Let me preface this by saying I meant to order my precious arugula salad with chicken from the OTHER Milk Bar on Vanderbilt, yet when I pulled my friend's poor, anxiety-riddled hound out of the house and coaxed him the few blocks out there, they had no idea which ChowNow order I was referring to and told me to check the address in the confirmation email. Alas, I would have to drag the dog twenty minutes in the opposite direction amidst the heatwave and then still go to another place to pick up a sandwich for my bf before he had to leave for the airport. *sigh* I should have left over an hour before. Okay, onto the actual review: this location is very cute and more spacious than the Vanderbilt Milk Bar, but considering there was only one person who was ahead of me in line, and I was just picking up an order, they took a damn long time. I know, it was my mistake and these people are not required to have a sense of urgency--hell, even the people working in the proper terminals at JFK never seem to care--but just a note in case you're ever running late for something; I don't think I would chance it again. I would come back for a lazy coffee, or perhaps a salad on the patio on a cooler day, because the salad was very good, but not again in a rush for any reason whatsoever. read more

I typed this address onto waze believing I was going to the actual Milk Bar location, you know the one that serves ice cream, cakes, cookies, the good stuff. So when I arrive, you can imagine I was shocked to see this isn't a Milk Bar sweets store or even a Milk Bar owned location! This has nothing to do with the Milk Bar sweets stores, so I think it is pretty suspicious a business uses the same store name so try to get some extra "clout" as the kids call it these days. I have been coming to this restaurant for years, spent multiple weeks of maternity leave treating myself to lunch here. Today I had an experience that blew my mind and this is so the owner knows how rude and disrespectful her staff is, mainly the blonde woman with glasses, who called my friend out because her baby was innocently playing with one of the flowers from the table vase. Ripped the glass vase off the table and yells "No! we just bought these today!!!" And sets the vase on a different table away from them, as if a paying customer was doing something absurd. The woman's attitude and anger was so startling that multiple people around scoffed at her behavior. I'm not a fan of eating out, especially breakfast, but I stumbled on this little spot since working in Park Slope and I must say I was quite impressed! Their food menu is absolutely commendable especially the egg breakfasts because of how nutrient-dense it is! Every-time I stop by, I know I am going to leave satiated and content with my meal! The workers are quite relaxed and helpful individuals , not that fake overly-friendly vibe you get nowadays. They do their job and get it done! Their music playlist gives off a chill, pleasant vibe and at a respectable volume. Not to be confused with the dessert shop Milk Bar of Momofuku fame, this was a nice breakfast and lunch spot which I went to maybe back in August or July. They serve a good brand of coffee but I had an iced tea which was strong and perfectly fine for the price. I decided to go with the "Salmon Eggs - Full" which consists of sourdough toast, a layer of smoked salmon, pickled shallots, fresh dill, and a poached egg which was $13. As with many of the other dishes, they have a half option in case you're looking for a lighter meal but it's less worth it of course for the price. The pickled shallots added a wonderful extra flavor to the dish and it helped with the richness of the tasty smoked salmon. The egg was properly poached and overall I enjoyed it a lot. I am unfortunately not in this part of Brooklyn though for my wallet's sake, this is probably a good thing. Overall not much to complain about outside of the prices of course but it's to be expected for the area. I did try a salad from someone else and we found it to be a bit boring and I believe someone had a tuna melt which was massive and they enjoyed it. read more

