the dish. My Bolognese was the biggest disappointment of the evening. When I think of Bolognese or a rich meat ragù, I usually expect a wider pasta such as pappardelle. The cresta di gallo pasta wasn't my favorite choice for the dish, and it also had a gummy texture. The sauce itself suffered from the same bitterness that we noticed throughout the meal. Looking back, I probably should have ordered the Carbonara once I realized the Bolognese wasn't being served with the type of pasta I was hoping for. Overall, the meal was okay, but it didn't quite meet the expectations we had after seeing the restaurant featured on television and reading the reviews. The service was excellent, and the bartenders did a fantastic job taking care of us. While this visit was a bit disappointing, there were plenty of other dishes on the menu that looked great, and I would be willing to give Anthonino's another try and order something different.
