A mom and pop store serving delicious teriyaki! 4.2 though rounding up bc some other low star reviews don't seem to even be reviewing the right business. (In doing a g-search it seems there are a few different businesses called Himitsu.) I was in the area and looking for an easy takeout dinner, ratings on g-maps looked pretty good so gave it a try. The restaurant is located in a small suburban strip mall, parking is in the lot directly adjacent. Walking into the store it's decorated with light wooden panels and a number of Japanese artwork and tchotchkes. The ordering counter is in the back, didn't seem to be much table service around 5:30pm on a Friday. In fact they seemed pretty short-staffed since the same lady at the counter taking orders also seemed to be helping in the kitchen between orders, and it took a while to clear plates from tables where customers had finished eating. The menu is listed on the back and side wall of the ordering counter, they specialize in teriyaki though there's a number of combo side dishes, simple rolls, noodles, fried rice, and tempura that are on the menu too. I placed my order for teriyaki chicken $17.29 and teriyaki beef $20.99 and was directed to sit at one of the tables to wait while the food was being prepared, which took about 20 minutes. While I was there were about handful of other parties that also came to order for take out or dine in. The food was delicious with a generous portion size for the proteins. A nice smoky grill flavor, tender meat, well-marinated and they are able to customize the level of spiciness for the chicken teriyaki. I would definitely recommend checking them out! read more

Extremely disappointed. This place is expensive to start, but the service doesn't match the price tag. We spent $100 for a meal that arrived without a single napkin or fork. It's a small space inside, and it's more expensive than other teriyaki restaurants. Bento Teriyaki Chicken is $28.99, which comes with 8 California Rolls and an assortment of shrimp and vegetable tempura. The portion is large enough to share between 2 people, if you are not too hungry. Lunch Bento is $23.99. Aside from the price/value, food is alright. Teriyaki chicken has a nice char taste (like how it should be), but the California Roll is not tightly rolled, so every piece fell apart when picked up with chopsticks. There wasn't much service. Boy o my!!!!! Was I happy to find this gem, clean restaurant and bathroom, great energy inside and amazing food! Literally was hoping to find a little spot to grab lunch with the hubby and 1 of my sweet kids well!!!! Look no further who ever the man was cooking and taking our order today was preforming magic. It is very rare for us to experience delicious food within every dish. Each item was flavorful not over salty, full of egg and hot!!! He also gave us an unexpected gift while dinning. He made us crab Rangoon usually they these are made it makes my stomach sick but these taste different, they taste fresh, light in cream, non greasy, not over salted. I've been back a couple times since my initial visit and I'm sticking with 4/5. I tried the spicy teriyaki on my return. The woman warned me it was spicy and I can concur that it was spicier than one would expect, but I breath fire, so it was welcome and on my scale, her 5 was about a 3.5/5. I'll say this, I'm pretty sure on my last visit, I saw someone I saw on a previous visit, so it's clear this place has a customer base. Two items keep this place from being 5 star in my book. Pricing is a bit high. As stated, the portion is generous but you are also paying as much as you would at a full service restaurant. The woman also appears bothered by customers. When someone asked for soy sauce to go or sauce on the side instead of the entree, she looks anything but amused. I'll be the first to admit some people don't say please or thank you, but a little joy in your attitude would go a long way to encouraging the same in others. read more

Editing this to reflect the quality of the food. This is the only teriyaki place my spouse can eat at due to his food allergies. Today we arrived just before seven. We tried to order for dine in and she said they close at 7:30. The sign out from says 8pm. Yelp also says they close at 8. This is annoying. We order our food and she doesn't want us in the restaurant waiting on it, says she'll bring it out to the car. At least six other people go in and pick up food from them so I guess it's become more of a to go joint. We get home and the ribs I ordered were a huge portion and well cooked. My spouse's spicy teriyaki is also large and very tasty. The salad was good too. I would say this place has good food but inconsistent hours. Call ahead for your order. Google maps and yelp both say you are open until 8 but stopped by at 7:30 on a Saturday and you are not open. The taste is on point. The pork can be a bit softer. So I've been coming to this location for literal years. The quality of their food has always stuck out to me - even when I ate at other teriyaki places, I low key compared them to here. I'm so picky with my fried rice and they make theirs perfectly! I sometimes add notes to my order like "just egg and onion please" and they always follow it. The woman who works the counter can be very quiet and standoffish. But I have been coming for so long she smiles and nods at me when she sees me. Initially, it was just a blank stare and polite nod LOL. So I completely understand people being put off for that - I've been coming here since high school and all I get is a little smile. But I believe that is just her personality - very quiet and reserved, which I respect and have 0 issues with. I haven't eaten in here for a long time, especially with Covid, but unless it was slammed they kept it pretty clean which is really important to me. If you're on the fence, try the fried rice for sure! And the yakisoba is great as well. If I get them both together, I have a meal for 3 days! The portions are seriously that large. I always enjoy their fresh, gluten free food. I thought I would never find a place with gluten free teriyaki, but here it is! All their teriyaki options are gluten free. They even sell their homemade GF teriyaki sauce in the restaurant. They also have several dishes that can be made gluten free on request, my favorites are their broccoli beef and fried rice. They also do have some tofu dishes for vegetarians. All their sodas and cold drinks are only available as refrigerated bottled drinks. Dine in is available, with free parking spaces outside. The dining area is fairly small so it might not accommodate more than 8 people, or if you can book the whole place, and seat everyone at different tables, 24 to 30 people. They do not take reservations for small groups of 4 or less. At this time I have not tried booking any large groups yet. read more

