I was the only person in the store and there were two employees on the floor. One exceptionally unfriendly female employee, an older woman, stalked me and stayed with me, about 10 feet away, pretending to check barcode on the same extension cord for 15 minutes. As I struggled to find the electrical part I needed, she never offered to help, never smiled or even acknowledge my existence. I considered belting out a few bars of, "me and my shadow" for her, but she seemed to have absolutely zero personality so I just let it go. I get that theft prevention is important, but so is making your customers feel welcome and appreciated. For that repeated experience alone, I go there only for the occasional small item. I'd go a lot more if they showed more respect for their customers because they do keep a decent stock. But man oh man, where do they find these people and what kind of customer service training do they give them?

Stanley's is the classic small business the neighborhood wants to keep in place for their needs big and small. I've been blessed that I haven't had too many emergencies in my house but knowing a Stanley's run can be done quick sets my mind at ease. The team here clearly knows their craft and is happy to share their expertise. What I especially value is their honesty. They never try to pressure you into buying unnecessary items. If they don't carry what you need, they'll tell you and often point you toward where to find it. Such confidence and integrity are rare. While large stores like Home Depot have vast inventories, for smaller or specialized items, especially related to older Center City homes, this store is often the better choice. Prices are fair, and the quality of guidance enhances the overall value. It's evident that this store is run with pride, care, and years of expertise. Used to be an ACE, now it's a True Value…read more * * * TIP * * * Their house key duplication is the same price as Depot, but True Value offers real brass keys instead of the lower quality steel keys at Depot. * * * TIP * * * $75 Chip car key replacements!!!! Just had a very helpful experience with them for a chip key replacement for our car. Dealer wanted to charge $240 + an hour of my time (pre-scheduled appointment too) for a replacement chip key. True Value can save you tons of cash !!!! After a lot of research I was referred to a True Value in Wilmington as someone who does chip keys. I decided to try a True Value nearer me. The Newtown Square location does not do keys; very frustrating. Luckily we're actually closer to this Paoli store, so I gave them a try. They looked up our make/model/year to be sure they could do it, and had a blank for our vehicle in stock. There is one main guy who does it at Paoli, so you should call to make sure he'll be there before you go in. Unlike Lowes and Depot (who I'd called earlier in my research), True Value actually knew what they were talking about and were familiar with our car. The man who does this totally knows what he's doing, and was totally competent about running us through the details of how it all works, and price ($75) and time (20 mins to program the vehicle). WAAYYYYY better than what my dealership was going to charge. It was like 70% off the price, and a third of the time! No brainer. Note: Lowes and Depot only do certain makes and models, and even then, only certain years within their already-narrow parameters. If you have a very popular car, you may be in luck there, but it is really hit or miss, even with some pretty well-loved vehicles, like ours. As mentioned above, not all True Values offer this. This Paoli location has a superior key service, and they deserve a lot of credit for the value they offer, plus the customer service. This is my 300th review, and I'm super-happy to make it a 5-star one! :-)

All of the employees are extremely helpful and can easily navigate the hidden hallways, rooms and stair cases. I always had a positive experience at 10 Th St Hardware I have purchased many things there a week…read moreago. I bought two plants for my balcony and unfortunately they died. I called 10 Th St Hardware to see if I could with my receipt come in and get two more for the two that shouldn't have died within a week and they told me that it was not in the return policy to take back any plants to die I find this so unacceptable. They are seasonal potted flowers and there was no reason for them to die. There was also no reason not to exchange them. I will not be returning to 10th St. hardware because of their customer service.
