I've been looking for a health conscious Café that actually serves great food and this is the spot to go. Nurish is cozy and inviting with high ceilings and a good amount of seating space to either get some work done or meet up with a friend for a bite. For food, I would highly recommend the breakfast sandwich called Nurish (an elevated version of a bacon, egg and cheese-- to note they do not serve pork, but have turkey bacon or tempeh). The avocado and chipotle aïoli sent the sandwich through the roof. I would also suggest getting the breakfast burrito. Fresh ingredients, flavorful, and filling. The barista, Waajid, makes a wonderful Matcha latte--balanced, not too sweet, strong, and will have you wanting to order another one. His skills at making espresso drinks are second to none. I opted in to create my own bowl since I'm a picky eater. It included jerk chicken, sautéed spinach, butternut squash, farro and broccoli. It was supposed to come with a sauce but I think it was minimal but I couldn't really taste it. I ate half for lunch and the other half for breakfast the following day. The salad was solid, but didn't blow me away. I got the Can't Get Enuf Salad with Shrimp and first of all can I say that I was shocked that adding shrimp was only $3. It was the same price as adding chicken. I kept being shocked by how high NYC prices are, but this blew me away in the opposite direction. The shrimp was delicious and worth way more than the $3. The salad itself had all the makings of something I would love, hard boiled egg, avocado, blue cheese, red onions, but something felt slightly lacking. It honestly felt like a salad I could make at home, which is never good. Maybe it was the balsamic vinaigrette which was basic. I think sometimes the dressing makes the salad and this one was just ok. There are some seats inside and some outside. Most people were grabbing to go and when I first got there every seat was taken. I moved to sit at the bar looking out the window since I was solo and didn't need to take up a whole table. Everyone working here seemed super nice and there's a restroom. I learned later that this isn't the case for every restaurant so I'm glad they had a restroom here. read more

I appreciated the salad that I had. I made my own salad with mixed greens, roasted zucchini and broccoli, tomato, and lemon chicken. This was a huge salad, so I now understand the price that I paid! My first thoughts were I'm pretty sure I just overpaid for a salad ($17) but when I dug right into it for lunch, I can see that I got my money's worth. The portions are huge. They did not skimp on the broccoli and zucchini... this honestly felt like a homemade salad. The lemon chicken was not my favorite. But I wasn't feeling the jerk chicken option because I had just worked out and wasn't sure if my belly would be ok with that. Lol. However, I was very satisfied with the amount of chicken that I got. Something that I think I would have preferred is that my veggies and chicken weren't cold. But I see that I could have opted for a warm bowl. So I'm not upset about it. This is not to be confused with the similarly named Thai place on Vanderbilt. I had the Hummus On Sourdough. It's $11 and it's a big thing. This time I got it in a wrap. It has a vegan chipotle mayonnaise. Topping include cherry tomatoes, pickled onions, and shiitake mushrooms. She had the Humongous Hummus. This also was a sandwich. Like mine it also had a choice of bread. She got it in a wrap. It has avocado, carrots, cucumbers, mixed greens, and olives. There's also a big list of juices and smoothies. Among the other food choices are bowls. There's way too much to explore here. As we left already we thought about the next time here. It was good enough and there's plenty more to check out. Owner has done nothing for my inconvenience and so I will never be ordering from this place again. No problem If you care about the safety of your delivery guys as well as your customers, You'll get that idiot removed from your team.
