Wandby Landing is a place i've always heard wonderful things about and I'm so glad I finally got to try it. I love that it's a bit out of the way of the downtown area so you can park and relax in a beautiful setting. We started with cocktails and drank them outside while admiring the beautiful property, i highly recommend getting there before your reservation so you can enjoy a drink on a nice day outside! I got the Tideline cocktail and substituted the tequila for mezcal after the bartender suggested it and wow! A great drink and i was impressed how fast the service was. Once we sat down inside we ordered a lovely Gamay for the table, you really can't go wrong with any of the wines on the menu they have a great selection. We ordered quite a few dishes to share between the three of us and the server brought them out in a 3 course style per her suggestion. We started with the citrus and fennel salad and grilled raddichio and these were both so fresh and delicious, we had to leftover vegetables this were exceptional. Then came the asparagus pizza, pork and beef meatballs, and the focaccia as our second course. We almost skipped the focaccia- that would have been a huge mistake. That is a must order, the texture was biscuit like and the seasonal flavored butter was divine. The pizza was really blowing us away with the white sauce and the chili crisp combination. The dough is so light and crispy as well it was wonderful. The meatballs were huge! and came with delicious grilled sourdough. The pasta and lamb shank came out next and at this point we couldn't see how it could get any better but then it did! The lamb shank is huge and cooked so beautifully. The pastas were definitely the standout bites of the course. The carbonara noodles are thick and cooked perfectly and the sauce is so rich a creamy. The Tortelli pasta was my favorite, the pockets stuffed with a gooey filling and the fava beans added a great texture to the dish. We were in carb heaven. We somehow were able to fit dessert in and i'm so glad we did not skip it. We ordered espresso martinis to accompany and this is without a doubt the best espresso martini i have ever had. We substituted tequila and they were completely delicious. I don't remember exactly what the names of the desserts were that we got but one was a a chocolate mousse with a peanut butter sauce and crunchy peanuts which was so yummy. But the favorite of the table was the pistachio one. It was like an ice cream bar with crunchy pistachios on it. Get this one if you go! This was an unforgettable meal from service to food. The staff is incredible and really treat you wonderfully and the food is so good i really didn't expect it to blow me away as much as it did. Everything we ordered was excellent: garden salad (fresh and delicious), fried green tomatoes (great flavor), and meatballs (very tasty). We ordered an assortment of entrées between the six of us, including the margherita pizza (delicious), lamb, Ragu pasta, which was amazing, the rigatoni, the lobster ravioli, and the steak. This place is such a hidden gem!! Located in what feels like an old bed and breakfast, the multi-level restaurant leans into the cozy lodge vibe. The first floor has a big bar, a lounge area around the fireplace, and some tables. The upstairs has a super spacious layout with plenty of seating. Every single thing we have eaten here has been insanely good. The pasta is always layered with unique and delicate flavors, and the pizza is SO good. If you sit at the bar, you can also get some special bar only offerings, like garlic knots made with their pizza dough The cocktail program is amazing and with prices on par with the bars around the area that use cheap liquor and premade mixes, they're a great deal! One of the best old fashioned's I have ever had! Lastly the service is always extremely professional but also warm and friendly. The owner is often around as well and he is always helping out which is super appreciated as a service industry worker. 10/10 all around read more

In every way it's good: ambiance, service, food. But not exceptional in any way, possibly excepting price, which is a bit higher than its true value. And, sorry to say, the wine by the glass exhibits a stingy pour. The Ciabatta Bread, grilled and coated with herb butter, was moist and tasty. Among three of us we had and shared Caesar Salad, House made Meatballs, Baked Cod, and Chicken Milanese. All good, well presented. Service was terrible. We were seated and a couple in our party was running late by 9 minutes. Our server was rude and stated she needed to "keep things moving ". The restaurant was empty and no tables were full down the entire side of the restaurant. She provided zero bread service and was rude every time she came back. She made the experience completely uncomfortable and the owner was present walking by our table as well. The food was okay, cocktails were mediocre had to switch to wine. The ambiance of Wandby Landing is one of the best I've been to. Such a cute restaurant indoor and out. Honestly, I've tried a lot of the items on their menu and you just can't go wrong with anything. Ambiance was 5/5. You enter through a garden and the interior was beautiful and intimate, even for larger parties. I think they advertise hosting weddings and I can absolutely see why. Service was 4/5. It was good, nothing outstanding. Food was hit and miss. Ex) Hanger steak with local mushroom and salsa verde amd fried shallot was 5/5. Good portion, excellent flavors, cooked perfectly. Peekytoe crab bucatini carbonara/cacio e pepe was 2/5. Barely a hint of crab and 2 or 3 under rendered pieces of unrendered guanciale over overcooked pasta. It wasn't advertised as cacio e pepe but even then it would have been far too heavy on the black pepper. Prices weren't bad. Maybe a lottle lopsided for the quality/quantity. read more

