Okay, so this is one of those places that IS as cool as it seems on social media! Lots of seating options, but we chose to sit at the bar overlooking Main St. It's a narrow counter top and there's nowhere to put your bag, so just a heads-up there if you like a little more space. The staff was fantastic! So patient, great recommendations (I doubted something she suggested, and what she suggested ended up being way better then what I wanted), was available to us when we needed and also did a great job just leaving us alone to chat. Really couldn't have asked for better service! The vibes are fun! It's somehow both family friendly and trendy? The drinks are great! I had a specialty banana rum punch and the Pink Dragon (mezcal, lime, dragon fruit, agave, black salt). I'm not a tequila girlie, but the person next to us had one and it was such an attractive beverage. My only regret? I didn't have two! The food was amazing! Bless these restaurants that are out here serving up quality vegan food. We had the specialty guacamole (it was topped with avocado and chile lime seasoning, I believe) and it was a SOLID portion for the price point. I also got: 1) the BBQ jackfruit taco (with coco pineapple BBQ sauce, slaw, picked onions) and while it was filling, it was pretty underwhelming. When I look back at my pics, I'm wondering if they forgot to add the sauce? 2) the Impossible Taco (pico de gallo, vegan chipotle crema, cabbage) was stupid good. GET THIS. I wish I had gotten two of these. I feel very basic saying that my favorite thing about this place was the bartender. He was exceptionally friendly! Considering he's a bartender in a tourist town... I was impressed. The restaurant has a very funky and chill vibe. It's got good energy and just the right amount of noisiness. We had the short rib tacos and they were absolutely delicious. My small family visited this restaurant for dinner yesterday. After we went to the counter (and carrying a stroller up the stairs to get there), we learned it would be 30 minutes and so we put my phone number down and they would text me when a table opened up. Within 10 minutes a table was available, but we had just gotten ice cream so we brought it with us they were nice about it. We sat at a high top table next to the window. we held the baby. The food was fast and accurate. My gluten free spouse chose the carnitas with gf tortillas. The gluten free tortillas look like flour tortillas but they assured us they were correct. Both spouse and our baby enjoyed these (even the scallions). For vegetarian tacos, I ordered the Jack fruit and veggie special (blistered shishito peppers). Both were cold (is that normal?). As a vegetarian, I would pick the impossible taco next time. I was skeptical of Mexican food in Maine as someone who is Californian and knows what good Mexican food is (both in California and Mexico). However, Instagram convinced me to give this place a try. F O O D: the tacos were okay. It was disappointing to not see any cheese on even the chicken taco. While we would get the chicken tacos again, we would not get the impossible tacos. The Tijuana Caesar was really bad. It tasted off, as if it had some funky dairy in it. It was the biggest disappointment I've experienced food wise at a restaurant in a while (or perhaps ever). And the food was excellent! Fiesta guac added pepitas and pomegranate seeds, which were fun but the guac didn't need them. Chips were great. I really liked the choice to limit the menu which lead to a higher quality for what they do make. I was in Ogunquit for a few nights with my family and even though we love lobster, we needed a change-up, so we tried this little hole in the wall taqueria. It's on a rooftop surrounded by foliage, hence its name. We had to wait for a table, and the waitstaff was very nice. We started with some chips and guac, which were pretty good, and I also got a Raspberry Cooler to drink. It was nicely presented and tart! Then we moved on to the tacos themselves. I got two of the quesa birria tacos with the slaw as a side. Oh my god, these tacos are heavenly. They were warm and filled with cheese and flavorful birria, and when you dipped it in the consommé (au jus), it blew my mind. The slaw was really good too, it was a good palate cleanser. Me and my family go to Ogunquit every 3rd weekend of October and always just miss going here, as it usually closes earlier in the month. But this year they were open and we were so excited to try it and it didn't disappoint! The margaritas and tacos were excellent and the bartender/owner, Peter, was great!
