The spicy kofteh here is great. Love that the platter comes with a whole 'nother platter of toppings! Wrap it in the lettuce and your set

I love this place and they got the best vegan kofteh in the area. Must try for vegetarians.

I ordered the Pork Cemita -- a beautiful sesame seed bun stacked with tender pork, Oaxaca cheese, creamy avocado, onion, papalo, chipotle, and mayo. This was hands down the best Cemita I've ever had. Every bite had that perfect mix of smokey heat, richness, and crunch. And let's talk about their Flamin' Hot Cheetos Elotes... they did it RIGHT. Spicy, cheesy, creamy, crunchy -- everything you want in street corn and then some. If you're near Coney Island and looking for some real-deal Mexican street food vibes, Dona Zita is a must. #DonaZita #ConeyIslandEats #CemitaCravings #FlaminHotElotes #BrooklynEats #NYCFoodie #StreetFoodGoals #FoodieInTheBigApple2025

I had the cemita with breaded chicken and was it the best sandwich I've had? No, but there's something to be said about a sandwich that feeds you for 2 days. Of the cons-- couldn't get used to the papalo leaves, wasn't a fan of the flavor (although that's a personal thing). I also thought the breaded chicken could have been crispier. Adding their complimentary salsa verde sauce improved the flavor by a lot though. They also have a bathroom and a decently sized seating area, which is a definite plus for Coney Island.

The food was okay, nothing particularly memorable but decent overall. Unfortunately, the experience at the entrance wasn't the best. The hostess had a noticeably negative attitude, which didn't make for a very welcoming first impression. Hopefully this is something the management can improve, because good hospitality starts at the door. 5 stars for the bartender Alex. bartender: "Alex, the bartender at Lokum Restaurant & Bar, was excellent. He was very professional, attentive, and made sure everyone at the bar was taken care of. His service was friendly and efficient, and he created a welcoming atmosphere. Great experience thanks to his hospitality."

The tall, heavy glasses gave off a refined touch that fit the setting perfectly. I ordered the lamb chops medium and got them well-done; no red anywhere. Luckily, they weren't dry and still tasted fine, just not the juicy medium I was hoping for. The mushroom sauce had some flavor to it, so that helped. The side, on the other hand, was confusing: long, crispy carrot strips that looked like potato chips but didn't taste nearly as good. At roughly $50 after tax and tip, the portion of three medium-sized chops felt a bit light, especially since I later saw photos on Yelp showing some plates with four. Between the off temperature, the odd side, and the light portion, I actually left and grabbed another meal afterward. Great vibe, friendly staff, decent food; but for the price, I expected a bit more substance.