We came about 6 months after Wandby Landing opened and the food and service was very good but can say a little over a year later, bam, they have upped their game with new menu items, the flavors on all of the dishes we tried were truly fantastic! This is an A+ in our book for southern/central coast Maine The wine selection was also pretty good, we got a nice bottle from one of our favorites in Williamette Valley and the mark-up was reasonable for the quality of the product. Wandby is one of our favorite local go-to dinner spots! Our usual order is the Caesar salad and the chicken Milanese to share. The chicken is so crispy and delicious...and BIG! Their pizzas are also outstanding. I order the mushroom pizza and ask them to add sausage. The meatball appetizer is great to share as well. The wine list is excellent with exceptional hand picked Italian wines. And their cocktails are tasty and fun! Service is extremely friendly and Matt the owner is always around. Top tip is to sit at the bar or downstairs near the fire place. Highly recommend! read more

Very expensive $32 for two glasses of "house" Chardonnay. There's a "kitchen love" fee on your bill which is added without your permission. The smash burger was a regular burger on a regular bun which isn't what a smash burger is supposed to be. The staff were incredibly nice and attentive but the price was exorbitant. read more

This was our second visit since new owners took over and rebranded. Now I remember why we weren't in a hurry to return. Tried the chicken milanese as recommended by a previous reviewer. The dish was swimming in dressing and the chicken was heavily battered. Would recommend ordering dressing on the side. The pizza is very good and I would return for that over the sad milanese. The cocktails and wine pours are stingy compared to other local restaurants. Our service was pleasant and attentive and the atmosphere is very nice but nothing extraordinary here. I might return if a friend suggested it, but it wouldn't be my first choice of places in the area. read more

This place is stunning. The pizza is amazing and so is all of the other food. The Chicken Milanese is easily the best thing on the menu. We sat at the bar because there wasn't a table for us and it was totally fine. The reasons why it gets 4 stars and not 5: I wanted the Chicken Milanese but asked if I could get it with some type of spring mix instead of arugula because I cannot have arugula. The bartender told me no and he also told me that arugula doesn't take up much of the dish so it's not a big deal. When my wife got her order, which was the chicken milanese, there was a massive portion of arugula on top, it was basically a salad, my wife loved it, but that goes against what the bartender told me. I ordered the Bolognese, and although it was good, the physical portion of the dish was less than half of the chicken Milanese. I understand it might be a heavier dish, but not really because that chicken is fried, the portions were not consistent and I was left envious of my wife's dish, which is what I wanted to order, but didn't because they couldn't accommodate me not wanting the arugula. Like I said before, that chicken is easily the best thing on the menu, but everything else was absolutely wonderful. read more

We were here for our anniversary last year - and it was fantastic. The service, the food and even a complimentary glass of Prosecco. We returned again last night for this year's anniversary and the experience was much different. Our server, Victoria was disinterested...never introduced herself (we learned her name when she engaged in conversation with someone else), didn't make any small talk or ask about us and did nothing more than take our order. The food was good but not outstanding...the place was not overly busy...and a much better experience could have been given. You won't make it in the restaurant business if people don't leave feeling that the whole evening was special. There's too much competition- you have to set yourself apart. The manager swung by and asked how everything was as we were finishing up- but the time just wasn't right to state how disappointed we were compared to the previous year. What we should have said is that the staff needs a refresher in making everyone feel like the experience- from beginning to end- is top notch and that the food needs to be phenomenal to get people back. We never mind spending if the entire night makes us feel great. read more

