While in Brooklyn visiting my family, I was walking around Nostrand and ran into Ital Fusion. As…read moresoon as I saw the name Ital I just knew it was going to be good . It's a vegetarian restaurant with so many yummy options it's so hard to choose. The first time I went I had some spinach rice, callaloo, pumpkin, & soy chunks. Everything was so good. The second time I went I had vegetable fried rice, callaloo, cabbage & kale with a lentil patty. The lentil patty was flaky, crusty goodness. I wish I could bring this place back to AZ with me because we really need some real West Indian restaurants there Since it's so close to the house I'm probably going to just eat here every day until I leave

Price was nice and portion was good and filling. I'll be back. It's a takeout spot and no sitting are From small to large and pricing depends on how many sides you add to the plate, from 3 to 5 to 7. I had the eggplant, curry Chana, pumpkin, rice and peas and collard greens. All well cooked and well seasoned! Depending on what you want to eat, I recommend everything I just listed and they had more sides, from okra to spinach rice and more. Visit to find out and give them a trial. Brooklyn has great spots! The flavors are bangin'! The staff is so nice and the ambiance has a relaxing and grounding energy. The food is no-frills, pure amazing, healing flavor. I think the price was a little high for the portion size, but the quality of the food and the fact that they have to run their business, I understand. The kitchen is right in front and you can see the owner and staff making the food in real-time which is so homey, like another Yelper has said before. Me and other customers were even asked if we wanted more rice with our food which again reminds of loving home-cooked meals. Hope to come back often!

If I'm ever back in town, I'll definitely be returning. A lovely little gem that I'd happily recommend!

Cafe Mogador is one of those rare nyc gems that was super popular in the 2010s when they first…read moreopened and has somehow maintained that popularity over more than the decade plus since. I went back for a weekday lunch recently and the food and atmosphere both hold up fabulously, so it makes sense why they've remained a brunch mainstay at both their East Village and Williamsburg locations. I enjoy that they serve their hot moroccan tea in a glass as is traditional, so you can see all the fresh mint leaves in your cup. I had tea like this multiple times a day during my trip to Morocco a few years back so sipping on this here took me back in time. I ordered a short stack of their blueberry pancakes which were very fluffy and delicious. They're not the kind of pancake with crispy edges, which are my preferred kind of pancake but I still found them satisfying. The moroccan eggs, which are two poached eggs in spicy stewed tomatoes and served with zahar pita is a delight. The pita is very fluffy and the zahatar adds such a nice fragrant spice to the bread. They used to serve this with potatoes but now those come at an additional charge but are well worth getting. The Williamsburg location also has pretty good wifi and they let me work on my laptop through my brief stay there. Kitchen was speedy too.

Namaste is becoming my favorite place on Cortelyou…read more First, it's quiet and chill. You're not crowded around people, it's never loud, and it's family-friendly. The servers are so so nice. One time I ordered a drink (the passionfruit mule is delicious) and the server told me to try it and please let her know if it was ok, because the person in charge of drinks hadn't started her shift yet. She really wanted to make sure I liked it. As for the food, I don't know Nepali food that well, so I can't judge it against the full cuisine. I always get the thali (I change up the protein) and my friends always seem to get the jhol momos. Both are absolutely lovely and keep me coming back. The thali's protein portion is small, I'll say - last time I got the veg (tofu) and it was positively tiny, maybe about 3 oz of diced tofu. But I still love supporting this place because they're genuine, nice, and it's just a great vibe in our neighborhood. If you don't know Nepali food, I wouldn't let that intimidate you - it's very mild compared to Indian food and the servers will help you. The momos are very much siblings of chinese dumplings, so that's an easy order if you're not sure which way to go. I also appreciate that the mocktails are around $8, not like $16 like so many hipster places these days!

