Tula Kitchen was an unexpected surprise. My supervisors took us lowly interns out for lunch today. One of us interns is a vegan, and the supervisors wanted to make sure she had options other than salad. The interior is small, but designed to maximize capacity. As a result, parties larger than 4 may have some difficulty getting a table during peak hours. We were a group of 5 today and it took about twenty minutes to get a table for lunch. The menu had several vegan options. My vegan friend was beyond happy with the menu. Tula serves breakfast until 3 PM, so my friend had vegan eggs with vegan cheese and vegan meat. It came with a side of whole wheat toast and potatoes. I know the "eggs" were tofu; I'm not sure what the "cheese" and "meat" were but my friend was pleased with her meal and ate everything. Two in our fivesome ordered the chicken quesadillas. They were served on a whole wheat tortilla with cheese and a side of sour cream. The big surprise was that there was no grease stain anywhere to be found. Healthy quesadillas that looked yummy and were consumed in full? Sign me up. One of us got the tuna pokay bowl. I don't know anything about this food trend, but she finished the bowl in full so I guess that was good. Me? I got the grilled chicken sandwich. It came with a few strips of bacon and warm gooey cheese on a whole wheat bun and side of crisp... veggies. That's right, no French fries were even available! Tula, as it says on the menu, is Sanskrit for "balance," and appropriately so. The portions are just large enough to feel satisfied without the sluggish food coma that follows after. The meals, as far as I saw, are just the right amount of guilty indulgence without being excessively unhealthy. Even though I had cheese and bacon on my sandwich, I still felt like I had eaten clean. The two supervisors paid 50 dollars each for our meals. So 5 meals came to about a hundred dollars after tax & tip. Not a bad deal at all for healthy food. I wish I had been able to take pictures, but I didn't want to whip out my iPhone and take pictures at a work-related lunch. I'd like to come back, so maybe next time! read more

My wife and I used to stop in for lunch once a month or so. Food is excellent and different from anything else in the area. Sadly, since the pandemic, they stopped serving lunch most days, and it seems they will not be restarting, so we hadn't been back in a long time. Had a rare chance to stop in for dinner last night, and the food was still great. Lunchtime was always bustling there, I wonder why they stopped? read more

Places like Tula deserve all the love they get. They go above and beyond for customers. Thank you guys for making my mom's birthday extra special. Everyone in our party agreed: Tula is the best and has the best chocolate cake. We will be back! I'll start by saying that I had low expectations. It's a vegan friendly restaurant, and I love my meat and cheese. We ordered the dip mix which was delicious. For dinner, I ordered the Veggie Moussaka. As someone who is Italian and Greek, I'm picky about sauce and Greek specialties. Both were outrageously delicious. I didn't miss the meat at all. The flavors mixed together to create an incredible punch of flavors. I really didn't have room for dessert, but the chocolate cake sounded good. Oh my goodness! It is probably one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had. read more

Let's start from when you walk in - the ambiance is amazing. It's a very laid back feel. It reminded me very much of a Victorian vibe. The coffee came out in a French press which right off the bat gave me a good feeling about what I was about to eat. I will say when I first saw the prices I was a bit overwhelmed, but let me tell you ... when that food came out I FELL IN LOVE - from the presentation, to the amazing options for food. If you're a fan of vegan food, gluten-free food, heck just GOOD FOOD (I love any food), I will recommend this spot in Bay Shore anytime. The staff was absolutely amazingly friendly. I will say, I got the a breakfast platter. O M G !!!! There was such a freshness that went across the platter - especially in their hash - I could probably just eat that for days. read more

Great atmosphere and wine and food options are for all types. Always have had a great experience.

BEST VEGAN RESTAURANT ON LONG ISLAND! I was most recently here for brunch (they do weekday brunch!), however I've been here for dinner a few times as well, and I've never had a bad meal. The coffee comes served in a French press, and the mimosas are fabulous. I honestly wanted to try everything on the menu, but I finally settled on the vegan omelet, and it was hands down one of the best omelets I've ever had! They also have many non-vegan options available. The place has a classy Victorian vibe, and staff is super friendly and attentive. Anyone who is vegan, has food allergies, or is just looking for a great meal, Tula Kitchen is the place for you!! read more

Excellent food, drinks and service! Will definitely return. The tuna was absolutely delicious!