Rude staff, poor service and mediocre food If these restaurants were in NYC they would be out of business in a heartbeat Customers are not appreciated-they are taken for granted. Fortunately there are a few exceptions and the one that truly stands out is Wanby The owners are true professionals They are very experienced and understand what it takes to provide a great dining experience. They work incredibly hard to make sure that they provide high quality ingredients, great service and well prepared food. Officially the front runner in the kport food scene. So happy to see new innovative places popping up. Been here 3 times already and each time has been spectacular. The ambiance is also amazing especially around sunset. Stand outs: mussels with prosciutto butter. Clam and fresh pasta, rigatoni perfectly seasoned and cooked, loved the tiny bits of cauliflower. Wandby Landing is a great new addition to the Kennebunk scene. My family always enjoyed On The Marsh, the restaurant that occupied the space before Wandby, so we were looking forward to the new owners. They completely reimagined the space so it's much more open and contemporary looking. They built a large central bar which would be a lovely place to hang out and enjoy their well-priced cocktails. The food, with one exemption, is very good. For appetizers, we had the mussels, which were very flavorful and delicious. They were loaded with garlic, onions, and broth was so delicious, you couldn't stop eating it. The squid was also very good and well cooked. We also tried the garden salad which was quite large and tasty. For the entrees, you only have four choices (if you don't want pasta). The swordfish was a beautiful piece of fish and well seasoned. The spaghetti and the rigatoni were also quite good, though the rigatoni was for me on the verge of being too salty. I'm sure the salt came from the sausage used in the sauce, but they should tone it down a bit with the tomatoes. The side dishes were also delicious. We had the grilled eggplant and the chickpeas. The chickpeas have a heavy cilantro flavor and if you're like me and think cilantro tastes like soap, I wouldn't order them. By the way, you most definitely want to order at least one vegetable side because the entrees do not include anything but the protein you ordered. Fortunately the sides are large and could easily feed two, maybe even three, guests. The one major flaw was the grilled chicken. It looked beautiful when it arrived, but both orders were over-cooked, dry, and tough. People had difficulty cutting it, and the chicken just peeled away in strips. When you only have four choices of protein on the menu, each of those four dishes needs to be delicious and the chicken is a major fail. The server noticed that we only ate half of it, asked our opinion, and did ask if we wanted something else, but when the party is already halfway through their dishes, who wants another dish? The proper response would've been either take the order off the bill or offer a free dessert or drink. None of which happened. We order a tiramisu for dessert just to try it, and it was very good with lots of rum flavor. The service was welcoming and friendly, though they need to work on bringing out the food at the same time. Since the restaurant is still getting its feet on the ground, I'm sure this will improved. Overall, if they either change that chicken or cook it better, I would give Wandby a five star review. The prices are reasonable, the vibe is great, the space is beautiful, and most of the food is tasty and well-presented. read more

Our waitress Ruth was very knowledgeable about the menu and steered us in the right direction for our pasta choices. Four of us had dinner at Wandby Landing on a recent weekend. I had high hopes, given their website, but I was disappointed by the service and ambiance. VIBE: The dining and bar décor is pleasingly sleek and modern. The music, techno dance, was percussive and too loud for my tastes; coupled with the conversational noise from other tables, I had trouble hearing the conversation at our table. The lighting level was perfect when we arrived, but was dimmed at least twice over the course of our meal to the point that it was hard to enjoy the appearance of the food. SERVICE: Everyone was cordial and reasonably attentive. Unfortunately, our server's soft voice was overpowered by the music & noise. The most annoying thing was that the salads, apps and entrées were all delivered simultaneously, not coursed (this is the second time in the past two weeks that this has happened to me at a supposedly fine-dining restaurant -- a major screw-up). The staff was apologetic, but no remedy or comp was offered. FOOD: We ate our entrées first, while they were warm, the our cold plates. A red leaf & little gem ]salad was fresh and tasty. Swordfish loin was delicious (though the accenting capers had not been rinsed and were very salty, and one portion seemed a little over-grilled). Others said they liked their pasta with bolognese. There was a compact list of serviceable wines by the glass, though the pours were skimpy. Given that I disliked the ambiance and service, I wouldn't be inclined to visit again if I return to the srea. read more

I've been there twice. The ambiance and service were great. My first pasta meal was excellent. The second time, a different pasta dish, was too spicy - maybe too much salt. (First item in pasta section.) I had a nice glass of wine on my first visit, second time I had a very light pour...below a half glass and I only order one glass so very disappointing. Given the prices, it's also disappointing that you get no bread or rolls,etc with the non-pizza entrees. You get a small plate of pasta, which for me is filling but unlikely for most guys. So you almost have to get an appetizer. Expect to pay about $70 minimum per person with one drink and tax. Then add the tip. Nice place but a work in progress. And no breaks for the locals in the off season. Not yet anyway! read more
