This is a small spot but the three of us loved it. For dining in, I personally don't recommend more…read morethan 3 (maybe 4, you can look at photos of the seating) but you could also take out and sit in a nearby park. I am an empanada fan, it's truly one of my favorite foods and they have an assortment of flavors to enjoy. Our favorites as a group varied - someone really liked the oxtail and mole, I really liked the potato and cheese and the pabellon. We also tried the morir soñando because I'm chasing the high of one I had at a cuchifritos spot in the Bronx and it might be a matter of preference, but this one was just okay to me. But def recommend the empanadas.

You can't go wrong with an empanada and these didn't disappoint. They had gf options so I went with…read morea few (in order of preference): - Sweet Plantain Pabellón was by far my favorite. The sweetness from the plantain mixed with the savory shredded beef was a magnificent combo - Corn Carne Mechada, similar to the above, the shredded beef was very flavorful - Corn Pollo, this was your basic chicken empanada so solid choice but nothing stood out, I wish it had cheese - Corn Pollo en Mole Rojo, I didn't really like the flavor profile and wouldn't order again They all came with sauces that were all so good and went very well with the empanadas. They had a spicy one, green one (avocado?) and pink (ketchup/mayo). The cashier was really nice and recommended some to try. They were out of the oxtail at the time. They fried up the empanadas fresh and were done pretty quickly. I do wish they would have labeled the empanadas so I knew what I was eating. The store is pretty small but there is seating and a bathroom. All of my friends enjoyed their empanadas as well and we would all go back!

I didn't have cash to go to the other Italian place nearby starts with the letter D. So I found…read morethis place as the next deli option I was very impressed with the choice of sandwiches. it's a big grocery store on steroids with a deli counter from wall-to-wall. They have Crazy sober up type of sandwiches services very nice and polite. I've been there twice and the prices are not bad. I got myself Italian sub with all the toppings it was delicious.

What the heck did I just eat?…read more A taco? A quesadilla? A hamburger? Some moments of reflection in my Lyft ride back home had me thinking many things about what I just ate here. Allow me to put it in perspective, this is gas station food on steroids. Located in Red Hook (and all it takes is to go outside and see you are in Red Hook), this nondescript bodega serves up one heck of a sandwich that will have you thinking, did I just eat that? This is not your ordinary New York bodega, this is the shop of General Ock, who sells various sandwiches in his renowned Ocky Way. So what is the Ocky Way? The Ocky Way is not just a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and onions, it is also about presentation and style. The sandwich is made loudly with a flair for the dramatic, from the time your food hits the flat top to when it is center cut and put in a clamshell container. What about the food? It really is pretty good! I got the Chopped Cheese the Ocky Way and it was something I really enjoyed. I recommend you get it with the Jamaican Patty as that is what makes the flavors work best. You can also do it with a waffle or pancake or whatever bread you like. All you have to do is scarf it down. You can also put your own toppings on your sandwich if you want for an extra premium à la Farmer in the Deli style. Farmer in the Deli is another well known bodega in Fort Greene, known for finely chopping their meat into a sandwich, one I highly recommend as well. Even after writing this review, I still cannot believe what I ate here. Before I finish this review, I have to say one more thing. Neva neva neva forget to get a drink with your order!