This restaurant has an elevated hipster chic vibe with delicious health food. Everything on the menu is natural with an emphasis on vegetables and superfoods. A definite go-to spot for vegetarians/vegans or anyone who is health conscious! The staff is also warm and friendly and Roman is an amazing waitor. Go now!!! read more

A popular restaurant in Bay Shore, Long Island serving health choices and vegetarian/ vegan dishes. Outdoor dining as well as indoor. Alfresco dining was be a bit noisy with the traffic on the weekend evening but a welcomed experience since the COVID quarantine. We ordered the Korean bbq burger with roasted potatoes and the almond crusted chicken over Caesar salad. Both dishes were delicious especially the Korean bbq turkey burger. The turkey burger was not 100% meat. I was pleasantly surprised with a well seasoned turkey and bean (I guess?) patty. Topped with a Korean slaw and pickled onions on a brioche bun was the perfect combination. For dessert, we ordered their signature earth moving dream bar. The bar was made of shortbread, praline and coconut which was moist and not too sweet. A side of whipped cream made it the perfect combination to end a meal. Service was fantastic; very friendly and attentive. Definitely will come back to try other dishes. read more

Highly recommend Tula Kitchen in Bay Shore! Great service and beautiful serene atmosphere. Went with a group of friends and all of us had an amazing meal from appetizers to dessert! I was impressed with their selection of vegan/ vegetarian options! Normally I'm lucky if there is one option in the menu. Also, no fake meats but plenty of healthy and mostly organic options! Best meal I've had in a long time!!!! Will definitely be going back. read more

Place was super!!!! Really good drinks and apps. I had the lentil loaf which was really good. I love the the tempeh Rubin however.

I always have a great experience and wonderful meal every time I come here!! The food, service and atmosphere are consistently fantastic. I especially appreciate how amazingly fresh the food always tastes and the fact that they keep it simultaneously healthy and delicious by not making anything fried, burned and oily, like many other restaurants. This is the only restaurant in the area that I trust for a tasty, fresh, healthy, plant-based, gluten-free vegan meal and it has easily become my favorite restaurant on Long Island! I recently had the sweet potato parsnip soup, which was great; the spices made it taste just like the holidays! The potato pea soup is fantastic as well!! I also had the lentil loaf, which was absolutely delicious and came with a nice cauliflower mash and salad. I also love the quinoa-stuffed acorn squash, as well as the baba ganoush which is phenomenal, especially with the cooked veggies!! My go-to for brunch is still the quinoa bowl. The avocado herb dressing is just soooo good and the sweet potatoes are perfect! I have loved everything I've eaten here!! The chef is super talented! I should also mention that the wait staff has always been kind, knowledgeable and helpful. My mother was very impressed with her lentil loaf and baba ganoush, the last time came, and loves the Asian noodle salad as well. We can't wait to come again!! :) read more

Difficult for me as I don't eat meat or fish and everything I had was delicious. The wait staff is friendly and professional.

Beautiful place with a gothic chic feel. Drinks were out of this world . Tried the coconut cloud & Manmosa both were perfect! Food was here n there. Good eggs , fresh fruit crispy turkey bacon but dry French toast and undercooked potatoes. Pancakes were crispy and fluffy, just amazing. Service was casual . I'll be back read more

Great little spot in Bayshore. We were visiting for the weekend and came across this restaurant on yelp. It's located right on the mainstreet for easy access. Friday nights they have live music. We would have dined inside but the AC was freezing!!!! So we settled for outside where they had 3-4 tables on the side of the restaurant. Only downside to that were the annoying cars driving by with loud base/music. Their cocktails were interesting and delicious. I had the watermelon one and my fiance had the kiwi one prepared on the rocks. We shared the baked brie which came with garlic honey toast and grapes and the couscous salad (which is more arrugula/veggies than couscous:) both were delicious and we were full. Portions tend to be on the larger size it seems like. Would definitely go back! read more

The food is amazing, fresh and healthy! I've come here for brunch and dinner and I honestly don't know which one I like more! Sat at the bar and looked at the wine menu I typically go for the deepest red they have started with Malbec after asking the bartender whether I should go with the Cabernet from France for the second glass she said well I didn't think you were upper crust after looking at your Yankee jacket I don't know if you're in the right place. Oh I'm sorry I didn't know you had to have a certain jacket to sit down at the bar. Needless to say the worst bartender I have ever had with the snottiest attitude. 0.000 if I could. Great service and food . I would recommend this restaurant to any friends or family member

I went here with my girls for my sisters birthday in January. So good. This is the restaurant where I started my vegan journey. I had a quinoa bowl and it had so much flavor. The kale in it was fresh and the falafel I got on the side was so worth it! IThe servers had great energy and we were able to sit in the famous bunk sofa. The lighting was bright and we had a amazing time. Order the prosecco and drop fresh berries in it. Very refreshing. read more

Never disappoints. If you love good real food you need to come here. Any dietary restrictions can be met but also satisfied.

