Bf and I come here often but the other night was a let down. Multiple tables open yet loads of people waiting to get seated. One girl asked us our name and where we preferred to sit. Bf said whichever is faster. So as we are standing there another couple walks in behind us. They said they wanted to sit in the bar area and we're seated immediately. Before us. By the girl who took our names. Super ridiculous. We realize it's busy at night. But the tables that were open were obviously clean and ready. And there were tables in the bar. Just lame. Great food. Last time I will step foot in this location. Last time I was here had to track down a hostess after sitting ignored for 20 minutes after being seated. Watched people who came in after me get their food and drinks before I had even been so much as greeted. Waitress showed up and said nobody knew whos table it was (meaning where I was sitting). Today after waiting an obscene amount of time (probably 30+mins) to receive my food and watching people who were seated 15 minutes or more after me, receive their 2nd round of sushi, I tracked down my waitress. She said she'd check on my order. 5 minutes later she said it would be out soon. When I asked what had happened she admitted she never rang in my order. One time is an off day but being forgotten a second time at this establishment shows a complete lack of competency. I have been frequenting Trappers for years. I was a regular at their original Sushi Town. Always great service there. Always good service in Kent. Covington is a shit show. Steer clear. read more

Ive been going to trappers since they opened the first one years ago in bonney lake. I love it and will continue to keep coming back. The trapper, timmy and bonney lake are my favorite! Price is alright, not too expensive but not cheap either. read more

This place is now open, had to go lunch this week. Very good sushi, would for sure go back and try more of their offerings. Very good alternative to the packaged sushi that sometimes are forced to buy. My one complaint would be they are using strofoam to go boxes, why won't these places bump the to go price .25 cents and buy the cardboard / compostable boxes? read more

I gave this place a five star rating for overall. First, there are not many Sushi places in the south end. This place has some incredible specialty rolls such as the Timmey that you will not find anywhere else. I won't tell you about it but ask when you get there. Secondly, the prices are such that you really get a great bargain. On Monday you get all you can eat for under $20.00. Wow. Normally that is only for lunch. Several months ago I came across Trappers, on a Wednesday. I had the all you can eat sushi for $20. It was one of the most satisfying eating experiences i have ever had. The food was fresh and exquisite. With my wife and I we are now regular customers. Are server Jen was most attentive and courteous. The sushi .chefs Triton, pedro, and peter are all master sushi preparers. Jimmy the restaurants host is always kind and courteous to us and makes your experience most enjoyable. In a word, "HORRIBLE"! I grew up in the Lake Tapps/Bonney Lake area where Trappers started their first restaurant and we have been going ever since and spent thousands upon thousand of dollars (mostly at the Bonney Lake location) always taking out of town guests for Sushi and it's a must do whenever my girls are home from college. We have been to Covington a dozen or so times and It has never really been as good as the B/L location but this time it was awful! The barricade look like it had been dropped and the seared Albacore was all mushy and sliced super thin.. All the rice in every roll was ice cold and chewy like it was made the day before.. The cooked rolls such as the signature Trump roll had stale cold shrimp in it no doubt cooked the day before... The only thing good was the Edema-mi and the salmon skin hand rolls because they actually made them to order... When the waitress was told how horrible the food was she went to summon the manager but he couldn't be bothered to come out and talk to us since he was "on break"?? Really? We left a full one half of a $118.95 order on the table, paid the bill since they offered -0- consideration and headed to Subway... Oh yeah, I left my name and number for the manager for when he got "off break", that was Monday 5/26/14 and I have yet to get a call... Nice... read more

I came in to make an order about 15 min prior thinking that my order would be done by the time I get back. It wasn't I had to wait an additional 35 mins to get one roll of spicy crab. Really? So in all it took then 50 mins to get a roll of spicy crab? Worst service ever. read more