I read some of the reviews about bad service here, but thankfully, I actually had a lovely experience here this morning. My mom and I were in the area and had about 45 minutes to spend, so we walked around a bit before I realized we were actually right by Milk Bar which I had bookmarked. We decided brunch was the way to go so we popped in, checked out the menu, and since everything looked good to us, we sat down. The first waitress brought us another menu almost immediately along with water. In a few minutes, we were ready to order. I went with the Iced Mint Tea and the Sweet Potato Pancake with Kale (I opted for no eggs). Mom went with the Tuna Melt. My dish was a perfect portion for me. I wasn't overly stuffed but definitely satisfied. Mom enjoyed her Tuna Melt which was actually huge lol and served with a side salad. No complaints here! Overall, pretty good spot to grab a (mostly healthy) bite. Just be warned that it will probably be crowded. We popped in on a Tuesday for brunch and there were a ton of people dining and working on their laptops at the tables. We had to wiggle in to a tiny table for 2, but we really didn't mind. I had an enjoyable breakfast here with my friends. Space isn't large but it's not super small either. I read from prior reviews so I knew what to expect. We arrived early (930am) midweek for breakfast and a table for 3 opened up as we were walking in. We had 1) Belgian waffle with mascarpone cheese 2) Tuna melt 3) Cheddar Biscuit sandwich. My faves were the tuna melt and the belgian waffle. The waffle is small and I believe it was just 1. If you have a hungry tummy, best bet from the above is prob the Tuna melt. You must stop at one of their locations for breakfast! I love most any place that will let me add avocado and smoked salmon to my toast or biscuit. When I saw this option on the menu I had to try it out. Most places for brunch are cute and have avocado toast as an option these days but not many let you add smoked salmon to your dish. So it is a cute place with a great little patio. The servers were friendly and attentive. The place was s constant flow of people eating in and ordering take out. We had the avocado toast with a poached egg and the cheddar biscuit with smoked salmon. Both of these dishes were so superb on their own, but together they were the perfect combination. The scrambled eggs on the cheddar biscuit were so soft and moist. There was so much smoked salmon that I had a little in each bite. We all ordered half size and were full already. Can I get a HELL YEAH?!?! Ha, do you see my excitement? Milk Bar has been a favourite of mine ever since I tried them when they had just opened on Vanderbilt. To my absolute delight, they recently opened a location in Park Slope which is a lot more convenient for me to get to (including parking). One thing I tell people about Milk Bar, the food will fill you up but you'd crave more because it's just that good, even if you're full. I always get the egg scramble toast and add smoked salmon. It is the epitome of divinity, for real. The full eggs, and mushroom toast is also really tasty and delicious. They get 10 points for allowing subsitutions --- not being able to take out creme fraiche from the eggs would have been a deal breaker for me. Their coffees, lattes are fresh, hot and very flavorful and they have almond milk (ha I've been running into places that still haven't heard of non dairy milk). They are a little pricey but totally worth every penny. I think about that egg scramble toast and totally get butterflies and feels down my body haha. The staff is also friendly and eager to help you decide what to order. So so glad they opened in Park Slope. read more

Cute cafe on the corner of 6th Ave. I love the entrance area. There are benches so you can sit outside on a nice day. On the inside, it was never too crowded and plenty of light/sunlight shines through. The wait staff was very attentive and took my order quickly. I had an iced latte and the full salmon egg toast. The iced latte was nice and strong. It was slightly smaller than expected so I ordered a drip coffee afterwards. The toast was enough for two, which I slowly savored. I was a bit disappointed at one of my poached eggs though. It was a bit overcooked, thus not runny at all. My friend and I hung around for a good bit and when the place was about to close, the staff gave us the last two pastries :D, topping off my experience here. read more

I ended up giving up the wait and walking out as after 7 minutes I still hadn't gotten my coffee to go order taken with no likelihood that it might happen soon. As far as breakfast goes, you don't get much better than Milk Bar. I love greens and other healthy ingredients with my eggs in the morning and Milk Bar offers such dishes in multiple varieties. And it's delicious. I'm so happy it exists! My one big complaint that just rubs me the wrong way is that they charge $4 for a side of avocado. I went with my 8 month old yesterday and half way into my meal asked for a side for the baby. It was only when I got the check that I noticed the price. There was nothing special about the side of avocado. It was sliced into thin pieces. It looked like roughly a quarter to a third of avocado. I was told it was half. I don't believe that, but even if it was, that means they were pricing avocados at $8 each. At best. I'd say based on my size it was somewhere between $12-$16 per avocado. It's a huge rip off and I don't appreciate it. My delicious breakfast salad with egg was $12. So a side of avocado is worth a third of the various kale, shallots, bacon, eggs, squash, tomatoes and g-free toast I purchased. A side of salmon is the same price as avocado! Also, adding avocado to something is $2.50. Why is there a difference?? I mentioned it to two waitresses and was told I wasn't the only person to complain about this. Apparently, the owner knows but doesn't plan to take action. I still think it's a great spot and I'll continue to eat there, but I'll keep buying my avocados at the co-op for a dollar to save myself seven. read more

