I come here whenever I can. They serve the best Teriyaki in the area and super friendly owners.

This place is full of strangely specific signs giving scolding reminders to patrons. Things like returning the hot sauce to the counter and not to take ice out of the ice watee dispenser. All these signs make normal people, who wouldn't do those things, uncomfortable. While the heathens who do that kind of stuff won't give a darn about the signs and do it anyways. The service is nonexistent. There's a quick exchange and corrections made if you aren't doing things in the way the guy who runs the place would like. They are extremely stingy and cheap in glaring ways, including their assortment of signs. The food is fine but nothing to rave about. The prices are decent. I'd rather them raise the price and stop acting weird and assuming we're all palming extra cans of soda and ice. The vibe is just a strip mall. Stopped into Kim's this past week for lunch. As everyone knows there are lots of options for teriyaki in the Seattle area. Kim's has a good overall rating for a reason. The place is clean and the staff is pleasant and professional. I ordered a chicken teriyaki/ katsu combination. It was a good value, lots of food. The salad was fresh and tasty, teriyaki was cooked just right, tender yet cooked completely. The katsu was crispy on the outside, yet tender on the inside. This is a great example of HOW YOU FAIL! I was in the neighborhood and decided to try something new. I'm really not a teriyaki fan, but images of traditional Chinese takeout like Sweet & Sour and Mongolia dishes were enough for me to try. Images showed reasonable portions and customers also bragged about the complimentary soup. Well, here we go. When I asked about the soup, the guy said we don't do that anymore. As I waited, takeout order after takeout order was brought up for pick up. It was a long wait, even people that ordered after I did got their orders first. When my order came, my jaw dropped, unlike the customer photos and even image on the menu board, my meal could have fit on my cell phone screen. I immediately went back to the counter and told the guy, "Hey, this is more than half the size of what's on your menu board". He responded by saying, "Those images are not accurate". I laughed, and said, "Listen, either you stir up some more food to make this meal worth what you charged, or just give me y money back". A smart person would have said, let's make this right and if they chose to say after the fact, portions are now smaller, I would be informed that I would have no need to return. Either way, I would have ate and they would still have $13 in the till. What happened was they voided the sale, the food was wasted and I left 100% unhappy, and now they have a bad review that would make any new customer question if their hunger will be satisfied here. For the record, I had one bit of the dish and it didn't even take good, so the drought of good Chinese food in South King continues. read more

I love this place. Every trip is a real pleasure. They really make the best teriyaki I think I've ever had at any teriyaki place, and I have been to a thousand of them lol. They are very fast and they are very friendly, but always professional. They seem to really care about the customer because of course they want you to come back, which I keep on doing. I've been coming here again and again since 2009 and I'm never been disappointed. I can only think of literally one thing that is not great, in fact it can be seriously irritating and I'm sure Kim's Teriyaki loses business because of it. I feel bad for them too because it really isn't there fault, and I'm not sure they could do anything about it either but it's the location itself. No matter which direction you try to enter into the parking lot from and no matter which way you try to exit the parking lot from, you'll find that your gonna often have an irritating bit of difficulty. Huge pro of this business is that it is literally around the corner from where I live! Which is a hugeeeeee plus!!!! You really have to try the basic aka chicken teriyaki when trying out a new teriyaki restaurant, ALWAYS! I called for a Chicken teriyaki take out and the man who answered the phone was very friendly and professional. My order was really ready in 15 minutes as he stated. When you order a meal here, it comes with a free soda!! Which is rare now in days for a meal to come with a soda. The presentation of the Togo is very neat. First bite of the chicken was good but I'm not a huge fan of my chicken being crispy at the ends (I'm more of a grilled, juicy Chicken type of gal, LOL). Okay teriyaki place. Food okay but, complimentary egg drop always runs out and gets a little too thick by dinner time. I wouldn't mind paying a dollar for it if I could get it fresh all day. Broccoli beef is made sweet, it really shouldn't be. Soda comes with meals, but I would rather keep my dollar, to avoid the sugar. Amazing service, awesome food, great atmosphere. Jay, the "face" of the place, is kind and considerate. The food is great, cooked wonderfully. The sauce is thick, without being, "burnt" or funky tasting, as some places. They allow you to get an extra scoop of rice, if you prefer, vs the salad. Salad comes with a house sauce... I've always been a ranch only person, but this sauce totally changed my mind. As another reviewer said, you do get a calm of soda free with EACH order, and can "upgrade" it to a bottle by paying the difference. I do wish you could buy the soup at any time of day... they sell larger cups of the soup you can get free, for those ordering takeout. My favorite part, is the customer service. It's beyond amazing. I'm disabled, and my orders are large, as I feed my family. Jay always packs it into a box, then carries it out to my car for me, so I don't struggle. First time trying authentic teriyaki and was looking for something quick on the way to the airport. Kim's teriyaki was quick and delicious, but the best part was the huge portions they gave! I got it to go and was surprised at how much food there was in the take out box. There was so much chicken that I could not even finish - it was very tender and the sauce was delicious as well. It came with more sauce than what I am used to (I had only had sarku Japan teriyaki prior to this), which was nice. There was also a side of salad that accompanied the meal which was good for balancing the protein overload. I tried this place due to the great reviews. Unfortunately, this place gave me an upset stomach and diarrhea. It was late afternoon, I ordered their combo with a side. Teriyaki meat was good, but the teriyaki chicken had a hard outer layer and very dry on the inside. Having years of experience in the food industry, I know what they did. They pre-cooked the chicken and re-grill it when they receive an order. Many restaurants, especially fast food, does this as a normal practice. Problem is with poor food handling or letting prepped food sit out too long. Especially with chicken as it goes bad pretty quickly when partially prepped cooked. I don't know if this is common incident with them, but as an avid foodie, I'm definitely not going back to Kims Teriyaki. A lot of people ask me about my dining experience because I do eat out every day and try all types of food. In the positive side, service was good. Negative side, food gave me diarrhea. read more
