Phoenix, Arizona. Interesting new, metropolitan eatery set up in North Phoenix (Scottsdale) area. I am not a local so my location description might be off, but, this trendy eatery was quite a different experience from what I have been accustomed to under the Valley of the Sun or Cacti. Service: A. Pleasant. Warm. Fast. Food: B. Limited to the few dishes I experienced upon the last visit, but, everything was super salty. Be weary for those with sensitive palettes as every bite will make the eyebrow twinkle and the tongue thirst for some of the ice cold filtered water from salt. The heavy salt masked the natural ingredients that were utilized. Brussels Sprouts - Had a nice kick to it. Unsure where the salty undertone is sourced from, possibly, the dressing or oil used to cook em. However, the crunchy bite sized candy bars were succulent to the last ounce. Kale Salad - Too much dressing for my taste. Should have requested on the side but I just forgot. Otherwise the Salad mix with the crunchy nuts, and hearty avocado had all the greens a hungry man can desire. Turkey Burger - I only had a small bite of this. It was salty as hell. Sunday is my cheat day and if I was going to indulge in meat, it won't be on this Turkey Burger. Lasagna - Chicken lasagna was super salty. The herbs were overkill, but, the overall cheese, spinach and chicken mash was a great idea. Unsure if the extra sodium was added on top of the sauce mix or is a portion of the process, but, this was way to salty for me. Location: In the mall area west of the Embassy Suites Biltmore. NE Block of North 24th and Camelback Roads. Decor/Interior: A. Splendid. Clean. Metropolitan. Trendy. Stuff along those lines. The ceiling is high with plenty extra space allowing for a loud dining experience. The prep tables are among the dining area so you can see the staff chop up your veggies. This model provides a different dining experience than the meat, potato, green chile, southwest, desert cuisine I am accustomed to patronizing while in this part of Murica. Price: Appx $20 per with no alky. Overall: Pleasant dining experience with friendly people. Clean, safe, with a tranquil outdoor patio to allow the warm sun to radiate the soul on a cold winter day, and with the abstract auditory experiences of vehicular traffic, birds chirping, little squirrels tapping all over, women gossiping and a variance of club music or old fashion rock hitting the speakers. After a hike close to Camelback Mountain, I wanted something filling but not unhealthy to eat with vegetarian options for other people in my party. We decided to try True Food kitchen on a Sunday for lunch. Outdoor and indoor options with social distancing between tables is going on which made the dining experiencing here safe. We ate outside and they have heaters above the tables (which is nice when it is a little chilly outside). No menus given, scan a QR code at your table to pull up the menu and you can even pay through their website so you don't have to touch anything (so it's a touch free dining experience which I thought was very cool). I had their Chicken Avocado Wrap which was pretty good and came with sweet potato hash. My friend had the Korean noodle bowl with tofu and I thought that was very delicious and tasty and would recommend that if I were to return here for a meal! Definitely would recommend True Food! I am a BIG FAN of this health focused restaurant. I really enjoyed my last visit and when I heard about the winter special immunity bowl made with lion's mane mushrooms I had to try it. The bowl was good and packed with mushrooms but it seemed like 99% of the mushrooms were not lion's mane mushrooms. I questioned my servicer about the mushrooms and she she thought they were lion's mane mushrooms. I am familiar with lions mane mushrooms so I know I wasn't eating lion's mane mushrooms. The mushroom floating in my bowl is a smooth mushroom that doesn't resemble or even taste like a Lion's mane mushroom. Lion's mane mushrooms are frilly and taste like protein. The mushrooms in my bowl were similar to shiitake. I also messaged this restaurant about a week ago now and nobody returned my message. I don't know if they ran out or use a blend of mushrooms and I got a bowl that only had one small piece of the lion's mane mushroom. I still like and enjoy this restaurant but I feel like I got slightly bamboozled here so I feel the need to lower them a star. *****Slight update******* A coupe days after I wrote my review management from True Food Kitchen contacted me and said that they didn't run out of lion's mane mushrooms. My colleagues