Amazing cocktails, easily the best we had in Ogunquit. The Fancy Bear was bright but balanced and the No Friends at Dusk is like an elevated painkiller. My partner tried a beet juice based mocktail and it was quite good - sweet in the right way, not too earthy. I wish we'd had dinner there too because the Smashburger looked damn good. Service was excellent. There was a live band playing in the theatre and you could sit on a couch or at a table. We opted to sit at the bar, which is a separate room that is completely its own vibe with touches of art nouveau and art deco. We stopped in on a whim for a drink and were lucky enough to grab one of the small tables for two. The bar itself is cozy, but the ambiance is what really stood out. The theater has such a cool atmosphere, and walking in with the smell of fresh popcorn from the lobby made it even better. We only had one drink each, but mine, made with Earl Grey tea and lemon, was honestly one of the best cocktails I had in Ogunquit that night. Incredibly bizarre and rude behavior from staff and management. A group of us woman ages 23-30 on vacation came to watch the Knicks game. Four of us flew in from Virginia and one of us drove up from Connecticut. After 20 minutes the waitress finally cleared dirty glasses from our table from the last party, came back and took our order. Waitress asked for our IDs and left with them. Came back 10 minutes later and said she "didn't feel confident" that they were real, specifically the Connecticut ID. She asked for passports, we obviously didn't bring passports with us to a bar in the United States. She walked away without resolving it or even offering to at least take a food order or give us water. It became clear they just did not want to serve us. One of our friends, a 26 year old bartender, went up to management to clarify what was going on. They claimed they didn't have UV light to verify the authenticity of the ID. Strange for a popular bar that's worried about fake IDs. They asked if our friend from Connecticut had credit cards with her name or something to verify her identity. We said yes. She even had a tattoo of her birthdate on her ankle. They still hedged and said "well we're not confident in the ID but we're figuring it out." At that point it had been over 30 minutes and we called bullshit and left. Don't bother wasting your time here if you're under the age of 40, they'll just think you're some underage college kids i guess. read more

Flew up to Maine for the first time from Virginia and our friend from Connecticut drove up as well to meet us for a girls trip. We self seated to watch the NBA finals game and it wasn't clear whether or not we order from the bar or if there was a server for the tables. After some time, the server came over to clear off the dirty glassware on the table from a previous party. She asks if we are ready to order after she took the dishes back, I ask if she was able to sub tequila for the espresso martini (cause I'm allergic to vodka) and she said no cause it's pre-batched. So, I proceed to ask what kind of tequila they have and if I can have a espolón reposado. She said sure and asks all of us for IDs, takes them from us and doesn't come back for a while. Finally she comes back and tells us she doesn't feel comfortable serving us cause she believes our ids are fake and if we have passports on our person. Why would we fly domestically with our passports?? I don't even feel comfortable carrying my passport on my person when I travel internationally. My friend goes up to the manager to clarify what's going on and whether or not they have the tech to prove they're real, we are also bartenders and I am 29 turning 30 this August. All my friends are of age. Unreal. Regardless of whether or not we were getting alcohol, there was no greet or service for water or food. The lack of communication was unacceptable. A group of us just spent four days at this theatre for an event, and they were absolutely wonderful. The food, the cocktails, the theater itself, we had a HUGE group for this event, and everyone was so kind and accommodating. There is typical theater seating, and also box-type seating, and couches in the back so that anyone of any size/ability has a comfortable place to enjoy the shows. We especially loved the bar service right to our seats, and the food was absolutely delicious. Actually, the gluten-free bun they use with their super tasty burger is the best I've ever had. We would have loved to go to a movie here, but this is COVID summer so we had to settle for Ogunquit's latest last call and open kitchen. We sat outside around 11pm and had a really good spaghetti carbonara and mapo tofu (spicy as hell and delicious; not for vegetarians though as it has minced pork) along with a Mexican style corn on the cob for an appetizer. Portions aren't massive and prices were fair. The Aperol spritz wasn't our favorite, but the sour style beer was quite good. Service was friendly and hipstery, the vibe at the bar area lively, and the owners and staff thoughtfully progressive, with signage about Black Lives Matter. Not only is this theater historical and quite magical but the work that the owners have put into it over the years is beautiful. The weekly lineups that they have chosen for this venue are nothing short of incredible, & so much fun! The bar inside the theater is aesthetically picture perfect! The bar and restaurant downstairs is equally beautiful and the food was delicious. We ordered the skirt steak with chimichurri and it was seasoned and cooked perfectly and the accoutrements were paired well. I highly recommend their entire menu, especially the steak! The drink menu is clever and the drinks were top notch. I had the espresso martini which came beautifully garnished with homemade Baileys whipped cream. My husband had the Lovett margarita and he said it was very good as well. The staff was polite, professional, fast, and fun! You don't find a lot of family-run businesses that are decades (or in this case, a century!) old and are still able to adapt with the times -- and for the better. Leavitt is one of those rare exceptions. Growing up in Ogunquit, I have so many good memories watching movies in the old theater and now I can sit in that same theater and watch live music with a drink in my hand on a Friday night. The Leavitt recently added a bar (Leavitt Lounge) in the back, which is a great addition in my opinion. It opens up after their nightly movie has ended. Leavitt Lounge feels like a speakeasy. The drinks are all handcrafted and delicious and there's usually a live band playing music. It's a fun local hangout, but also accessible to out-of-towners just because of the sheer novelty of it all, for nothing else. I mean, you're having a drink in a historic, 100-year-old theater, so that's pretty cool. The Leavitt has been an Ogunquit staple for decades and I hope it continues to be! read more

We purchased a private table for $80 and were a bit disappointed when the waitress told folks who arrived after us that they could choose any table that didn't have a "reserved" sign on it.
