I absolutely love this place. I first came here for a Yelp event week, where I tried the Hood Healer and their vegan lentil soup. Both were incredible and I felt immensely better afterwards. I later returned on several occasions and tried their Moon Milk, which is a delicious mixture of turmeric, cardamom, coconut and ashwahganda, the Key to the Garden drink (coconut, nutmeg, cacao, cinnamon and maple), their vanilla chocolate chip cookies and regular chocolate chip cookies. You can get these drinks hot or iced. I had all of them iced! I also had one of the best iced matcha lattes ever from here with sweet coconut milk. WOW. From what I've seen, baked goods change daily and their drink menus change semi often as well, which is exciting!! Outside, there is some seating, lovely items and books for purchase and a window to order, as well as the menu items displayed on boards and items around the space. Inside is quite similar, but with more items for sale and more seating. The vibes are immaculate and this seems to be a space that's community centered and has an emphasis on carrying items made by local artists. Remember to bring cash to tip. When they said secret Garden, I suppose so because I have a hard time finding this spot because it doesn't outright have any signage that says secret Garden or juice bar like it's supposed to or what you would think that it should so I just think that's kind of weird, but once you walk past the place several times. You realize it's cluttered with a bunch of knickknacks and other games and accessories that. Some of the items inside look like they're either for sale or just meant for display, which is fine, but I feel like it distracts from the main purpose, which is serving food and being a comfortable resting spot. It's no fault of the place, but the vibe is a mix of reggae, African folk music, and incense, and it contrasts sharply with the environment outside. There's an Italian restaurant across the street blasting Frank Sinatra type music, so the clash is noticeable. I feel like maybe the sound could be adjusted or balanced somehow. As part of the promotion, I ordered the vegan lentil soup. It was okay, nothing special but not bad. Then I was served an iced chai latte, and most of the spices sank to the bottom under the ice. After I swirled it, the spices still didn't have much flavor. It wasn't strong or pungent, and you couldn't really taste the spices or feel any of the digestive benefits chai is usually known for. It didn't taste like tea; it was just mildly sweet. I could see myself drinking it with a dessert, but it didn't stand out on its own. The service was friendly. Upon arriving at the Secret Garden, I felt like it was an actual secret place because I walked past it and then turned around once I realized it was the locale I was looking for. There were prices for different items displayed in more than one spot, and not on just one menu. I decided to just order off the top of my head since I couldn't figure it out. In addition to the Hood Healer and Lentil soup I received, as a Yelp Elite, I ordered some tea. The place reminded me of the type of spot that is local, and ancestral, and kind of like -- just ask and see what is available. It gives a small town feel, in a sense. There are books for sale, which was delightful and the books seemed to be titles of varying genres, all fairly priced. The service was excellent, quick and efficient. And very helpful and very friendly. Now that I think of it, the spot could have been a cafe in Diagon Alley (IYKYK). But on the good side of things. I couldn't see inside of the small window from where I ordered my food, but I'm pretty sure there was some sort of magic going on back there based on how tasty the lentil soup was, in addition to the Hood Healer, which after taking one sip, I said, "mmm" out loud. Both the soup and drink were excellent and perfectly seasoned. I could feel the effort that was put into both items and it felt like it was made on the spot from all natural ingredients. I've been making visits here on Sundays and somehow it is almost always raining. I went yesterday and purchased a Hood Healer. It's like a spiced hot chocolate. I would suggest ordering in person at the cafe unless you don't mind paying the app upcharges. The drink is listed for $10 or so but you can get in store for less. I love that everything on the menu is vegan. The service is always friendly, but does take a little time as there is usually only one person at the register who is also providing the full service. As a vegetarian, it is delightful to be able to order anything from a menu. I love vegan places, and there are actually a few in the neighborhood. Great location, a few minutes from the A/C subway line, and accessible by bus. There is street parking but it can take a while to find a spot. Come here for a snack while you're working at the Macon library, or for an early dinner before a show with live music around the corner at LunÀtico. So happy about this partnership with Yelp! The hood healer is surprisingly good. My brain is always confused by hot milky drinks that aren't coffee based, but I really like the spice mix and it isn't too sweet. Stays blended through the end, no stray clumps of anything at the bottom. The lentil soup is delicious. The broth is so rich and creamy and the beans and