Many of us have to travel for a decent menu of vegetarian/vegan options; Tula Kitchen has always made that trip worthwhile. Admittedly, the tofu crab cakes were disappointingly cold in the middle and not very warm otherwise. No inquiry was made when 1/2 were left on plate. Main dishes quickly made us forget. The Veggie Moussaka is decadent, leaving me wanting to reach across table to sample often. I went with the veggie-lentil meat-a-balls served over zucchini and squash spaghetti. Delicious flavors all around, I can only guess the spaghetti is roasted, a wonderful touch I'll be using at home. Finally getting around to leaving a review has me tempted to make reservations again for this evening. read more

This was a great restaurant. It is very nice inside. Everyone was very nice friendly. We started off with the Mediterranean spread for two. It had spinach pie, Greek salad, hummus, and tzatziki sauce it was delicious. For dinner I had the chicken bowl with seasoned grilled chicken, purple rice, feta, sautéed kale, seasoned chickpeas, romaine, tomatoes, cukes, radishes & grilled pita with dill tahini dressing. It was great. I also tried a great beer Blond Ambition. I would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

A lot of gf and vegan options. Friendly staff good vibes. Definitely recommend for a nice atmosphere and good food.

The food was great and the service was fantastic we really enjoyed it thank you so much

In response to the owners comment - Unfortunately there are many errors in your response to my review. I was told there was no available seating indoors when the gentlemen on the phone called me 15 minutes prior to my reservation. There was nothing off of the menu offered to me to be made "special" by the chef. In fact, there were multiple things I asked if they could alter (no mushrooms in specific vegan items) and I was told that they could NOT make anything special by the waitress. Also, we left because there was nothing on the menu to accommodate me, and the person who went into the restaurant stated that not only was it too cold but there was nothing on the menu that I could eat. read more

Food went through me like a laxative

You are not what you were once! Overpriced with unpredictable results. Not going there again

First of all I'm obsessed with the potato salad that accompanied my burger! It's definitely one of the best I've ever had! I would give this place 4.5 stars if it was an option! The service was great! My only complaint was the hummus appetizer we shared was a little bland but it was arranged nicely on the platter. For dinner I got the cheddar quinoa burger and my friend got the shrimp orzo...both dishes were exquisite! I can't wait to come and try other things and maybe that pear cider on the menu! Also, the ambiance was great, classy but not super fancy! read more

Last Friday was my 3rd visit to Tula's in a span of about 3 years. I always go in wanting to be wowed and I never really am. It was my sister's birthday and as the birthday girl she gets to choose where she wants to go-so along I went. It was my first time there since they expanded and we were seated on the new side. It was freezing, though! We literally had our coats on as did many of the other patrons. We asked for the heat to be turned up but it didn't make a difference. The decor is lovely and really turns on what you hope will be a great dining experience. Service was very good. The menu is massive and you really need to take your time ordering. We tried out the vegan crab cakes and didn't like them at all but the other apps were good like the salad, brie cheese w honey and hummus platter. We ended up ordering just apps for the table because the menu was just too much to look through but those apps sure were expensive. Tula will give you a different experience but make sure that wallet is full and that you're ready to do some heavy reading before ordering! read more

This used to be my favorite restaurant until today. I called numerous times and it was busy. Called again and was told to call back in 30 minutes. Called the 7184 number and was told to continue calling the 7183 number. Continued calling, finally got through and was placed on hold for 5 minutes. Then was told that they were too busy and weren't taking any more orders. I ordered from Tula so much during the pandemic in order to help small businesses. This was HORRIFIC service to say the least. I will NEVER, EVER return. Very disappointed. read more

Is this place ever open? Lol. How does it stay in business..... food is good. Service is good.

Been meaning to try this place for quite sometime and last night was finally able to. I will say overall it was a good night out, staff was very friendly and courteous and food was fantastic. Started out with Mediterranean spread for 2, which consisted of slices of spinach pie, over Greek salad and pita slices with hummus, very tasty and a nice light app to start. For the main course we had the blackened catfish with garlic mash, this dish was perfectly prepared and I would certainly order it again. My GF ordered the almond crusted chicken over a bed of greens, she enjoyed the chicken but the bland greens left a bit to be desired. I would have gladly given this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the bartender being so slow, we ordered our app and drinks at the start of the meal we nearly finished the app before the drinks even arrived and when the did he screwed up the order. My gf ordered a French martini, the waitress was quick to clarify and ask if she meant the French pear martini which is on the menu (great job by the waitress), yet the bartender got wrong! Perhaps if he wasn't too busy chatting up the several women at the bar he'd be able to get a drink out correctly and in a timely manner. None-the-less will certainly be back since it's original and different menu is a nice change from most other restaurants which seemingly all have the same menu.Tula's Kitchen in Bay Shore clearly sets itself apart from the rest. read more

Good food here! Both vegan and non-vegan options. I've only had their vegan options and they are very good. The menu changes seasonally which is both good and bad. Bad because they often take off the things you love. Good because they often have new options. They renovated a few years ago and the new design is really nice with indoor-outdoor dining feel. read more