The ceviche was probably the best ceviche I've ever had in my life. It was blood orange based, but the citrus was really well balanced. The king oyster mushroom dish was soo delicious. The sauce and the texture of the mushrooms were to die for. I've salivating thinking about them right now! The fish was also so amazing. The bottoms were so crispy, it was almost like it was a layer of potato chip! Really great texture, and the fish meat was cooked to perfection. Really sad that they're closing, but looking forward to whatever the chef/restaurant team does next!

Our food experience at Nura was a bit of a mixed bag, but when I think about the total package with…read moreambiance, environment and service, I feel like it earns four stars. It's a beautifully designed space, and we went in the evening so it was dimly lit and had good tunes, contributing to an intimate and cool vibe. The service throughout was good both by our primary server and the rest of the team that was bringing out dishes. For the food, we did not feel that it was a strong start, but the ending was great! The first dish to come out was their cornbread, which we agreed was very light and had a super tender texture, but there was just nothing special about the taste profile to us. The second dish were their prawns. We couldn't put our finger on the off-putting flavor in there, but we agreed that something just wasn't right and almost tasted spoiled. You also had to work a bit to dissect the prawns and remove the heads and skin. To work for it and then not enjoy the taste wasn't a great combo for us, unfortunately. It started turning around with their sweet potatoes, a type I'd never had before that were "baby" and purple on the outside while white inside. They served the potatoes with a gorgeously whipped Greek yogurt that added the exact right amount of tang to balance the sweet potato and the herby topping. The stars of the night were the coconut basmati rice and the lamb shank. My goodness! The rice dish was so complex from a flavor and texture profile and just hit all the right notes for us, and that lamb! Definitely one of the best lamb dishes I've had - Impossibly tender and seasoned to perfection. One other note I'll make regarding drinks is that they did not have a strong wine list. I ended up ordering a red, but later heard our waiter recommend against getting their wine to another table and suggesting their cocktails and mocktails instead. Just something to keep in mind if you're a wine lover!

I later returned on several occasions and tried their Moon Milk, which is a delicious mixture of turmeric, cardamom, coconut and ashwahganda, the Key to the Garden drink (coconut, nutmeg, cacao, cinnamon and maple), their vanilla chocolate chip cookies and regular chocolate chip cookies. You can get these drinks hot or iced. I had all of them iced! I also had one of the best iced matcha lattes ever from here with sweet coconut milk. WOW. From what I've seen, baked goods change daily and their drink menus change semi often as well, which is exciting!! Outside, there is some seating, lovely items and books for purchase and a window to order, as well as the menu items displayed on boards and items around the space. Inside is quite similar, but with more items for sale and more seating. The vibes are immaculate and this seems to be a space that's community centered and has an emphasis on carrying items made by local artists. Remember to bring cash to tip. I cannot wait until my next visit here!!

When they said secret Garden, I suppose so because I have a hard time finding this spot because it…read moredoesn't outright have any signage that says secret Garden or juice bar like it's supposed to or what you would think that it should so I just think that's kind of weird, but once you walk past the place several times. You realize it's cluttered with a bunch of knickknacks and other games and accessories that. Some of the items inside look like they're either for sale or just meant for display, which is fine, but I feel like it distracts from the main purpose, which is serving food and being a comfortable resting spot. It's no fault of the place, but the vibe is a mix of reggae, African folk music, and incense, and it contrasts sharply with the environment outside. There's an Italian restaurant across the street blasting Frank Sinatra type music, so the clash is noticeable. I feel like maybe the sound could be adjusted or balanced somehow. As part of the promotion, I ordered the vegan lentil soup. It was okay, nothing special but not bad. Then I was served an iced chai latte, and most of the spices sank to the bottom under the ice. After I swirled it, the spices still didn't have much flavor. It wasn't strong or pungent, and you couldn't really taste the spices or feel any of the digestive benefits chai is usually known for. It didn't taste like tea; it was just mildly sweet. I could see myself drinking it with a dessert, but it didn't stand out on its own. The service was friendly. I hope this place the best and want it to succeed but it needs to literally clean up.