lentils are cooked through without losing texture. It's flavorful without being spicy, and as filling as it is, it doesn't weigh you down. I'd love to have eaten the soup here but it was too cold and windy to sit outside, so I took my order to go. It stayed hot in the to go cup and didn't spill, which is impressive! The cookies are soft and rich enough to fatten up a paper bag (they're not vegan, so I think they might have real butter). My favorite is the oatmeal raisin. Editing to add: I just noticed from other reviews that maybe there is indoor seating? The door was shut when I visited, and the counter for ordering looked well established outside. I walked up to this spot and felt my shakras align babes. If you check it out you'll know exactly what I mean. They have a ton of options on the menu to choose from and everything is Brooklyn inspired. I couldn't decide and ordered 2 beverages for myself. It felt like I was walking up to an Erykah Badu concert. All I can say is wow! This place is really low-key but the flavors are high-key lol. I came here to redeem a voucher I received from Yelp, for a free spiced coffee and 2 cookies. I also ordered the vegan curry chicken sandwich and a ginger shot. The sandwich literally blew my mind with how good it was. & the salad that came on the side was so fresh and came with sliced strawberries and pears. I loved that the salad wasn't drenched in dressing. No indoor seating so I sat outside, got some work done on my laptop and said my goodbyes to the great staff. This place is Black-owned which is my favorite part. This is one of my favorite local cafes. They have a wonderful vibe and aura, full of fairy-like decor, vegan friendly items, and just lovely aesthetics. It's an outdoor cafe but they have benches and tables for you to sit at! I ordered the: Lavender Latte -- this was magical! they don't shy away from the lavender syrup which i appreciated. it was an interesting blend with coffee but i very much enjoyed it. they put pieces of mini floral petals and lavender leaves on top, which a cute touch. Pistacho Cookies-- Yum! can't even believe it's vegan. it's like shortbread, which i love, and the texture is crunch and melts in your mouth. Can't really taste the pistachio much but it was still really good :) Overall, i love this place. it's a place where you go on a nice sunny day and bring a book to read. The vegan curry chicken sandwich is delightful-- peppery and fresh in a way that made me forget it wasn't real chicken (a big plus in my book). I got a different tea than the one I ordered, but the one I did get was great, so I didn't really mind. I asked her what foods were in 2 dishes because my son has a life threatening food allergy, and she brushed it off giving me one word responses. After a long 11-mile run in cold temps, my neighbor and I stopped by a spot we both long-neglected for some smoothies, and discovered the greatness of Secret Garden. Hands-down, this is the most comforting cafe I've ever been to. Yes, some of that is due to the size, which is tight-ish but they've made so comfortable and welcoming. As soon as you enter, you are greeted with warm smells of goodness and lush greenery. It connects with your senses on a vibratory level, putting you at ease and ready to order something filling yet light. They've got the aforementioned smoothies, but also organic teas, juices, soups, and vegan food and treats. I especially like the list of zodiac inspired teas. And best of all...they have pie! After ordering my smoothie, I could think of nothing else but those pies (can you tell I like pie?) While I also like the seating area, I equally adore the little touches of holistic health that imbue the store with knowledge of your body and your senses. However, I was early (what's new) so I used the time alone to my advantage: I ordered a "Feel the Heat" fresh squeezed juice, which consists of beets, ginger, apple, cayenne, lime. I also ordered a cacao and oatmeal raisin cookie. It was better than I thought it would be! Because the pastries are in the front window facing the sidewalk, I assumed it'd be a tad hard but was willing to support anyways. To my surprise, it was chewy and yummy! Was only $1.08! This place is the sweetest thing ever . Me and my friend walked passed and didn't realize it was a actual place until we saw the signs and seen that it was. So we went in and it was something so magical and whimsical . Plants and so many colors and it was just so amazing . They have super cute menus on the wall and it has options for vegans, vegetarians , and pescatarians. I had the BLT which was fully vegan it was delicious and simple and comes with chips or salad I had chips. I also had the ginger tea . Everything was delicious . What I enjoy most about this place is the decor it's just so cute and charming . What I would recommend is that they get vegan desserts. That would be awesome but regardless it was the sweetest place I've been. Will def be visiting again . Was walking down the street when I noticed this gem. It is a cute little walk-up with lots of character and great music. I got the "sunshine" juice which was absolutely delicious and walked home. About 2 hours later I came back for lunch and was not disappointed! My boyfriend and I both had the vegan Philly cheesesteak - so good. We also shared the lentil soup - SO! GOOD!