Was in the area yesterday, and I thought I would check out this location. I normally go to the Kent Station location. I must say the staff's customer service is amazing!!! We were greeted and seated promptly. Our waitress was wonderful, very attentive, and sincere! the sushi here is great. the service here was awful. this place is by my parents house and after hearing good things from a few friends that live in the are, i decided to bring my dad and brother who are both sushi fans in for lunch. when we arrived, they asked if we wanted a booth or a table, ad as my father is totally deaf on one side and has a hard time hearing on the other, i asked for a table so he could read lips, too. we were seated and saw that they had an all you can eat option for only 17 or so dollars and decided to go for it. when we told our waitress she told us that we could only do the this if we sat at the bar. i explained my situation. she said she would talk to her manager. the manager said no. i asked to speak to him or her. a fellow came out from the back, and after making painfully obvious that he really didn't want to do it... but he guessed he could think about it... he statred to tell my father why ("your not CRIPPLED, you CAN still sit at the bar you're just CHOOSING not to") all the while yelling and making stupid hand gestures to try and get across his point. everyone in the restaurant was watching this display, it was both emberassing and totally offinsive to me and my brother. i wanted to get up and leave. my dad wanted to stay regardless of how uncomfortable the situation was... long story short: we ate here. it was good food. i'm not going back. i have been working in a reastaurant for over 5 years and i will do anything to make a customer comfortable and happy in my place of work. not so at trappers. read more

Service is great. It's looks like it's busy with the local residents. No asians. Since there are no truly great sushi restaurants nearby, I tried this place to fill me up with just what I need. Spicy tuna roll and their combo sushi sashimi plate. Rice was a bit hard and not enough seasoning was in the sushi rice. The cucumber had no vinegar flavor so I asked for vinegar to add to the cucumber bowl. I don't love it, I don't hate it. The employees were very friendly which I appreciated. read more

WORLD CLASS CUSTOMER FAIL! Let me start off by saying it takes a lot to make me walk out of a place so I never do but it takes even more for me to ride out such a horrible experience and leave without a tip. Frankly it takes a lot to get a bad review out of me the lack of attention to detail, basic communication, sense of urgency, and a basic understanding of customer service. Marie the other server and kitchen staff get an overall grade of F which stands for FAIL. And let me share why, not because I want something back or free but for the sake of your business I don't like to see people fail at what they do. So start off with customer service introduce yourself it takes one second if you forgot to put the order in own up to it same goes if you are swamped I am not saying make an excuse but just own up to your short comings, communicate don't avoid me I don't bite I promise I will actually get less mad if I am in the loop! There is no reason why the other waitress who was helping out at the bar and only came to help out the section if she knows the people who sit in the section. Why is there like 6 people working in the kitchen? If your waitresses are struggling why are you calling out orders four Separate times? That goes with the sense of urgency that is money sitting there why treat them like crap because you cannot get your act together. This is my suggestion your hostess seats them gets them drinks and tell the server that someone is sitting in his/her section if she see him /her struggling tell the other server who is not busy to get in there and help! instead of calling out a order 4 times do it once and then run it out. There is a reason why she did not get it the 4-6 other times you called her with her order up. Maybe I came in on an off night or the servers are new or it was every person for themselves night. But here is the bottom line there is no excuse for 3 rolls of sushi that was mediocre at best to take 45 minutes a server who comes to your table no exaggeration two times to get the order and to give the check and For the hostess to stop by the table more times and for the manager or chief or owner (who ever that was) give you your food and say are we "good"..... Seriously? If you have to ask than you know something is off or wrong. I am not one to tell how you how to run your business but I have seen more from less people in a restaurant. Something has to give and I just hope you can fix what you cannot get right in the first place and I wish you the best of luck! read more

I probably will not go to this location again. In the past I went in 1-2 times per week. I was in tonight and waited over 45 minutes for my order and it had not been started. The reason was we had to take online orders and Ubereats orders before anybody in the restaurant. I went to Applebee's and find shed my meal in less than 30 minutes. read more