I come by here for lunch with some colleagues from time to time. It's a gluten-free Teriyaki place. The interior is cutely decorated and clean. I can't really comment on the service because the only interaction you have with staff is when you come to the counter to order your food and when they bring your food out to you. There is hot tea available around the corner of the counter. It's in a large stainless steel insulated container with a spigot. There are tea cups next to it. You serve yourself. There are also water glasses on a table and pitchers of water in the soda refrigerator. You serve yourself as well. It would be nice to have signs telling you so. The staff do not openly tell you that they're available. I have only ordered their gyoza, pork teriyaki, beef Teriyaki, and tempura. Everything I've had was delicious. I do love their gluten-free Teriyaki sauce. They have it for sale in a bottle for a little over $7. This place does get packed during lunch and dinner hour. It's not a bad place. I will still continue to come here from time to time. If you come early enough before the crowd, you can get one of the two booths that are right near the window. read more

Beware: Food Poisoning. I live down the block from this place and as soon as I got home from eating here, I was on the toilet and feeling sick. Other reviews have mentioned this, as well. The woman working there was very rude, impatient, and condescending. The food was very mediocre and seemed like prepackaged food that they just heated up. Food took a little longer to come out. Around 20-25 minutes. A bit long, but I didn't mind. I would rather they take longer for quality, than slap some stale overly grilled "chicken" in the box and slap salty teriyaki sauce over lukewarm rice. Because it took so long, I think it was worth the wait. The chicken was fresh, nice and moist. The sauce was light and not overly saucy. The salad could've been alot fresher, so one star down for that. And another star knocked because some of the tables weren't cleared. Bad experience...The chicken katsu and chicken teriyaki seem pre-cooked. Saw them put the chicken already with grill marks on the grill...not a fresh piece of chicken. The udon wasn't fresh. Tasted store bought packaged food...something you'd buy from uwajimaya...put the dried noodles in hot water then add the packet of seasoning. Paid $2 extra for teribeef to be added...what I got was stew meat...:-( Its a shame as they have an updated look to the restaurant. The food was just bad. read more

Absolutely love this place. 10 minutes down the road, very convenient, and ALWAYS good. More often than not, I call them ahead of time to order and when I arrive, it's always ready and HOT. I hate when you go places and the food definitely seems to have been cooked too early... Never a problem here! I always get the wonton soup and it's always spot on. The broth is very peppery, which I LOVE, and the wontons are amazing. Definitely my favorite meal there. The teriyaki is also very good as well. They also have really great california rolls!! Chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu came with 2 scoops of rice and green salad with white vinaigrette dressing. It's a solid 4. The side of vegetable tempura can with 5 pieces of vegetables: mushroom, broccoli, carrot, potato and onion. I'd give it a 3. If we knew it was going to be that small, I wouldn't have ordered it. Not worth the price. It was ok but expensive for the price. Even paid extra for 2nd sauce that was not needed because of the portion. Lesson learned. read more

Come in here when you're feeling like being treated like dirt. The older woman at the counter whose been there for years, is extremely condescending, rude, impatient and plain awful to interact with. I've been coming here for years, and I always ask myself why I put up with these awful years of encounters. I'm hoping today I can just stop coming - EVER AGAIN. I'm gluten free and my favorite food has always been teriyaki. Today after calling in and asking (it's early June 2020 and we are still in the middle of a pandemic) if she could please take my payment over the phone and bring the one small teriyaki bowl order curbside, (as I've seen her do multiple times during the pandemic) and I've never asked her before, she said she was too busy and could not. I asked if there was another time I could call in because this time I actually can't walk well as I was recently injured. The call somehow hung up after that, and I thought to give her the benefit of the doubt (AGAIN) and called back, and said somehow the call hung up when she picked up. I explained who I was from the previous call, and she still didn't say yes or no to curbside pick up, and just rudely asked my credit card info. I asked how much the total was (because she never gave me the total before charging) then she confirmed my order and rang it up and told me the total. Just as soon as she was about to hang up (because I am a regular customer she usually says 'okay,' and hangs up right away) I said 'I'm in this specific vehicle etc.' and she hung up. Then when I arrive, I wait a few minutes, then I call, and say I'm the person who ordered this (because she didn't ask for my name) and she just impatiently exasperates the word 'where?,' and I already had my window down, and I was wearing a mask (She was NOT by the way), and she just rolled her eyes in exasperation and swung the teriyaki bowl to my side. PLEASE someone, ANYONE please open a new gluten free teriyaki restaurant (both gluten free and dairy free options would be great too) in the Kent area. All you have to do is have descent customer service, and if you have to - can even pretend like you are thankful for clients, and I will always come by.