and I ordered take-out from here for lunch. I ordered the grass-fed burger, and by the time we got back to the office (10 minute drive) the burger smelled so rancid! I was afraid to eat it out of fear of getting sick and/or having bad breath, but my company paid for it and I didn't want to waste it. I love dining at True Food, especially when I'm feeling healthy! You can rest assure you're going to get a healthy meal, full of flavor with organic ingredients. I had the cauliflower polenta with grilled chicken, snow peas, and radishes. I loved it. I had this same dish at the Kierland location, and it was better than the Biltmore location. Unfortunately this time at the Biltmore, the chef over used garlic, that over took the "cauliflower polenta" luckily I love garlic. Hubby got the turkey burger with a side kale salad! No more than two weeks after my virginal visit to True Food Kitchen in Walnut Creek, I found myself looking for a healthy dinner in the Biltmore Fashion Park shopping center in Phoenix, and lo and behold, here was another True Food Kitchen. Little did I know this was the original one founded by alternative medicine guru Andrew Weil who based the menu on an "anti-inflammatory food pyramid'. I don't know what the hell that means but that high-falutin' approach translates into a heavily vegetarian/vegan menu which was fine by me. I played it safe the first time by ordering Heirloom Tomatoes & Watermelon and Spaghetti Squash Casserole (no cheese please) and was quite satisfied (review: http://bit.ly/2zOmRJs). This time I felt a bit more audacious and first ordered the $9 Edamame Dumplings, which were surprisingly savory since they contained just dashi, white truffle oil, and Asian herbs to go along with the smashed soybeans. I just thought it rather odd that they presented long Romaine lettuce leaves as the wrappers as they aren't naturally grabble and cuppable like good ol' deconstructed iceberg wedges (photo: http://bit.ly/2AzWKmt). It was still tasty, but I misjudged the ratio of filling to lettuce leaf and had too much filling left. Not a bad problem because it was good all by itself, almost like a moo shu pork without the pork. Frankly all the dishes sound good here. Healthy too with a bit of an Asian accent on a lot of them like Teriyaki Quinoa and Spicy Panang Curry. The salads looked appetizing as they passed by, especially the $14 one that featured seasonal ingredients like asparagus and broccolini. The place was pretty packed for a weeknight with fit and aspiring-to-be-fit Phoenicians. No matter what end of the food pyramid I was eating, I just like what Dr. Weil has attempted to do here since the menu combines healthy and tasty in a refreshing way. Great menu options and service. I started eating here when I was vegan and their vegan burger is pretty good. Now, I order the steak dish or the grass fed burger which are also pretty good. What happened to True Food? We went last night for the first time in quite some time and it was a completely different experience. I realize True Food is a chain restaurants, but it never felt like a chain restaurant until last night. My sister had the meatloaf, I had the salmon entree. Both were complete dry and flavorless (including the sides). The new website, menu and even the switch to paper napkins make this restaurant feel more like a Red Robin than anything special. Unfortunately, it seems like this once beacon of healthy, delicious food is now just a mundane chain restaurant. There are so many better options out there for the price. read more

He definitely knew the menu and knew what to offer that was vegan. Also, the fact that he gave me enough time and did not rush me was nice. He even was willing to take my photo when I asked. Great food great people! I walked in and was immediately greeted and seated where Adam told me about True Food Kitchen and it was nice to hear about what they had to offer. Adam explained that their menu changes every couple months depending on what the local farmers had in season. He gave me a few minutes to look over the menu while he brought me my water. I tried the hangover RX (I wasn't hungover but it had coconut water my favorite) it was delicious and refreshing. For my entree I ordered the squash casserole which was delicious! I did not know what to expect or if I would get full with just veggies, but let me tell you I did not want it to end. The cheese the sauce the squash everything had a perfect taste. For dessert I had the flourless chocolate caramel cake which was amazing as well! It came with ice cream and that was just as delicious.
