Came in for take out after a nice beach day for some filling vegetarian food and Tula Kitchen was the fix! Surprisingly busy on a Tuesday evening which I did not mind at all. Just wanted to update on how Tula's is going during covid19. We ordered curbside (they have delivery too). We ordered our favorite chicken bowls and the chicken kabob dinner. As always it was outstanding. Honestly, the best meal I have had during this time. I called in my order at 4:05. They asked what kind of car I had. They had me pay/tip with my CC. I pulled up at the time they told me. I waited about 10 minutes and the owner came out with my food. There was no contact. It is a very safe system. And, the food was wrapped up perfectly. Chicken dishes for the meat eaters, fish for the pescatarians, tofu and seitan for the vegans- and anything else in between! I've been here sooo many times and I love it more each time. They have def been one of those places that's getting better with time. I remember when they first opened and they were very inconsistent but I did still support and now it's one of my go-to's! They have an excellent menu! You can do really well here even if you're with your annoyingly picky eater friend. I went here for a bridal shower. They have a private back room which was great. It was on the smaller side but it worked for the size of the party. They had a great brunch spread on each table so you didn't have to get up and serve yourself. They kept the mimosas coming the entire time. Staff was friendly and constantly around. Again after basically eating quite a bit of appetizers I didn't want my dinner. I had a few bites and couldn't wait for lunch the next day. They also have set aside the dining room which has an eclectic appearance with bleeding red walls. We had reservations which I recommend since it was busy for a Friday evening. Our hostess seated us on time and our lovely waitress was at our table taking our drink orders within seconds. The thirty minutes later, we found our waitress and addressed the question of our drink orders. The manager came by and was apologetic for the delay. So as promised I made a return and was not disappointed. This time we got to sit in the part of the restaurant where the garage doors open. Even though it is now fall, we have had some great warn weather so this was perfect! To start we ordered the quinoa stuffed avocado which was good. Tula Kitchen was an unexpected surprise. My supervisors took us lowly interns out for lunch today. One of us interns is a vegan, and the supervisors wanted to make sure she had options other than salad. The interior is small, but designed to maximize capacity. As a result, parties larger than 4 may have some difficulty getting a table during peak hours. We were a group of 5 today and it took about twenty minutes to get a table for lunch. The menu had several vegan options. My vegan friend was beyond happy with the menu. Tula serves breakfast until 3 PM, so my friend had vegan eggs with vegan cheese and vegan meat. It came with a side of whole wheat toast and potatoes. I know the "eggs" were tofu; I'm not sure what the "cheese" and "meat" were but my friend was pleased with her meal and ate everything. Two in our fivesome ordered the chicken quesadillas. They were served on a whole wheat tortilla with cheese and a side of sour cream. The big surprise was that there was no grease stain anywhere to be found. Healthy quesadillas that looked yummy and were consumed in full? Sign me up. One of us got the tuna pokay bowl. I don't know anything about this food trend, but she finished the bowl in full so I guess that was good. Me? I got the grilled chicken sandwich. It came with a few strips of bacon and warm gooey cheese on a whole wheat bun and side of crisp... veggies. That's right, no French fries were even available! Tula, as it says on the menu, is Sanskrit for "balance," and appropriately so. The portions are just large enough to feel satisfied without the sluggish food coma that follows after. The meals, as far as I saw, are just the right amount of guilty indulgence without being excessively unhealthy. Even though I had cheese and bacon on my sandwich, I still felt like I had eaten clean. The two supervisors paid 50 dollars each for our meals. So 5 meals came to about a hundred dollars after tax & tip. Not a bad deal at all for healthy food.
