Strolled past Patty Haus after leaving the nail salon. I was hesitant to go inside because I've noticed in the past that it's always empty. It was empty again on a hot day but with a growling stomach, I took a chance. Patty Haus is very small, definitely a stand. There was only one person working when I got there. Not sure if this woman is the owner but she's the server and cashier and she had a super funky attitude. I'm really peeved by people who show outwardly that they don't want to be at their job and that was Sis' whole vibe. I asked for a veggie patty and she said that none were available. No veggie patties at a vegan patty establishment. Okay. I tried the kale patty which was decent but I was curious about the other varities. I ordered a "beef" patty. It was so well seasoned and flaky and delicious, my mouth couldn't believe that it was vegan. It was though. Patty Haus serves patties only and they are all vegan, soy or plant based. I wish I could just order the vegan beef patties online so that I don't have to deal with the unpleasant counter person. read more

The patties are amazing, and you'd never realize the whole place is vegetarian! Definitely go for the jerk plantain if it's available.

When I went there, two teenagers served me a salmon patty that clearly hadn't been heated. (This is how foodborne illnesses happen.) When I complained, one chuckled and said they had just opened. Do not come here. Just go to Puff's down the block. read more

Amazing new spot that opened tucked into a small space around the corner from Nostrand Ave. Tons of patty choices, including imitation meat and veggies -- I let them choose for me and got jerk plantain, lentil, and pumpkin. All three were knockouts. When I brought them in my apartment, my boyfriend (born and raised in Portmore, JA) commented that they smelled just like home. He didn't get to try one, though; I wolfed them down before he could get any. Will definitely be back. read more

Wanted to love it, especially considering its array of vegetarian and vegan options. You could potentially find a couple favorites here but overall the selection was disappointing. They still didn't have much of anything about an hour after opening, and said the other options were in the oven. Over an hour after that, they still only had a small selection of options out. The menu is quite varied, they just don't seem to always offer most items. Appreciate freshly baked patties, but was pretty sparse--not sure if perhaps they might bake smaller amounts of various items instead. While all that is somewhat understandable, unfortunately the patties were extremely light on fillings, pretty flat and out of the ordinary. Perfect golden crust, so too bad it was overall disappointing. read more

I dream about these pattys! I used to live a block away, but they're right across from my hair salon so I always have lunch to look forward to when I get my hair did. The jerk plantain, lentil, and split pea are not to be missed! I brought my mom with me when she visited last year and she always talks about it when we catch up. Smoothies and fruit juices are also good- extremely fresh and delicious. read more

I love this place--it's bright, welcoming, and relaxing, and I dropped by in the middle of running errands--the bright colors caught my eye! The woman who made my Green Vibes smoothie was really friendly, and even gave me an extra cup for extra smoothie. I thought this was really sweet--little gestures like this one mean a lot to me. After I paid, I sat in their seating area outside and enjoyed my smoothie (which tasted awesome--really refreshing, energizing, and not too sweet) in the sun for a few minutes. I didn't have time to try the patties, which I've heard great things about (a friend of mine loves the plantain patty)--so I'll definitely be back! read more

The older woman and the ebony complexion woman who work here are sweethearts! The two younger ones (one is short and the other is tall and plus-sized) boy oh boy...These two always have an attitude, and the tall one is rude and disrespectful. My lady and I purchased some patties. The patties were cold, despite being taken from a heating apparatus. However, we didn't make a big deal about. Then we realized we were given the wrong patties. We went back to let the tall woman know, and her attitude was on 1000. My lady asked why did she have an attitude? Her response: "Leave the f***in store". Then she claims she never said that. Food is decent but lacks in much variety, got a few items but not any drinks and I get it it's a patty place but other than that I could at least have something different in my opinion. Service was so so and not the best but not the very worst. Scenery was not really bad but needs improvement, two stars for now until they add more items. read more

I enjoyed the Callaloo patty. The pastry was light & flaky without being overly greasy. Callaloo was described to me as a mixed greens, spinach, kale filling. And from Bon Appetit , I learned "Callaloo is deeply rooted in the history of the Caribbean, with origins tracing back to the 16th century, when enslaved Africans used local plant life and ready aromatics to create a masterful meal out of seemingly nothing." The patties here are sooo good!! Warm, flaky, crispy exterior and deliciously flavored fillings. Get the jerk and curry-flavored ones - the pumpkin, lentil, plantain, peas are all good. I've liked all the ones I've tried! The patties are nicely sized too, they're pretty big. Not like the small, hard ones you sometimes get at other places. Get the hot sauce, it's fire. The woman who works there is really friendly and welcoming too. It's nice and clean inside. Need to try the smoothies next time I go now that the weather is changing. read more