It's pretty sad when you come in on a Saturday night at 8 to order take out and they tell you you can't because they don't have enough food. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard your open until 9 no customer should be turned away before that time. I love this place but I will now reconsider coming here next time. Good service and a nice selection of rolls. At the covington location it's always SO cold inside though. It's like you're in the fridge with the fish. But seriously the rolls don't taste like they were frozen and there is plenty to choose from. Kinda pricey for the fancy rolls, I mean $18 for a little lobster & crab meat? Husband and I just finished dinner and decided to write a review. It was 8:20p we were seated right away but sat for 20 mins w/o water either before a girl asked if we had been helped. She said she would get the server but ended up waiting on us. She did apologized for no one waiting on us but included that it wasn't her section and that they are not suppose to ask people. So my friend Nguyen invited me to try out this place called Trappers in Covington and I was reluctant to try it due to living in Seattle and being spoiled with many Sushi joints that I have frequented. To my surprise this place impressed me with their all you can eat special at the sushi bar. For the price you pay you cannot beat the quality as it is not your typical conveyer belt sushi but made fresh to order. I enjoyed everything I ordered! Their staff is amazing, as busy as they get ,they were still able to provide me my sushi rolls and nigiri in a timely manner. I ate more then I payed for and was pleasantly surprised. If you enjoy sushi you must do the all you can eat and give them a try! Order the "Trapper and Trump roll" delicious! Only warning is be prepared to wait as they do get busy for dinner service luckily there is a bar in the corner to kill some time, make reservations early if possible. read more

We were told they would call us when seats were ready so we left to grab a drink. We were back within a couple minutes of being called only to find out that gave away our seats. The reason: "you must be present when your name is called to be seated". What? Then why take down our phone number? Why bother calling us only to tell us you gave away our seats and to wait another 35-40 minutes? There's no way I'll wait that long considering your food is mediocre. read more

Noisy....poor help from the hostess....employees seem preoccupied with themselves (excluding those preparing the food)....and the 'sushi' is not anything remotely like real Japanese sushi. I've came here many times and have never had problems until recently. Tonight I made an order to go and the hostess who answered the phone was very rude both over the phone and in person. It was around $30 for two rolls which I found to be odd so I went in to ask how much one of the rolls were and received a horrible attitude (we ordered extra stuff on one of the rolls so I completely understand why it cost extra). I work in customer service so I completely understand what it's like to have bad days, but the service I received was unacceptable and this hasn't been the first time that she's been rude. my bf's bff raved about the bonney lake trapper sushi for years so when it opened in covington, we gave it a go. we went on a weeknight for an early dinner and they served us promptly. we chose to share the soft shell crab, calamari, 2 miso soups, and the long roll variety, which had 4 different types of sushi rolls. the appetizers came out as quick as they cooked them. nice size on the crab. i think they milk their squid, because it wasn't chewy, but i could tell it wasn't fresh. nonetheless, it was good! the rolls are quite large, not one bite-sized. clean presentation of food, which i appreciate. my only complaint is that we asked for our rolls to be 4star spicy... it was more of a 2. i was expecting fire in back of my eyes. but that's alright, the wasabi did the job. read more

I used to go to the Bonney Lake location all the time and the quality was outstanding. After the Covington location it started out ok but now the prices rose and the quality has gone down. Too much money for what you get and its weird you have to ask for ginger and wasabi with your rolls. It should already be served. Happy hour should include wine too. This was my first and last visit to this location. I usually frequent the Kent location due to convenience and the service there is always great but sadly, I cannot same the same for the Covington location. My party opted for the bar area so that we would be immediately seated, although none of us drink, which we did state to the waitress. We waited about ten minutes and when I asked our waitress for water she stated that she "had other customers to take care of." We didn't even have water brought to us for a full twenty minutes. When we did finally order and get our food, our waitress kept hovering, and rushed us to finish our food. I always sit in the bar area at the Kent location, I know all of the waiters, and they all know I don't consume alcohol but they have NEVER made me feel uncomfortable or rushed me to finish my food, and have been nothing but professional. I am so disappointed by the Covington location and the absolute lack of professionalism displayed by our waitress. Will never go to this location again. read more

The scallops were good. The spider roll was good. Asked for a second saki and she came at the end of the meal to ask if I had got it. No I said. Don't bother. Each of the items as well as the individual entree were tiny compared to other restaurants. Overall I am being generous with 3 stars for the quality and quantity of initial dishes. I only had to go order for tempura shrimp lunch meal. Very pricy 12$ for skimpy 3-4 shrimp tempura (smaller than my pinky finger) with LOTS of rice to cover for their shrimp and weird cucumber salad that was salty and tasted like it was soaked in soy sauce and it literally was few pieces of cucumber. No miso soup because you have to bring your own container in order to get it. Whatever. . I think this place is way overpriced for their quality of good. Tempura itself was very soggy as well.