Milk Bar Brooklyn is on the corner of 6th Avenue and Union Street, away from the busy 5th and 7th Avenues. The entrance area is welcoming with benches to spend time with your pet during your morning walks. The place is clean, light and airy. The Milk Bar is essentially a breakfast bar. A great place for an early get-together with friends, work acquaintances and loved ones, or a quiet place to eat breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere. The Salmon and Eggs: Poached Eggs with dill and sliced red onion, with smoked salmon over sourdough. Fairly simple enough, and makes a good breakfast with a coffee or a chai latte. The Full Eggs: Poached eggs with Swiss cheese, ham and tomatoes over sourdough. Small portion (Half), is available. Now, the Milk Bar, while very good, is not without its drawbacks - the price point is fairly high. Be prepared to pay at least $8 for a bare-bones breakfast, not including a drink which is liable to push it over $10. Table service is the standard there. If you are on a budget or just want something small to get you through the day, "half" sizes are available, and "Just Toast" is on the menu for $5. That said, if that is your consideration there are some other places that are just as fine to get a bigger bang for your buck. For the Milk Bar, I would certainly take this as a venue for an early-morning social place for friends and acquaintances to start out the day, but probably not a regular stop for your coffee and breakfast. It's a great place, and I look forward to being back soon with friends assuming they get their act together and wake up on time (I guess some people can't hold their liquor) for a nice chat and hang-out. read more

So, I've eaten here a few times and found the food very mediocre and way overpriced for what you get. If my review was based on that alone I would give a slightly higher rating. However, I've visited multiple times to get a coffee to go. It costs $3.75 and they've managed to mess up a basic coffee every-time! Most of the time the coffee is either completely burnt or so watery you can barely taste coffee, just water. The rest of the times they actually put old curdled milk in my coffee. There were massive curdles floating at the top; it was undrinkable. I really hope they up their game, right now everything about this place is completely subpar. read more

Milk Bar definitely exceeded expectations for a corner cafe in Park Slope. Disclaimer: this is not the famous milk bar that makes cereal and milk ice cream. I stopped in with my family when they were visiting one weekend when we didn't want to do a big brunch and were expecting coffee shop pastries and such, but Milk Bar has a full menu with table service. The menu is very progressive with lots of poached eggs and avocado. I got the avocado toast and some others got the eggs. My mom got the tuna melt. All of the food was EXCELLENT! Service was pretty spot on, too. The only small reservation I had about the experience was that the portions were a little small. Don't go here expecting a big breakfast! This place is a gem to have in the neighborhood and I can't wait to go back and try the 10 other things I wanted to order last time. read more

This is a great add to the neighborhood. Cute little spot with counter and table service that serves all-day breakfast options. Great vegetarian options and non-dairy milks. Healthy and fresh. It tends to be a bit over run with work-from-home types but I've never had an issue getting a table when I come mid-afternoon. Staff is mostly friendly and competent. Good music is always playing too. :) A few gripes: Why do businesses close the kitchen before closing time? This makes no sense to me. If you close at 4pm, you should stop taking tables and food orders AT 4PM! It shouldn't mean that your staff literally walks out the door at 4pm. Seeing how many times I've been there and you've turned away customers it seems reasonable you'd at least max out your open hours. Up charge for non-dairy milk is unreasonable for a splash of it in a coffee, when it's not a latte. read more

They closed the kitchen at 3:19pm as customers were told... she couldn't have waited?? The toast was not toasted, dry without a hint of oil or butter and my egg was dried up. The cook really did not put her heart into this. The cappuccino here is just not as robust and tasty as in Vanderbilt Milk Bar.
